anyone really got the device?
waiting for T-mobile to call to get mine....
Hi!
I have already ordered the MDA compact at the local T-online Shop in Weil am Rhein (D) 'caus I live nearby in Basle (CH). Although online it seems available, they are still awaiting delivery :?.
Anynone knows when they actually get to the stores? The shop is getting crazy with me I think, I call almost every 2-3 days to know some news when its coming, he he he.
Cheers
Rainer
hi,
I just received mine from t-mobile Germany yesterday.
It looks great. It's very stylish and superbly manufactured. I was looking for a small pda-phone I can carry around in my pocket and my Qtek 2020 was a little bit to bulky.
This machine is great. Not much bigger then my Siemens S65.
So far it runs every program I had on my Qtek.
GPS is fine via BT and TomTom 3 is running well.
The SD-card-slot works with my 1 GB Transcend SD-Card and my SAN-DISK WLAN Card.
Windows Mobile SE is a big step forward concerning the display settings supporting different font sizes and landscape setting.
The included mini-usb cable is capable of charging and syncing the device simultanously.
Included software is also nice. Truefax, GPRS Monitor, Clearview, voice dialing software.
Didn't have a change to check the battery.
by the way. is there a solution to show the contact info of sent sms?
hi andilein, would you mind to post some photo for us ?

Post some photos please.
What difference does the 64MB of RAM make as against 128MB?
What's Clearview?

Is the version you ordered English?? Sim unlocked?? What website did you order from?? Thanks
hi all,
simple questions i know but i just wanted to make sure of a few things before i go ahead and purchase this!
is the SPV M500 basically the same as the imate jam and Qtek s100 etc??? because i hate all the orange branding crap they put on their phones so will be lookin to put the qtek or imate rom onto the phone asap! will this be possible? i also need to unlock it so i can use a dual sim adapter and use both my o2 and orange sims in it - will the unlock solution for the rest of the magician devices work for the spv m500? has anyone tried?
secondly have people used Tom Tom 5 with this phone? can you report if the devices worked well together and give a stable solution?
thanks and SORRY for the stupid questions!
Tom
svp 500 vs qtec s100
the svp 500 is similar to the qtec s100, but not the s100. The svp 500 is also known as the Qtec S110.
I might be talking under correction here, but I understand the S110 has a new ROM which is not the same as the latest S100.
I don't think there is much difference the 2 phones, other than that your memory is 128 instead of the 64 for std qtec s100s. The outside of the svp has also changed slightly, so has the colour.

This is not true! the Orange M500 is exactly the same as the MDA Compact, Qtek S100, VPA etc. The only thing that is different is the looks. The M500 is somthing less round and is in darkish gray. The Qtek S110 is a Qtek S100 with 128Mb Ram Thats it!
thanks for that rvbcrs,
I did mention the differences which were the same as yours.
For instance, you can not buy the mda compact / vpa compact / ijam or any of the other's stylusses, since they've changed the s110's stylus and it will not fit. I've also been told the the Rom is versioned otherwise, which may be so / not.
It is really the same thing, but what i tried to say is that it is definately improved (only a bit) and like the rom hacks might be different.. those type of things.. but hey, if you've got the same phone you probably know better.
thanks again for your input on this
The vpa compact/orange spv have much better sound quality than jam/mda etc! Also they are only 64mb just different housing!
The vpa compact/orange spv have much better sound quality than jam/mda etc! Also they are only 64mb just different housing!you'll be able to get rid of most of the orange "crap" once you get it.Just go to add/remover programs and remover the orange software that gets rid of the visible things + interface etc
thanks very much for the replies guys!
in general does anyone have any experience of Tom Tom navigator 5 and any of the magician devices? do they work well together? i have heard that tom tom 5 drains the full processor power for the entire time it is running which has led to critical overheating of some devices and the phone functions and for that matter any other functions cant run at the same time due to the work that tom tom 5 puts on the processor!!! is this true?!
thanks,
Tom
i'm running tt5 on my vpa.it works fine.lt does use a great deal of the cpu but you can't use other programs when the navigator is on anyway!no overheatirg problems.tt5 works better than tt3 for me when all patches are applied as l struggled to answer calls on tt3 as it ran so slow but tt5 is better!pm me for more
Opinions are needed for both devices. I have the jasjar but have just ordered a kjam from SDD. Is the kjam a good replacement for the jasjar. How is the voice quality between the two?? Is the vga screen really worth keeping the device over the kjam??
I am thinking of upgading my MDA Compact very soon.
My question is,
Does anyone know if my accessories
for my MDA like a Cradle and Leather Case will fit the 'Prophet', for instance the usb and audio ports?
1} All my sync cables for my JAM also are working in my Prophet, including the car charger one.
2} My iMate JAM cradle from BoxWave perfectly fits my Prophet.
3} And lastly, my holster-style holder from Seidio also fits perfectly!
What he said......go for it, definately a worthy successor to the mighty JAM but better battery life, more buttons and with OMAP overclocker no performance issues.
Hi,
Does anybody know, or has anybody tested, the I-Mate JAMin (etc) in the THB Bury car cradle for the I-Mate JAM? The dimensions of the two devices are the same, and the USB, headphone socket, and external antenna connector all look to be in the same place.
Just wondering if anybody has tried this setup.
Cheers
Paul
THB Jam kit
It doesn't work out of the box. There are some grooves on top of the JAM that aren't on the JAMin and that's what the THB kit uses to retain the JAM. You may be able to adapt it. I'm using the THB Blueadapter and it works well, albeit without the external aerial connection.
I am using my THB Bury Jam cradle, and can confirm that it works fine.
Although it does not seem to engage the aerial connection as well as it did with the Jam, on my S200 the connection seems to be slightly higher, only possibly by half a mm.
You also need to use the additional self extracting file from THB to get the hands free.
Also the annoying echo is no longer there that I got with my Jam.
Hope this helps.
James
Interesting
I must have another look, unless there is a subtle difference between the JAMin and S200 cases. It certainly didn't seem to work that well in the shop, with the little bumps deforming the case. Thanks
Interesting
On my S200 the two little grabs on the THBury holder seem to sit nicely where the SD card recess is. Please see attached.
Cheers
James
This is a thread from a while back. Has anyone been using the Bury car cradle (on their website they show it as the MDA compact holder).
I'm still looking for a real (complete) carkit (not just a cradle with loading capability) and so far this is the only one I can find. I really don't want to combine a cradle with a BT speaker system.
Works with minor tweaks
I have the THB Uni8 cradle for the MDA compact running with my neo.
I only had to do some minor "dremeling" do not get my neo scratched when removing and mounting it again and agian. It is just a five minute job, even if you have two left hands like me.
