Can I change IMEI Number for XDA IIi ? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

hi there ,
a question came to my mind. How I can change the IMEI Number for my stolen XDA after been banned from network. The phone found but became useless
please help
Cheers

Nasoor, you'll be well advised to search the board before asking questions asked far too many times. In this instance, there's surely no excuse for asking this question.
http://www.crimereduction.gov.uk/streetcrime09.htm
The new law:
The new law means that:
changing or interfering with a mobile phone handset IMEI number is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE
Possessing, supplying or offering to supply equipment for that purpose is also a CRIMINAL OFFENCE.
The new offences carry a maximum penalty of 5 years' imprisonment, or an unlimited fine, or both. The police will actively enforce this law.

You're in the UK. Best to ask this question quietly, privately, or not at all.
It's not that it cannot be done. It's just that it's a criminal offence to offer the service

For all who don't know, **** the Police was a song original by NWA i think and covered many times

Thank U guys but I don't need it anymore coz I returned the XDA back to the company
Nasoor

Dear All ,
I don't recommend use any programs or connections by any means to change the IMEI as it a criminal offense by the LAW of U.K

Pls clarify ... XDAmanipulator and XDA IIi
Scanning this forum it is hard to know if XDAmanipulator works for XDA IIi or not? Does any one know pls ??

Just out of interest, if the phone was found after being stolen why dont you call the service provider, provide your proof of identity and ask them to release the IMEI from the Blacklist. It takes between 2 and 24hrs to update on the network.
If you own the phone why would you want to change the IMEI.
Just a thought

Your interest is not technical..
You raised a very good question for which I am sure there is a perfectly plausable reason... However since this is a technical forum I would not attempt to clutter it with Other issues... Meanwhile if you do have a technical response then I would love to hear it..

Technical question. Whether tool which exists number IMEI permits to alter.
For Wallaby it exists - XDA Manipulator
For Wizard - iWizard.
It does exist for Wallaby ? This is good question.

XDA Manipulator does exist
not sure if it was removed though
it required a serial cable as in subD8 connector cable to the pc
and it supposedly only worked with some radiostacks
but changing the imei is not really legal most places
and unless it's used in some way to sim block a phone the
only reason to change it would be
1 one stole the phone and it was blocked
2 one bougth a stolen phone in which case one can compail or try to get the network to unblock it

yes some countries don't have that law...
if symbian powered cp can be changed then ms maybe yes...
if someone invented it...then what next?
though changing imei is not recommended...obviously some people want it because they stop paying there bills...some stolen.
Just like what charliebrown888 say...call your sp if it is yours...simple!
now can i recommend this thread close or continue the endless asking of imei?
regards,
xda2jojo

IMEI Turkey. For information
I monitored this thread because there was no way to get my phone's IMEI registered for use in turkey.
Now, that is since 2007 the law has changed. If you are a foreigner in turkey and have a 2007 entry stamp in your passport then go to Turkcell and they will mobilize your phone. Any foreigner now can take a new phone from outside turkey every year.
I hope this help few expats over there.
Regards.

I interrogated bad. It walked me whether exists tool for Himalaya.
My question it is not after you IMEI would alter. The programme wants to write to service the diagnose of car in order to he acted on PDA.
Wins over licence on only PDA. You buy my programme > you will give me your IMEI > you will receive working programme on your PDA only.
I do not it want to he was on torrent or donkey for free
If tool exists to change IMEI on Himalaya - my plan died. I have to think differently.

Securing your Magician is now a reality...

Let's say you're in the bank and suddenly there is a robbery and you're caught in between. You have to empty your pockets and you know you will have to surrender your Magician...you can activate your Magician by saying "don't shoot" as the magic word and say a command like "here it is" and your handheld will automatically run 1-Pass (or security s/ware of your choice). Two hours later, your mini will automatically hard reset and the theives won't be able to see any of your private docs...
Cool huh?
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...rmId=2&N=4294966998&productId=172265&R=172265
Personally, I prefer PDAKill. Having the Magician listening for a magic word 24/7, means heavy drain on the battery. With PDAKill, you can just send a SMS to destroy all your data, including /Storage and /Storage Card.
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=16803
Usually people who don't intend to return lost or stolen devices will not turn on the Phone without removing the SIM card first. PDAKill is therefore rendered useless.
They would have to turn it off first! Since it doesn't really have an off it may take them a while to find flight mode. I don't think they will bother looking as the should be using the time to escape from the bank before the police arrive.....
O2mini_noob: as much as you paint a wonderful picture, I think when you've got a shotgun pointed at your face, password protecting your "must buy can of beans" shopping list is probably not a priority.

It might be a better idea to consider using it with something like my VJPhoneTools and calling the police. They'll get a call with lots of muffled "I'm just O2mini_noob. Please don't shoot me!" and I'm sure they'll be over sharpish
V
hahaha....
Wasn't someone on here developing a "pdakill" type program that worked more on the IMEI? so if the sim was replaced an sms would still find the phone. Thought I remember reading something a while back, could have been dreaming mind you
You're not dreaming, I'm remembering something like that to from months ago. I belief they worked on the idea too that changing owner name would send a sms too. if only I could remember which thread...it was something with anti theft.
Cheers, M
@marto_martin: What planet R U from? When sending a SMS what is the first or last detail you enter? Right, a phone number. Only carriers know about your IMEI when logged in - but they're all independent (except regarding NSA  ) Thus, this "application" is unbelievable in terms of impossible.
Chatty, I think marto_martin may have misunderstood slightly. I presume he means that it records the IMEI but detects that the SIM has been changed, and notifies the user.
As you say, it would be impossible for most of us to "find" the phone by IMEI on any network and use that information to locate it.
V
Yep, jogged my memory (this is what happens when posting in the wee hours) if there's a different sim put in an sms is sent to a preset number like a mates phone advising them your phones been stolen.
Thanks for clearing that up vijay555
Can also contact your telco to report handset stolen and give the IMEI number so the phone will be practically useless as any SIM will not function in it.
The program to send a SMS if the SIM card is changed is called 'IIWPO_anonymous.CAB'. I found it somewhere on this site a few months back, but don't remember where. A simple search should bring up the answer, though.
For this program to be REALLY effective, you would have to cook it into an Extended ROM. Then a hard reset won't help the thief. But think about it twice: do you really want to receive messages from various buyers of your stolen Magician for the remainder of its lifetime? Because that could well happen, since the police most likely won't bother to look up the scoudrels.
All in all I find PDAKill the best solution. Just fire away that destructive SMS as soon as you find out your device is gone, and (most likely) your data will be erased. Forget about the phone, it's gone anyway...
My phone went missing a few months ago here at work. The dumb smug didn't know how switch the Jam off as he thought when the screen goes off, it is off.
I walked around with another phone and kept dialing my phone and eventually heard it. Found it in one of the cleaners change room. It was just pure luck that he didn't know how to switch it off. He is now fired.
That is very fortunate....sad for owners who have lost phones but never got them back..I'm one of them ...
Solution..!!

That may be true, but if they send you an sms (to another number) then you will get their phone number and so can easily call them and say "hey, you've got my stolen phone!" If they refuse to give details, just tell them you'll keep ringing and ringing. And tell them that it won't matter if they put a new sim in because the moment they do the phone will send you an SMS.
There wer always better ways for the legal owner..
Hello mitty,
There were always better ways for the legal owner..
Once yr fone is stolen and recieved the sms thru my software, u can contact the police and if they did'nt respond to u properly, there always will be some private detective agencies.. Spending a few more to them can definitely be worthy(u can even claim that later from the thief).. Considering the main advantage of my software to keep the thief unnoticed that he has been tracked down..
Visit the link by me in the above post or directly to my thread and read the posts over there on page3 & 4..
Regards
Carty..
It really depends on who stole your phone. If it's just some punk, you could get lucky by threatening over the phone. But a lot of organized theft is going on, where the phones are send in loads to other countries, so maybe it's best just to leave it to the police.
Hiring a private detective seems a bit overkill to me, since it could easily cost 10-20 times as much as the phone is worth. But to each his own...

If you live in South Africa, the police doesn't even come when you phone and say you have been shot or hijacked. So it leaves, a baseball bat and a couple of big friends to go and wack the oak. "If you know where he is.

Startup location

What are all the possible ways for WM5 to startup programs.
With windows I know you have the startup folder, run keys in the registry and services.
What are all the possible locations a program can be launched from within WM5. The only one I know of is the startup folder but there obviously are more.
Thanks

Ive only had my jamin a week now and as with everything in my job I like to know how it works, the ins and outs. I think ive pretty much got the jamin figured even to the point ive made my own CABs to help when I hard reset (done one a day so far while I figure it out.)
The only thing left is understanding what runs when I turn it on. Like its nice to know what runs when you turn windows on Windows Mobile is the same, even more so given the limited memory. For example I have the built in CA antivirus installed, but I set it not to run on startup, dont want it remnding me im out of date. Its just finding where teh startup locations are.
You should really get rid of the antivirus. Uninstall it completely.
One day in the (not so near) future, viruses for Windows Mobile devices may become a problem, but for now any anti virus software for these devices is a pure waste of system resources.
totally agree. I actaully hard reset again (yup, more fiddling) and removed it from my Ext Rom.
At present there are only 2 virus's. one is a proof of doncept (Wince/duts) and the other is still pretty lame.
The chances of running such a program is slim but both are detected by desktop virus's scanners. so unless your downloading software direct to the PPC your pretty safe. Even then you still need to launch the file.

Hey Danny
U can try installing the MemMaid (attached)
It has a great interactive user friendly interface and tells u all the hidden apps running and u can deselect a few ones(coz it tells u which ones are taking the Most memory)
Do take a full backup, in case u delete a system file and the device does not boot up.
I hope some seniors here would advice more on this..
SORRY I HAD TO ATTACH PICS THIS WAY.

Have you ever thought to, oh, I don't know, ask the company that made the GPS receiver?
Honestly, it seems more and more that people seem to think that these forums are either their own personal tech support place for any issue they may find, or think that almost everyone who reads these forums knows the answer to any question regarding the phones and the OS, phones that no one here made and an OS that no one here coded.
Also, it's a weekend. How many people do you think are going to be on a forum on their day off (I work one weekend day, which is why I'm posting this now. Otherwise, it wouldn't be until much later in the day/late evening, if at all)? You posted, then five hours later checked and got pissed because no one answered your question? A question that was very light on details. You followed directions... what directions? Directions from a manual for the Holux, directions from some random web page you found, directions from space aliens?
Something else to keep in mind, the only reason I even know that is a GPS is because I read a thread on GPS receivers not long ago and that name was mentioned as a company that makes bluetooth GPS receivers. Many people would see Holux M1000 and have NO idea what that is.
What have you done to try and fix it? What other things have you looked at? What steps did you do to get to this point? Heck, what version of WM5 are you running (stock, custom, what version and build)?
Check your self before getting pissy mate, you are not in any position to be demanding or expecting help. You left way too many blank spots in your request, and are expecting way to much from people who don't owe you a single thing IMO.

hmm did you chat with them while their call support was open?
Because ever time i try to get my key they just tell me to call their support. As the person i talked to didnt have the tools to generate a key.
Also what reason did you choose for contacting microsoft?
Can confirm that this method works for other countries too. Got my key through US chat and was not asked where I'm from. You also don't need to say the model name of your device, "htc" will be quite ok.

Told them that portuguese microsoft support could not generate the key and BAMMMM, got one
I've used the dutch chat support, literally took me 1 minute to get my activation code.
This process worked perfectly for me. It did take three attemps before I got an agent that would provide a key but now I have an activated WP7 phone.

UK worked for me. I asked 'To use LIVE services please enter activation key. How can i unlock these features?'
Worked for me
So they dont even ask you for a serial number or phone-key or anything?
They just give you a code?
I can't see how they can tell its a genuine WP7 phone just by your SIM phone number?
Why do you need to change the registry then?
Do you need a SIM in your phone to activate this?
I don't have a SIM in my at the moment...
Where do you guys go when you chat with MS?
I've tried the link as described in an early post , but there's no chat available...
I have no way now.Since they don't gave me the code.I got hurt when they said Please contact the reseller or the phone manufacturer. They knew that there is no way of getting the code from phone manufacturer or reseller. They had ask me that Are you located in Cambodia? I said sure.

I found a couple of the manuals online just by doing a simple search...maybe someone posted the test software as a torrent.

We have the documentation. We need the software in the official documentation pack.. the SDK.
Post that you did your part and signed up to request information.
I've thrown my hat in the ring - I'll post back if anything comes of it.
I don't have an email that will get access but do you thinkwe could trick them with something like this?

No, you'd need to set up an email server too. However trying with a personal account is better then nothing.
While I'm waiting, I just had a quick question:
As part of the registration/request process, you have to check the product you want information about. If I check the S5PC110, it says, "We are preparing the information on your selected product. It will be ready as soon as possible." in the downloadable file list.
However, the other models, like the S5PC100, have multiple options available (application notes, ibis models, dnw for USB 2.0, etc).
I'm sure the answer is probably no, but I'll ask anyway - is it possible that the software isn't being distributed to anyone at all, not just that those who are registering are being denied?

I don't know. I do know that I requested both because they are both valuable for the S5PC110. The S5PCxxx series is pretty close together, the S5PC100 runs at 600 mhz instead of 1000 mhz. pretty much the entire Cortex A8 series is the same.
I am trying with my Itt Tech student account. We will see if that works.
I just signed up using my company e-mail address. I am not sure if it will work but I will let you know.
Registered using my student email address. Let see if that works. Will post here the response.
BTW, Good work Adam!
Guys, get on this... we need a copy of the firmware!
Code:

Uart negotiation Error
Secure Fail Error
I'm uploading but it's not the RIGHT upload!

Target set maker would be something like "My Company".... Application would be "cell phone" or "TV".
Looks like round one for me was a no-go. Time to sign up again under a different name and see if I get any further.
I tried, and it didn't work for me either.
I've tried with all 4 of my email addresses. I have not received a response yet. It has been over 24 hours... Someone, somewhere, must have this software.. The best thing we can do is try and hope that they accept our requests.
