Keyboard Miss Match - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I bought my XDA Mini s from eBay and it is branded O2. I use it on Cingular so I loaded the ROM found here Cingular_RUU_WIZARD_217_AKU2_WWE_CF2_A2DP.
Most everything works except;
1) Skype will not connect to GPRS or WiFi - it always thinks it is doconnected
2) Ade this is really strange. The characters that appear do not always match the ones printed on the keys when using the slide-down keyboard. Usually one character off.
I really NEED a fix for two - BAD. Please help
3) Wifi just will not connect to security-enabled AP's. it will connect to open AP's.

Yo, if you look closely at your Mini S and then at the K-jam and 8125, you will notice that the keys are not in the same placement. The mini S is either a UK (yes there's a difference) or a german keyboard. The others are US/worldwide versions. Go download registry editor on this site, its on the thread called "easy tweaking your wizard. On the second page of tweaks, it lets you choose keyboard versions. The correct one is Englisch (not a spelling error).

Keyboard solved
Thanks for the tip and thanks to the author of the treaking program.
I have decided to got back to the OS ROM because I cannot get Skype (which I use a lot) to run using the Cingular ROM.

handwriting

hello all,
i have a t-mobile mda vario aka wizard with dutch wm5
But i don't have the transcriber or handwriting options,
They are writen in the manual.
Ain't they availeble at all, or as a seperate install..
thanks , arnold
also have it in manual but nothng in device..... strange...
Install this piece of software
MS transcriber
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...lts.aspx?st=b&na=88&View=en-us&qu=transcriber
And it works!
It doesn't work on my Vario (T-Mobile, NL version)
I am missing this functionality also. Well I tried your solution but although Transcriber installed on the device OK, it does not work for me. It appears in the input-selection dialog when using Word, but selecting it does nothing - just sticks with virtual keyboard input unfortunately.
Any other ideas, or comments on whether others have found the same?

Both these apps don't have a dutch version, so thats why T-mobile NL decided to leave them out. There should be a patch coming.
But who cares about that stuff anyway. Did you notice there is a complete keyboard you can slide out?
I have experience with the older ppc models and believe me,
yuo realyl don't nead thad rekognitoin software ****
hmm...
hard reset my vario and transcribe seems to be built in and working now... can't remember seeing it before.....

KJAM success on a 9100/MDA VARIO. Also a few questions.

Today I unlocked my 9100 and a friend's MDA VARIO. On both I put the KJAM ROM. Works like a charm. Thanks for all the good info I found here.
A few questions.
I have enabled the Extended ROM on my 9100 and saw that the KJAM also put it's own files there. The original ER had also a config file. I didn't see it in the KJAM rom. Does this mean that I can put all my favourite files there without editing a config?
Like to put mobipocket, resco's sudoku and spb's pocket plus there. Maybe also the disable certificate cab. What about serials? Is it possible to automagically have them registered there?
Is there a softphone/SIP proggy out there? Using at home a SIPURA 1001 for SIPDiscount/Voipbuster/Budgetphone. Would be fun that I could call for free with my QTEK9100 on every open Wireless Network.
To all.. Have a very prosperous 2006!
For VoIP I am using sjphone. Works quite good. You can get it here: http://www.sjlabs.com/sjp.html
I am using the 2003 version.
Thanks for putting me in the right direction. Installed SJPhone today, and already made my first phonecalls with it connected to SIPDiscount. Also made a setting for Budgetphone.NL. The idea was to get called on a normal local fixed line with it. Have it working till the part the phone rings. But with SJPhone I can't seem to pick up the line.

Wizard Keyboard map incorrect after changing rom

I recently reflashed my o2 xda mini s with the far superior imate rom. it's much better however the mapping on my slide out keyboard is now slightly wrong.
all of the unshifted keys are fine (letters, arrows, backspace etc) but when i hit shift, many of the symbols are bounced one key over. For example Shift A should be ! and is now ~. Shift S is now ! and should be @ etc etc.
Where can i change/update/hack this ?
thanks,
malty
Yeah had the same problem too. aAfter upgrading to the latest Qtek rom on my O2 xda mini s. Will appreciate a solution to rhis problem
You probably just need to change the keyboard locale in the registry. Just search the forum or look at the Wiki and you will find it.
cant find how/where to do that, anyone help ? thanks
fixed it using the tool in this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=39725
set keyb to uk english ticked the box and rebooted
perfect now
thanks

Comma and Stop changed around

Hi Guys,
I did a google search on the forum and I can't find anything in relation to this, although I'm pretty sure someone must have seen it before.
Using a Hermes and upgraded it using Schaps WM6 ROM which works GREAT! Only one problem, initially the keyboard was all screwy, the characters weren't showing up correctly over the Q key etc. So I installed the Advanced Configuration Tool the Schaps makes and now it all works perfectly, EXCEPT the , (comma) key and the . (full stop) key have changed place. I chose the "Cingular" keyboard layout because this appears to work apart from this.
The device is a Softbank X01HT (Made by HTC)
Any information would be really great.
Thanks for your help
Cheers

How To Write Sms Without Pen

A friend told me there is a program to see big letters on the screen so that I don't need to use pen to write sms. Can someone help me? As you can see I'm not pc expert
search for phonepad
it does it t9Style
Install an other keyboard like Resco Pro
Yup,
HTC Phone Pad works well! I've had it on my SPV since first upgrading WM5 (now on WM6) and it works fine as a T9 keypad emulator.
Its on this site... Somewhere!
;-)
Was going to upload it, but for some reason i can't so here is a link to a thread that seems to have it
Dark PhonePad
ive been using SPB Keyboard.....can anyone on here recommend another piece of software that is better?
I use PCM Keyboard http://www.pocketcm.com/keyboard.php
It's free and the layout is totaly configurable.
TouchPal by CooTek is by far the best, try the others but you will come back to this one.
I have attached the free version from before it went pro. If you like this try out the demo of version 3 from the website and buy it!!

I have found if you install more than one of these on your device then you can't switch between them.
Try uninstalling all the SIP's that you have added, soft resetting in between each and one more S/R just to be sure.
Then install just one SIP and another S/R and it should work.
If you still have trouble chuck something like SIPChange and set your preferred SIP before S/R.
I have been through many SIPs and have had the issue of most of them not being chooseable, well choose but have nothing happen. The only one i have found that is selectable is the TouchPal by Cootek.

lucky you...just tried that one, and im having the same problem as everyone else..ie...i can select it, but nothing happens.
i had the same problem with my phone
The only way i could fix it was to change my rom. now i can install as many different ones as i like.
have been trying the tengo keyboard as it splits the keyboard into 6 buttons so i can have the smallest keyboard (smaller than the normal wm one) and still use it with me fingers/nails
