I noticed my friend's Treo 700w has a number of pictures as quick shortcuts to the contacts on his phone. Each one of these pics when clicked immediatedly calls the contact...
How is this achieved? Any idea, tools?
Same on my Linux phone. But not on Windows Mobile. MS prefers the "list view" instead of the "icon view".
You guys should read this board more. Sigh

i added the Treo 700w today contact hack. after installing it i realized that 90% of the time i use voice dial, it's just easier. hit the button on the side and say the name John Cell or John Home
Yeah, I use my phone as a PDA more than a phone. So, I don't fancy having an extra plugin that may be slowing down (the already slow Charmer) the phone. However, I've also notice that I've only like call 5-10% of the contacts in my phone, and it would be nice if there is an application that (say) open a new screen showing the name/photo of people that I call most often (or that of I configure). Any exisiting ones?
Hmm.. or I should consider using the speed dial feature

Hey,
I am wondering if it is possible to create Today screen plug in that displays how many calls have been missed and if less then a defined number (say 5) displays the callers names/number if known? Has something like already been done? If not, how hard would it be to implement this? Any clues to help me to start this project?
Thanks
Check if phoneAlarm with an appropriate skin suits your needs.
Absolutely, PhoneAlarm is my recommendation.
If you're asking if it's technically possible, of course!

[unfortunately the bit you want, last caller info, is obscurred because it was my Mistress or somesuch]
From a technical point of view, this is very easy to do on WM5 using the state and notification broker.
DKToday might also be helpful and is free.

Any idea which skin I should use to get the functionality I need? MOst of the skins just show indicator or number of missed calls. I want to see whose calls I have missed from the Today screen.
PhoneAlarm skins can be built to show this info as standard (most skins have this feature hidden until "maximsed". But there's nothing to stop you doing it by standard)

I see there are a lot of homescreens and skins for the WM platform...but one thing that I'm really missing is some interfaces\apps for creating and sending SMS\MMS that are better suited for finger typing...since it all about touch on some devices...like my on Polaris
Does anyone know of something like that?
From what i gather sms\mms\email are all baked in to the outlook app on my device, but are there any better apps out there?
To faster create a new sms or mms, I use the HTC action screen.

The PocketCM contactmanager has a built-in SMS function. SMS history is shown threaded, MSN like. It does however have issues with several SIP panels, in my experience.
Just open PocketCM, scroll to a contact, select the contact and then select SMS to get in the messaging screen. The space in the bottom of the screen is for typing a new message. Four fingerfriendly clicks and you're typing away.
HOW CAN I SETUP THE HTC action screen. ?
THANKS
I've found the Cab on this topic.

Dear bros,
I'm having the Diamond, and a number of owners including me are not happy abt the number of appointments shown in the front page of the touchFlo3D.
Therefore, I have decided to create a small app that will open up in a small window (or a nice background) and will display all upcoming appointments regardless of which day it falls on.
This function is very similar to O2plus plugin as you can see in one of my older today screens:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The thing is, I plan to use VB.net but I'm kinda lost. *please don't flame me on this.. just asking help
I've used the classic VB for windows apps long time ago and I've lost touch. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with the code, just to display the next appointment or something. I'll build it up from there.
Here's an example in C# which I can't get it to work:

I've got all the tools needed: VB.net 2005, WM6 SDK, etc.
Thanks once again!
Cheers.
Do you hate showing duplicate contacts? Well after playing with the phone for 20 minutes i finally found out how to hide your sim contacts..
You will need a regdit program.
Go to HKCU"hot key control user"/Control Panel/Phone/Show Sim.
Change the default Dword value from 1 to 0
Restart your phone and you should be good.
Thanks!

yeah this is in the sticky @ Rhodium General, has been known since the MDA/Wizard days, as well as the option of using Advanced Config 3.3
thanks for playing
If you use the Tf3D HTC contacts tab, All People. Theres an option to view ALL, Contacts, or SIM. So no need to even do the registry.

Yes your right.. but knowing the fact that if your lazy like my girl and press on call button.. you will get the duplicated contacts and she gets annoyed by it so this is the way to turn it off
Thanks for this, seeing dups was very annoying haha.
One of the most useful threads ever! Thanks!
Hi all,
has any of you ever come across any ports of HTC Phone Canvas to our Treo Pro (WM6.1), like the ones depicted below? I have been looking for this all over, but to no avail.

i personally havent, sorry. the problem with the treo is that the screen is 320x320... and almost every other phone made is not a square resolution. there is a program that is called iconsoft phone extension. it gives you a new dialer, contact screen, and phone canvas. it is $25, but there is a free 15 day trial. for me, i usually flash my phone every week or two... so the limit doesnt really matter
you can check it out, it is very nice and replaces the default phone application. it does suck about 2mb of ram however
http://www.iconsoft.com/?language=en&menu=62e094db10fc83b1
edit: it is really easy to use, and very finger friendly. i have tried using the different phone canvases, but they are usually hard to set up right...
yep, I had tried Iconsoft (PhonEx) before and have to admit it is very impressive indeed. Its footprint is discouraging as you have mentioned. On a relatively fresh system it works rather zippy but I wonder how things go with plenty other apps installed and running. Well, need to keep on looking and hoping for a port ...
