GPRS Monitor & AKU2 - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Has anybody got the SPB GPRS Monitor from O2 working on the O2 AKU2 ROM? I get an error message about GPRSNotify.exe when I try to install it.
Anybody else had this problem, and found a solution?
Alternatively, can anybody suggest another free GPRS monitor?
Cheers,
Steve.

It works fine on my Exec.
Do you get the error when your installing or after you've installed it? And where have you installed it to?
I got this error once when I installed it to the SD Card because the shortcut to GPRSNotify.exe in the StartUp folder was pointing to
"\Program Files\GPRSMonitor\GPRSNotify.exe" rather than
"\Storage Card\Program Files\GPRSMonitor\GPRSNotify.exe"
These days I just install it to the device as its not a large program anyway

I have mine installed in the SD card and it works fine. Never got the error. I am using the QTEK ROM, it might be ROM related.

Managed to get it working - just installed after a soft reset. It seems to monitor ok, but is way overestimating the charges for some reason. I have it set for £2 per Mb, yet it says 150kb cost £2.73 or something. very odd.
Cheers,
Steve

I had this problem with Calendar Plus. BT went totally unreliable and I would get "bluetooth not found" errors. Ended up removing Calendar Plus and all was good again.
Ian
ianwood,
Well, I have problems with an icon only. The bluetooth itself is working fine. I was reinstalling everything today after a hard reset and was specifically waching for that issue. After installing Pocket plus the BT icon disapeared.
@Gevor
Did a clean install last weekend.
Also SPB Pocket Plus 2.5 build 2084
Still have the Bluetooth icon in the corner (did a few resets also)
So nothing wrong overhere

porblems at Pocketplus
there are some problems with pocketplus running on xda2 and mini..
you will not be able to see the storage card indicators as it has bugs in it. that's why SPB has disabled them (this is what i read from their website forum spbsoftwarehouse.com)
BT icon gone? have a read at pocket breeze website forum. this is how you overcome this problem:
There is a workaround for this problem.
It's not pretty, it requires hacking the registry, but it works.
I found it at http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthr...7403#post397403, but had to make a slight adjustment.
I assume that you know
- How to install form a CAB file
- How to create and edit a shortcut on your Pocket PC
- How to edit the registry on your Pocket PC
Ready? Here we go:
1) Download NoPluginsToday (you'll most likely want the ARM version) from http://www.ictinus.com/NoPluginsToday/
2) Install the CAB somewhere. Make sure you know the exact location of NoPluginsToday.exe (e.g. \Storage\NoPluginsToday\NoPluginsToday.exe)
3) Create a shortcut to NoPluginsToday.exe in \Windows\Startup. Name this shortcut ZzzNoPluginsToday, so that it is last in the list of shortcuts to be launched.
4) Start a registry editor, and go to HKLM\init. Look for keys named LaunchXX. You'll want to create a new String key named LaunchYY, where YY is a bigger number than any of the XX you found. I created Launch99. The value for LaunchYY is the exact location of NoPluginsToday.exe (e.g. \Storage\NoPluginsToday\NoPluginsToday.exe) you looked up earlier.
Now you're set! Do a soft reset, and see your Bluetooth icon again! You'll notice your startup time may be a little longer.
How does it work?
The BT icon disappears because of a timeout issue when loading plugins.
We solve this by using NoPluginsToday, which switches all Today plugins off, remembers the settings, and reactivates them the next time it is executed.
By calling NoPluginsToday twice, once via the registry (early) and then again via \Windows\Startup (late), we "postpone" the loading of Today plugins until after the BT icon has been activated. That's your longer startup time for you.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip, will try it out.
Been running PocketPlus 2.x on my Qtek S100 since the day I got it and no problems with the BT icon so far.
Same here .. PPlus2.5 on a Qtek s100 since they started to deliver them in Sweden..
Np at all ..
Be sure U run latest build..
Maybe its the rom in our qteks that makes it work... ??

how to choose what programs are installed after hard reset?

hi all,
am new to all things pocket pc so have been having lots of fun over the past few weeks with my new orange SPV M500. Have been trying out lots of diferent apps etc and generally playing around! anyway my 1 gig sd card finally arrived today so i decided to hard reset m device and start over.
however i did the soft reset after the hard reset method to stop all the orange software from loading. However i have noticed that some of the orange software is actually quite usefull! so my question is can i somehow select what software get automatically loaded instead of putting it all back on? also can it be downloaded to the sd card instead of the internal memory? finally can i install all my programms like spb pocket plus, tom tom and wisbar advance to my sd card now?
many thanks,
Tom
Since this sounds like when you don't load the external ROMs (at least that's what it is on my QTEK) once you have soft reset you should have a directory (under windows) on your pocket PC.
This directory will have the CAB files that would have been installed had you not reset. All you have to do is go through and figure out which are which are run those (by clicking on them).
I did this before as I needed the MMS client and phonepad but not the called id.
Hope that helps,
M.
Oh yeah the directory is called "External ROMs"
tomtom yes thats fine on the SD card... but Pocket Plus and Wisbar i would leave on the phone main memory.

SPB Pocket Plus

SPB Pocket Plus v.3.0.1 works fine on my XDA mini s, but then after a soft reset, the dan thing won't load past the 02 splash screen, requiring a hard reset to get it working again.
Does anyone else experience this? If so, could anyone suggest some alternative apps that provide the following functions:
1. Close/minimize button
2. Desktop function
3. Battery meter across the top of the screen.
Cheers - Mike
"magic button" is good for all that...!
download the latest version (3.0.4 I believe) - that verison is compatable per their site. Its the verison I'm running on mine.
Regards - John
Me too and working fine with 3.0.4 version.
Robin
I'm running 3.0.4 on my Vario with no problems at all.
You have to install it on the main memory because it won't work from your SD card (mines did't)
3.1 beta
You can also try their 3.1beta release. On my 2K3 device it's much better integrated with the OS.

Yeh, I got it working now. Cheers guys

Disable safe mode?
Doesn't magic button have that annoying ditionary link?
You mean that annoying dictionary link where, if you don't click it, nothing happens?
I dunno, I don't think that trumps Pocket+'s annoying 'Safe Mode' enabled by default option where, if you don't happen to read about disabling the thing, your WM5 PPC may require a hard reset

Is there a way to run logmein on the AKU2.0 S200 ROM?

I can't run logmein on the updated JASJAR or on the shipped S200.
Anyone having success?
Same problem
I am having the same problem and it must be something to do with their website or Pocket IE not sending info that the CAB is installed. I will see what 3am Labs say.
Logmein
Might be aload of 'Tosh' but i got logmein running on my MDA Vario with Rom 2.17.7.2.WWE, only thing i did different was 'Save As' instead of yes when installing, the cab file still installed it's self (i expected to have to do it myself). then it worked OK.
either that or Logmein have updated the cab file.
Hope this helps and it's not just a fluke.
Bit strange looking at a full screen desktop on a PDA screen.

worldtoday today plugin not working, any idea why?

I've found a couple versions of this timezone app (v04 and v15), but neither seems to work. Tried installing to device and storage card. I get this message...
"Yishin WorldToday" cannot be installed.
It can be downloaded from here...

It seems to work on some wm5 devices, but not wizard (for me at least)

I used to use it all the time on my previous ipaq and really miss it.
Any ideas? Any small today apps that can replace it?
Thanks!
