Hi, I'm hoping that someone's going to know how to do this..
On my old S60 Nokia I could set up timed profiles and zoned profiles.
The timed profiles was useful as it meant the phone would automatically turn to a "silent/vibrate" mode between a certain time, like late night/early morning, and then automatically change back in the morning.
The Zoned profiles meant, that when I was in the office the phone would automatically set to quiet, then when I walked out would go to loud, by use of mobile tranmitters, not GPS, but either would be great!
Does anyone know whether there is an application that would work with WM5 on the Uni that can do this? Or even just Timed Profiles... Or even Profiles PERIOD!!!
Cheers and best regards!!!!
Take a look at www.s-k-tools.com and SKSchema which does not do all you want but it has the basis and the author is very helpful if you ask for extra features.
regards cjb
Any one would be PhoneAlarm which supports timed profile.
Cheers I'll have a look at both of those. They the only ones?
Regards.
Hi,
PhoneAlarm (Current Latest Version 1.31) supports both timed profiles as well as zoned profiles.

Hi, I can see the bit for the zoned profiles, where you go to location bit.
But I can't find out how to add zones Any ideas?? :-s
Hi,
PocketZenPhone is better for what you want to do... Changing profiles on time, calendar...outlook...
Hi,
I've tried PhoneAlarm and PPCProfiles, but they've both got some problems :-(
PhoneAlarm did something but for the life of me I can't remember what It was annoying and needed a hardreset I know that!
PPCProfiles messes with my Ringtones, it conflicts with the Phone and Notifications options in the Control Panel :-(
I can't find a demo of PocketZen, all the links get me to 404 errors :-/
Is there anything else? What I want is so that between 0800 and 2200 Mon - Fri and 0900 - 2000 Sat and Sun my phone rings as normal, but other times the ringer is automatically turned off (leaving alarms to sound as normal)
Any ideas?
Cheers.

Hi All
Ive been requested to develop a simple profile manager for the xda II.
My users thought thet Zen's was gr8 but too complicated and too big on the today screen.
Here is what Ive come up with thus far. If anyone is interested feel free to check it out and of course any feedback is welcomed.
Cheers

Hi All
How it works.
Profiles :-
Silent
Turns system and ringer volume down. Can still use bluetooth and bt headset. Can still select vibrate functionality.
Soft,normal,load
User definable. Can set system volume. can set ringer volume, can use bluetooth and bt headset, can select a number of different ring options (ring, ring and vibrate, etc)
Automatic
This profile is a special one. as above but can opt to trigger on appointment status of meeting or busy. When selected it used the previously selected profile's options (if using normal then switch to automatic, normal profile settings are still in use) but when an outlook appointment of status busy or meeting starts as per outlook entry the profile changes to whatever the settings are you selected in the setup for automatic. When the appointment ends the profile settings switch back to how they were and it all goes around again for the next meeting until such time as you switch to another profile.
Here is the lastest version (v1.06 ) of the app and some screenshots.
Cheers

Hi Bretto.
I haven't installed your application yet, but why are they called 'demo'? Is this utility commercial?
Well, for Zen's PhoneProfile not only can you make the icons smaller (I used paintshop pro and reduced them 50%), so that it's smaller on teh today screen, you can now also use PocketZenPhone Tray, the version of PZP that resides in the tool tray rather then the today screen....
Hi all
Im just calling them demo versions at the moment. Of course when its finished I wont.
I was using pocketzenphone myself but I simply got pushed into this project because some of my users wanted an alternative to what else is around. Something simple that handles the basics.

IMHO:
With PocketZenPhone you can both manage the simplest options and have some more sophisticated options like run a program on profile switch, switch a profile according to any outlook status, manage all the available profiles on a timed base... etc., etc,
With it you can do all of this or just use its basic functions, and the settings page is "newbie proof" (oops...I was using a less polite expression   )
Finally... I cannot see any reason to develop another application... also considering the price that PZP costs: if your nice sw will do less it will have to cost less...
But of course the choice is up to you, good luck !
I certainly appreciate your comments but I would have thought choice for the consumer was always a good thing.
Not withstanding that its users who have requested this application after reviewing whats available.
I certainly dont take anything away from PZP its a great product and Im sure will only get bigger and better. Personally I like it.
Cheers
Bretto
Thank U Bretto for a exelent work .. Love it ..

Thanks for the feedback
I do have a new version with some enhancements that were requested.
The ability to have bluetooth on/off/leave as is.
The ability to have a point and click selection mode as well as the popup selection mode.
A couple of fixes.
The app is still being tested so when it has been cleared I'll post a new version for you.

Hello all,
Does anyone know if there is a program that allows you to set various ring profiles like on the nokia phones. This is a very useful and quick way of changing ring settings.
Hi,
I use phone alarm from pocketmax and have done for about 6 months. I think it works perfectly especially when getting on a flight.
www.pocketmax.net
Hope that helps,
M.
Or try PocketZenPhone, it's much easier that PocketAlarm.
Try PocketZenPhone, is the better!!
Have to say originally I tried - ok 6 months ago - PocketZenPhone and didn't like it. It hung alot and just didn't integrate well. Haven't tried the newer version.
Phone alarm though I like for the following reasons:
1. Allows MP3 SMS tones
2. Repeating alarms (like Motorola) to avoid missing alarms
3. Integration with WebIS mail
4. Integration into Today screen
5. Skins
6. GPRS settings
7. General notification settings
It seems to do what PocketZenPhone does and more. Just my opinion though
M.
Here you go!
Hi mates,
I have spent several days looking for a phone profiler (ala Nokia) as much simple as possible... no whistles and bells, no bloatware... just profiles.
I miserably failed!
So I decided to develop myself a software solution to accomplish this simple task.
I am so happy with it that I have decided to share it with you.
It is completely FREE. Take it as it is, of course!
I've been using it for several weeks now, and could not experience any failures. Nonetheless there could be bugs or malfunctionings I would be glad to fix if you let me know.
My "Phone Profiles" includes a control panel Applet to change your settings and a Today Item plugin to easily select or change the current profile.
Just select the today item, tap-n-hold (or hold the action button down) to display a popup menu with your profiles.
For all the CLaunch lovers, it also possible to activate a given profile from a command line using the following sintax:
ctlpnl.exe profiler.cpl, n, 1
where n is the profile number. Change 1 to 0 if you want just to edit the profile's settings.
This software has been tested on WM2003SE Phone Edition only.
That's all, I guess.
Enjoy.
M. Panzica (aka Silver Bullet)
UPDATED: Looks like it does not work properly if compiled with VS2005. Recompiled with eVC4. Please re-download. Sorry.
Pocket Zen Phone can be found at http://zendrui.free.fr/
@TheBrit
Do you mean you didn't like mine ?
@slvrbllt - does your profiler work on WM5 - I have a universal and am interested to know if it works on that. I can't test it on it tho just now cuz it's away for repair
@NinjaDonkey:
Nope, buddy.
As far as I know it doesn't work (yet) on WM5, since I use API calls that require the code to be signed. I am currently working on a new version that is supposed to be running on WM5 as well... stay tuned.

I'm sure yours is just fine.
I've been using PZP for a while now and it really does the trick. It not only profiles ring tones but lots of other settings too. 8)

hi! i'm a new magician user. may i ask how will I install your Profiler to my phone?
Try PocketZenPhone or PhoneAlarm
Those 2 should be the best in the market now
I just try both of them as of late
And I must say I choose PhoneAlarm better than PZP, PZP is a little slow and would hang once in a while
Plus PhoneAlarm got more feature like billing info, better skining...ext
@Silver Bullet: Could you post some screenshots please?
Greetings,

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed your little program on my Magician, and I am seriously impressed! The Today DLL is a mere 12k, and everything works flawlessly so far!
Great job - thanks a lot!
Would you allow me a few comments, in no particular order?
- your program needs a name.
- the GPRS problem that PZP has seems to not exist in your program - well done! I'm almost convinced to switch...
- this thread here is about the three existing profiles programs. Could we have a separate thread for your program?
- would you care to comment how you manage to switch on/off Bluetooth? I remember that for Zendrui this was not easy to implement. Does your program also handle Widcomm stacks?
- I would be interested in a German version, and if you send me a string table, I'd be more than happy to to provide German translations.
- one wish: I certainly do not want all of the settings PZP offers, but there are a few I do miss:
-- setting the volume for system sounds. There are situations where any sound is unacceptable, even the beeps when tapping.
-- set the backlight time-out. For example, when I navigate, I do not want the backlight to turn off at all.
-- backlight level independently for battery and charging mode.
Yes, I know that this already sounds like beginning featuritis. But afaik all these settings are simple registry entries, so should not bloat the code. Trying to put this into the UI may be a bit tricky. Well, just my personal wishes - feel free to ignore if you disagree.
Overall, I find it a really well-done little program. Thanks a lot again!
Cheers
Daniel
In my opinion the best is Profiler  Very simple and friendly program.

Hi, I have been searching for this for a few days now and cannot find anything.
is there a software out there that lets you schedule you notifications ?

hm, just thought about this...wouldn't that mean that before going to sleep I would have to chage the profile on my phone ?
if yes, that is not what I'm looking for...I need something that I can set and forget about.
anyone else ?
phonealarm has got scheduled profiles.
I also want something which can disable the sound of email notification at night - without all the other features - just simply configure so between specific hours, no audio notification is given.
I tried 3 different profile apps I found on this forum (with google search), and I found this one to work the best for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353586
Hope it helps
For my setup, I only have active sync and windows live sync up to midnight and then from 7am in the morning.
Someone mentioned PhoneAlarm...there's also AlarmPal from the same site, which notifies you of an email/SMS/MMS/missed calls etc.. repeatedly until you do something about it (or as many times as you tell it to!); it has the option to define the time period - start and end - for when it should be active.
I used to use it on my Hermes, but have never gotten around to installing it on my Kaiser; I used to have it set to be active from 06:00 to 23:59 which worked well.
It's not free, but it's pretty darn cheap
Cheers,
Mark.
is there a way to set different sounds for different sound profiles i.e. new txt alert is silent within the silent profile but I would like a noise when the phones set to normal?
I have tried setting this in the sound settings but if I turn 'play sound' off when phones set to silent it seems to do the same thing when i change to normal mode. must be a way to change this but cant seem to work it out?
thanks for any help.
Anyone? Someone must know the answer to this?
Hi,
maybe something like:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/?en
or maybe a free Version:
http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=1162
I use PhoneWeaver and it s for me the best
http://www.sbsh.net/products/windows_mobile_pocket_pc/phoneweaver
Does those Apps also work under TF3D? I suggest they only work on the normal today screen as an Today Plugin... so what about a working Profile switcher under TF3D?
Sure ... it works fine.
You just have to install "Second Tody" and here we go.
I'd love a similar app which can also change things like, how often new mail is checked for, wether BT should be on, WiFi etc. Is such an app out there?

PhoneAlarm is what you're looking for.
Go to PocketMax.net
Absolutely brilliant application! Controls just about everything
(and will work with or without Second Today)
Okay, this does look quite cool. I have it installed... but how do I select a profile? How do I run it without second today?
But how can i make a second today?

Hi,
I installed SPB phone suite but it is not compatible with TF3D. wat do i need to set? Thanks
I am also interested in this, I am trying to edit Silent Mode, when it rings I want to replace the silence with a "beep.mp3" so it just beeps any ideas?
Get PHONEWEAVER.
I found that TD2 doesn't has 'Profiles' like other Nokia, SE phones. If I want to set different ringtones + volume for home and office, I couldn't achieve this with single key press....It only has option to Ring, Vibrate and Silent...but could edit and set few different profiles.
Any suggestions on this..

SBSH PhoneWeaver does an excellent job.
CommMgrPro is another possibility (I found it rather fiddly to configure, although it does handle location-based profiles if you want them).

Thanks for the reply...It seems that G Alarm doesn't show name of active profile on the main screen, so any setting by this this can be achieved...also while setting ringtone, I cannot hear it before setting...and it is not showing full name of ringtone to identify.

You are right on the limitations of this software (no mp3, no screen icon). But still, it works very well and has many features, whereas other softwares are either not free (Phoneweaver, SPB PhoneSuite), or do not work on the D2 at the moment (G-Profile), or have only a Today plugin (PhoneSuite).
Anyway, I am ready to change my mind and try something else ....
