After being ticked off about not being able to turn on GPRS like we could on WM2003, you know tap on the "G" and select turn on GPRS or something like that. I have since been on a restless pursuit to find a simple and small program to take care of this...Well my search has ended, here is that small (4.5kb) program. Just copy to programs and create a shortcut to the today screen or if using wisebar even better..Once their just tap (make sure phone is on). It will connect to GPRS and also tell you your IP Address....Enjoy
"VJVolubilis -gprson" might provide an alternative with some other functionality thrown in as well.

Any feedback...working well for everyone?????

I assigned the voice recorder hardware button as GPRS.exe by PQz2 (http://www.nicque.com/PQz/).
It's great convinience!
Thank you!
When you say "Programs", which folder do you mean? Can you please specify the path. There are 2 "Programs" folder.
If you want it to show up with all your regular programs then place it in
windows/start menu/programs. Otherwise you can put it anywhere if you
are using Wisebar or a program like Ilauncher.
If I turn GPRS ON using this program, how do I turn it OFF?
you can turn it off via comm manager or just tap the connected icon in the menu bar and then tap disconnect. nothing changes you just turn off like always....
@cktlcmd
you also can switch off the gprs connection by pressing the red telephon key for about 3 seconds.
Wolfgang
VJVolublis -grpsoff or -gprstoggle can also do that. Although pressing red is faster

Perfect, thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for, for use with PocketPuTTY. I especially like the fact that it tells you your new IP.

I use the small icon for the connection settings to check if BT or WiFi is ON in my EXEC. I was just wondering, what you use that icon for since you were all looking for a BT Icon?

The icon allows you to avoid a few screen taps to change the bluetooth setting. Plus it's a visual indicator of the bluetooth status, without relying on a flashing light... Hope that helps!

As many have said. You will also need to soft reset to see it. It will also show (besides avoiding taps) whether you are connected or not (another icon next to it will show a live link. Extermely useful. I have a bluetooth car kit and sometimes will not connect and no way for me knowing without tapping few times. This will show me a live connection has been established.

@all,
whenever i am using the phone my ear touches on the gprs button in the taskbar on top. this starts the connection dialogue and the mdac is about to connect via gprs.
i know i can delete all setup connections, but is there a way to get rid off the button?- like with the screen rotate button at the bottom via a registry entry?
any idea anybody?
thanx
got the same problem here... but it usually doesnt connect... annoying yes i know but i dont think its fixable.
howdy,
found toggle start by vijay555 on his homepage. does something close to solve our dilemma: makes the whole start taskbar disappear, thus also the start button. got into contact with vijay to see if he has an idea concerning only the gprs button.
wait and see
Guys, AFAIK, unfortunately, the GPRS icon is displayed by default by the OS. I don't think it can easily be removed without some deep level hacking of the OS. A relatively easy solution would be to display something else on top of it, like a useful clock or battery icon, or memory usage icon etc... is that an option?
V
@vijay,
thanx a mil for your prompt reaction. In case you are dying of boredom one day, would be nice to see what you can do with deep level hacking!
thanx again

Is there any application that makes putting bluetooth toggle as today plugin possible in WM5 ????

Maybe Like This One -->
Thanks in advance
download and install batterystatus. Very easy to find as it is all over this forum. Go to the options and select the Tray Launch Tab. You will be able to add bluetooth,wi-fi,phone, as well as many other options to the tray at the bottom of your screen.
this should work
found this somewhere, i have it installed and it works good.doesnt take up much space either.
As an alternative, Vijay codes up a bunch of really handle utilities, and one (VJvolubilis http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis) can toggle BT. Then all you need is a today screen shortcut to his prog with the right suffix. cLaunch should do it if you want it on the today screen instead of the tray, or even create a drop-down menu controlled by a hard key with something like WM5NewMenu. All these are free, but I'm sure the developers would love a donation!
Theres a registry hack on ppcgeeks that enables that and wifi on your today screen if I find it i'll post it

I have been searching for this for a while now. I have started using phone weaver and turned everything else off but BT. See cab and thumbnail. In thumbnail look in bottom right corner of today screen for activated BT! I would like this to happen without running Phone weaver, seems to take up a little more memory than I would like for this type of app, but it works great and I am happy with it. Just what I wanted, if I could actually get rid of the few little icons to the left of the BT I would be VERY happy thats my main gripe here...
Cheers!

ciclebt.cab.... and assigne to hardware button. or use as app via applauncher programs.
You can use btIO-mini (see attached file). In this zip there are 2 files.
I made this for 2 reasons. The first is to have a quick toggle via HTC Home integration, and the second ist to be able to turn on/off BT via voice command.
1. bluetooth.lnk -> put this in your \windows\startmenu\program files\ folder
2. btIO-mini.exe put this in \program files\btIO\
3. Make a shortcut from your favorite launcher today-plugin to btIO-mini.exe
Make a softreset, after that you can use voice command to turn on/off bluetooth.
There is no visible indication, like pop-up or message box that tells you which state BT is. The program just looks in which state BT is and if it's off it turns BT on in connectable (invisible) mode, and if it's on it simly turns BT off and exits.
So this is not exactly what you asked since it is not a today plugin but maybe it will help you.
Cheers
EDIT: Be warned! The program icon is ****ing ugly. Will have to find a better one...
Thank you guys for your response ....
But I'm asking about the plugin in the attached picture ...

Hey.
Here is the way to change the homekeys IN TFLO 3D.
In a registry editor, go to:
HKLM/Software/HTC/manila/
Here is:
HomeLSKPath, which is the left softkey (Standard = Phonepad)
And
HomeRSKPath, which is the right softkey.
If you change these with the location of the programs you want to link to, and simultaneous change the names:
HomeLSKText = Left softkey text
And
HomeRSKText = Right softkey text.
Changing the boot picture/sound:
HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCAnimation (startup animation)
and
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Splash Screen (The green WM 6.1 logo)

Nice thought! I was thinking the same as well, or the other alternative is to activate/deactivate Bluetooth but does anybody know the string to Enable Bluetooth?
Thanks in advance!
Just wondering - why use registry when you have that option in Preferences?
"Changing the boot picture/sound:
HKLM/Software/HTC/HTCAnimation (startup animation)
and
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Splash Screen (The green WM 6.1 logo)"
So i tried it i just changed the path to another image (jpg) in the internal storage. I got a blank screen.
So does the image you choose have to been in the device?
Does it have to be .png?
If so whats the file path to the device.
Thanks very much or maybe im doing it all wrong you tell me please.
Cheers! thanks!

Ignore this. I take it Sry means "sorry" not wrongly typed "Try". If you know what I`m going on about.
Please teach me dude how do you make it to boot your own image. Ive changed the image path but still nothing.
Thanks!

Yo dude. I just checked it out.
Try: Start>settings>buttons
However, there is only 1 button that you can set (or maybe that what i know),
from the drop down menu, choose "camera". Viola!
Thru trial and error, i found out that the Button 1 is actually the call button.
Which means: press it once to go into phone mode, long press (hold) to activate camera. Hope that helps.

Hi,
I've owned the Xperia for a week and it's a great WinMo device. However unlike Touch Pro or Diamond, there's no registry tweak available to turn off the auto wake up on new sms feature.
I found it really annoying. Everytime a new SMS arrived when the phone was in my pocket the screen automatically turned on, and as I was walking my jeans' pocket continuously "touched" on the phone screen and accidentally opened bunches of programs and scroll up and down until it hanged.
It will be perfect to just make sound + vibrate, but keep the screen off, as I could do on Touch Pro.
Anyone knows of such a solution please do help!
I need to bump on that...
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
aint advanced config 3.3 working for that?
I was having this problem too... the only thing I changed to attempt to fix this was instead of pressing the power button to sleep the phone before I put it into my pocket, I press and hold the end key so that it locks the phone and dims the screen. The screen eventually turns off and it requires you to unlock the phone when you power it back on. When you receive an SMS or Email, the screen still lights up, but you have to press unlock, then tap unlock to start using it.
Yes, I have the same problem too and hope we can have the option to turn it off so that the screen will not lighted up when there is new sms or call.
Can someone work on this?
The registry key used for the tweak that works on Touch Pro does not exist, which is HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL

That option is for Touch Diamond and Touch Pro only, and it does not show on Xperia when you use Advanced Config. It's obviously related to the registry key mentioned above.
I have found the solution, just need to use any registry editor like the Resco Registry Explorer or the SKTools to edit the registry.
Dont want the device to wake up on new SMS ?
It still notifies you with sound/vibrate/LEDs, but the screen will not turn ON
Just add in the below line into the registry location :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
Has anyone tried this out to see if it works...???

I have tried it myself and it works, I don't have to worry that I might press anything on the screen when there is incoming SMS.
Thanks for getting back to me...

Im assuming when updating this key will be deleted and have to be put in again???

Not sure about yours but I do not have this key so I have to create a new one and it is working.

Does it need to be where the

are???

Sorted now and working well...
Thanks again
Put it in HKLM.
However Resco registry give me an error and doesn't create this dword. Very very strange...

Using your Registry Explorer an go to the below location :
Location in Registry : HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
Select "New" D_Word and you will be asked to enter the details :
Top portion just enter : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
and bottom portion just enter the value : 1
Save it and you should find the details there :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
For easier way, you can download the latest Xperia Tweak and it include the option to turn off the screen for any incoming sms.

I can confirm this solution works perfectly! I thought if the value does not exist means the device does not support it. Thanks chongbh!
