Hi
I have heard that the Tomtom one is crap, has anyone used any others with a low grief level in setting it up with tomtom3?
thanks
Tim
Where did you hear the tomtom gps was crap? its one of the best around, if you get the later one it also has a removable battery.
My boss uses one and is always getting fed up with it not connecting when it should. said i should see if there are any better ones on the market????
I have the Fortuna GPS ClipOn.
Works like a charm, especially in any configuration of windshield (athermic) which is not the case with the Tomtom one if your windshield has no specific area for devices such as GPS receivers.
you surely do not want to let your harm off the car holding the GPS
If the windsheild blocks signals you can put it in the rear of the car, I have mine on the parcel shelf.

TomTom's BT is manufactured by Leadtek and is a re-branded 9537, one of the best BT receivers available. TomTom's latest BT receiver now features a replaceable battery and SiRF Star III, one of the first available with this chip.
Other good brands arec GlobalSat, Fortuna and Emtac/Socket.
cheers everyone. perhaps ill just have to get a tomtom and tell my boss to stop moaning
I use a Holux GR-231, can be used BT or mouse. It has Xrac software and works a treat. I can even get a fix in my workplace, which is a factory with a metal roof, have a look here

I recently bought a Holux GPSlim236 and am delighted with it. Haven't tried anything else but this is great - you can keep it in the glove box and it still picks up the satellites !!

Hi guys, I need help with a GPS Antenna.
How can I set up a GPS Antenna on a TyTN?
there's no gps in the hermes, or at least there's no way of making the gps chip in the hermes work.....yet. see the wiki

Get yourself a gps reciever that connects via Bluetooth. I picked up a "AntennaGPS" 54 channel reciever for $65 australian on ebay and highly recommend it. You will need the gps software, I like Tomtom 6 or Miomap. You also have to have the maps. These programs WILL cost you but its wothwhile. You may also be able to find on the net for download BUT they are illegal copies. I'll leave it up to you to decide....
