dopod 900,change chinese os to english os?

im an enthusiast of dopod 900.
what can be the problems if one changes from chinese os to english os?
i am told that there can be some software incompatibilty.
the thing is i am getting a chinese rom at a very good bargain!!

you need to flush WWE I-mate ROM to get English OS , see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=31046&highlight=
and get ROM from here ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Universal

Flashing Chinese to English ROM (Works)

Does anyone have a copy of the english rom to upload to ftp://xda:[email protected] ? I'm planing to get a Dopod 818 Pro, but its in the chinese os.
Please advice

Just got a Dopod 818 Pro today its black, just put on the silicon case and screen protectors

Hi Edmont,
Did you flash your Dopod 818Pro yet to English? Did it work? I want a Silver one but only available in T. Chinese version. I want to know if there is any trouble with flashing it to the English version. Also would anyone know is the English ROM (shipment) version on Dopod's website will work in re-flashing a T. Chinese version to English?

Yea I got it working It was pretty easy Just use aWizard to unlock it first, then download the exe from the ftp, the file I used was Dopod818pro_WWE_1001321_10013102_11320_Ship.exe
Took about 5 minutes and my Dopod 818 Pro is now in English
Its faster and more snappy than the Chinese OS for sure

Hi edmondt, Just curious, any residual Chinese left after re-flashing. A few people reported some problems with a couple of programs did not port over with the new extended ROM from the re-flash. Just curious.
I have a Dopod 818Pro now (black) and just re-flashed it to the new iMate JAMin ROM. It worked! Just hope when I get my silver T. Chinese 818Pro all will go well with the re-flash on it...

I saw on one of your post that your were able to successfully change the Chinese OS to English OS of Dopod 818pro. I just bought one yesterday in Taiwan, and I would like to also change the OS to English. Would you kindly share with me a step by step guide on how to change the OS, as I am a newbie in XDA and I also cannot read chinese. Thanks in advance.

try this one which upload by me...
connect USB cable to XDA IIi and run the program 2 times until it finish, remine you must full charge the battery first....Hope this can help you....

my O2 2i cannot change to CHI from ENG according to your instruction. Could you mind describe in details ? i had tried twise....it show "Error 100: Model ID error".

finally, i could change the language to CHT ! Thanks laikei ! However, do you have O2 2i CHT rom ? because this is Dopod rom.....and for Tai Wan..but thanks again !

This ROM is suit for Dopod 699,Orange M1500,XDA LLi.
If your telephone is XDA LLi(699)(not XDA LL),You should use.

You will need to install a world wide english (WWE) rom on your device. Have a search through the forum on how to do this - there are plenty of posts about it.
