can someone please post a link to windows mobile 5.0 registry editor?
Two remarks:
Use a logical subject to get people to read your question. "tmobile mda" is NOT your question. In fact, your question is about a general WM5 subject, i.e. a registry editor. So "registry editor for WM5" would be a much better title, and people would know about your problem, merely by reading the title.
When you enter "windows mobile 5.0 registry editor" in Google, you''l get several useable links in the result list. It really isn't very hard Total Commander also has a built-in registry editor, which is quite sufficient for most tasks.

After reading everything on the site I don't think that I am ready or capable of flashing a ROM yet. I have been looking for specific solutions to small quirks that my TyTN has. I have seem some registry hacks/tweaks that I would like to try. I have Resco Registry. I see the codes and I can open the registry program but from there I have no idea what to do with those codes. Where does one input that information?
Here's some info on the registry as it applies to the TyTN: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry
As for basics of registry editing, a lot of the "editing" part of this article applies to mobile registries: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
And, for good measure, I'll just link you to the main page of the TyTN wiki, which has ROM upgrading info and a ton more: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Edit: A possibly-better Microsoft article on the Windows registry in general: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/256986
As we all know, a registry editor is pretty important when modding our devices. I personally hate doing registry edits on my wizard and it JUST SO HAPPENS that today while searching for a new registry editor (i lost my wizard in toronto a week ago and didnt have any software for it anymore!) i found one that works wonders and is based from a PC instead of the PPC. seems to work well for me. check it out! it is attached and it is freeware. it seems to work great with WM6 so i would say its safe to assume it will work with at the very least 5 also if not older versions of WM.
just thought id give back to the community since i have used this resource time and time again!
Total Commader and Task Manager, which come with many custom ROMs, already contained a full-featured registry editor with import/export functions, so why install another one?
this is not based from the PPC if you read my post. its much easier to navigate via your pc as i mentioned in my post.
Just use mymobiler. You can do EVERYTHING on your mobile from your desktop with that program. Then TotalCommander or another program can retain their value as multifunction programs capable of file management, text file editing, and registry editing.

personally as a geek myself, if there is an app that removes the actual interaction of the PPC and moves it into a native windows app id much rather use that. the problem with this app is it still mimics the physical interaction of the PPC. something the registry editor i posted above isnt doing. its mimicking regedit in windows but accesses your PPC.
just to prove my point here are two pics of examples.
can somebody make this a sticky for future reference...
i'm seeing lots of ways to edit the wizard registry and yet i can't find a post show how to access the wizard registry itself.. i need help..
You need a registry editor. Being someone who hates uni-task devices, I recommend Total Commander CE. It is a great file manager, has a built-in registry editor, FTP and LAN client controls, and an ASCII editor (Max 64kb). While many prefer Resco Explorer, I prefer FREE.
Total Commander CE Website/Download
HOW TO:
Open TC-CE.
Click \ (near the top) to jump quickly to the root.
Click \\Plugins
Click registry
You are now IN the registry. Navigate as needed, edit/delete entries, create new directories and new entries, etc. to your heart's content.
Disclaimer: Anything you do to your registry that bricks your phone is not my problem. If you don't know what you're doing, just DON'T.
Final Word: This doesn't need to be stickied. You need to use the search features. Most questions any newbie has have already been asked a hundred times, and while I don't mind answering them again, others may not be so friendly about it. (In fact, I have occasionally not been friendly about it, myself.)
I have seen the tips where you can speed up your phone by accessing these areas, how do i get to them?
Thank you
There was no need for a separate thread. You should have asked in the thread itself.
Anyways, You need to use some free registry editor like PHM Registry Editor.
Try a search with google.
Guys I know it was posted somewhere on here that you could create a shortcut to the default windows registry editor but I can't seem to find what directory it is in? I have searched and can't find any threads that detail this and can't find it in the windows or system directories (yes I am showing all files).
Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I am aware there is no 'built in' registry editor in windows mobile. There is one in desktop versions of windows like xp etc. There are plenty of free alternatives if you search around.
I am sure there was one on windows mobile or one that was free at least. There was a trial version of the resco explorer package that came with a registry editor but that was time bombed I believe (or was that just for the file explorer.exe)?
Any help on any free reg edit tools if the windows one isn't available?
by far the easiest and best way to edit the reg when at home is ceregistry editor which runs on the pc.
for free ones on the phone itself, people usually go for total commander.
Hi folks, I now recall which one I used (PHMregistry editor). So thanks for everyones comments. I like the thought of editing the registry from the PC so will give that a go also.
Once again many thanks.
