Hi, you Cingular and Tilt guys and gals. From the UK we have booked a Car Camping Tour using a hire car convertible.
Our Tour visits California Pacific Highway (Car Tour Start and End is Sacramento) heading South to Los Angeles then East to Arizona Grand Canyon, North Utah, Wyoming and at Oregon Seattle heading Pacific Highway South.
We plan going to plenty of KOA campground sites that boast Wi-Fi. Is it possible that anyone will recommend “Best Service Provider, and sensible cost, Wi-Fi, WLAN, PDA Wireles supplier”?
Is anyone going to tell me AT&T, iPass or Resco Explorer 2007 is favouroite
Come on instead of all the pointy headed development let us lighten up a little ok?
I learned today that my friend in California has replaced his router with a model that has WLAN just to accomodate a Brit with his iritating pocket pc!
Find out if your friend has AT&T DSL, if he does and it's 3-6mb he has free wifi access at any Starbucks or McDonalds, as long as he doesn't mind you using his DSL username/password...
Thank you, I have read a review identifying Starbucks replacing T-Mobile with AT&T. My friend does not have AT&T Wireles Router or an AT&T plan. I intend visiting AT&T Agent in Redding at the first opportunity and discuss my needs there.
I live in Brazil and I go to San Francisco and Portland at September 19th and back in october 2th.
I like to know what is the best carrier for a pre paid plan.
I have a Milestone 2 phone, so I just need a SIM Chip to use with my phone.
I think i will use much more data and less talk/SMS.
I hear about a carrier that can i talk free to Brazil, did anyone know which is?
tks!
I will be in Canada on vacation in March for 2 weeks. We will be on Vancouver Island. We will be in Victoria for a few days, before heading to Tofino for the Pacific Rim Whale Festival. I want to get a prepaid sim card to use with my N4 while on vacation (primarily for internet access). Couple of questions.
1) How much do prepaid sim cards cost? Can I get one for just 2 weeks or, if I have to, for one month. How much internet do they include?
2) Any carrier I should choose or stay away from?
3) Where do you buy them?
TIA
Nobody?
I don't know any of the specifics of going prepaid.
You can however just go into a Telus or Bell store, or Best Buy, Future Shop etc...and get a SIM and be up/running.
Telus: http://www.telusmobility.com/en/BC/prepaid/index.shtml
Bell: http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Cell_phone_plans/Prepaid_plans
Rogers: http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=WRLS_PREPAID_LANDING
I can't comment on who has coverage/best coverage on the island. I'm with Bell FWIW. And yes, cell phone costs are much higher than you're used to!
Enjoy Tofino, I've been there a couple of times.
just fyi, Rogers/Telus/Bell are the "big 3" carriers in Canada
Rogers also owns Fido and Chatr
Bell also owns Virgin and Solo Mobile
Telus also owns Koodo
These subsidiary brands might offer just slightly better plans. Though it seems like there's lots of competitions, be prepared to be offered the same plan across companies.
There's also Wind Mobile and Mobilicity that you could consider as their plans might be cheaper, but check the coverage.
Best places to shop around are those malls, as many carriers would setup booths that you could drop in and ask the details.
Have fun in Tofino
Hey all -
I'm taking a trip to Ontario coming up for a couple weeks. I've unlocked my AT&T S4 - just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the best option for purchasing a SIM to use while I'm there. Most important will be data (1GB or less) as I'm going to be doing a lot of driving and navigation will be important.

i've always been monthly subscriber, so i can't help much with the pay as you go part. If you plan on travelling north (north of northbay/sudbury area), stick to rogers/fido so that you can get 2g coverage, neither Bell nor Telus can offer that. If you are staying in the south end, go with whichever is cheapest as most of the areas have been blanketed with HSPA coverage.

I'm going to be in the "southern" part basically -- Southhampton / Sauble Beach / Toronto / Niagara

then go with whoever is cheapest for the pay as you go.
I'm traveling to Gran Canaria in June. We'll be staying just outside of Arguineguin and looking into Pre-Paid SIM cards to put into my American Unlocked Nexus 6P. So far my research is saying Orange has the best coverage and plan options (2GB) for a reasonable price. Does anybody from thats been to the area know of a better deal or better coverage? I put a few bullet points bellow
Stay away from Vodaphone since they use Band 20 and American model does not support
Bring Passport with me to purchase SIM since it will need to be registered
Coverage outside of cities is spotty at best
