Pls don't get angry on me.
I have the same sound/nomore calendarwarning at all/ and random alarm problem.
I downloaded, on you advice, pocketmechanic, and am now in front of the Notification Queue.
Can you tell me what I can delete and what I can't?
huib
You can delete CALENDAR and TASKS entries - they will re-add themselves. But rather not cos you have nothing to gain
\\.\Notification\.....SCRIPT... entries seem to cause problems. If they are due to activate soon, leave them alone. If they are due to go off in a few days, kill the little buggers. I think that many of them are registration checkers.
You WILL have duiplicate sddaemon entries with yellow icons. Kill them ALL and enjoy it!
You should find 1 of each of the follwoing:
- repllog
- \windows\calupd
- CALNOT
You will find 2 of each of the following:
- calnot
- clocknot
- repllog
ANything else is 'interesting'. Google it and kill it if it does not point to something u r happy with. I have never had one not sort itself out if it was required (eg weather updating - will come back when weather app next loads).
OK, so I did. Deleted 46 dups.
And than a soft reset:
Still 46 dups over there. But first:
The warning sound that comes up, starts before even asking for the Sim pin. Nearly immediately after soft resetting, this sounds comes up It keeps warning me for quite a time and then stops. I think it repeats about 8 times, but everytime with a slower interval between the (three tones) beeps. Do you think it should also be in that queue?
I really don't want to hard reset any more. It is so much work.
Before this problem started I had my battery drained , ignoring low battt warnings. Could that be the case? That the jasjar shuts down before properly handling the sounds?
The calendar does not warn anymore, so somewhere in this queue something is blocked?
Interesting, right?
Huib
Hell, not sure 'interesting' is the word I'd use. This sounds awful.
I did hear that running the battery empty is indeed bad for a Universal. But I think it was bad for the battery not for the ROM.
I don't understand why your duplicates come back! Post a list of the following:
- A few of the duplicates in detail
- An idea of what all these duplicates are (are they all the same)
- A list of progs in \windows\startup
- A list of installed apps (excluding games and things)
This is surely easy to solve. Let's see what we can do.

\windows\sddaemon.exe apprunAfterrestore action details: n/a
Notify when a device restore is complete. handle: 0x300056
and many more nearly the same but with handle 0x3a000055 or 0x3f000056 or idem but with 0x38000059 etc etc
Alle of the dups are in that list, close to each other. So they are more or less the same.
What about a suggestion to" Just remove sddaemon.lnk from \windows\startup\
then soft reset. it is ok"
from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=180017#180017
In windows startup: Poutlook and sddaemon + spb GPRS notify (GPRS is recently new, after the problems started)
progs: listpro, pbreeze ( But I did not have that installed when the problems rised the first time I had them) Pocketweather, Ewallet ( now removed) NR de Luxe,
Edited: oops , I forgot Agile. And I also forgot to say that I had many freezes, using Agile. So also here there could be a source of problems.

Create a new folder \windows\StartupDisabled, and move sddaemon here. Kill the duplicates, and soft reset. I can't imagine that they come back. Does this solve the startup issue. If not, you'll need to tell us exactly what else is running under notifications.
If it works, keep it like this for a few days and see if voice command still works OK. I'm trying myself right now after reading that post.

Sorry, but still dups ( 43 now)
And that stupiud warningn sound is still there. My right led keeps blinking, and I thought it should not blink.
A hard reset? (becoming suicidal)'
Huib
This does not make sense; we are going to check 3 things:
1) are u using PM correctly
2) are dups truly getting deleted
3) is the soft reset bringing them back
4) if so, let's stop it
1) Are you correctly using PM to remove dups? You need to TICK each item to be removed (each yellow icon), either manually or by clicking 'dups' button. You THEN have to click "remove" button. You MUST then check that dups have indeed been removed.
2) Exit PM, go back in and check they are not there. If they've come back, then you have a corrupted notifications queue that PM is not dealing with correctly. Hard reset I'm afraid - but look for another post I started on TIPS n TRICKS - it's not nearly as brutal as u think.
3) Now, soft reset - if they came back then it's the reset that's causing the porblem. If not, then you should be good. Is your SR going OK without the sounds now?
4) If they DO come back, then look for notification queue entires linked to "AppRUnAfterRestore" and tell us what they are.

Hell, this sounds awful. Only thing I can think of is to kill ALL sddaemon entries (you MIGHT then lose voice dial functionality) and try again. If they come back again, a hard reset may be the only solution. Sorry.

FIXED!!!

Subject: ! FIXED!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello All!
After 3 weeks of usage of my Qtek9000:
- all the Calendar notifications dissapeared (no text, no sound);
- the Alarms did have sound and vibra, but no text and Notification softbutton on the screen;
- alarms sounds could appear on their selfs on a random time and no Text on the screen.
I've searched the forum and it learned out that it is a Notification Que Issue.
It looks that upon a time, that que is being oversized or some mess (duplicates?) happened in it.
So, after that the "Notification Que" Issue appears.
HOW I FIXED IT:
1. Get the MemMaid \ PocketMechanic app;
2. find and delete duplicates, SoftReset (SR) (no success so far);
3. delete up to 200 CALENDAR.EXE entries, (SR) (no success so far);
4. delete up to 100TASK.EXE entries, (SR) (no success so far);
5. delete .\\notificatiopn.....script... entries, (SR) (no success so far);
6. delete all repllog.exe entries (2) and SR- IT WORKS AGAIN !!! ;
From this case - I dont know which of the manipulations actually brought my notifications back alive (is that really the repllog.exe entry?)
The possible longterm solution may be a 3-rd party App, which performs scheduled Notification Que clean up?
This is a very annoying and awfull BUG in the WM5 !!!
As I don't believe the fillowing ROM releases will fix this critical bug, the only way out - is developing the system app to perform a scheduled Notification Que clean up.
All, please, give your feed back: your experience, knowledge on the subject, etc.
Thank you.
My exec has gone nuts.
First, alarms stopped displaying the message boxes, and as I couldn't dismiss them, they went on for ages.
Now, I get my reminders through from weeks ago through, with no messages, all at once, in a mishmash of notification beeps, and voice command reading them out.
I really have no idea what could be wrong.
I haven't changed anything.
I'd love a fix which doesnt involve hard reset (and yes, I have soft reset it!)
Thanks,
Skelly

Check out MamMaid it has an option for clearing notifications.
Read my step by step guide in the following thread to fix your device - this guide does NOT involve a hard reset.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=60036
And do not use the built-in Clock/Alarm application any more, it is VERY buggy and almost certainly what has caused your problems (as it did on mine).
Thanks: it helped me also: at last solved a irritating problem. You are a great help!
What do people recommend as the best alarm clock program to use?
My alarm clocks stopped working so relying on the Universal atm to wake me up every morning but today one of my calendar reminders didn't go off and I nearly missed a 3 hour conf call (tragedy I know!!!).
G
I'm using SPB Time, a bit bloated at over 3MB just for what is basically a clock but it has everything you will need (clock, WORKING alarm, stopwatch, etc).
Seriously people stop using the built in clock/alarms app completely, it messes up your notifications queue over time making reminders not go off properly and all sorts of other unpleasant bugs which just get worse as your device gets older, which is why I suspect we are seeing more and more of these cases a year after the device was originally released.
It is unknown at this time whether or not these bugs are fixed in later WM5 ROM releases, although I suspect not...

Ho YES I know this problem well!!! It is a total Pain in the But.
I have tried most tings and the only thing thatw orked for me was a hard reset a finaly a ROM upgrade seems to have stopped the problem coming back AGAIn & AGIN . Well for now anyway.
I think SL9 has the answer I have not tried the exact method given But Did try Memmaid and It did not help. I did not however deselect the alarms first and did not do a Soft reset straight after. These may be the secrets to success. I have not had the problem recently (please NO MORE) so unable to try SL9 method but seems to have worked for many
Here is SL9s method Good luck and thanks to SL9
================================
Yes, I had this problem also. You can perform a hard reset, that will solve it but then you loose all your data and it is a pain! So I spent all day trying to find out how to fix it without doing a hard reset, and here are the results:
1. Open the Clock & Alarms app, and click on the Alarms tab. Make sure everything is unticked and unselected.
2. Install and launch MemMaid (http://www.dinarsoft.com/ - Note: MemMaid is shareware that expires after something like 30 days, or you might use another app which allows you to edit the notifications queue), and then press the Jump To softkey and click on the the Notification Queue option.
3. Press the Find Duplicate button, and make sure you say yes to deleting all duplicates.
4. Now you have to scroll through the list slowly, you must find all the ones which have this text in them and check the tickbox: \Windows\clock.exe.
5. Now you have located the rogue alarm notifications and ticked them, press the Delete button and confirm in the next step. Make sure you have NOT ticked/selected any other notifications except the clock.exe ones before you do this step, otherwise it can easily make your phone stop working!
6. Soft reset your device. When it has finished booting, you should notice that it doesn't vibrate madly with alarms for 20 minutes like it used to do before, and you should have a flashing green LED on the right instead of orange
7. Stop using the built-in clock & alarms app if you don't want this to happen again - it is too buggy! Find a replacement alarm app, there are loads of free ones out there!

Running the Memmaid Notification Queue.
I noticed that I have:
\\.\Notification\NamedEvents\Script:0x0
[it says something after that but I can't see it cause the window cuts off]
The problem is that this item is listed over a thousand times with a different date and time starting October 1, 2006 and running to October 23, 2006. So every day has a listing every 5-10 minutes.
October 1, 2006 9:05 am
October 1, 2006 9:10 am
and so on.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? Everytime I delete them, it's right back after a soft reset. Not all at once but each day another 50 are added.
You have a rogue script that is making all those notifications for you. It would have been from a program you installed but identifying which one is difficult. When i had this i ended up doing a hard reset.
Thanks meschle!
I kinda thought the same thing. Was tryin' to avoid that. Dis ting kinda slow down...
I have the same thing in mine. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Hi gldrush98 - it will slow the device down as it did mine - the notify.vol will slowly get larger and larger - so better of without them IMHO.
Meschle,
Do you think it would be possible to "just" delete these notifications (yep, my device have a lot of them too...) instead of doing a hard reset??
As far as I remember MemMaid makes this possible?!
:?
I'm not entirely convinced it's a bad script.
I think it's part of the phone and how it works.
My mxip_notify.vol file is only 124k.
If only I could read what the entire notification says. Arggggg

yes you can do that but if you have a rogue script they probably will return, but worth a go. Yes memaid will do this as will sktools and also the free check notifications (free) find attached.

I dont have any of these script notifications or any problem with the notification queue - so i dont think its a part of the phone. My mxip_notify.vol is only 32kb.
While Memmaid does show all the notifications you have to clear them one by one! Not good when you have over 700 to get rid of.
The program that meschle posted - Check Notifications - allows you highlight all the ones you wish to get rid of and press delete. The errand notifications I had were Script:0x0 types and Check Notification has a check box the will delete those as it does away with dups.
Thanks mecshle!!!
I've had my 8125 for over a year now and never really had problems. The last week or so it's been exhibiting some weird behavior.
The orange light, on the top [right light] is blinking constantly...once a second. I'm not connected to the net, wireless, or anything. What's that light for?
Also, I don't really know the pattern for the next problem. For example, when I hit the reset button with the stylus a minute ago, it reboots, and then it plays one of the alarm tones, the ringing bell tone, and it vibrates. It did this randomly for a few minutes.. gradually less frequently, until now, it's been about 5 minutes since it did it. I have no alarms set. It also does this in the morning when my alarms go off. It will do the ringing, and i can't get it to stop ringing. It's not doing it constantly [riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing], it will do the tone for the normal length [riiiiiiiiiing, riiiiiiiiiing], but I can't get it to turn off. I've tried everything short of uninstalling apps and the OS. If i'm gonna do that, i'm gonna put WM6 on it.
Thanks.
Sounds like you could have some alerts stuck in the queue. SKTools can remove them if I remember correctly (you can use the demo) and I'm sure someone will point you to a free alternative if this is the problem.

personally, i think it's a good idea to hard reset/flash new roms frequently - you never get problems and you clean out the junk you don't use. just get cabs for all your apps on an sc card
Ok, when I reboot, it freaks out.. rings, alarms, vibrates, etc. At first it does it alot.. then gradually is slows and doesn't do it.
I installed SKtools but I have no idea what to do now. Can someone help?
Ok, apparently I should have rebooted after installing SKtools, because there is now text on the buttons when there was none before. Still no idea what to do here.
Also, i've got the full version of sktools.
while you are waiting, search, download and and install the freeware 'scary bear check notification', easy to use, no hassle direct tool to solve your problem. Anyway, SKTool is good, keep it.

1) Load SKTools
2) If the help system comes up (does on first run I think) close it. You should now have a list of icons with descriptions.
3) Press soft button View -> Maintenance
4) Press Notifications Queue
5) By identifying notifications for dates in the past, delete these entries
See if that helps your problem.
Ya, there are a ton of things in that Notifications Queue.
There are alot of "\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\SCRIPT:0blahblah with a bunch of dates and times that repeat. Like, there are probably 20 2007/06/08 12:33 and 12:08's. I looked in my calendar and there's nothing that day.
Can I delete *everything* in that list? What would that do? I don't care about alarms. If they're on, it's by accident. The only alarm I use is the regular alarm at 3 times on workday mornings.
BTW, thanks so much for all your help. I'm rebooting right now to see if it still does it.
Holy crap! It didn't!!! Sweeeet! Thanks so much. I'll post again if anything weird comes up. Thanks again.
Background:
ATT8525 with the ATTWM5 Rom
All of a sudden no alarm will work on this device. I have SPB Time and City Time Alarm both installed and ever since Saturday morning my daily alarms do not sound.
Thought it was a fluke at first but I've been playing with it tonight trying several different times and nothing seems to work. I even tried the built in WM5 alarm and it didn't work either.
This isn't related to the no sound issue I've inquired about in the past as right now all my OTHER sounds are working.
I've also done multiple soft resets and I've checked and double checked that my phone has the correct time and time zone.
Any ideas?
Thanks
It sounds like you have some duplicate/out of date/bad notifications in your notifications queue.
First do a full backup (just in case) then:
You need to use a 3rd party app such as Checknotifications (free), Memmaid, SK tools.
Use one of these to eliminate duplicate notifications and see if things start working again. If not, unfortunately you will have to go through each one manually. Look at the ones beginning Calendar and Clock. Make sure that the time/date for these is in the future. Delete the ones that are not. Leave alone the other notifications some of these are necessary for other processes.
See if it works now.
If not, you may have to do a hard reset. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.
Memaid did the trip as it was a built up queue of notifications. Not sure what caused that but at least it's fixed without having to do a hard reset.
This never happened with my 8125, strange.
Also, this fixed a couple of other issues I was having.
My 8525 had stopped pairing with my automobile's BT and it did this morning, and the last few days the phone and stopped doing the first active sync of the day (at 0700) automatically. It did this morning.
Looks like I may check into purchasing Memaid. It's a handy little program.
I have to admit, it's one of the first apps on any device I own. Especially now that it has a reg editor too.
Beware, you may need to do the notifications queue clearout quite frequently, just keep an eye on it for a day or 2. I've found that if you use windows live mobile, this puts 3 or 4 duplicates on your system at every soft reset! Don't you just love microsoft applications?

Oh thank you.
At first I thought you all were just ganging up on my since I'm across the pond from you all. <G>
Kinda back to my original question.
What is up with the Notification Queue? I currently have 37 "time based" entries. A few of these are obvious. But I have a whole mess named "\\.\Notifications\NamdedEvents\Scripts:0x0023B3D0" and a couple of dozen more with similar hexadecimal(?) endings.
They are all "dated to run" on September 26, 2007 at various times of the morning.
The thing is, nothing is in my calender on that date. So what in the world are those entries? Are they safe to delete?
Thanks
Don't mind us, if you play with Windows mobile, you just have to have a laugh as often as possible (makes up for all the crying!).
On your alarms/reminders/notifications etc, do you have the setting on for 'flash light'? If so, do you have this set for no limit? If so, I think these are your scripts as above. If they are set as no limit, I think they go on for around 40 days or so. So probably they relate to an event 40 ish days before 26 September.
They might also relate to some other software you are running. I understand TomTom puts some strange notifications in.
If so, they are PROBABLY fine to delete. As long as you do a full backup before touching them, then if it all goes pear shaped, just restore your backup.
Whatever you do, don't touch the repllog.exe entries. These relate to activesync and if you delete these, you will have a lot of trouble with synchronising.
If, however you do accidentally delete a repllog file that you should't, Mike has written an excellent guide on how to get it back!

Thanks. I think the message notification thing is the reason. I do have the flash light checked and their seems to be a correlation between the entries and the number of messages I currently have in OL.
Thanks again for all the help!
Hopefully I can return the favor sometime.

I hope by now you have solved your (our) problem. I was able to fix my problem by installing a free program from Burr Oak called Wakeup Tweak.
I never ever RAN the program - I just installed it. During installation, it asked me if I wanted to use default notifications and I said yes.
I then tested an appointment alarm (before running Wakeup Tweak) and the alarm worked.
Hey there... I used to have the same problem under WM5 (I think it was a known fault and the idea was to fix that for WM6). My reminders didn't work, and my alarm, initially came on but I could not dismiss it, and so came back on the moment I switched my phone back on etc. I found that using Pocket Mechanic and then deleting all 'clock.exe' entries i which have the word obsolete added under the type column solves the problem. I think some people have experienced problems doing this and it messed up their device. I, personally, never had any problems but you may want to back up things just in case. Again, it's not a long-term solution and I had to do that every couple of weeks. The deleting of duplicate notification did not, for me, restore reminders etc. I have to say ever since I upgraded to WM6 I have not had this problem so I guess Microsoft fixed this issue.
