How to use Phone speakers of device - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello,
I have noticed that there are two speakers in devices, one for Playing media file (loud speakers) and one for cell call. Whenever wave APIs are used it works only on loud speakers. Is it possible to play media files on cell speakers? I tried to find number of speaker devices using APIs but it always give me 1 device and 0 mixer.

Question about BT headset

Hi,
I have never owned a BT headset before, so I have some questions if you are willing to help me.
If I read some specifications (for example from Jabra BT8010), a BT headset could have 2 modes :
- Phone mode (mono)
- Music mode (stereo)
What is exactly the music mode? Does it mean that it controls Windows Media Player?
Or it has its own media player?
How if I want to play VIDEO (using Tcpmp for example), can I use the Music mode?
Mostly I will use the BT to watch movie and play games ....
PS: Do you use Jabra BT8010 with Kaiser? How is it?
Thanks,
since i know how frustrating it can be not to get an answer..maybe you prefer a soso answer to no answer...;-):
i used to have a stereo headset nokia hs-12 or so...but this is already some time ago...
so the way it basically works: upon pairing it will say that it supports music and phone.
depending on the layout of the headset (and the achieved compatibility with the handheld device) you will be able to control some to most features of the media players in the device. like play, pause vol up vol down, FF, RWD.. my headset worked well with windows media player, also with resco radio..tcpmp i did not have at that time yet.
hope this gives you an idea.
Andy
I think the difference is that the Phone Mode or Mono mode means that there is only ONE audio channel... suitable for making and receiving calls while the Music mode or Stereo mode means that it has TWO channels which is suitable for headphones because they have to channels.
Phone Mode BT devices can play your music but only out of one channel and in all cases Phone Mode BT devices only have one ear plug.
Music Mode BT devices can play your music or any sound for that matter out of both channels which is why they are in headphone form with two ear plugs.
MONO=1
STEREO=2
This is my take on this but please correct me if I am wrong as I would too like to get to the bottom of this.
actually that is not correct.
the so called A2DP profile is AFAIK only supported by stereo BT headsets/headphones. a mono headset will NOT get any audio sound under normal circumstances. However one can tweak the registry -and there is also software that does it - in order to direct the audio output to the headset.the price for this being, that as long as this function is active, voice dialling from the headset will not work, since this is the function that is being used to switch the audio gate.
Now, in the case of the 8010 this should be different, since it is basically a stereo headset with a detachable 2nd earpice. this one should therefore always work in A2DP mode and therefore enable audio throughput without any further tweaks.
I just picked up a BT8010 yesterday -- my local Fry's had them half-price. Stereo performance is pretty good, but there's a bit of skipping (i.e. momentary dropouts of the audio). There's a firmware update available from Jabra -- that may help.
Haven't had the chance to use the BT8010 as a phone headset yet, so I can't address that.

Re-Route sounds per application?

Is there anyway to reroute the sounds from a certain application to the headset speaker vs the speakerphone speaker?
I never use Windows Media player for anything but checking my YouMail.com voicemails (they come to my phone in an mp3 via email) and would love to have the sound come through the headset speaker instead.
I use HTC Audio Manager for mp3s though and don't want to change that at all.

[Q] bluetooth headphone don't work with Netflix app

Motorola bluetooth headphones work perfectly while listening to music but not while trying to play a movie in Netflix app. The audio is heard through the external speaker. any ideas?
same issue problem here with external bluetooth speakers
not working here too....
I guess it's an app problem. May be Netflix needs to send the output to the default audio output device instead of the (hardcoded) speakers?
I use a mac and had the same problem. So I used the Line In app for mac and Sound Flower.
Once Soundflower is installed, go into the mac sound settings, and change output to Soundflower (2ch) or (16ch). Whichever you want
Turn on the Line In app, and divert the Soundflower channel to the Bluetooth headset.
The sound quality is crap, but it's a work around if you need it. Also, my headset turned off a few times after about 15 mins of use. Guessing the mac or headset is recognizing a signal since it's kinda sent sneakily. So it probably registers as idle.
What does a MAC's BT issue have anything to do with Windwos phone's problem?
BTW, I did some testing. Even with NoDo update, using the built in Zune Video player, I can't send the audio via A2DP to a BT headset. So, it seems the limitation is inside WP7 OS. There is NO A2DP support for any video players.

Bluetooth

Is there a way to modify the bluetooth code so that the "ear peice" via "bluetooth" will also give you "music" etc....
I mean if the phone detects the ear peice and plays all the calls thru the ear peice..... why cant it be hacked to also play internet music....
Thanks in advance....
pm me a fix... flame in public...
Actually, I too would like to know if this is possible. Why can't it just be detected as wireless "headphones/headset".
Although I'm using an iPhone 4 so I'm sure that it'd be more difficult to do this if it is possible.
Should work

It depends on the activity the app code is running on the host device. All audio is able to be routed to the headphones. What kind of phone are you using?
It's not as simple as wired headphones. BT has something called profiles - each profile is for doing some particular thing - like transferring files, playing music, making calls, etc. For a particular feature to be supported, both the phone and the headset has to support that particular profile. Most android versions have support for most common profiles.
Calls are possible through profiles called HSP/HFP and stereo music is possible through profile called A2DP. Most of the mono headsets which are mainly for calling support only HSP/HFP and not A2DP - that's main reason you can't play music on most mono headsets. If you buy stereo BT headsets, they come with both HSP/HFP and A2DP - meaning they can support both calls and audio.
There are apps / hacks to stream music from an android phone to a mono headset through HSP/HFP. I've never tried any - you can look for those if you want to play music on your mono BT HSP headset.

Are you able to connect the device to a computer or tablet? I think it would depend on the drivers on the device you're connecting to. What are you trying to connect to? Does it detect your earpiece?
its a jabra bluetooth ear peice.
and theres several "mono" bluetooth apps on the market/play store.
I happened to try blue tooth mono router and it works fairly well.
seems to use aprox 3 to 5% of battery in aprox 15 to 20 mins.
:good:

BT ringtone on car handsfree

On my car BT hands free I noticed that when my i9500 rings, regardless the custom Rom i have installed (cm or touchwiz, mostly touchwiz since cm suffer from many issues in BT lately.. )
The car uses an annoying default ring tone for incoming calls, resulting in 2 different ring tones. One from my cell and the one from the multimedia system.
I almost though it due to my poor wince5 multimedia system in my car (a2dp compatible)till i have connected an iPhone 6 which delivers the ringtone you have set In your phone.
Does anyone know of a way to make BT transmit the correct ringtone ?
Usually the ringtone on the BT is physically house on the BT. Its not an audio file that the phone is transmitting.
When the phone sends the BT the siglnal that its ringing the BT plays its own audio ringer file.
In other words tou have to change the ringtone on the BT.
This is USUALLY the case. It is not ALWAYS the case
There are no ringtone/ringtype settings on the multimedia system at all.
I wonder how iPhone does succeeded out of the box transmitting the its internal ringtone..

There are no settings on your device because ringtone is not selectable. But there is a ringtone file on the device. I assure you.
I'll look for that. Thanks.
