I did do a quick search, but couldn't find owt, but can't believe I'm the only person with problem.
I use the supplied Clock & Alarms for my alarm clock, but sometimes if I'm using something else on the phone, or already have notifications like missed calls when my alarm is due to go off, if will still sound, and vibrate, but won't come up with a message about it. Giving me no option to turn the thing off!!!
So it will go off fow a minute or two, then go quiet, then every five minutes will repeat, again with no message.
Even if I reset the device it will still continue.... I either have to wait for a message to come up, which can take 30+minutes, or if I get really annoyed with it clean reset it :-/
If anyone does know how I can get rid of this error, or what file I can load to give me the message, it will be much appreciated!!!
alarms and repeating alarms are well known to be highly unreliable.
spb pocket plus has an add in to assist with repeating alarms, but I never found it much help.
may i suggest you dont repeat them, this is a big problem.
mine got so bad after a while I had no choice but hard reset. it messed up all the system notifications and just became plain unreliable.
Yes, I've had exactly the same problems and also with Spb Pocket Plus repeating alarms too.
I've since disabled this option which has made things bettr but still not perfect

at least your alarm goes off, mine does not. an expensive device like the xda exec and a simple thing like the alarm wont work after new o2 rom update
:? :?
Does that mean if I use alarms, but don't select "repeat sound", that may be better?
I upgraded to the i-Mate ROM, and TWICE now the notification queue has died for the calupd.exe and calnot.exe. Adding appointments with alarms make no additions to the notification queue, hence I miss all my alarms.
The only fix so far has been to hard reset, and wait for the next time the notification queue dies.
Are you using Sprite Backup?
I found it to be the culprit and I have switched to SBP Backup now.
Sprite CRMdesk will give you a patch "PostBootPopup.exe" if requested that helps the problem. It solves the many notifications in the queue that can't be cleared or dismissed normally. But the issue of not waking for any alarms remained for me with Sprite 5 - even with this patch.
works perfect for me!
I just added my own sound file which has a little more agressive waking properties ;-)
If you're stuck with an invisible alarm you cant get rid off, you can use scarybear's "check notifications" proggie and take out the notification which has messed up....

Where is this please?

But be warned, if you are careful it can work, but I got aggressive and frustrated.
The only, hard reset. There are some you can, some you cant.
Bewarned.

Under Sounds & Notifications, when one selects "Reminders", there is a tick box called "Repeat".
Presumably this means that when an alarm sounds, it should repeat until dismissed. Mine only plays once. Am I missing something?

Hi there,
Mine's a XDA Exec, and it does repeat although it pauses for about a second or two first. Not nearly loud or persistent enough to be a really decent alarm clock though!
OK, so it seems that aeAlarmPlus is the way to go - looks for an alarm and then comes up afterwards to do a repeating/escalating thing of it's own. Works well.
hi there
ok if u talking about alarms then go to clocks & alamrs --- go to alarm tab then set the time whet ever u want to set then click on the "BELL" icon
there is the option to make it repeat and even u can chose the sound

Yeah, I am using it too.
My problem is that I cant kill the alarm. It gets repeating and I am getting more and more mad. Or is this on purpose ? as I have to wake up and tick the box of with the stylus....
Anybody has the same problem?

Playing with alarms may have been the reason why my calendar was not able any more to remind me.
When soft resetting even alarms of all kind made me mad.
I hard reset (horrible job with a lot of work to do) solved my problem, but I do not touch the alarm any more.
Hope your problem is different

i have the same problem. It goes off every time and repeats for a couple of times and I dont see any option to close/kill it.. good thing I still have te sense not to bang it against the wall like an alarm clock.
i guess if the built in alarm function is not working or it goes crazy, just use any other free alarm application. i know theres a lot of free application out there.
the phone will not stop alarming and it does not give me the option to turn off the alarm or even see the notification. I have tried a soft reset and also turning off all alarms, along with the notifications and sounds settings. If I turn all the sound settings down to zero the phone does not audibly alarm but it still vibrates, even though the vibrate feature is turned off. All started when I dropped my phone.
I cannot figure out how to fix this, and its driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having this same problem right now and it is very annoying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a notification problem - use check notification to delete duplicate notifications (only delete these not all of them) Click options/settiings and tick both boxes. There may be a null notification that is often a problem that you will need to click on and delete.
Run exe on pc desktop after activesync your device.
how do you get there
I cannot find the area that you are talking about. can you give a more detailed way of getting to that area with the names of the windows that I need to click on? Thanks,
Dave

I assume the program is installed on your device. Click on check notifications icon in startmenu\programs. Click on options then settings and tick remove duplicate events box and remove script 0x000 box then ok. Then click clear and it should clear all duplicate notifications for you.
I actually had the exact same problem on my 9100. After a couple of days I simply went ahead and made a hard reset....and havent had the problem since
Jakob
I had this problem a couple of times as well. Clearing duplicate notifications (using CheckNotifications or MemMaid) and the offending notification does NOT solve the problem. It will stop the errant alarm, but the next time one of your regularly scheduled alarms goes off, you will have the exact same problem. It's as if there's some error in the program which is responsible for creating the little box with the alarm message in it and switching the left soft key ot a dismiss button.
So unless you plan on never again using your alarm clock or setting reminders for anything, jacking with the notifications will not solve the problem.
The only way I have been able to fix the problem is with a hard reset. I'm sure there has to be some other way, but I sure haven't found it yet.
Is there a cure for this or no? I just downloaded check notification and ill give it a shot, but so far it shows no duplicate alarms on my system which i find hard to believe...
Did you tick both boxes in the options and delete a notification called null - have to click and hold to delete it. The alarm notifications are under clock.exe - delete all manually if not showing up duplicates. (click and hold)
Don't use WM 5 alarms at all
I use ActiveKitten's Chronos Alarms - no worries at all!
I also had this problem and a hard reset was the only thing I could do. Afterwards I restored my backup and never had the problem before.
I've tried the alarm function (Settings/System/Clock/Alarm), but it wasn’t reliable. So I switched it off again.
Now I here the alarm everytime I reboot my MDA Pro.
What’s wrong?
Try checking your "Notification Queue" for a calendar/alarm entry which hasn't been cleared. You can use software such as Memmaid or SKTools to view this. I personally prefer the first one.
Click on the first notification and see when this was due - if this falls in the past you should be able to just delete this.

Tnx! - Worked...

wow that sound like the problam i had a while back. i would get tons of random alarms right after a reboot. but it went away after i removed BBConnect., but come to think of it i stopped using the alarm clock at the same time too. i wonder which one it was.
I have captivate that runs on Firefly froyo ROM. I have an alarm set in my phone that is supposed to sound every morning. But when I reboot my phone everytime for replacing the spare battery, the alarm is not re activated. In simple works, alarm scheduled to sound everyday does not reactivate itself after reboot. Have to open the alarm, disable it and again enable to reactivate it.
Any solution for this. Also any app that solves the problem? Same thing happens with calendar reminder events. After reboot, the calendar reminder events do not work. HAve to go to the calendar app for it to activate. Any alternate apps for the problem?
All of a sudden, my XDA no longer saves settings for my phone or for reminders. For example, I have to constantly change my ringer to Vibrate and Ring, then (after a reboot I'm assuming) it changes back to just Ring.
For reminders, Flash Light and Play Sound (one of the most important things!) have to keep getting rechecked after a reboot. I'd rather not rebuild as I have a LOT of apps on this device.
Does anyone know of reg settings or any other way to get this to stop resetting?
Thanks in advance,
Marc

Im having the same problem i think!
My phone keeps vibrating without playing a ringtone, even though its set to "Vibrate and ring".
it's like its always on "vibrate mode", no matter what i try to do.
what rom are you using??
I am using the O2 ROM upgrade straight from their site. It was fine for the longest time; just noticed it about a week ago.
It could be something in your notification queue, this is the cause of most alarm/reminder/profile problems. I recently posted a long and detailed HOWTO for anyone that needs to fix or just spring clean their notification queue, check it out:

I haven't added or changed any apps recently. But today, my phone has started sounding the default notification tone about every 3 minutes or so, any time I have a notification icon on my phone. Sometimes even when there's no icon displayed. The only way I've been able to get it to stop is to turn off ALL notifications in ALL apps.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this before, or have any idea what I might look at?
Thanks.

You can try to silent the sound settings/sound/silent
um....why not restart .-. could just be a glitch what are your installed apps if u dont mind me asking.....
I've restarted multiple times. I'm not exactly new at this. Restarting did nothing. As I said, the only way to stop it is to turn off all notifications.
However, after trying lots of things, I used the "Reset settings" option in the Backup and Restore menu. That seems to have resolved it. I still have no idea what triggered it, as I haven't change any settings in weeks.

Yeah, that might have worked, but I didn't want to silence all notifications, just the meaningless, repeated sound that didn't appear to be tied to anything specific.
