Switching between QWERTY and QWERTZ - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Guys can you help me with with this? The keyboard types in German (QWERTZ) and I would like to use it in English (QWERTY). What should I do? Is it necessary to upgrade the ROM version to do achieve that?
I am writing this post on behalf of a co-member in another forum. Thanks in advance

Come on, guys, doesn't anyone have any idea :?

I sold my wizard so try changes in registry:
UK/US layout (QWERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1033 (DWORD decimal)
German layout (QWERTZ):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1031 (DWORD decimal)
French layout (AZERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1036 (DWORD decimal)
Other codes: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx
Other sollution: check- edit "sym.txt" in windows ( edit on your PC and back to PDA)
Sollutions the same like for Universal

Thanks, mate, but I don't have a locale named key in the Keybd folder. What am I doing wrong? Or is it that I just didn't get the idea correctly?
Please clarify! Thanks in advance

try creating it
then soft-reset

Universal HOW TO CHANGE KEYBOARD MAP ???

Hi,
I've an Imate JASJAR with Italian software installed although the WWE english version seems to be upgraded respect to the Italian version.
Anyway I'm looking for some tricks to change the keymap of the hardware keyboard because now I've all the Simbol keys wrong, ratically the hardware keyboard is an English keyboard and with the Italian software installed for example when I'll try to write the "?" by pressing FN + ? the device write "-" .
Same thig for many other keys, almost all key are wrong, so I would like to know if there's a method or if I can change some files to get the correct english keyboard map into the Italian software version that is currently installed.
I'll be very grateful for any help.
Thanks.
Best regards,
MB
Hi,
from WikiTweaks:
----------------------
Change slide-out keyboard layout
If you have a Device from one country, but would like to use the keyboard layout of another, you can change the keyboard's language setting to do so...
For US layout (QWERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1033 (DWORD decimal)
For German layout (QWERTZ):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1031 (DWORD decimal)
For French layout (AZERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1036 (DWORD decimal)
_For other codes, see: http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/winxp/xp-lcid.mspx_
Hi,
thank you very much for the reply but the trick don't work on the Universal, the registry entry Locale don't exist, shoul be somethig regarding this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
but actually I've not found the method to get it work.
I'll be very grateful for any other help.
Best Regards,
MB

4. edit - Layout in decimal to 66567 (from 66569)

german and english keyboard

hello
what are the differences between German and English keyboards?
only "z" and "y" are switched?
i don't believe it... noone knows? :shock:
You have a few changes:
For US layout (QWERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1033 (DWORD decimal)
For German layout (QWERTZ):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1031 (DWORD decimal)
For French layout (AZERTY):
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale = 1036 (DWORD decimal)
It's the difference in SYM.txt file ( possible to edit)

Thanks

3 simple steps:
First Step:
Using Total Commander go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\
And open this key:
"AvailableLanguages"
These are the default Values:
0109,010C,0107,0110,010A
Add the language you want to use.
ie: Portuguese is 0116:
0116,0109,010C,0107,0110,010A
This is the list of most used dictionary codes:
0105 = Czech
0106 = Danish
0107 = German
0109 = English
010A = Spanish
010B = Finnish
010C = French
0110 = Italian
0113 = Dutch
0114 = Norwegian
0115 = Polish
0116 = Portuguese
011D = Swedish
010e = Hungarian
0118 = Romanian
0108 = Greek
Second Step:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles\
Add a new key with the name of the language you want. Then in value add the filename of the dictionary you want to link the language to. Here's a list of the dictionaries: (ie: 0116 for Portuguese = PTlsUN_xt9.ldb)
ARlsUN_xt9.ldb (Arabic)
CSlsUN_xt9.ldb (Serbian)
DAlsUN.ldb (Denish)
DElsUN_xt9.ldb (German)
ELlsUN_xt9.ldb (Greek?)
ENlbUN_xt9s.ldb (English)
ESlsUN.ldb (Spanish)
FIlsUN.ldb (Finnish)
FRlsUN_xt9s.ldb (French)
HUlsUN_xt9.ldb (Hungarian)
ITlsUN.ldb (Italian)
NLlsUN_xt9.ldb (Dutch)
NOlsUN.ldb (Norwegian)
PLlsUN_xt9.ldb (Polish)
PTlsUN_xt9.ldb (Portuguese)
ROlsUN_xt9.ldb (Romanian)
RUlsUN_xt9.ldb (Russian)
SKlsUN_xt9.ldb (Slovak)
SVlsUN.ldb (Swedish?)
TRlsUN_xt9.ldb (Turkish)
Final Step:
Now you just need to soft reset your phone and you change the language you added in the XT9 menu.
Take care
Hi,
This is for WP7?
Regards,
This isn't a WP7 forum; everything here is WM 6.x or earlier (with very, very little content for WM5 and earlier).
I have been having a look at the registery keys for the XT9. Is there any reg keys that you can change to change the default setting from XT9 to ABC mode? I would like to enable ABC mode at that very start. I know it is a simple matter of clicking a button on the screen but hey!
