I have the option on my "Today" screen to lock the device via tapping "Device unlocked." Is there a way to remap the Mail button or the Internet Explorer button on top of the phone to lock the device?
Thanks.
hoxbox: there is.

has anybody yet found a way to move the "device unlock" function from the today screen to a hard button?
to remove it from the today screen you go to:
Start>settings>Today then items on the bottom and then uncheck device lock.
to move it to a button, i dont know, but what i do is press the power button once and its locked.. just make sure you go to start>settings>buttons then lock on the bottom right and select "lock all buttons except power button"
also theres a way you can do it so it prompts you for a password after you press the power button.
i know how to remove it from the today screen, thanks
but your way turns off the display,
the whole point of the "device unlock" function is the screen is locked but the display still on.
This has been discussed in a few other posts.
I recently looked into this and from the look of it, the functionality is built into the WM5 ROM as it looks like there is no specific exe file that matches the today screen lock function.
Theres a few reg keys that look like they're related to this but none of them have an exe file associated, only dll's.
Chris
I was messing around the button settings, and it seems like the the only button that can do "press and hold" is button 5.
what I would like to do is program the side "ok" button to press to lock, press and hold to unlock. Any registry gurus or savvy hackers here know if this is possible?
TIA
The Mogul comes with the option of using the power button as a "lock" for the other buttons. You can choose when the device is off to only respond to the power button being pressed.
I think what he is looking for is a button method of initiating the "device lock" application that can be added to the Today screen.
The problem with just using the power button is that if you accidentally press the power button then all the other buttons and screen will work. He's trying to actualy lock the device with a button.
you are almost right ebmorgan, except that you CAN map a button to <lock device> under settings-->buttons, but you CANNOT map a button or map the press and hold button to <unlock device>.
I tried AE button plus, it gave me a lot more options button wise, but still doesn't have a <unlock device> function built in.
My bad....I didn't notice you said "unlock". I was think of locking.
spb software makes a program called "SPB Mobile Shell" and can be found here http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en
This does exactly what you want! The left softkey will lock the device, and the right softkey will unlock it, instead of hitting cancel on screen or the * key.
Although i run this program, but not this option, is because of the "now screen." Which comes up no matter what, when you wake up the device or unlock it, which kinda sucks for what i want.
anyhow, if it's cool for you, then get it and enjoy!
go into the Now screen settings in mobile shell. You can uncheck display now screen box.
The question remains... is there a way to map a program to the "ok" key on the side of the Titan? It really doesn't do anything and its not in the button options. It would also be nice to have the hold option available to the other keys.
Yep, you can uncheck the display now screen box, but then you won't be able to make the right soft key unlock the device, it goes back to "press cancel or *"

Me too! I'm looking for a tweak that will unlock my device by press-and-holding a button. The default 2-step unlock of Windows-Mobile is so annoying especially during bright outdoors.
S2u2 doesn't work for me because you need to swipe the screen to unlock which is bad for less sensitive screens. And it doesn't have transparency so it covers the current app.
Hi all,
I've had my t-mobile touch plus for about a week. Loving the device. One thing I would like, and think it is availble on other touches, is the ability to put a "lock device" soft button on the today screen. I know that you can use the red button to open a quick list or set it to lock the device but I use it to disconnect from data. I also know that you can go to a lock device in the HTC today screen options, and the ability to use the slideaction program to lock the device by closing the slide. All I want is, like on my vario II, to be able to directly lock the device from the today screen. The option is not in Start>Settings>Today>Items. Please help. Cheers in advanced.
I assigned the lock command to a soft key with "Soft Key" program (that's its name). make a search for it on the board.
Hi all,
I just can't find an answer to this.
I would like to map the "Device Unlocked" function to a button on the phone - that is, press a button to lock the phone.
Is this available as a Windows file that I can map to a button?
TIA
If you download Batterystatus (plusplus), there's a "Device Lock on wakeup" function, so when you press the off button on the side to suspend the device the keys lock. Does that help?
Thanks - I'll try it.
I've done this with the program HButton...to programm a 1 second hold button to lock the device....programm the 1 second hold function to the program devicelock.exe ....you'll find that programm somewhere here....and also HButton....working great!
Got it installed and working.
Brilliant, thanks.
As a tip from another thread, I downloaded BatteryStatus also, and installed it. After that, I copied BSDeviceLock.exe from my Windows dir to the SD card and made a shortcut to the Start Menu.
After that you can map it to any button you like in the normal button setting panel
Hi,
It is possible to power on the HD2 and direct jump to Unlock Screen without pass through the Slider page?
The slider page is the lockscreen?
If you're looking for something that when you press the power button you go straight to your homescreen instead of having to unlock it then search for 'No Lock' in the market. Should do the job.
