Is there a way/software that helps gprs to stay connected all the time even if device goes standby?
I remember I had a GPRS Setting software at JAM, where it had this option like 'always stay online'
Nothing?
Yes, there is a registry tweak to keep gprs always on...check the wiki for uiniversal or wizard
Thanks. Here it is:
GPRS always on
If you want your GPRS (or EDGE) connection to always be on, set the following:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\|gprs connection name|\AlwaysOn = 1 (DWORD decimal)
And to turn it off:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\|gprs connection name|\AlwaysOn = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Note that |gprs connection name| will depend on the name you've given your GPRS connection
BUT!
Although I change the value to ''1'', after closing Resco Registry Editor and open again, I see it is still ''0''.. I had the same problem with some other hack. So it seems i can not change or permanently save what I change. You think this is caused by Resco Registry Editor? Should I try some other software or do I forget to do something???

I recently purchased a Cingular 8125, upgrading from a SX66. On my SX66, I could connect or disconnect my connection by tapping on the [G] and selecting 'Connect GPRS'. I am wanting that same thing on my Wizard. How do I enable this? Is it a registry value?

If you configured GPRS it will automatically connect when nescessary.
And if you want to disconnect the GPRS connection, just hold the "end call" key for a couple of seconds.
Add a 'Disconnect' button (and Timer) to the Connection List for GPRS
To add a Disconnect button:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 8 (DWORD decimal)
To add a Disconnect button and a timer display showing how long GRPS is in use for the session:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 16 (DWORD decimal)
To disable both the Disconnect button and the timer:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Flags2 = 0 (DWORD decimal)

I use SBP GPRS Monitor - very usefull program
The holding down of the endkey is so simple. Thanks!
Connect
This program connects to GPRS
what does this gprs program do when it's connected?
It simply connects to GPRS when you tap on it.
Better put the icon in the start menu
Does it also disconnect? Because I could use something like this.
VJVolubilis will connect and disconnect GPRS and a ton of other stuff.

does anybody know how to disable gprs disconnecting by pressing the red phone button. during a gprs session you can disconnect by pressing this button. that may be useful for some people, but my provider charge me every time i accendently press the red phone button. that happen often, if i press the button twice after a phone call..

GPRS always on
If you want your GPRS (or EDGE) connection to always be on, set the following:
PHP:

I've got an 8525 (WM5) and read the WM5 Wiki regarding editing a reg key to enable connection of "g" only wifi points. Am I to enter new names/values? I currently only have one entry under Parms: WME_Enable
As the description below gives a default string, which is not currently in my registry, I am a bit confused about what I need to do.
The following is stated on the wiki:
While the phone by default only connects to 802.11b WiFi networks, it is capable of connecting to 802.11g WiFi networks as well, once this is enabled:
HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMask = 1 (DWORD decimal)
HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMaskG = 8 (DWORD decimal)
To set back to default:
HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMaskG = 4 (DWORD decimal)
the 8525 has a "g" chip so it always connects to a g network if available. The reg edit is for older devices which only have a "b" chip so it wouldn't even connect in at b speeds to a g router. Since most/all g routers offer a b connection this made it possible for the Hermes to see the g router and at least connect at b speed.
Thank you, wpbear, that explains the single-entry in my registry.
Hi all there doesn't seem to be the same reg key on the Hermes as there was on the Wizard. Is it possible(I did search but didn't find anything) to edit a reg key to keep my data connected when I'm running in EDGE and 3G?
give this a try:
