Usa Maps Not Working

Hi Guys,
I have TOMTOM v5.12 running on my xda mini s, and i have copied all the usa maps from the installation cd to my storage card, but when i try to change map in TOMTOM it cannot find them. It only shows the GB map. Does anyone know about this problem, or a workaround?
Many thanks

In short it means you will have no success with that set up-sorry.
For a NY v566 map you will need to run TTNv5.0. But TTNv5.0 will not work on a WM5 device-com port issue.
You need a newer map & application-TTN5.21 & NY v567 min.
i had the same problem
What i did was to run the Tom Tom setup from the CD and installed the map to a folder on my hard drive, Then copied the folder to my SD card and it worked a treat might be worth a try

[Q] Backup TomTom maps

Hi,
<you can skip the first paragraph if you are not interested in background info.>
I recently upgraded from Touch ELF to Touch Diamond US. I got TOMTOM 7.45 pre-installed with US maps. I have been going though xda forum and realized that in case I mess up something or change ROM, I can get the TOMTOM app from the forums but not the maps as it will against xda policies.
<here is the actual question>
How can I backup TOMTOM maps from my phone? I see a maps folder on my internal storage, but do I need to backup some other files as well?
Thanks in advance.
Hi -
I don't have an answer, but curious where you got the Diamond with Tomtom 7 and US maps. I didn't think TomTom released US maps for Ver. 7.
" I got TOMTOM 7.45 pre-installed with US maps"
Thanks,
Mike
AFAIK, the license for the maps is stored in one of the meta files in the map folder.
I have been able to re-flash my UK Diamond several times (leaving the map folder untouched) without ever needing to enter my license information again.
TomTom Backup
You really don't need to do anything as said above.
As long as you can find a .cab of TomTom or use a ROM that includes it (as long as it's the same version as the one you're using), then the maps will work.
The maps can easily be backed up by finding them (I'm guessing) on your internal storage, and copying them to your computer. In there, there is a .dct file, and that's what unlocks the maps for your phone.
I hope this helps.
I have no .dct files in my maps folders, unless they are hidden files I can't see. There are map files with extensions .dat, .cfg, .bmp, .ov2, .inc, .mac, .mid and .pna. Files of these types are the present for all the maps I have loaded.
But no .dct files...

Help installing Tomtom 7 on Touch HD/Blackstone

Hi everyone.
Please can you help me to install tomtom 7 on my HD/Blackstone. This is my first PDA/phone like this , and I am kinda struggling.
I have downloaded the Tomtom 7.910.9185, with maps of western europe 1gb.815.2024
The package I downloaded had 3 versions of tomtom7 compressed.
QVGA black, QVGA blue, VGA black.
I am now lost, I have read about cab files, sending to the root file of the storage card, but I cant figure this out.
Is there an idiots guide, (I am a total newb and Idiot) showing how to do this. Maybe one of you guys has a webpage or thread with it all easily put down.
Your help would be most appreciated please.
Rgds

Does it have bigger POI icons?
Cause i've installed QVGA , it's full screen and looks nice but hte POI icons are little.
Or maybe that just tomtom 7
Hi,
I don't know if you already found how to do this but i will try to give you a simple guide:
1. copy the file VGA black.cab to your SD card root.
2. click on the file once (a .cab file can be compared to a .exe file on a pc)
3. After install, copy your map western europe 1gb.815.2024 to the root of your SD-card. Make sure that when you open the folder of the map, you should see files and not another map otherwise it won't work!
This should get you up and running tomtom 7.
POIs are small 'cause the TT version available run quite correctly on HD, but IT'S NOT the right version for HD, simply it doesn't already exists
Thanks,
Have managed to get the program to install, but no hope with the maps.. Keeps saying they aint activated..

So the problem ain't the software itself, is the map activation. You have 2 choices:
1: click here http://www.tomtom.com and have your VISA ready, or...
2: MOD EDIT....WAREZ ARE NOT ALLOWED HERE

Tomtom navigation - where to install maps
Hi all,
I'm spend a lot of time on many forums to find how to propp install Tomtom navigation (I'm using Tomtom 7).
Installing a Tomtom program is so simple but the maps thats another storry.
All informations what I'm found was telling you need to create a folder "maps" in root of the memory card and than copy all files from your PC folder of actual map there. That information is OK just if you want to use a single map.
Problem is if you want use more maps than one.Yo just simple can't coppy contens of two or more maps into the same forder.Or if you try to copy whole folders with maps into yours "maps"folder on your card the Tomtom not see that.
So what to do ???It's really simple.
1. You do not need to create the "maps" folder
2. All what you need to do is copy whole maps folders into the
" My Documents " folder on your storage card (not on" My Device " memory !!! )
Its work perfect,I'm use more than 3 maps (UK+IR, Western+Central EU, Eastern EU,...)
So maybe this info help some people whos need more maps.

I purchased the map from TOMTOM website, but when I tried to install it using tomtom home, it doesn't allow me to download

Hi stevenyu24, vidamusic et al with TT7 issues. Suggest you read through the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432410&highlight=TomTom and pay special attention to bmcconalogue post. All your problems should be solved there.
Best regards,
Just for you guys,
I have Tomtom Home 2.6 installed on my macbook and I can get MapShare working free with my TomTom navigator 7 installed on my Touch HD.
Just connect it as a Disk Device then when TomTom asks which device to use, choose the one on the Storage Card (the map is on the storage card and the app is on the internal storage)
Then, you will get free maps' correction !

Tomtom navigation - where to install maps on HTC Touch HD??? Its so simple, just read

They dont need to be in My Documents. They can simply be on the root of your SD card. So SD:\Europe & SD:\USA would work fine as folders for two seperate maps. TT auto searches the route of SD and looks in all top level folders to see if it recognises the contents as a map.

Tomtom Home working with HD2

I've had a search and I don't think this has turned up yet.
I've been frustrated trying to get my HD2 working with my legit bought copy of tomtom so decided to spend some time trying to get TomTom Home talking to the HD2.
After a couple of days hacking at it, I've managed to get a solution... sort of.
Unzip the enclosed file into C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\Resources\Devices\ and run tomtom home. Activesync the HD2 and it should detect that phone and give you the choice of the SD card or internal memory.
The problem I'm seeing at the moment is that despite having bought recent maps on my account, I'm only being presented with map version 660; I'd be interested to hear what other testers are getting.
I'm backing up my card and letting the update run now to see what map I actually end up with.
Please bear in mind the usual disclaimers about this kind of stuff, it's a dirty hack and might make your phone explode.
Tef
Sadly it does seem to have downloaded very old maps to my device but that could well be due to my account state. I do have the ability to buy the new 845 map through Home now, so I've put a ticket into TT to see if they'll reset that download. I just bought the Homer Simpson voice as a test and it's downloaded and installed without problem.
Tef
Teflon you are a genius. This allowed TomTom Home 2 to finally find my device. The maps I had were copied from my old phone and when TomTom changed my device to the new one all went extremely well. Thank you!!
Yep, I should have mentioned it only works with legit bought TomTom, but my intention wasn't to pirate their software, just to get access to my bought maps.
If you look at the change I made, it would take TomTom just a few minutes to make (though probably a couple of days to test properly in all fairness)
They may be stubborn and their support slow, but the TomTom guys have mortgages to pay too
Tef
Ive got a HTC HD2 with working TT and TT Home
TTN7 Version - QVGA 7.916.9189 Blue
Map Version - United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland 845.2667 with working Map Share
Tomtom Home 2.3
UK Speed Camera Database 7.041
Working Bluetooth
Great work, now I'm able to use my legit TomTom!!
Regards

If you have non-bought version, try the attached file.
Instructions:
- Copy all files to storage card
- Rename map folder to Iberia
- Connect device as disk drive (don't active-sync it)
- Run TTH V2, and it should detect your device. It says TOMTOM ONE but ignore it.
Mapshare wouldn't update with the file at the first post, but this way all my updates work
It also shows the latest map versions

Tried this and it didnt work... do you need to put the files on the card dir directly or can they stay in a folder...
Where did you load that file? Its for PC not for the phone !!!
Check it again on the top
C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\Resources\Devices

Thats the one at the top, which I will try now, but the one I mentioned tells us to put the files on the card... of course I could have the wrong end of the stick there though... modern technamology has done that to me from time to time...
Great work
GREAT WORK !!!
Well done m8. Work perfect even with non legit TT 7 on my HTC HD2 "ttn7.917.9186_vga_black_cuckoo ".

POIs ( speed cameras,etc. )
confirm it works.
it doesn´t works here.
there is a upcoming message which means, that there is an invalid version on my device, so i´ve to install a correct version of tomtom.
the version on my device is ttn7.917.9186.
is there something i can do?
so did you copy the file from top of this thread into the folder where did you insta your TomTom Home?
And also how you connect your HTC to your PC? For me it work with sync mode
i´ve copied the "mobile.ddf" in the "..\TomTom HOME 2\Resources\Devices"-folder, and try to sync with an activesync connection.
tomtom accept my device and i choose the sd-card.
i´ve an account, with a speed cam contract, so i tried the update when i´m connected and also when i´m disconnected. now matter - it doesn´t work for me.
Hmmm, and what about the rest of the things like voices, POIs ? cos the speed cameras not work for me but its look like its not problem with soft but with the tomtom server for this feature. I can download voices,POIs so what about you?
poi update is working, but no speed cameras, no map-share update - everything what is important doesn´t work for my.
the message is...
"ERROR: 573/#https://community.tomtom.com/shop/onetimeDeviceUpdates: Error from server..."

with this one tomtom is detecting a tomtom one, and i can update the map-share information for my installed card, pois and so on. but no speed camera update, because i have to chance my registrated device, but i´m not be able to do, because of a "one change in a 6 month period"-restriction.
before i copied the new mobile.ddf in the folder i renamed the one already there mobileold.ddf as back up, mapshare and voices all working.
tried that.not working for me but that cos I have not a legit TT version. Maps,Cameras not working but woices and some other things OK.
