Just installed the xda-developrs SE ROM
Seems to make the XDA run like a deamon, well impressed so far.
Just as everybody else though. The autoconfiguration doesn't work. So can't get the o2 wap settings up.
dns 193.113.200.200

but something seems to be missing. Could somebody please supply the complete settings.
WAP...
Ehm, as far as WAP goes...
We did not include the EZWAP program in our install. So WAP is unlikely to work. WAP wasn't in Othman's Qtek ROM (it has no autoconfig settings and no WAP), and we didn't create mkrom to take input from multiple ROMs. We figured serious users would want to the new EZWAP which also does MMS (which isn't included by O2), and we never really used WAP or MMS ourselves. So I guess we never tested any WAP settings...
If you want you can have a look at the registry settings we insert for each provider in the 'provider' directory of the mkrom kit. If you think some settings are missing, you could do a registry dump (using the 'System Snapshot' we put in the ROM) before and after fixing the problem, and send us the differences. We can them insert them in next versions of the Special Edition ROM.

Hi,
Thanks for the above info. It worked a treat. However I was asked for a Username, Password and Domain login when I connected to GPRS. So for those of you who do know it, here we go:
Username: web
Password: password
Domain: leave this blank.
Check the box to save the password.

I am on O2 payg, using the xda, I have tried the gprs settings and it says the number isnt responding, when I use the gsm settings that are preset when doing auto config, I get charged even though I am on 300 free wap minutes, I dont think I am a stupid person but I have a feeling of having been here before when I previously had an O2 payg, any help would be appreciated. I am getting the free sms messages so I know the account is activated for the freebies. The "G" sysmbol comes on when i switch on the xda and stays there for about 10 seconds.
Hi. I'm new here so excuse me if I seem simple! I have unlocked my XDA using xdaunlock and now have same problem with GPRS dropping out after approx 10 seconds. It worked before, so has unlocking changed any settings? or has something else happened. The xda has the latest uk rom upgrade with 4.21 radio. Any help please as I dont know what to do! Thanks.
Please has anybody actually got a working setup for GPRS on O2 PAYG on the XDA, I have spent weeks on this and got nowhere. I have followed instructions to the letter from different websites and still no joy, I can connect to wap over gsm but gprs settings still elude me, anybody got a full description of settings please, and how to enter them. Thanks in advance.
Is there nobody on this forum using O2 PAYG sim and using wap over gprs? I cannot seem to find anybody with the settings, I wonder why, it seems like the holy grail just to get on line using the system that is available to me in theory? Help would be greatly appreciated.
Nobody in UK on O2 pay as you go :?: :?: :?:
Update on my problems with GPRS on O2 payg. I have tried every setting on this forum plus others, I always get error, not answering or some such, I have decided to stick to gsm connection using shortcode 951000 and exwap 2.5. if anybody can give me step by step, confirmed working settings, I would apprectiate it. This will be my last post on the subject, I am beginning to take up too much storage on the forum server with this. A resolution to the problem would be great as I can then save my connection settings to flash ram and not worry about it again.
cruisin-thru I am not on O2 so can offer limited help.
EzWAP2.5 could be yr problem.
I sometime find difficulty using WAP after a session mms'ing with EzWAP2.5 . A solf reset is then required before I can connect to WAP via gprs.
Here is my sugestion:
1.uninstall EzWAP2.5 completely
2.try to get connected to gprs or gsm WAP
3.try PIE, it works for WAP , but depending on yr
telco whether on gprs or gsm
4.if all the above is working then install EzWAP2.1
and see if it works
5.then EzWAP2.5 and see if it screw up everthing,
if not try mms.
Hope this helps, i am working blind here
OK, searched high and low and think this is the best thread to post this in.
Have just upgraded my XDA with the developers rom v1.2. Everything great for a while (3 days) Now it can not connect to gprs or gsm. I get the "There is no answer at the number dialed.
I am with O2 UK and have treble checked the settings and tried various alternatives however nothing works.
One thing I have noticed is that the autoconfig dropdown box says Austria One.....when I change that to O2 - UK and click OK to autoconfigure, it doesn't, it just comes back to Austria - One.
Phone works and SMS is fine, just GPRS/GSM
Do I need to re-flash or contact my provider....or please tell me there's a simple "fix"
Thanks
Ive got this reply through email from o2 im waiting now for password and username I will post soon as I get it
Go to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections, and then select the top modify option. Within this, there should be four connection types.... Select the GPRS WAP connection and modify the settings. You need to change anything that says o2wap to payandgo, and change the APN from WAP.o2.CO.UK to PAYANDGO.O2.CO.UK. Once you have amended these settings, tap and hold on this connection type and make it your default. You might want to rename this
Then, go into the EZwap application, and select tools and then options, and there should be a series of tabs. Select the general tab and make sure the connection in the drop down list, is the one you have just amended.

The alternative dialup number of +44 7712 927 927 is also available,
although this number may not be free when used with O2 online
Hi, make sure first that it's your GPRS WAP connection that Ezwap is using, and set it to 'auto connect' in 'Options'
under the 'connection' tab set connection type to 'gateway' and put in your networks WAP IP address (o2 IRL's is 192.168.090.074). Click on 'connectionless gateway'
Untick 'wtls' secured connection.
Click on the 'MMS' settings tab next.
Put in your networks MMS 'Message Server' or MMS homepage. (O2 IRL's is http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002)
All the other settings can be setup as you like.
1) Enable MMS on my account. Had to get 'pally' with a tech guy to do this as XDA is not supported; I suppose pretending I had a 7650 would have worked too.
2) Install EZWAP2.5
3) EZWAP Settings for O2UK:
General
"Connection"
- O2 WAP GPRS
- Connect automatically Y
- Rest on this tab default
Connection
"Connection Type"
- Gateway
- Address 193.113.200.195
- Port 9201
- Connectionless Gateway N
- WTLS secured connection N
- Rest on this tab default
Push
"Push"
- Enable push Y
- Connection type Address: blank

History/Cache & Identification - default
MMS
"MMS Settings"
-Message Server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
-Sender Address Type: Phone Number
-Sender Address: My phone number
MMS Options - delivery recepit and read receipt Y
It's not 100% reliable, which I knew would be the case, but it's not too bad. Get now when the message arrives doesn't work, but I just open the MMS inbox and click the message to get it.

MMS on vodafone
Hi Gigino
Your settings cured the problem. Thanks very much. I've been struggling for 4 months with this.
Your settings were the same as mine except for the user name and password.
But changing them fixed it.
To add the icing to the cake, the first picture I received today was of my new grandaughter born last Thursday who I haven't seen yet.
Thanks again very much for your help.

Hello Everyone/Rambo6 ... I'm a newbie to this forum. Please help before me I give up on my 8125 ...
I have an unlocked cingular 8125 using tmobile service. I have not been able to get MMS to work yet (I'm pretty sure my settings are correct). I've been spending 3 days now on 4 different forums, but I still can't get an answer. I was really happy to see that Rambo6 (in one of the threads) got his to work, so I'm sure I've found the right place to get help.
I guess the questions are:
1) What am I doing wrong?
2) Do I need to flash with a TMO ROM? I tried to update the ROM from tmo website but I got an error, I think it was something like "invalid vendor" ... or something like that. I'm currently using the Cingular ROM. Phone & SDS works.
3) Does anyone have a step by step process on this? With pics would be awsome.
4) Is my phone not fully unlocked eventhough I can use the tmobile SIM for phone/SMS?
Here my ppc info:
ROM version: 2.25.11.1 WWE
ROM date: 5/11/06
Radio version: 4.1.13.12
Protocol version 4.1.13.12
ExtROM version: 2.25.102
my settings was based on (from tmo website):
wap.voicestream.com
216.155.165.050 in the Gateway field
8080 in the Port number field
http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field
WAP 2.0
I did spent time reading through this forum (and a lot on other forums). I apologize if this has already been answered. I did honestly tried to search 1st.
bump !
i myself have been searching aswell looks like its a common issue with the cingular 8125 .
um.. did you edit the media net connection to point to tmo? im not clear on the tmo settings, but i know on cingular, the mms settings uses the media net connection, if i have my edge on MY Isp it fails (im assuming it needs that proxy from MEdia net) so basically you will need the internet settings as well...
I used the following settings from the tmobile website. I have a feeling I need to use the tmobile ROM. I'm a little worried because I have not found on this forum how to verify if my device is actually cid unlock. From what I can tell I have a G3 (IPL/SPL 2.25) chip so there is an unlock tool for that. I just need a way to verify that cid unlock actually worked.
Anyway, I took a risk and tried to flash with the tmobile ROM and got "Invalid vendor ID". I've been brousing this forum for this, but haven't found an answer yet. I guess if some one know please tell me now ... I've been spending 3 days now (actually 4 now) reading & reading & reading. Would be nice to get an answer now. What's wrong? Do I need a tmobile ROM? Thanks!!!

Shoganmark,
I read your reply but I didn't absorve (spelling?) it very well. I'm a little tired ... have not had much sleep. After reading your reply again, I think (maybe) I know where your getting at. I'll think about it a little more to make sure I really do understand what you're saying before I ask anymore dumb questions. Thank for your reply.

wasnt really a dumb question... just had to get it figured out.. i am cingular and not sure what the tmo connections look like, but i assumed they worked in the same manner as cingular, i didnt know if there were 2 different edge settings on tmo like cingular.. and i may not have explained it the best, but i was trying to explain how cingulars connection worked so that maybe in understanding that it would help your mms problem...
Have you gotten it to work yet?
let me try to break down how cingular's works and make it a little more understandable, hopefully this will help you figure your tmo problem out..
On the connections tab cingular has 2 gprs settings
MEdia Net (uses a proxy server)
MY Isp (does not use a proxy)
Now by default cingular is set to MY Isp (due to wifi, wifi will not work if set to MEdia net due to the proxy server)
Then of course in the MMS folder settings is the MMS connection settings...
Now if the phone is set to my isp it will not send an mms message (im guessing due to the proxy server.. sounds like a pain in the a$$ yet?)
in order for me to send an mms i have to set the phone to MEdia net (im guessing again due to proxy)....
Hello ShogunMark,
Unfortunately I was NOT able to get MMS to work. I tried soft reset & power
down also. Anyway here's what I've done so far:
1) For Connections I use MEdia Net (setting up for internet)
based from: http://tmobileus.wdsglobal.com/wap?...mobileNumber=&captchaEnabled=true&service=wap

This network uses a proxy ....: checked
# I see the following but didn't change it ... not sure what to
# set it to (and tmo instruction didn't say anyting about this)
Socks: localHost: 1080
2) For MMS profile:

Server name: PictureMessaging

Server Address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms

There's gotta be a stupid little thing I'm overlooking ... I'm just out of ideas now. This does not have anything to do with which ROM (Cingular vs TMO) correct? I don't think so, but then again there may be something hidden in the ROM.

help is what this community is for... no need to thank me
I'm not a WM5 and HTC Wizard expert yet (had the device less than a month and its my first WM device) so if i don't help i'm sorry, but i'll try anyways.
From what i know WM dosen't include MMS capabilities built in so my Wizard, T-Mobile MDA (US), uses something from ArcSoft to do that, i'm sure yours does too as HTC probably chose that. Have you looked into the settings for MMS Composer (the stuff by ArcSoft)?
The easiest way to do that i found was simply open up Pocket Outlook like you do to send an MMS -> Hit Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Tap "MMS" (may be named something else i can't say for Cingular's ROM) -> Hit "Servers" tab -> Ensure that new connection you set for MMS as T-Mobile told you via their site is the one MMS composer is set to use.
I can't imagine why it wouldn't work if that's set right... But post if that helps at all or not
Don't get rid of the 8125 though we'll all crack at it till it works
Hello Frazell,
You are correct about Arcsoft ... I did noticed that MMS uses Arcsoft (I saw that in the "About"). I went through the setup as stated at tmobile website already ... so I'm surprise too why it didn't work. Maybe this will give my helpers some more hints ... when I hit send:
1) The 1st pop-up widow is: "Connecting to PictureMessaging, Connecting to
GPRS" I didn't see any error here so I assume it's ok.
2) On top of the today screen, I see a yellow envelope with a gree arrow.
I assume that means it's trying to send.
3) After a little while, I see "unable to send message" pop-up.
4) Now, if I got to the comn manager, I see the "Data Connection" is active.
I think it turns on when I send a MMS. If this is true, then this connection
being on means I can get a connection via GPRS?
5) Another note that I don't think I've mentioned. I am using the prepaid
t-mobile plan. MMS is suppose to be provided with the prepaid plan
(25cents per pic), so I'm not sure if this is a problem. I've already
checked with t-mobile that SMS & MMS are activated on my account.
ps. I've been searching on differnet forums (howardforum, pocketpcaddict ....), and I see some other people have this problem also. Most of the posts I see never had a reply, so I don't know if they solved it or not.
1 more edit to add: Both my wife and I have the same phone with the same problem, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
(edit: fixed spelling)
with prepaid can u browse the internet....... if not u will not b able to send mms messages
Yes, prepaid can have internet access (it'll be expensive thouth). Here's the service listed by t-mobile

im downloading a tmo us rom now... gonna pick apart the ext rom and see whats there.. hopefully i can come up with something to help you guys
ok, i found about 5 necessary cabs in the ext rom.. one makes the mms folder and some other reg settings, the rest makes the connections between internet and MMS.. i put a config text inside to show the order to install the cabs.. then reboot.. see if this solves your problem
Shogunmark,
I was not able to install the 3rd cab ("P_Generic_Conn_Settings.CAB") ... Got an "unsuccessful" installation. Should I continue
to install the rest?
my port is 9201 other than that everything else looks the same.
Hey folks,
Received notification of my first MMS since getting the Tytn. I selected "Download" and also "Send/Receive" several times, and it won't download the stupid thing.
I'm on Cingular, and here are the settings I entered manually, per Cingular's website:

Port: 8080
Server: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: (I've tried "The Internet" and "Media Net" here)
Sending size limit 250k
WAP version: WAP 2.0
The following items are checked in Preferences:
-Retrieve Messages Immediately.
-Save Sent Messages
-Allow Delivery Report

The file being sent to me is only 109k so I don't think it's too big by any means.
Does anyone on Cingular have any different settings?
Thanks.
Cingular MMS Settings
Hello, this is my first reply on this board so here it goes.
i had plenty of problems at first with cingular and mms working together untill i tried these settings which are pretty similar to yours besides the port #.
Server name: Cingular MMS
Gateway: wirless.cingular.com
Port Number: 80
Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: My ISP
Sending size limitaion: 250k
WAP Version: WAP 2.0
Now a couple of explanations. ( to the best of my ability. please feel free to correct.)
server name: this is either the default name or you can create a new server name of your choice. I have gone as far as deleting the default server and creating the new name of Cingular MMS. Or for example you could put Joe Blows Server Or JBS for the new name whatever you like.
Gateway: has to be as is. (as far as I know.)
Port number: Although ther are several port numbers to use I have found that this number (80) is what actually made everything work.
Server address: has to be as is. (as far as I know.)
Connect via: whatever connections you have to connect to the internet you should have mms connect the same way.
Sending size limitation: 250k is the maximum. (If there is any way of getting mor plese let me know.)
WAP Version: I dont know the difference between WAP 1.2 and 2.0 except 2.0 sounds better.
Also under prefernces i have.
Retrieve messages imediately-checked
Download on home network only-not checked
Save sent messages-checked
Regect all messages-not checked
Allow delivery report-checked
Allow read report-not checked
Attempts before giving up-4
Photo Resolution-Origional
The only setting that I would think of be crucial is download on home network only. (for cost reasons. depending on plan. I guess.)
Other than that just make sure the little red arrow is on the server that you just configured or created and you should be set to go. if any one finds any of this info false please feel free to comment, otherwise this is what I have found to work on my htc tytn here in the usa on cingular and cingular UMTS. GOOD LUCK.....
correct, should be port 80, thats what mine is, and my max sending limit is 600...
here is another thought, why not extract the cab from the cingular extended rom that installs the MMS settings?
you also need to go thru the Cingular proxy server. set up the proxy server under Settings->Connections->Edit My Proxy Server for the connection you are using. under Advanced change HTTP to wireless.cingular.com also make WAP & Secure WAP 66.209.11.61 (leave the ports as they are).
The settings from Cingular website (https://www.cingular.com/support/deviceTutorials.do) is correct. However, I made 1 tweak:
In the "Connect via:" box, I put "My Work".
I created an additional entry in the "My Work Netwokr" (Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections) and put wap.cingular as the APN.
This way, when an MMS need to be sent or downloaded, the device will drop the 3G / GPRS connection and connect via the MMS setting. Afterwards, it'll connect back to the 3G / GPRS connection.
mine does that with the default setup, i stay on my isp, but if i send or recieve it automatically drops the connection and connects via media net, once its done it goes back to my isp
I recently got an unlocked cingular 8525, and I have been using it with my T-Mobile service. The only thing that I need help with is what do I need to do to the phones internet settings to use it with my T-mobile service. So if someone could tell me the internet settings, that would be great.
this is what you need works a treat on my mda varioII with the new 2.05 rom.

Thanks, but I live in the US, so I dont think those settings will work. Can someone send me the US settings.
Start-Settings-Connections-Connections
Add a New Modem connection
Name: T-Mobile Data
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS,3G)
Access Point Name: wap.voicestream.com
No user name, password or domain
Finish.
If there are any other modem connections you can delete them.
Now Start-Settings-Connections-Connections-Advanced
Select Networks
Change programs that automatically connect to "T-Mobile Data"
Surf away. If you need the MMS settings:
Go the MMS inbox Menu-Tools-Options
Tap MMS to change settings tap servers tab on bottom
Chose New
Server Name: T-Mobile
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port Number: 9201
Server Address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: T-Mobile Data
Size limit: 100k
Wap Version: 1.2
Hope this gets you going. Also, if you haven't already, I would suggest flashing a HTC rom on the device. This will give you voice command via the PTT button, among other useful updates.
Thanks. Will flashing a new rom erase all of the standard programs factory installed on the phone?
