Universal Battery Life - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Hello everyone,
I need to ask you guys, owners of Universal like myself, what is the MAXIMUM battery operation time?
To me it can NEVER exceed 30hrs & if bluetooth and/or WLAN is on, it can hardly get 20hrs, so I wonder how often do you charge your batteries?
My friend who got his Universal before me told me he puts it to charge every night before he goes to bed, I hate to say, during my first week my Universal failed me, I was more used to Nokia/Symbian combination, where battery lives for at least 3 days with EXTREME use (on my Nokia 9500 that I still use & recommend as the best cellphone ever), and one whole week with my Universal predecessor (I got the Universal to replace Nokia 6310i).
I hope you all to have a nice weekend.
All the best.

Battery life is poor, no question. I'll be getting a 3000MaH (double life) battery at the end of the month.
Since setting up a permanent 3G connection for Push Email purposes, I barly get a working day out of it -
Typical Day:
1. 2hr 30 of bluetooth music
2. 3G connected all the time for Push Email
3. About 50 web pages downloaded
4. Some other various programs used
You're talking about 11-12 hours. To be honest I expect to charge such a powerful device at the end of every day.
I use 3G because it doesn't interfere with my headset in work (call centre) whereas GPRS does (!). I'm gonna try GPRS instead, or change job. Probably both by the end of the month. (yay!)

Like a Priest amidst a flock of Choirboys.

At http://www.lionbattery.com/ they have 4800 mAh for all Universal models/colors. I order one for my Exec and it will come to me on Wednesday. I cant wait.

yes, but at nearly $200 or just over £100, that's a damn expensive battery.
One thing I wondered about the thicker batteries is I often type messages with the device sitting on the desk... as the replacement battery cover is thicker only for the length of the battery becuase of the camera position (about 3/4 the length of the full back) will it still be stable when typing, expecially if using the keys near the edge? I think it'll be onstantly tilting which would really bug me after a while...

All should be fine. Perhaps I can post my likings when I receive it.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS TEST

It took me many, many hours of DVD ripping, AVI to 3GP converting and last but not least putting the damn files onto memory cards. But I have successfully been able to put all of "The Lord of The Rings" trilogy onto SD cards (three cards lol 2 x 2GB, 1 x 4GB of different makes) in order to test my theory of whether the aftermarket 2400mAh battery (bought from eBay for 20GBP) has the power to last the duration of the trilogy, or not. Well read below for my findings:
I was first introduced to this theory by the merchant who sold me the battery who quoted that you can watch full length movies with the extra capacity . . . so heres how it went
The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring
First SD card in was my friends 2GB SanDisk Secure Digital Card, I must admit that I did turn off the phone function(s) during the duration of this test in order as to not be disturbed. None the less I watched the entire film, and after it the battery was still charged, so straight onto the next part.
The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
For this I used my own 4GB Transcend Secure Digital Card. I personally felt that as I was using the extended version of the film that the battery would fail during it, but I was shocked to find that the battery had only drained to 33% by time it had finished! I was desperate to see how long it would go on for in the third and final part
The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
In this part of the test I used my own 2GB SanDisk Secure Digital Card. I knew the poor battery wouldnt last this entire film from the start as it had held it's charge suprisingly well all day, so the movie started and the battery packed in at around the point where Aragorn goes to get the ghost army it was a real shame as I had enjoyed myslef so far lol
So there you go the 2400mAh battery lasted 7/10ths of the LOTR test. Pretty good I must say.
I know it was quite sad of m but at least now we all know it's capabilities.
Also I have to add that the battery has no memory, therefore after this test it was back to full capacity ofter charging
thanks,
Ryan

See how it does with the radio on, it would be interesting as this is one of the reasons the 2i was bought in the first place wasn't it? Be a good guage to see how much power the radio uses too, in fractions of a trilogy.
Signal Booster?
what the heck is that?

maybe u bought a crappy one?
Since i am into eletronics il have my say. Standard batterys are lithion 3.7 V DC 1250 miliamps per hour. The better ones are lithion 3.7 V DC 2400 miliamps per hour. Thats obvously 1150 mAh more, nearly double. Therefore by my calculations the 2400 mAh battery should last about 0.7 times longer than the 1250. If not, your battery is faulty.
If you're into electronics then you should know that mAh stands for milliamp hours and not milliamps per hour. They are very different things.
mAh is a measure of the store of energy of the battery, but I agree it should last substantial longer than the 1400mAh one.
erm... No it does mean milliamps PER hour. Milliamp hours is just short but means the same thing. Example, how many milliamps the battery can produce per hour
still does it have the force?
all radio off :-
watched all of a new hope. then started watching empire. then the bloody fire alarm went off at work so I had to get out of the office. will have to start again.
the test
I'am being totally honest about the battery *proud* maybe you got a defective one or I just got a good one hehe
but anyway with a remedial knowledge of physics you should know that P=IV (Power = Current x Voltage), V=IR (Voltage=Current x Resistance) and Q=IT (Charge=Current x Time) but unfortunatly these equations dont quite hack something this complex, I could sit and work it out (I have a MSc in engineering as well as CEng) . . but I cant be bothered, at the end of the day it lasted as long as it lasted I just got to see one of my fave films.
Oh yes and a signal booster is basicaly a metal strip (preferable a presious metal like silver, gold, platinum) that you put behind your battery and this helps to clear up the distortion around your phone which is created by all the radiation floating around it the one I use is a thin slip of gold leaf.
So in close, keep watching those trilogys LOTR and Star Wars, this is why we need high capacity microdrives to watch such things on the go lol

Any updates on the matter ? A release date would be nice.
The HTC touchPro extended battery comes with a back-cover (off course), will that cover also fit the MDA Vario IV. The front-top of the MDA is rounded, but the back seems to be just as straight as the TouchPro. I just want to be sure though

Are these really genuine TyTN II batteries?

I'm wanting to get a replacement battery but I don't want to buy a dud. I've noticed a couple of companies selling genuine/orignal batteries and to be fair they do look EXACTLY like the samsunt branded battery that came with my TyTN II. However, on closer inspection, in the top left corner of the pictures the battery doesn't say Samsung. Can't really make out what the brand is.
Anyway, my question is, did anyone get a battery supplied with their TyTN II that was not Samsund branded and looked like the batteries in the following listing?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=170230086920&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007
Considering it is from a power seller and the price isn't to low, i would go for it.
That's the exact battery in mine. Mine doesn't say Samsung. It says Dynapak on the top. idk that one deff. seems legit.
Cheers guys. You've been a great help
well you better get batteries from an authorized agent - they could cost you your device. the batteries you shown looks OK but you need to be definite so go to agent and ask for them, you may pay slightly more but you could also save yourself a headache
Mine is Samsung, I never heard of dynapack. I wouldent buy it .
if you look at the top left corner, you will see dynapak. its legit, never gave me problems great battery life too.
Dynapak here as well.

My original battery is a DynaPack. SOmewhere on here is a thread where people posted the models of their original batteries. There might have been 3 or more variations.
Both are oem. Either Samsung or Dynapack will be fine. My original battery was Dynapack. The replacement is Samsung. I had my battery replaced because it was less than a year old and losing capacity. The ATT warranty will replace it for free.
Dynapack here also in my Tilt. Model KAIS160, 1350mAh.
Hi
I would like to buy another battery, but I don't know what parameters I have to figures out in the search. Can someone tell me what characteristic the new battery must have? Do you think that buy a battery of more capacity [like 1600 mAh] could be better? I use a lot the wi-fi and it consume a lot of power...
I saw battery of 1600 mAh costing less than 1350 ones.... Are they sh*t?
Thanks

You can get non-oem standard 1000+mAh for 23 bucks at

You can also get non-oem extended 2400mAh with door for 35 bucks at wirester as well
http://www.wirester.com/att-tilt-8925-htc-tytn-ii-kaiser-li-ion-extended-battery-with-door.html
I got the extended one. haven't used it though.
Thanks for the reply.
If it is possible I will buy a battery without extend the back-door because if the PDA become thicker I will have some problem to fit in the car holder...
But my question is related to the characteristic. In the Italian ebay I saw a lot of 1350 mAh battery that cost from 6 to 40 € and I don't understand the reason...
I don't know, also, if the battery with more than 1350 mAh are useful, because on of my friends had bought a xlarge battery for his PSP and the time of using is reduced compare to the original...
I'm confused... Can you help me? If someone have bought non original battery can tell me the characteristic and his opinion compare to the original one?
Thanks
My first Tilt had a Samsung in it. The rear speaker failed after a month, so i got an entire boxed replacement at the store and it had a Dynapack in it. Havent had a single complaint with the 2nd unit i got with the Dynapack battery. Heck, i think even the battery life is better with the Dynapack than the Samsung one I had first.
Thanks for your advice. I've found some Dynapack in ebay.it and I think I will buy this.
If I will have more info about I will tell you!
Thanks Bye

Battery drain after 1 year and 8 months using s7 egde duos

Hi all,
I Have s7 edge duos 1 year and 8-9 months. I use phone much, play Asphalt 8 every day.. In last 10-15 days I can see my phone drain battery much, especially when play game. I did full wipe 2 times but not much difference.
Phone is stock, never rooted.
What you think, can some stock rom from sammobile or curstom rom+kernel help? Or this is normal after almost 2 years using phone??
Thanks for advice.
There is an app that can very accurately measure the battery wear (percentage of dead battery cells). It's called AccuBattery and its free on Play Store. I have the phone also about 1 year 8 months and my battery is at ~70% capacity (2600mAh vs. the original 3600mAh) so I also experience this huge battery drain. This is not something that can be fixed by software. Consider replacing your battery. (I read somewhere that a new original Samsung S7 Edge battery costs 30eur + handwork, so if you wanna search for a replacement it might come in handy to know how much they are charging you for their handywork)
EDIT: AccuBattery needs a few charges to accurately measure the battery wear, so don't look at the results immediately, wait a couple of days.
I have the exynos version of s7 edge and its been 8 months since i got this.... and i get massive battery drain due to android system and device idel...
Used a battery testing app it showed most of the battery was draines by apps usage around 61%...
I reset my phone twice.... i don't know any solution...

I found some battery on E-bay and Aliexpress for 10-15 usd. Not sure what to do really. Phone is great. Only battery isnt anymore. I have power bank 10.000 mah. 5.600 rsd is ok price for genuine battery.

What is your current battery capacity, measured by AccuBattery?
How long does your battery last?
Post a screenshot of your battery usage.
In ProMobi (our official Samsung Repair Service) they said that waterproofness is still guaranteed (but I don't believe them). The price is 5600 RSD (48 EUR).

My current battery capacity is around 3100mah shown by accu battery and i kind of fixed the problem
All the problem was in facebook app and the chrome...
I disabled the location permission of fb app and disabled chrome.... display set to hd and one more thing is that most of the batterywas alao being taken by touchwiz home...
So i switched to launchair and applied dark theme.... turned off location history and everything and now even with wifi on my device has 5 hour of screen on time with 41% power left in battery... ps. I also enabled the mid power saving mode and tgings are wat better now.... 8 hours of usage time remaining
And ss are attached

I would definitely buy a new original battery. This is a great phone and except the battery it will last for a few more generations with no hiccups.

Moj prijatelj ima servis telefona. Danas sam pricao s njim oko zamene baterije.
I mnogo me to odvlaci da ga promnim. Za note 8 nisam pri parama iskreno. Ako zamenis bateriju obavesti me.
Nadam se da nije zabranjeno pisati na srpskom na xda. Nisam citao pravila.

What is my real battery capacity? Acubattery varies wildly

So quick question:
If I charge my phone slowly, accubattery reports my battery as being ~2700mAh whereas if I do quickcharge, I get an abysmal ~2000mAh. I mean I already bought a new battery, but how much of my original is left?
Any good way to tell exactly how much my phone will hold?

On my case, I installed a new battery then I did a test myself.
By using USB battery capacity test tool, the result is near 3100 mah.
By accuracy battery, the result is 3400 mah.
The result on accuracy battery not change for a month whatever on normal charge or quick charge. So I think the app is pretty accurate minus 300 mah.
So you may keep charging on both methods. Then use the average number to minus 300mah.
(I guess you have 4 hours SOT, right?)
I believe he's referring to actual, physical battery life. How long will it last before it starts to fail and needs replacing.
Maybe.

So I have about 1900mAh left in my battery? Lol wonderful
Guess I should get my lazy ass to tearing apart this phone and putting a new battery in. I have maybe 3 hours SOT.
According to Accubattery I now have 2254mAh battery capacity

I bought it from taobao (china online market), I dont think it support other country but china.
The seller said the battery will label random from 3100 to 4000 mah.
But I think it is fake, by using usb tester, the capacity is still about 3150 though, I dont know how the battery can fool the accubattery app.
So any battery will work just the same.

Well, I also had about 2300 mAh three or four months ago. Now I found out that snapping an HDR+ pic with less than 40% battery will shut off my device (voltage goes below the shutdown threshold from abt. 3.7V) since all cores go at full tilt when processing...
I think Accubattery's reading is good mainly for knowing when to change the battery, i.e. if it says less than 2700 it's time to get a new one. Sadly I can't find one, so I'll have to put up with this until I find someone that sends stuff to my country

eBay doesn't ship to your country?
I have about 2300mah left and if my phone is cold it will get to 30 percent then die and not reboot until it's connected to the charger.
Now I have read that someone else's shuts down I will now eBay a battery and set about replacing. Cheers

Ebay and Aliexpress ship to my country, but I'd have to go to customs to get the battery, fill in a lot of paperwork and pay double the price in taxes... i'm not sure if it's worth the hassle. I'll try to get one if someone travels out of the country

You should buy a new one, but the fix for that is maybe just a calibration

I mean, my battery was only $13 on eBay. To each their own, though.

I'd end up paying north of $40 plus having to go get it to customs

What battery did you buy? I'm looking in Aliexpress (Stuff gets to my country from there albeit after a month or two) and there are original batteries, and Losoncoer and HSABAT 3650 mAh batteries

I finally bit the bullet and bought an original one via Aliexpress. It cost $6 plus about $5 in shipping. Now to wait a month or more, as usual with aliexpress
My battery is one year 8 months old. Whenever it got down to 30-37% it would automatically shut off, no warning or anything. When I plugged it in it read 30-37% and would start right up. The battery life in general was terrible.
So I would say if your battery is over a year and a half old and your having problems with it you should think about replacing it. No software will overcome a worn out battery.
I bought my battery from ebay and put it in myself. Not as easy as some would make it look but it's doable. What helps get the back of the phone off is a small flathead screwdriver with a very thin tip to get inbetween halves and then twist to seperate.
