Rom update problem

Hi
I downloaded the rom update from o2 website in ireland and tried to install it, it the told me that i needed to find a compatible version any ideas any 1. I am running the Q-Tek XDA same thing just branded differently. Also my unit has ver 3.14 on but i cannot find function to keep gprs online. Please assist

I have exactly the saeme problem. MDA is PWA10A2, the update is for PWA10A1 and thus doesn't flash. (except for radio which I updated already).
You can use the ROM Image tool from here, it needs a 32MB SD card and a PC SD card reader but it is supposed to be risky.
Anybody tried updating to this ROM on PWA10A2 before we burn our machines? >

Get your self a FAQ with a description for a language change. Then patch that file according to that FAQ, do not change the language but the phone type. that's all.
** Remember, you might loos guaranty, it might fail or your device might get broken ! **

Can I revert to the older ROM (the working ROM) then? The bootloader should work anyway?

I can't see the FAQ though, is it PPC general or MDA/XDA specific?

I patched the ROM (rewrote the desired ID of XDA to match with my MDA ), flashed and... guess what... it works

Dear Manipulator developers,
I have a XDA simlocked to O2 and need your help for unlocking cause it didnt worked by now!
If i hold Power Button and press the softreset there comes the red green blue screen with:
Wallaby Bootloader V5. 14
GSM OK
if i put in my serial cable(bought on ebay) and start the Manipulator..there stands:
GSM turn on
already on restet....
and then it disappears and there stands:
"GSM turn on
sucsess..
ok but in the software there stands :
Status: ready
sidlock : <none>
Gidlock: <none>
IMEI: some numbers
keep first 8 digits is hooked
call timers: zero
no reset button anymore cause i pressed it allready!
if i startet the program the first time there was no "unlock button" just reset button..
now there is notthing to press??
what must i do?
if i start this software it founds the xda on com 1!so everything seems to work!??
please help me!

PS: i can change the numbers in the field "IMEI" but that is dangerous or not my imei is my phone id!?

oh what might be important:
i have not done an "autokonfiguration" for O2 network..cause this is downloading the smart menu stuff thet i dont wanted..
have i to do this autokonfiguration to use the manipulator correctly?
or has it nothing to do with the autoconfiguration of my mobile phone?
please help me i am as far as before!
PS:i think this Forum is getting too big..maybe the chifs of this great site could make categories for the forum?!

if u read my post above u see that i am trying to unlock my simlock on O2..but now..i thought about it..what is if this what stands there (simlock : <none>) is correct!!?? i dont have a simlock?!maybe..look i can use a D2 simcard..all works fine but!:if i loose networksugnal..i have to turn off an on again the mobile..cause otherwise it would stay without neworksignal the whole day!..my question:do i have a simlock??
or wouldnt it be able to use any other card if i had a simlock to O2?

From the above I would conclude your phone is indeed not SIMlocked, but you are experiencing problems related to Radio Stack version 4.14. The answer is to upgrade to 4.16 or 4.17, which both exist and are floating around, but haven't been offered as official upgrades yet.

But if i put my xda in bootloader moder there stands version 5.14!
if i reet it normaly there stands 3.14? which is my radio version?
wher can i get a new one for germany?
can i upgrade via dockingstation?

Version numbers
There is a whole bunch of version numbers associated with the XDA:
The Microsoft PocketPC OS version
The HTC software version (3.00.01 through 3.15.something)
The Radio Stack version
The protocol bytes
The Wallaby Bootloader version
Each version number represents the version of some different part of the software. Your bootloader is a separate thing with a separate version number, not related to the rest of the ROM. Your bootloader could well be present before the device gets a plastic casing and is told whether it's going to live a life as an O2 XDA. a T-Mobile MDA or a Siemens SX56.
A certain HTC version will be built based on a certain release of the PocketPC OS, with all the HTC specific drivers and additional (O2 or T-Mobile) related programs added.
The Radio Stack version depends on the software loaded into the GSM part of the device, and can vary independently from the OS. There's different versions depending on whether its a 900/1800 (Asian/European) or 900/1900 (American) phone.

I need help restoring my windows mobile 2003 software

Hi I have a big problem and i need all the help i can get
I have an XDA IIi but i accidently deleted all the data on it
the opertating system is gone the screen is only showing me Serial 1.0
and when i connect to my pc only shows USB 2.0
I would like to know if somebody can help me out with this and tell me how to restore the software to my device, i have a backup copy on my SD card, but i don't know how to used

I was trying to upgrade the radio version of the phone, but the version i was installing was not desgined for the XDAIIi , so, instead of upgrading, it deleted of the rom of the device and now the operating system is gone
the only thing i still have is the backup copy that i made defore the upgrade
i don't know if there is a way to use that backup copy in order to restore the system

Recommendation
It is propably that the system ROM was erased during upgrade and the upgrade wasn't successfull. Try to download the Diamond 1.2 WM2003se(my recommendation) ROM images package(somewhere available at this forums(Himalaya Upgrade)) and aferwards to flash your device with these files. If u want,u can try also the WM05 system.

He said his device is an Xda IIi not the old II.. Well you can reinstall back ur old ROM, no worries.. Download from my-xda.com..

How do I fash my device in order to install diamond 1.2?
I also was looking an upgrade for the XDA IIi but now there are not offering any updates, I have tried to install the upgrades for the XDAII but it gives me an errror telling me that the ROM version is different and it cannot be installed

If you mean the Country ID Error while attempting to flash the WM05 system,there's a problem of this OS. 2003se is without problem(for me). Simply download the Diamond ROM from this topic:

This contains 4 files(maybe more,but these are important).
-HimaUpgradeUt.exe
-ms_.nbf (Extended ROM image)
-nk.nbf (System Image)
-Radio_.nbf (Radio stack)
Start the bootloader(probably you are there),put the Hima to cradle,Windows at your computer detects your device and then extract the downloaded file into one folder and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
This utility is writing what you should do.
As I have readed that the WM05 OS is a little bit buggy(some compatibility problems etc..) at this time to use in Hima. Therefore I am using the 2003se.

Of course it does matter.. Remember that the II and IIi is now a really different device even though both looks identical.. For example, u said he can upgrade to WM2005 (or ROMs that was meant only for Xda II), but of course this can't be done, this is bcos the difference in hardware specs, 4 example IIi has 1.3 MP cam (II = 0.3MP), 128MB RAM, 128MB ROM (II=128MB RAM, 64MB ROM) and so on..

İ am a mda2 user. İve bought my device from Germany and after that i changed its ROM to an english one using a rom editor to change its country id .. This encouredged a close friend of mine and he bought a O2 XDA2i. And since both me and my friend have no idea about German language we immediately tried to convert it to an english ROM.
And using a wrong ROM (sinmerged 2003 se for himalaya) i killed his machine. It now only writes serial or usb (when connected to cradle). Someone told us that if we flash it with a original German ROM it can work again. But there is no German ROM downloadable . And even if we find a German Rom and install it , it wont solve our language problem. I am a dentist and i even cannot believe how much i've learned browsing these forums
If you can help me i will be very happy!
note : in the ftp server there is rom named german rom for xda2i.. But its a lie. its in english

I also have the same problem. I tried to install the wrong upgrade. I've downloaded the new one but i keep getting a connection problem message because activesync can't find the XDA. Help please!!!!

When you are in bootloader then ActiveSync will not find the device to synchronise with(cause the WMOS is not running and therefore is any synchronisation disabled). When you put into the cradle,the computer should find new device(Microsoft USB Sync). Then is the device connected and ready to update.

I would advise you to first of all carefully read the 'stickies' in the Wizard forum (including the rules on posting).
Your device:
You must determine whether your device is G3/G4 by checking your IPL/SPL.
You need to establish whether you device is CID unlocked.
Once you have done that that you can then decide how your are going to change the ROM. If you have a G3 you can CID unlock it very easily with information and tools on this forum. If it's a G4 you will most likely have to use Shell Tools.
You should ahve no problem finding an English ROM. You may even consider putting windows mobile 6 on it. There are many links to many different ROMs on this forum . . . but most importantly understand that you must read very, very carefully all of the instructions at your disposal, else you may end up with a bricked (broken) device. No one else will take reponsibility for your device, so make sure you know as much as possible before you attempt to try anything which will invalidate your warranty, or kill your device!
The tools to do what I have described above, and the information to do so, is available within the stickies on the Wizard forum. If you are stuck use the search button at the top of the screen - if you right click it and open it in another window you will get advanced search which will allow you to specify your search in a certain Wizard forum.

oh also how do you turn on phone without using the slide? sorry for newbie questions also when i upgrade fw will my phone still be unlocked? (think it will if its generic o2 as im thinking this is what you need to put on it)

First of all, check the list of new ROMs here:

Check if yours is in the R1 list, and if you can find the similar in the R2 list.
If it's not, hopefully some others with O2 in the UK can help you with that question.
Secondly, if you want to turn on the phone, just press the power button quickly.
Also, if you want anyone to take your questions seriously from here on out, take time to write correctly (with punctuation, for example).

Even better: may I suggest you to check the ROMS LIBRARY thread, which includes ALL available ROMs :
- newest R2A ROMs
- initial release (sept 2008) R1A ROMs
- custom ("cooked") ROMs from xda-devs members
- Transmitter Radio ROMs
The Library is updated daily, thus, if your requested ROM is not listed, it's probably because it is not yet available
(Firmware = operating system ROM)
