GPS connection

Hi,
I am new to PDA s and have seached fo hours trying to find an amswer. I have emailed suppliers and gotten nowt back.
I have a Globalsat bu353 with usb connection that I have used with my laptop - no probs...
I would like to use this with my xda ii and have seen connection cables for the car which are of the y type - Cigar lghtrt/XDA/GPS mouse receiver BUT they are always for ps2 - Is there a usb one? Or if I use a usb to PS2 adapter thighy will that work?
Also if this does/if I had a ps2 mouse do I have to put drivers on the XDA as I had to do with the laptop? I can find out nothing anywhere about this so all responses are greatfully received.
Thanks
KPM

www.pdamods.com seem to have a good range of cables. Hope this solves YOUR problem!
I still can't get my M1000 to recognise a Bluetooth GPS receiver ......
Best of luck!

GPS Feed via the Min USB?

Anyone reckon this is achievable?
Coudl be possible to get USB to RS232 conversion for the mini USB socket?
Surely there must be some software that does such thing!
I don't think it's that easy - usb is slave, not host, so it limits what you can connect it to.
Why would you not use bluetooth? Irda would even be an option. But USB, I don't think it's going to happen (easily).

I know there use to be serial GPS receivers for the old iPaqs, before they had bluetooth. They connected through the devices USB port (HP proprietary plug) which acted as serial (not USB host).
However, I never heard of one with min USB connection.
Thanks for the reply guys.
I do remember finding a company that had software that turned the mini usb into a usable RS232 interface with the help of some software installed on the PDA but I can't find it anymore!

Oh What I wanted to do is integrate a hardwired GPS solution in with a in-car cradle so people can just place their PDA in the cradle and away they go!
With Bluetooth it is much more difficult because for each user that uses that vehicle they will need to keep pairing devices up!
did you have any luck with this? I was looking to make up mini usb connector for Holux cr 100 - sounds as though it won't work though.
Has anyone managed to get a GPS feed from a SGS to their laptop, via the USB?
I have Marine Navigation software on my laptop, but not a GPS dongle. If I can use the SGS to supply the laptop with a GPS feed it would be very handy.
Any ideas anyone?

bluetooth and activesync problems

has anyone successfully sync using bluetooth? I have sync my XDA mini using my USB cable but I cant using blue tooth... pleasse help
is it a bluetooth dongle issue? may I know what BT dongle you are using?
I wouldnt have though it was a dongle variation issue as activestink uses the COM port profile.
I actively stink with bluetooth all the time.
LOL, (deliberate typos.).
I am having a problem with this also
When I pair mt Wizard with my PC via BT it askes me if this is a serial modem, and a couple of other modems, nothing that will allow sync.

Tytn as a tethered bluetooth receiver

Does anyone know if its possible to tether a Tytn to a PC via USB and have it act like a bluetooth receiver so that you can activesync another Tytn thru it.
for example.
PC <--connected via usb--> TyTn1 <--connected via bluetooth--> Tytn2
TyTn2 is then Activesync'ed with the PC
The reason I ask is that I have a Tytn with a broken USB port and I want to sync it with the PC before I get it repaired.
Thanks
Greevous
I don't think this will work.
Why not get a Bluetooth adapter for your PC and sync directly with TyTN #1?
Worst case you use it and then return it...

TomTom 6 and wired GPS

I could use some help or an answer to my problem. I have 8125 with tomtom 6 on it. I also have a wired GPS that I was using on my lap top. The gps has a usb connector so it could't be hook to the usb mini that is on the wizard.
So I got an idea of using a USB hub to give both power and connect together through the hub... Well no joy... I have tested all setting I can.. I turned off Beam, I tried changing all ports in exturnal GPS (even none) and it will not see the GPS. I tried all settings in tomtom also
So I guess the question is can you use the sync/charge usb mini/usb cable to connect to a hub that is connected to a usb GPS?
If no how do you use a wired GPS....
Thank you for any help....
no help in the house?
Guess nobody so far has a any info on how to help me with this problem...
You'll need to use a Bluetooth GPS.
