We can send sms with greek characters non-unicode.
Today i found this custom layouts for the resco keyboard pro.There are 3 layaouts. the second works fine

Rename it to Custom.MAP and replace the file in \Program Files\Resco\Languages

non-unicode meaning 160 characters???
i've tried it and it's still 70
any other changes must be made or pressing a specific button before typing?
thanks!

yes it means 160 characters.Just rename the second layout CUSTOM.MAP and replace it. Have you chosen custom layout as primary or secondary language from the options of the program?

i had greek as primary. after choosing caustom it works fine.

How to change Sym-button's character order

In www.qtek.fi there is some kind of script/program to change Universal's sym-button's character order. Unfortunately to download it you need Qtek 9000's IMEI (I have I-mate Jasjar).
Does someone here to know where these character arrays are stored and how to change the order so that 'ä' would be first character when 'sym' is pressed after 'a' (default is 4th press) and 'ö' first ch after 'o' (default is 5th press)?
Thanks in advance,
Antti R.
Hello araappa,
you have to edit the file "sym.txt" in your \windows folder. There you can change and/or add any character.
Greetings,
Hulzer
Thanks for your reply Hulzer,
After your answer it actually comes to my mind, that I earlierly did find that file, but I could not edit it since it's located in ROM. That makes the situation very same as in my other post concerning how to change voicbeep.wav file.
So the files are in \windows folder and are rom-files. But where are they, in extended or some other rom section (I'm not familiar with JJs memory structure), and which tool/unlocker I should use to get full access to these files?
Best regards, Antti
Hi,
I didn't change or unlock something with the ROM.
1. Copy the file to your desktop pc
2. Make your changes
3. Copy it back to your device
The file will be mirrored - you cannot overwrite it on your device directly. You have to copy it before. The origin file remains. But the new one will be stored in RAM. This one will be used.
For me it works fine!
Just try it like me.
character order
Hi!
I'm having the same problem although I've got a Samsung SGH-I750 with 2003SE.
I changed the sym.txt but nothing happened. I want to enter text with the phone's keypad but there is a lot of "unwanted" characters for example on button "2" like: à, å, æ, ç, ä
I've heard about changing the HKLM/T9InputMethod, but there is no directory like this.
Thanks for help

looking for english keyboard cab file

Sorry, I'm very new to posting.... just want to get the right info...
I just bought a softbank HTC (Herm200) with Windows Mobile 6 installed.
WM6 is an english version, but the keyboard assignment is not correct. (the function keys are not correct). It looks like a japanese keyboard layout.
What do I have to do/install to change to an english keyboard?
Please help
Install Schap's Advanced Config and change the keyboard layout in "keyboard" section. If you do not want to install new program you can also edit registry yourself
Goto the following registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.
The default value of English ROM is 20409, and Chinese ROM is 20404 (both are in hexadecimal).
The suitable value for German Hermes keyboard is 20407 (132103 in decimal).
The suitable value for Spanish Hermes keyboard is 2040a (132106 in decimal).
Probably Hermes use 20+country ID (409=WWE, 407=German, 404=Trad. Chinese, etc...) format for keyboard layout value.
Don't forget to power off your phone and then power back on when you have finished. Soft reset will not make the changes stick. _ fixed: Theres no need to change ?HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload and ?HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1 If you change them then when writing to "to:" field in sms, it doesn't list any names from contact list. (You have to press "Check names")
All you need is to change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty "Layout"="132116"
</verbatim>
Note: For those with a Chinese Keyboard Layout, Changing the Preload will affect Outlook, particularly when composing e-mails. Typing e-mail addresses will not auto-load from your address book for some reason. This can be fixed by deleting the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload] folder and all its contents. As of now, no known side effects from deleting the folder has been found.
Note2: For those using a Japanese layout (i.e. Softbank X01HT) with newer ROMs should use 30411 Hex. (197649 Dec) as value for keyboard layout in order to get ',' and '.' properly mapped:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
"Default"="e0030411"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
"Default"="e0030411"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
"Layout"="197649"
How do I change the soft-keyboard layout? QWERTY is working fine but I'm missing CZ chars on software keyboard.
I would like not to install another keyboard but simply change layout of the Windows default one if possible.
Thx

[Q] Swype-adding language/dictionary

Hello, noob here asking about how you add additional language into swype.
First thing first:
running stock mytouch ROM.
Rooted
I have the foreign language library files (dunno the origin of the files, pretty sure it's not from mytouch type)
Things tried:
Backup the swype, then uninstall. Then i edit the .apk to include the foreign language files, including editing the language.lst to include the language's name. Then copy the modified .apk to phone, tried to install...and FAILED big time. Go back to installing the original .apk, since i'm too terrified to try method (plus i dunno other method )
Any suggestion? Thank you very much....
so much views and no reply.... ;
anyway, i found a crude workarounds without any modification to the swype...by adding the words manually .....i just found out that swype stores text if you input it the usual way, or highlighted texts (silly me huh should've read around more)
option 1: open a text file consisting of the language's vocabulary, highlight them all then click the swype button (the one on the bottom left), that should add all of the words to the current language's dictionary.
option 2: use an app in the market named "sms to swype". This app will build a vocab database from all our text messages, then as above, just click the swype button to add the words to the current dictionary.
Once again, these are crude ones, and therefore you will have a mix of 2 languages in one dictionary. This can be a blessing or boon to different people.....for me, since i use both language interchangeably (is this the right word? or spelling, for that matter ) it is better than using just one language dictionary.

[solved] German USB keyboard layout

Hi,
the ADAM has only a USB keyboard layout for QWERTY (USA), but I need a German layout.
I have tried to change the .kl file. It works for some keys, for example changing "Y" to "Z", but the special Germany character like Ö Ü Ä and so on I'm not able to add them. And I think I have to make some changes on the .bin file in the /keychars folder. But I really don't know how.
Does any one knows how I can create a special USB keyboard layout for german characters ?
Thanks,
Harvey
my german USB keyboard layout is ready. If you want use it, see here http://tabletroms.com/forums/showthread.php?78-HowTo-create-a-German-USB-keyboard-layout

[Q]Hebrew keyboard [CM7 ROM] Nightly from Endless (kcm+kl files for hebrew)

I've got the
umts_milestone2-keypad.kl
umts_milestone2-keypad-hebrew.kcm.bin
files from the stock rom and changed their names to qwerty.kl qwerty.kcm.bin and replaced the files in the cm7 accordingly using the adb shell.
Now I can write in Hebrew using the keyboard but I can't write in English with the physical keyboard i.e. the TOGGLE_LANG (key 167 as it seems from the .kl file) button doesn't do anything.
Is there any way to make the TOGGLE_LANG switch between languages?
Also is there anyway to make the alt-lock button work?
Edit:
Well after a few more searches I've found out how to edit and build the KCM file and so I created a way for me to write en+he (base: he, alt:en, alt+shift:caps en).
but still the question stands unanswered so if anyone knows that'll be awesome. thanks
Hebrew Keyboard.7z contains the original KL and KCM files from stock.
Hebrew Keyboard2.7z contains the KL and KCM files with the en+he.
