So my battery dies on my 8125 yesterday...no bigs, I plug my phone into my car charger. The orange light comes on, it has issues booting up, I power it off and keep it plugged in on the drive home from work. I get home, plug it into the wall charger and keep it there for a couple hours. It won't turn on. I figure, okay the battery is way drained, plug it back in and leave it there overnight. I wake up this morning and it still won't turn on. I take out and reseat the batter and SIM card...nothing. Plug it into the PC and it doesn't even recognize that I plugged in a device. I think its dead. Any ideas before I send it back to Cingular?
update:
i tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40399 and at first it wouldnt power up after plugging it directly into the usb. five minutes later? success!!! woot! that thread needs to be stickied.
Okay not sure that this works but has been mentioned before.
While plugged in to power/USB hold down the power button and then wait.....then press the power button once.
might work

Sorry for the bad english.
I had my xperia for like 2 weeks now and last night i plug the usb from the
computer to my phone and my phone just completely shuts off. there is a red
light once in a while when its being charged. i charged it for 6 hours now and
it still won't turn on!??! Somehow my phone vibrates ones every two minutes
when it is off or being charged...have and idea??
are you still charging from the computer or the wall outlet. if not doing so already, i recommend that you charge from the wall outlet instead of the computers usb.
it may take a while before the red light goes out. turn off the phone and recharge it overnight.
i'm charging it from the wall outlet. The red light doesnt turn on anymore.
and still i can't turn on my phone.
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Remove the stylus.
3. Use your stylus to press in the small RESET hole which is along the slot where you just took your stylus out of. you will feel something click in as you press it, like a hidden button.
if that does't help, take out the battery and put it back in after a second or two or three. hehe.
then connect it to the wall charger.
I had this problem a few days ago... it didn't switch on even after a whole night's charge
you just have take the battery out, then put the usb cable in, then put the battery in... you'll notice the red light doesn't flash anymore... BUT!! don't try to switch on... i'd leave it for around 1 minute, before switching it back on. if you just leave it; the red light will start flashing again

I tried all of the following and it still doesnt work.
i put the usb cable in and it pops up the red light and my computer says it doesnt recognize the device. and my phone vibrates happends every 1 min or so..
but it still won't turn on
no, plug the usb cable directly into the power point. it's useless using a computer to charge the phone anyway, it doesn't supply enough power. just keep trying different combinations... mine ended up working after what i said before, although i did use the car charger in may car as after the charge in the night didn't work.
1 - take out battery
2 - insert usb cable to phone and power point
3 - insert battery
4 - wait 30 secs to 1 minute
5 - press power button for like 4 secs...
man this sucks i did that too and its still not working...
hmm i don't know what happen to it. it was still full battery when it suddenly
shuts down. could it be the battery?
tried manually booting SPL??? hold volume down button and press power and keep holding for 3-4 seconds..... see if that works
i did that too still no sign.
i know its not dead cause when charge it the phone vibrates every 1 min or so
and it stops after maybe 5 mins
I have problems with charging my X1 with my PC.
My X1 only charges when my PC is turned on, with my Elf (HTC Touch) it charges also when my PC was turned off.
So I thought X1 would charge too, when my PC is turned off.
But it seems it drains the battery out of my X1 :-s
So next morning, my X1's battery was empty (after 3 hrs charging on USB => then it was full, and let it connected with my pc in the night, when pc is turned off.
It was quite frustrating for me, but I really don't know why this happens to X1 and not with my Elf.
try taking out the battery, wait 5 mins, re- insert it.
Then start charging via wall socket. wait 5 mins again and then breifly press the power button, should vibrate once then turn on.
Last night my battery completely drained so I charged it over night and when I went to power it on it says booting WPH go go go, boots to the HTC green logo screen and powers off. I have been running WP7 flawlessly for 3 weeks now and have not had this problem before. I don't really want to reflash right now because I'm hoping there's a way to salvage everything in the phone.
Are you sure the battery charged last night...reason I ask is...when it completely drains the battery wont charge when the phone is off due to Magldr.
Yeah, it's off the charger right now and it just keeps powering off after the HTC logo
same exact thing just happened to me. I'm going to start from scratch and redo it.
I am curious to know as to what caused this, it's very odd since the ROM has been working flawlessly.
your not restarting with usb cable attached are you?
how did you charge your battery? external charger?
there is some talk that charging in magldr usb flasher mode works dispite no status lights BUT its unclear if the battery controller will auto cut off when full, overcharging could shag your battery
oh a while back i had some odd restart issue too, pretty much as you have mentioned, happened 4 times in a row then worked
Help me too!!!
Me as well, about an hour ago, my battery drained, so I plugged it in, and the phone keeps restarting, but then powers off...
I've kept it on the AC for the past hour, and now it no longer hit's the magldr, it just flashes the screen black, then dies...
Is there a way to JUST CHARGE my battery? Without having it in the phone?
too bad you didnt seach for this issue, i wrote a nice piece that would have got you out of that mess if you hadnt kept restarting it, oh well never mind,
if you cant even get to magldr then your looking at an external charger, you could try connecting up an old usb cable directly to the battery but be very careful!
This happened to my old HD2 after I gave it to my sister once I got my HD7, to enable it to charge again all I did was remove cable, remove battery. Re-insert battery and attach cable, hold down the volume down button on the side of the handset and press the power button.
The phone will turn on and show the tri-color screen. Leave it on this screen for 20 minutes and the battery will charge, then simply reboot and you will be able to boot back in to Windows Phone 7.

Thanks for that tip...I am going to remember it in-case I one day run into the same problem
so i let my battery drop to 0% and than went to charge it, but it was not charging at all. so after researching on the internet. i saw a few ways to make it work again. tried it at night and nothing worked so i gave up but i left it plug in the charger. in the morning i tried again by plugging the charger into another socket and held the power button for 30-45 sec and viola the notification light of hope started blinking!
Wasn't dead then...
i had that problem several times, with several devices.. it's not dead, it just happens (rarely)
if you let the battery die (phone turns off) you need a powered usb port to give it a kick start. i use an ipad wall charger and it works ok.
dont let the phone battery die on you
if you plug it in and hold the power button for 2-3 minutes the led lights will start to blink. than you leave it charging for an hour and than you can turn it on by holding power button.
Hi,
I have a nexus 7 2012 and it worked fine and runs CM 12. The other day I powered it off by pressing the power button then clicking the power off option in the power menu. When I turned it back on it didn't boot up and I ended up having to hold the power button for ages. Powered if off again the next day (only use it occasionally) and when I went to turn it back on it didn't boot again. This time though no matter how long I hold the button for or leave it on charge nothing happens.
I've tried everything from trying different charging cables, plugs, plugged it into laptop, pressing power + volume down and even pressing all 3 buttons. I've popped the back off and unplugged then plugged back in the battery. Nothing works there's no sign of life at all, no screen flickers no nothing I'm stumped. Think when I powered it off it was at 15% battery if that makes a difference?
Only conclusion I can come too is that the charging port is broke or the circuit. Sadly I don't have anything I can use to try and charge it using the four pin connector at the side to test it. Only thing I haven't tried is to "jump-start" the battery. Just take out battery and strip a usb cable and plug the power wires directly into the battery for half hour but not to sure whether to do that or not and wanna make sure I have exhausted all other options before trying that.
Any ideas?
Recently I noticed that my S8 was not fast charging when plugged into the wall outlet, but it was still at least charging albeit slowly. Yesterday the battery was down to 15%, I used a car charger on the way home, not really paying much attention to the battery percentage, but then when home used it for a couple minutes before plugging it onto the wall charger.
At that time I noticed it had shut off, figuring the battery was simply flat I left it for the night.
This morning I get up and it is unresponsive, if I push any buttons the LED will blink red a couple times then do nothing. I have tried to reset holding the power button and volume down and just get the same red LED blinking. Tried plugging it into a laptop charger, and still nothing.
Any suggestions before I send the thing back? Any way to access the pictures, contacts etc?
Thanks.

Laptop and car chargers are usually slow. Do get a new home charger with cable and even change the socket which you use to plug the charger in.

I have a smilar problem.
100% battery, charged overnight, at 9:00 the phone was working, at 9:45 it wasn't working... I had a green led blinking but no response from any key or combination. When I unplugged it the green blinking stopped but the phone doesn't respond. It doesn't automatically connect to wifi (I've restarted the router to see if it connects)
I'm proceeding to get a refund because mine is 5 days old (16/08/2017)

I know they are slow, but figure maybe the laptop can get it to at least power on. I have tried a different socked to plug the charger in, not going to go and buy a new home charger and cable though if the phone is unresponsive.

If I can get this to power on I am getting all my pictures, contacts and then dumping it. At the moment nothing gets it to power on, just a blinking red LED. It is barely 2 months old.
Edit: Looks like it will be a warranty replacement, the red light is blinking regardless of any type of charger I hook it up to. Any combination of trying to get it to reboot either normally or into recovery fails. My laptop recognizes something is plugged in, but that is as far as it goes. Hopefully I can get contacts off it at the very least, I also hate to turn in a phone without resetting it.
