i want to disable the stk menu from WM5
decause the STK menu always auto startup when i was using programs,I'm crazy!~!~!~
did anyone tell me how to do?
Thank u!!!
STK menu?
Yeap, STK Menu is the services which our provider ex. Vodafone put in the sim card.
Ok, I got an idea. Might sound stupid and is not the most ellegant solution but it will work: Why don't we put together a little program that deletes the shortcut and we put this program in the startup folder? This way the icon won't reappear after each soft-reset.
Can anybody here do this for me? Just a simple little program to delete the file. The one which needs to be deleted is:
\\Windows\Startmenü\Programme\Special.lnk
Thank you so much!
Can you change the title of this thread to a ? not a !
Otherwise it looks like you have an answer, not a question.
STK is partly to do with your sim, and partly your OS. What kind of SIM are you using? Ie a dual sim etc?
V
Hi! Sorry I can't edit the title as I didn't start the thread. I only have the same problem and thought about it.
I am using a T-Mobile Germany SIM. No Dual-Sim in the game. Do you have a better idea how to get rid of the shortcut being created after every softreset?
ROM: 2.18.7.7 GER (QTEK)
XDA II: don't worry, I wasn't asking you to change the title of the thread, I was talking to ncwjk
But I don't think your idea would work - how would you run your little program - you'd put it in the \startup\ folder.
So you would just be gambling that the phone would run your program before stk, since we can't be sure which one would run first. So STk might run first, or your program might be run first... not sure though. I don't use STK so can test it.
V
Ok, I can see your point. However I don't think there's anything to lose. If anybody can make that little program I am willing to try it. Worst case is that it does not work, or am I wrong?
Or is there a possibility to completely remove STK? You say you don't use it. I don't either, but it's there.... Can it be deactivated on the SIM maybe?
there is no way to disable it!
i got to China mobile to change a sim card without stk menu,
they told me,all sim card with stk menu now,so can't help me!
I got this new sim card in Jan,2006
my old sim card don't have this problem!
but, this time,i must use the new card number!
so,i hope there is a way to disable the stk menu!
help me~! tky

Anyone have a ROM of WM2003 that works w/ T-mobile USA? I tried about 5 and no luck. XDA dev Rom works great and so does my old one, but can't find a 2003 rom that works. All either hang at the boot/welcome screen or don't boot.
--Mike
So far I have tried 3 different 2003 roms.
The first the "O2" rom loaded, but gave me some intermittent problems.
The second “For Testing Only” rom worked great. Only one small problem with Microsoft reader. I most likely wouldn’t have changed except that the new ROMkitchen got me more excited than it probably should have.
Now I am using the ROMkitchen version very happily….(same problem with the reader though)
Interesting because I tried the ROMkitchen version yesterday and got the same, hangs on welcome screen result. Did you do anything special other than put it on SD with XDArit? I have Wallaby 5.15 bootloader which I think is what the unit shipped with but from what I've read this is fine.
I'm just at a loss because I've tried most everything I can think of. Which file type did you select from the ROMkitchen? I grabbed the nb1. Should I try NBF? Does it matter what I put in the "header string" at the bottom of the ROMkitchen page? I noticed when I try to upgrade it says my device is PW10B1. Does that matter?
Maybe you can post or email me your ROM and I can try that today.
--Mike
I didn't use the SD card boot with the Kitchen rom version. I had the Kitchen create an .exe file and let it load through usb. I actually did it 2 times...and it worked both times. Just did it the second time after they fixed PocketMVP.
I will e-mail it to you if you want, but I think that you should try creating an .exe through the Kitchen first...since that is what I would e-mail anyway.

The Hang that you see may be caused by the simtoolkit loading on startup. Try removing the link in the windows startup folder. that may help
My fellow T-Mobile WM2003 users, I have been using all 3 versions successfuly with no freezups. There is a little trick that increases stability when on the US networks:
Go to your \Windows\StartUp\ directory and DELETE Ussd.lnk and STK.lnk.
These are autoconfiguration apps that work with European providers but do nothing for the T-Mobile network; so much so, that with the T-Mo original ROM these apps were not used at all.
When these apps run in T-Mo's (Cingular's) network here in Los Angeles area, I've even experienced random cold resets when switching cell sites.
Ok, sounds like that's the problem then, but how do I remove this from the startup if I can't get it to go past the welcome screen? Can I bould a ROM in the kitchen w/o these options? I only saw an option for where to "move" these apps and not an option to not have them installed at all.
--Mike
Sorry, the kitchen doesn't allow you to do that. If you know how, you can burn your own rom and exclude these items. Anyone know what ussd is for? As mentioned, i have deleted the toolkit link and have not had any problems, just curious as to what ussd is.

Now it does...
Check the new 'Remove 'stk.lnk' from Startup folder' option. If someone tells me what ussd is and why it's bad, I'll add it to the remove list for this option...
Tried the new ROM w/ stk.lnk
Ok, I tried the new ROM and still no luck. Tried it as both .exe and as a SD flash and get the same net result. System hangs after bringing up the radio stack version and OS version as well as the third number which is: G324e4.
This device flawlessly runs the 3.17 xda ROM as well as T-mobile 3.14 so I don't understand why it will not take any 2003 ROM successfully. Any more ideas?
USSD
Unstructured Supplementary Services Data
USSD is a means of transmitting information or instructions over a GSM network. USSD has some similarities with SMS since both use the GSM network's signaling path. Unlike SMS, USSD is not a store and forward service and is session-oriented such that when a user accesses a USSD service, a session is established and the radio connection stays open until the user, application, or time out releases it. This has more in common with Data than SMS. USSD text messages can be up to 182 characters in length.
STK is for SIM ToolKit - It should not cause any problems unless you have a really old SIM Card.
I think USSD is basicaly a thing for ie. GSM banking - it allows the network to send you binary SMSes deciphered by the SIM (when I login with my GSM key to a bank account, I receive a message with temporary password, it is not sent through ordinary SMS, but delivered to the SIM toolkit area which is protected by PIN)

xda-developers,
might be a stupid question but, i checked the command to remove stk.lnk from startup in (one of the reigstry hacks) and the command is the same as to add object. how do u remove it from startup, is it based on the file name. this one has rmobj extension.
thanks

This thread might be worth a look:

A Hermes should have it, though the visible name depends on the SIM card used. Look for \Windows\STK_UIPPC.exe (you may need to turn on showing all and ROM files in your file explorer).
Thanks for the link Mike though I had already seen that thread and tried the files contained but no joy.
When I run STK.exe I get this message
'Your Sim Card has no application installed'
I did not have all the files on in my Windows folder. I did not have STK.exe. I also did not installed the extended rom... restarted the device straight after the ROM was updated. Is this the reason why?
I'm actually after it in order to see if I can use it to switch between Line1 and Line2 on my 64k sim. I've seen other threads about dual sim and people using Sim Tool Kit to switch between them.
You've answered yourself: your SIM card has no an STK application installed. So stop looking for a WM5 stuff, and, if you need an STK functions of your SIM, contact your operator for a SIM exchange.
Not every SIM card has an STK on it.

Thanks. I did find STK_UIPPC.exe but the Orange sim just gives a couple basic functions (i.e calling the operator), nothing for Line switching.
I just installed a new rom (UDK's Vega 8.0 r1) and am so hasseled by the annoying default contacts (ambulance; fire....and so on)
How do I delete these entries?
10x in advance
Itay
Are you sure that it's not from an application that you might have installed?
VERY SURE
clean install
they come from the sim card. I think (but not sure) that every phone courier has it burned into their sim card.
you can hide sim card contacts using the AdvancedConfig tool from Schaps, do a search to find it on the forum.
solution
I had the same...
Just install a config-app like schapps advanced config on your phone and uncheck "show sim contacts"....

ei,
nid help for my sim menu..
i tried to download 3 different roms in my PDA (O2 IIs) and all of them has the sim menu.
however, all of them has a problem accessing to this menus. (thats the reason why i reflash and reflash again different roms for me to check what is the problem.)
my sim is also a retailer sim and i read some of your post that your are also a retailer. so im asking if how did you manage to enter and have access to you sim.
ok, maybe you are having a hard time imagining what im trying to imply with "access" and "enter".
in my previous mobile phone (n70), i can send load one's number using the smart menu HOWEVER, in my PDA, although i can see the menu, enter in the first level where i can see the options like phonebook/inbox, buddy balance, PLDT load and etc. But when im trying to enter some of this options, there is no joy. I cant access this options. i cant select one of them. even clicking or double clicking it will not gain you the access to enter the 2nd level.
thus, i cant use them but i can see the first level.
So hope you can also help me with this. I have difficulty trying to extract my sim card and putting it to another phone just to load up myself and other mobile phone.
Thank you very much in advance for your response.. thanks.
Ill be waiting for it.
Thanks..

Yes, i saw somewhere else that doing it by cab didn't do the trick since it was impossible to update some areas which are embbeded in the ROM.
I have absolutely no idea and no know-how to do it.
I've tried on PDAVIET 19213 ROM download, but i can succeed. If you have the link for rapidshare or else, please tell me.

Ok, so i managed to download ROM WM6.1 CE OS 5.2.19213 (Build 19213.1.0.4 PV DVH) and installed it on my BA, and the STK Menu remains not working.
Any thoughts ?
