A couple of questions.... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Obviously my searching skills are useless because I couldn't find the answer to either of these questions myself...
Is there any way to reset the 'all calls' call timer on the Universal? I can only find an option to reset recent calls.
Also, is there any way to delete, or stop entirely, the device remembering new words which I use in a text? It's remembering incorrect words and its reallly annoying.
Thanks guys..

u can, but its a pain!
hers how u reset call timers....
for incoming -
1. check total duration of incoming calls made
2. call yourself from some other number
3. when the call is active, go change system date/ time settings backwards by the duration equal to that found in step 1
4. disconnect
for outgoing, do the same....but this time you call someone else!
eventually your TOTAL time drops to zero, if you did it right...
cheers,
S

How do i set the nr of times the phone rings before i answer

Can anyone tell me how to set the nummber of times the phone rings before it will go to voice mail or answer?
I don`t see any option for it so there must be a way to change a value in the registry.
My phone rings 3 times a little short, i have to run to answer, mostly i don`t make it verry annoying.
So if someone have a solution for me i`ll be grateful.
I think it's done by the network, not the phone
Your network will cut off the call to your phone and divert it to your voicemail. Your phone doesn't actually make a call to forward it.
The Carphonewarehouse guide to Vodaphone has these instructions so maybe ask your Network provider...
"To set the number of rings before your dial * * 61 * recall mailbox number * 10 * amount of seconds # followed by SEND"
You can disable the forwarding of calls in the phone settings but you can't set the time value. Some providers don't even allow you to unset the call forwarding with the GSM codes. But you can force them to disable it by calling the hotline. That's what I do. No reason for voice boxes since people can send SMS (which will be sent later if you are unavailable) and you often see the number of a callee in your display anyway. Voice boxes are good for the wallets of the providers but not for those of the costumers!

Answer - Voicemail delay

Anyone have any idea if you can change the amount of time before voicemail kicks in ?
Currently, with the slow recovery for ringtones, the phone only actually rings for about 15 seconds before voicemail kicks in - not really long enough.
Is this configurable anywhere ?
I would like to set it 45-60 seconds if possible.
Handset is on O2 if that has any bearing on things.
Love this place. SO much knowledge about !
Voicemail delay
Start Menu -> Settings
Personal Tab
Phone
Services Tab
Select "Call Forwarding" then Click "Get Settings"
It reads the details from the network..
You should see details on that screen of :-
"Forward phone calls only if:"
No answer..
Forward after <drop down list box>
Hope this helps.
Looks like the job. Thank you very much.

Duplicate contacts in Call history; How to delete/fix them?

I found it very annyoing; so please someone help:
First of all: in call history; it alway sets to all calls; that means showing missed/incoming/outgoing everything; Even if you put filter to missed calls only; next time you open history; it again reverts back to All calls filter; So QUES IS: how do you make HTC remember call history filter which you set up earlier (like show call history only)
2ND QUES:
even dumbest fone of Moto's shows this; when you call xyz from your ph.book, and called again, its shows 1 entry in call history (not every time you call it), but in HTC it shows 10 entry if you try to call 1 number and it's busy or not connecting; so how do i get rid of these duplications?
Help appericiated; ques sounds dumb but i'm rookie using PPC 1st time in life
same issues as above is there a fix? also is there a way to save text messages or lock them?

Call Timer

Does anyone know of a good call usage monitor. I use to have Phone Dashboard but I can't add this to the HTC Homepage. The call timer in Windows Mobile only monitors all calls not just outgoing calls, as far as I can see. Any ideas

Ummm....have you checked under the call history button on the dialer? When you launch your dialer, click on the call history button. If its showing you all calls click on menu-->filter and select only outgoing calls. It should show you only outgoing calls now as well as durations for each. At least that's how it is on WM6....I don't know if they've changed if for 6.1
Nope. You can view only the duration of the calls when you open Call History and select specific person in it. Or through Contacts -> Click contact -> Menu -> View all calls.
It is very disappointing, because at least I want to know the duration of the last call. Doesn't matter if I end up the call or the other party. This dialer doesn't show last call time!
Thanks [email protected].
However, the Call History lists all the calls made or have come in via the filter. However, I want to know how many minutes a month I have used and unless I try and add all the outgoing message together, I'm stuck.
Under Call History there is a button called menu which gives the option "Call Timer" but if you click on this it gives you the total number of calls made since last hard reset (I assume) and the number of minutes used since last reset. Most people, I would think, with a contract want to know the number of outgoing minutes since last reset (with reset being since the last cut off date for calls on their contract). This appears to be missing. Can anyone help or know a program that does this that could be intergrated with the HTC homepage.

I'll second that, any way of\software for knowing how many minutes have been used in the monthly bundle?
Try Home Screen Plus
Have you guys tried Home Screen Plus? Its a great piece of software...and If I'm not mistaken it does have a feature to track call timers etc. Give it a shot. Its free Make sure you download the latest version. I know of a lot of other older versions floating around.
that is a real cool app but also a little heavy just for the calltimer. Anything with a small footprint out there?
Thanks Guys. However, I want to keep the HTC homescreen but I don't think you can add bolt ons to it, so any homescreen add-on won't work. I need a program that runs on its own that monitors the minutes and then being able to access it via the programs tab.
Found - LCMinutes
Not the easiest to configure, but once you grasp the concept it's a doddle (and elaborate).
LCMinutes :X
so i played around with LCMinutes and all it did was give me a headache! lol
i found this and wanted to share:
hxxp://www.hudsonmobile.com/products/phodash/index.html
is very very neat and a very easy to configure
ta
I had heard it didn't work on the HD but if it does, how about sharing it on the wiki
Can anyone comment if this works with TF3D?
Call timer on Dutty´s Touch HD 2.1 is missing?
Hi there!
Anyone having problem with a missing call timer on Dutty's 2.1?
Or should I do a hard reset?
Thanks!
I am using phone dashboard which I find is very good and should suite your needs. Without Today screen it is a pain to use but still possible. Goto settings->Today then highlight the plugin and options. There is one tab which shows you the usage. But you have to "regenerate" the data before viewing.
Alternative, why dont you just run TouchFlo + Today screen (using TFD or SecondToday).
I know phoneAlarm also have a call duration tracking but phoneAlarm is just too much of hassle to configure.

Ringtone Length

I've had a quick search for this but can't find it and its probably something blindingly obvious, but how can you change the length of time the phone rings for before cutting out to voicemail?
Thanks in advance Carl

that depends on your carrier & how many rings/seconds it takes before the VM picks up. for example, Sprint is 20 seconds from first ring to VM - unfortunately on Sprint's network there is no way to change the time from 20 seconds more or less - i think some other carriers allow you to change that option - you can always call your carrier to find out or call your cell & time it to find out how long it takes before VM picks up - then you would know how long to make your ingers if you happen to make your own.
Hope that helps
I found a registry setting for WM Standard once that allowed me to increase my ring time from about 4 rings to about 5 (from about 20 seconds to about 30). It wouldn't ring any longer than that no matter how many seconds I set it to ring, but it was something.
That was for a smartphone, but it seems to me a similar setting ought to be found in WM Pro's registry...
Too bad I can't remember what it was (that was 3 phones ago!).
You can change it by:
Start --> Settings --> Phone --> Services
choose option Call Forwarding --> Get settings
Now it will display the settings for forwarding calls. Here you can also change the seconds before getting voicemail(max 30 seconds if supported by your operator).
greetz
I dont have the option of "Call Forwarding " how can i get it ????
bump . . . . .
Thanks Caspertje Its been bugging me for about 6 mounths and it was in my face all the time god I fill silly.
no matter what you do with the phone settings this is controlled by your service provider.
Most phone providers world wide only allow for a maximum of 30 seconds ring time. this is done because they dont want to the available lines tied up that are ringing for extended periods.
