HI,
I have been using a jam for about 1 1/2 years. I got my K-JAM today. It seems when I plug my K-JAM into to usb, my wireless internet connectivity hangs on my computer and I need to unplug the K-JAM and reboot my machine to get it back online. When it hangs the IP of the wireless card also changes but the connectivity is not there. Sometimes I have to reboot the Belkin Router to which the notebook is connecting. When I plug the Jam in, I dont have this problem. When I plug the K-JAM in I am able to sync with the computer however. It seems that there is perhaps a clash between My wireless network card and a componet in the K-Jam. Any ideas ??
Lots of USB problems with Activesync . It seems the new drivers strip memory allocations for other devices , my work laptop blue screens costantly asking me to remove the drivers. You could try activesync 4.1 available at buzzdev.net this may help with your problem.
Thanks for the suggestion wardy. I tried it and still no work. I wonder if it has something to do with the J-JAM DHCP server ( does it even have one ) if so why would it try assign an ip to my notebooks wifi card ?
I really doubt the K-JAM has a DHCP server... why would it? Its not switch or a gateway.
Thats what I would think. But as soon as I plug the KJAM in my wireless card hangs and when I look at its ip it is completey differnt range.... I am really confused. Also I have tried this several times, but when I plug the Kjam into my notebook, the whole network goes offline (internet) test from another computer on the network) and I have to reboot the reuter. Very strange ( am am not a noob with computers etc so it is really iritating me )
Hi all. I've connected the xda (with WLAN card) to an adhoc net at home and was able to browse the net/connect around (via broadband through a gateway comp). Now I want to hook it up with a laptop (doesn't have wifi) as a wireless adapter. How exactly do I connect the two? Is it by "wireless modem"? Any pointers appreciated. Thanks.
Yep,
You need the driver & usbmodem_dialer. Lucky you I uploaded it a week ago to the ftp under usb_modem. It contains the inf for the laptop, the dialer & a document with the steps to follow

Hi. Thanks for the advice. But I'm not trying to dial GPRS as internet in the PPC is already provided by the SD WLAN card. I'm trying to connect the laptop w/ the PPC so that it can use the internet in the adhoc network. Can it work in the setup? Also, Im assuming that the "wireless modem" software in PPC has to be running? Thanks!
Just follow the document, including the start of the wireless modem program. I think it will work with wifi as well, haven't got a wifi card yet. Maybe Santa can arrange one.
Cheers, M
Well, I tried that and it didn't work. Error 777 or something. Can't connect. Thanks anyway. Seems that the whole thing is suited for GPRS connections. Tried several times on my laptop but it timed out.
Take a good look at the modem init-string. Sometimes I've to add a ,0
Done that (just add ,0 to the end of APN in the extra strings?) but still no go. I'm really confused now. Queried the modem and it seemed to respond just fine. As I'm not going to use the GPRS at all, what should I put in username, password and APN? Also, what about "preset GPRS" in wireless modem? Thanks.
Frankly I don't know, I'm a gprs user and hoped this could solve your problem. Maybe it's only for gprs usage. APN & user/password are usually for gprs & I only had errors in 600 range.
Regards, M
Well, seems that I've hit a brick wall here. Thanks for all the help anyway.
im still with you sekinoss - this woud be a cool thing to do.
As a semi literate PC user I get to go to a lot of poeples places and sort their pc problems (for my sins!)
I've a friend who isnt internet savvy and has a wireless setup for his wifes laptop downstairs and his own pc connecteed to a modem(!) upstairs. Hes non intenet savvy and I want to get windows updates etc for him for the upstairs pc which is generally not net connected. I'd love to just take my PPC there with a usb lead and use it to get him on broadband wireless upstairs and update his windows machine properly. (He usually doesnt bother with the windows updates as they 'take too long' on a modem. Hmm.) Surely this would be a cool use of the PPC - I can't understand that there seems to be no software/method to do this sort of thing.
Ah well! :?:
hi all, im new to PDAs and have no idea. im trying to get my XDAii on the net, network, email etc using my wireless SD through my router. the router is set up right as my friend brought his PDA round and his connected fine
on the router im using a shared key, my XDA is at out of the box state. no settings changed apart from my contacts which has been added. i know its not the SD wireless card as it worked in my friends pda. and also my router it tiptop as it worked on my friends PDA also.
Basically what im after if possible is a step by step guide how to set it up. i have the default drivers as to be honest. i cant find a site with spectec drivers. and i have the WLAN software installed. when i soft reset the card is picked up as settings/connections/advanced/network card its showing connected. but i cant get my email, internet or anything internetty to work or use the wirless setup. it tries to connect via gprs etc. i dont understand all these network profiles. all i have in there is MMS network, my work network, and my ISP
I have gone into each of these settings to try and edit these to accept my wirless(dont know why as im clueless) but there isnt anywhere to say. wiless card. it only says cellular line etc in the set up modem
Bottom line i dont know what does what. im new to PDA's
So if possible could someone give me a step by step guide on how to set it up?
wireless card is spectec 802.11g model
Hey!
I dont remember well but once when i was checking some sites about qtek programs Ive found something that would help me using my qtek as a wireless modem... and i couldnt find it back again
I was wondering if theres any program that would make my laptop get connected to internet through wireless card by running a program on qtek and connecting it through usb to a computer thats already connected to internet...
HELP...... I am trying to get a Qtek 9100 to connect via WIFI. I also have an HP 2210 with a WIFI card fitted and can connect to two WIFI routers OK. These are both configured as Open networks without encryption. However, when I try to do the same with the Qtek I can see the routers but cannot connect to them.
I have tried everything I can think of to sort this problem including doing a Hard reset but have run out of ideas.
Any/all thoughts welcome!
