Phone on vibrate while sounds on for everything else - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I want the phone to stay on vibrate but I wan't to be able to listen to my MP3's and control the volume on everything else on the unit is there away to do this it seems like the phone ringer has to be turn on for any other sounds to work.

Volume of SMS doesn't follow "phone volume"

Hello,
Is there any way to either set the SMS notification volume explicitly or to make it behave like the phone volume?
As it is now it follows the device volume, which I most often turn off to stop getting annoying beeps and clicks.

andreakn - Did you ever get a fix for this? If so I would love to hear what it was.
I have exactly the same problem/annoyance.
I wondered why I kept missing texts, and it was because I had the volume turned right down. I only assumed it was controlled via the phone volume as that would be sensible but apparently not. Anyone know of a way to fix this?
Now I'm bumping this..
Ok, I really hate bumping this much but there must be an app of some description..
I'd be very interested in this too if anyone has a solution.

I use PocketZenPhone, and there you have to set device volume to at least 01 to get any SMS sound or Vibration. On that level though there aren't any beeps and clicks...
PZP uses the devices standard controls, so the conclusion is, SMS sound are dependent on the device volume, not the phone volume, but when you set it to the lowest level you can have at least vibration.

[Q] Notifications not staying on silent

Anyone else have a problem where notifications keep reverting to using sounds ? I like to keep mine on vibrate so i go into Sound and turn notification volume all the way down (why they have no "silent" option for notifications, i dont know !!!). It will work for a little while and then i start hearing my notification sounds again so i look in settings, and notification sound is set back to 20% or so. Only way to fix it is to use silent mode, but that would affect phone calls as well which i dont want.

System tones play twice.

I just bought a used Nexus 4 and this is my first Android device so I'm not sure if this is normal.
I flashed it to the newest stock 4.4 ROM today and TWRP.
When the phone plays a system tone (like pressing a menu button, typing on keyboard, etc.) for the first time you hear it twice, but overlapping, like the tone played and then a split second later it played again. If you continue to make sounds it doesn't do that anymore.
If I put the speaker up to my ear I can hear it hissing and then stop.
As soon as I hear the hissing stop it will do the double overlapping tone again if I make another tone.
My guess is every time the system needs to re-initialize the audio it's doing this.
Has anyone else encountered this or know of a fix?
I also noticed that if I have the phone in Silent Mode I can hear a "pop" from the speaker once in awhile when pressing the navigation menu buttons.
I turned off "Touch sounds" and the pop went away.
Anyone else have this problem?

[Q] headset notification problems

Hi, just upgraded from my Galaxy Note to the z1 yesterday.
Very impressed with the phone so far, but I have encountered one strange problem that I can seem to find no other comments about.
When I connect a headset (the bundled one, specifically) and turn my phone to silent mode so I can enjoy my audiobook in peace without being bothered every time I get a new promotional email, the notification sound plays over and pauses my audio book.
It does this no matter whether I turn the phone to silent, vibrate, turn the ringtone and notification volume to 0, and whether or not I make these changes manually or allow the smart connect app to make them for me.
The strange thing is, it only plays the notification sounds when something is playing through the headset. When I'm sitting just using the headset as a handsfree then everything behaves as expected - if a notification comes in, the phone will vibrate, flash the notification led, but won't make a peep otherwise. But as soon as media is playing, the phone seems to make up its own mind to vibrate and play the notification sound even though I've put it on silent.
Am I the only one experiencing this bug, or, more surprisingly, am I the only one who finds it hugely irritating?
sorry, just noticed i posted this in the wrong section, please close.

[Q] Volume Options: Ringer & Media

Okay so hopefully someone here knows how to do this. Did some googling but couldnt find something specific. I link ringer and notification volumes.
Previously on android phones, when setting the ringer volume to Vibrate, my phone would vibrate for all notifications/calls, and media would be completely muted. Alarms would still play sound.
Now, when I set my ringer to vibrate, media will still play sound as if i didnt set the phone to vibrate. Alarms still function as expected. Do you know if there is a way for the phone to silence media as well when put in vibrate mode?
