Hi all,
New to the forum and looking for some advice about ROM upgrades (I'm not a developer, so please bear with me).
I'm trying to find out if there's a newer ROM image that I can install on my new S200, but struggling to find the official support site.
Entering my IMEI number at qtekcorp tells me that a company called Teleservice offer support on this product, but they don;t know anything about it. Brightpoint won't accept my IMEI number for accessing their ROM section, so there doesn't seem to be any official support for the S200. That seems to leave this site as the only way to upgrade the device
I'm currently running:
ROM: 2.9.7.24 WWE
Radio: 02.07.20
Protocol: 413.1.03
ExtROM: 2.9.7.106
Can anyone tell me if there's (a) an official firmware patch out for this, (b) where I can get it, and (c) if not, can any of the other ROMs on here be used to get a newer version of OS on my device?
Many thanks,
Pete
Same problem with my Italian S200, qtekcorp after entering IMEI tells to go to teleservice website.
There's another company distributing Qteks in europe. Dangaard - http://www.dangaard.com/dangaardtelecomuk/
BrightPoint doesn't support Dangaard distributed devices.
Have a nice day,
Ricardo Afonso

Hello i was wondering if the above ROM updates will work on my QTEK 1010:
ROM Version: 3.16.13 ENG
Radio Version: 3.19.01
I mean anyone tested if before or managed to upgrade his QTEK with the above ROM versions from O2 and were there any complications!!
:?: :?: :? :?: :?:
Thanks
Yes I did and it worked fine. I have it running on T-Mobile MDA, Qtek 1010 and Eurotel dataphone (rebranded Qtek). No problems.
I tried to upgrade and got the following error:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ROM Image that you are trying to upgrade is not compatible to your pocket pc.
Here are there differences:
Your device information:
ModelW10A:007
ROM Version: 3.16
Language: English
Your upgraded image information
ModelW10A:001
ROM Version: 3.15
Language: English
Please download the compatible utility and try again

So where is the problem?
Thanks

It has been answered a few times, look through fora. it's a general pocket pc language change question, but applies to this one too. You need to rewrite the ROM header to match your device. Can be sort of tricky if you don't know what you're doing.
Did you install it
I have the same qtek with 3.16 and 3.19 shall I do it or wait to uk version?
If you don't mind O2 startup screen & O2 autoconfig...

Hi,
My advise to you is to try to get the latest rom upgrade from
either your supplier or distributors.
Also be very wary and careful when you got advice from this
forum on where or which website to download etc especially the
one which you do not have any informations if it suit your device
or not. If it is not suitable then after downloading it to your device
it will freeze up and you have to get it replaced. These people who
give advise take for granted everyone who view this forum are
professional like them. They never realise there are lots of new
users of the device that are trying to find out more informations.
Sometimes no warning was given to you when they just give you
the website to download etc.. I am one of those new user and also
I believe one of the victims too. I do support their intetests in this
forum but not the way some of the advise are given. Hope they
got the message. So good luck to you and happy upgrading.
Why on earth would you want to go from 3.16/3.19 to 3.15/4.16? Makes no sense to me...
bamse: because it's better
I'am used xda radio upgrade 4.16.00 with qtek
it is fine
Hello,
I have a Qtek 2020i which has an english ROM (the details are at the bottom).
This was bought in Portugal.
Where can I find compatible ROM, Radio, Protocol and ExtRom upgrades?
Thx
JM
ftp://xda:[email protected]_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped.rar
with Radio versoin 1.04
Hello,
How do you know it is compatible with Portugal's mobile operators?
Does this upgrade include the Protocol version 1337.42?
Where can I find the changes between my current version and this one?
Something like a ChangeLog (if you know the terminology).
Thx
JM
Essential, each of the devices from different suppliers is the same, apart from maybe the casing.
The operator settings are stored in the extended rom (search the forum for instructuions on how to access this), and these are what you are likely to need to get it working properly.
I am in the UK and just wondering what is the latest O2 Rom that i can download for my magician
do O2 have a download page or would i be best to get if the the FTP site
Please Help
Marc
Yes O2 do have a download site, you need to register to get access (at least for Australia where I am).
The latest O2 ROM appears to be
Xda II mini System ROM upgrade for English version (May 2005)
ROM: 1.11.00 WWE
Radio: 1.11.00
ExtROM: 1.11.922 WWE
MMS: 2.0.0.22
I have applied this with no problems.
There is a later version posed for the Generic device at this forum V1.12.
Instructions at:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade
Various downloads at:
ftp://xda-developers.com/Magician/
However it's buyer beware some of the ROM floating around can cause problems. So do a full backup before applying any of them.
In short,
If you are asking what the latest is and best, I would stick with the O2 ROM (also at the XDA-Developers FTP) for stability (assuming you have an O2 Mini).
However some of the other ROMS have some of the more adventurous features (like extended ROM), so if you are prepared to spend some time being adventurous then go for it, remember to backup!
Hi,
I'm a new (and already happy) owner of this fantastic device.
I've bought the VODEFONE 1640 ITA and suddenly upgraded with latest italian I-MATE ROM image.
The new ROM image works well but I find out that the RADIO IMAGE installed (1.9.0.0) it's older than the original (1.14.0.0).
Right now those are the version of my ROM:
Radio Version: 1.09.00
Protocol Version : 42.42.P8
ExtROM Version: 1.30.81 ITA
Considering I'm a dummy, what are the main differences on those versions?
Moreorer anytime I start the phone I get the error message: "I-MATE CONFIGURATOR application is compatibile only with I-MATE devices. It's suggested to disinstall this apps from the device"
Did I do something wrong or it's a common error after a ROM upgrade?
Thank you for your support and long life to the HTC!!!
Pablo
Please finish reading the following links, although this are all WWE ROMS. You can get the language pack from Asukal's thread.

It is 1.09.00, not 1.9.0.0. Radio 1.09.00 is not too bad a Radio, but again it depend on your network in your area. So the only way to find out which is the best, you have to try it out, because different version works for different person.
HTC products seems to be not getting any better as more competitors are coming up with equal and better devices. Although now Universal is still in its own class, but next year there should be some or at least 1 of such product to give us more choice. Anyway read more in this forum and also my 1 year experience using this device and you will find that the mechanical & battery of Universal by HTC really sucks!
Hey all,
I opened up my HTC HD2 today and first thing I thought I'd do is to upgrade its rom to the latest official release from HTC.
Unfortunately, when I go to http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=856 ( Release Date: 2010-01-25 ) and enter my serial, I'm told "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device"
From Googling and looking on here it would seem that most people who receive this message are tied to their operators rom and therefore can't 'officially' upgrade.
I got my phone from ebay 'sim free'. Currently things look like this on the phone:
OS version: 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
ROM version: 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE
ROM date: 10/26/09
Radio version: 2.04.50.22_2
Could this be a phone that was bought from an operator, though the phone has no signs of branding?? i.e. normal HTC startup screen, no logos on casing, etc.
I was hoping to use the latest official ROM on this device as not to void my warranty. Can anyone decypher from the above info why my phone can't get the latest ROM from HTC, and how to go about getting it?
Thanks in advance!!!
Just an update - I've assumed that the phone was never an official 'HTC sim free' - therefore with no time to waste (cut my losses, I should have checked before purchase) I've HardSPL'd it and am going to flash it with 1.66 WWE once its done downloading.
Oh well, I'm sure I would have HSPL'd it eventually anyway, curiosity always gets the better of me with these devices. Now to look into some custom rom business...!
All the HD2s have no branding but can be vendor locked in that the operator needs to approve ROMs for release. for example, Vodafone took a couple of months 2 release the 1.66 ROM afer HTC released it
