Alright... I need a good (great?) task manager.
I have used SPB and Magic Button. I like SPB but it is too difficult to hold in the corner of the screen on my Wizard (8125) and I dont want to install ALL of it just for that (I use resco explorer and I like it better then SPB's addins to the default file explorer.)
Magic button was the next logical choice because it puts the icon in the middle of the screen and that's what I use now, but I'm not crazy about it. Anyone have any other suggestion? I am looking for something that is one hand friendly and lite weight and fast (of course, I want it ALL! lol)
Thanx in advance; Lew
Hi Lew...
You might want to try this http://www.insoftwarehouse.com/desktop/products/inclose/index.php?l=en
or you could try Wisbar Lite at http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products.php?prod=WisBar+Lite
there seems to be some kind of conflict with every single task manager I've used so far:
InClose Mobile: freezes my Pictures & Videos app
Wisbar: doesn't close correctly on many windows such as Resco explorer options, and wallpaper changing. It simply ends the window thus discarding any changes you make.
Magic button: Made some of my status icons on the top bar disappear
still looking for the perfect app...

You know it has two display modes, right? If you tap-and-hold the OK/close button, it will switch between showing the Magic Button icon + running programs icons, and just showing your regular bar. I have it set up to just take up the whole task bar space, and usually show my regular bar. If I need to switch apps, I can just tap and hold and tap the icon of the app I want active.
I have tryed those 2 now and I am back to Magic Button. The MAIN reason... It is too hard to HOLD the corner of the screen with my thumb on the 8125, I guess because the border of the screen is raised so much. Ah well back to what works I guess.
Thanx guys; Lew
Hi,
You can also try Xbar. You can find it with Google. It is not freeware but very cheap. It is a completely different idea from a taskmanager. You use the Actionbutton to call on the Xbar and then you can switch or close tasks or open programs without using the stylus.
I've been using it for a couple of months now after using every taskbar on the market for the last 4 years...
Wouter
If you want a proper task manager, this is pretty much definitive:
http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,59/func,view/catid,27/id,15472/#15472
By one of Buzz's boys, DotFred. It's superb.
But that's really for tech heads. If you just want to close apps, use SMclose or similar.
If you really just want one handed task closing, check out VJOkButt on the board (not my website, versions on here are newer). It has various options but is very simplistic, but does close apps one thumbed.
V
I bought xbar3, its a great very straightforward piece of software.
You can find information on it here
I've previously used handyswitcher which i didn't enjoy, because it listed 'phone' as a running application and tried to close it.
best app closer/task manager hands down:
PocketNav 2.74 http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff/pocketnav.zip
Free and just a simple .exe to throw in your startup. If you don't like it, just delete it. I've been using it for several years now and have tried others. I always come back quickly...

I like SmallMenu Plus, a launcher/manger, highly configurable, can replace STart menu. There is a free version, but for a couple $$ you get a lot more functionality. It's the first program I install.

Guys… what am I missing here? I’m managing tasks via tray launch and have no complaints but then I’m a noob and don’t know any better. Please let me know if this is dumb. TIA
I have my first two tray launch links set to “AltTab” and “Running Programs”. From Today, I navigate down w/dpad and have task switcher tool there. Move one right and I can kill apps via OEM system tool.
Picture 1 shows tray icons. First (far left) is AltTab and second is Running Programs (created under ZeBoxx’s tutelage).

Just a convenience thing E.g. like a on a desktop, you could run Task Manager, click the task you want, and then choose Activate or End Task. But you could also alt-tab to go to the application you want active, and you can click the buttons on your taskbar to switch to them directly, or close them from there.
Personally I still like MagicButton best, but there's a ton of these types of apps out there, all with different styles and functionalities. I'd say just try some of them - if you don't like it, just uninstall

Thanks for that tip I like small programs and it works well with smclose. I found magic button a bit glitchy and hid icons on the nav bar so I could not see missed calls etc.
Another small app to my collection
If you have not tried smclose it is attached and just put in startup folder as well and it will close rather than minimize apps.
I ask myself then do I need a task manager with all apps closed lol

Hello Ipasq, i'm using PHM Tray Launch, could u please inform me how i can put the "AltTab"?
TIA
I've been playing around with SKMenu and it seems to work really well on my 8125. It is a bit to get configured but once you scan through the options is it pretty simple. The custom menu editor with the preview is very very nice when creating custom menus.
Overall its not bad for $8. If it continues to play nice with all the other junk on my PPC I am sold.

Has anyone figured out how to hide or exclude certain applications from the close processes list (ie. Activesync, Phone, etc)? There is a settings button in the general tab of the smenu settings but it is disabled. Anyone figure this one out?
TIA!

i put AltTab.exe in \windows and placed shortcut in \windows\start menu\programs too. then used the following command line in PHM Traylnch: \windows\alttab.exe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42913&highlight=)
the AltTab in the tray along with water's sweet "smartskey" work fine for me and seem to give me the task management control i need. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060&highlight=)

Can't do it. The one that can, which is very similar to SmallMenuPlus (but free) is GSPocketMagic.

Play around with the settings, it's pretty powerful!

30 June 2006:
Please note:
ToggleNew, ToggleStart and ToggleToday are WM2003 apps ONLY.
VJToggleToday II alpha is WM5 only. You can download the alpha release here. But please read the thread from the end, backwards, to find out its limitations.
Remember that you can launch it with the command line
Code:
-config
to show the settings.
_________________________________________________
23 Oct 2005 Guys, this is a newer beta version. Read second page of thread for info
Guys:
This is hopefully the new and slightly improved version of my today screen hacks seen here and here.
This version is hopefully startup folder safe - I drop it into my startup folder and it does the business quite safely.
- This has been only tested on PPC2003; it should work fine on all PPCs.
- I'm not sure what it will do on WM2005 - Buzz, anyone? It should be fine at removing the Start Bar on WM2005 - but you don't have the equivalent New bar to remove to begin with.
- ToggleStart should work fine on VGA, but ToggleNew will not.
Try it - tell me if it crashes out. Don't put it in your start folder until you know it works. If it works, great!
I don't think this is Wisbar compatible, read page 3 of the thread!
So recall: this program or suite of programs can remove the New bar at the bottom of the today screen. It can also remove the start bar at the top of the screen, shrinking it down to 2 pixels for use in the following manner with PhoneAlarm or your weapon of choice:
After Installation of ToggleNew:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After Installation of ToggleStart:
ToggleStart in use:
Dual functionality - tiny start bar at the top of the screen, alongside PhoneAlarm:
Please uninstall the old version of VJToggleStuff before installing the new version.
CAB version
Individual .exe if required:
ToggleNew
ToggleStart
TodayToggle
Ok - so the cab should install 3 files into \program files\VJSoft\
it should also make some shortcuts in your Programs Menu.
We have 3 files:
BEGINNERS guide:
ToggleNew.exe will Toggle on and off the "New" bar at the bottom of your today screen.
ToggleStart.exe will Toggle on and off the Start bar at the TOP of your today screen. PLEASE ensure you know how to use the shrunken Start bar - it's still there, but tiny and along the top edge. OK button is still where it should be, top right corner of the screen (see the screenshots above). Please read the old threads to get the idea, or just try it! Soft reset if you get stuck.
Beginners can ignore TodayToggle.exe.
ADVANCED USERS:
TodayToggle.exe The three files are actually the same program - but some people will like to assign them to a hardware key to toggle things on and off on a whim so I've made ToggleNew and ToggleStart toggle the single item. However, TodayToggle will, by default, toggle BOTH the New bar and the Start bar at the same time - if that's what you want and know how to use the shrunken start bar.
However, the programs take a command line option if you are secure with creating shortcuts:
Code:
TodayToggle.exe menu
will toggle the New menu bar ONLY
Code:
TodayToggle.exe start
will toggle the Start bar ONLY
Code:
TodayToggle.exe both
or
Code:
TodayToggle.exe
will toggle both at the same time
If you're confident in creating shortcuts, you can get rid of ToggleNew.exe and ToggleStart.exe, and just use TodayToggle.exe with command lines.
Note that TodayToggle.exe also contains three icons, so using something like claunch or a shortcut you can assign the Min, Max and UpDown icons as appropriate.
/end of advanced user guide
All:
I hope you find these useful. Read the old threads to get the hang of what you can do with it.
You can get my phonealarm skin from here. Please read this thread to read how to use it with ToggleStart.
I consider this software beta until you guys report back and say it's ok or worst case, it turned your PDA into a Nokia.
Don't forget - after installing these hacks you'll need a bigger wallpaper to fill the extra space! If you don't, the wallpaper tiles itself.s
Also - if you use something like SPB battery monitor at the top of the screen, you won't be able to use a shrunken Start Bar (ie ToggleStart) correctly. Disable it or read this thread
Please post screenshots if you do anything nice with this stuff.

August 31 2005:
- SIP keyboard panel issue [Grumble's post]. It will hide itself in normal use
Nice work Vijay but (you knew it was coming didnt ya) the function I wanted this app for was the Hide New. When I run it, 'new' disappears as expected but leaves a white line in its place. Also if I exit an app it leaves the input button showing (see screenshot).
Is this something to do with the size of the bitmaps created for themes ?
Oh well a nice app anyway and Im sure I can get used to the white line
Yep Grumble, this issue is posted on the old threads - I'll update the first post to remind users - you now need a bigger wallpaper to fill the screen
The white line was actually on your wallpaper to begin with! The PPC tiles the wallpaper if it's not big enough - so it's actually repeating your wallpaper, white line and all. The white line is actually hidden behind the start bar at the top of your screen normally. Try running togglestart to see!
I've noticed the keyboard input thing - it seems to disappear in normal usage.
V
The case here is that your wallpaper ain't big enough. PLease remember when the people made their TSK, they did not put into consideration that the bottom bar could be knocked off. I have the same problem but I just made a way to cover it up. As for the keyboard being there, I noticed this problem comes when you have MortPlayer installed and when you hit the red phone button to take it off your screen. Basically it leaves the keyboard item there.
Mvmajorem - did you try the new version?
I had to rewrite the thing from scratch in Visual Studio 2005. I'm not sure if I screwed anything up on the way.
V
I've tried the new plugin and it does leave the keyboard behind ruining what you wanted to achieve in the first place.
Still thanks for the release, the icon you used now is better, that is all i can say.
BTW, is there a way to make the Start Bar transparent or even change the Start button icon without the use of 3rd party software.
Guys, if the keyboard icon comes up, try pressing the green call button and then going back. It should be gone. I might look into this issue if it's a big problem.
Transparent start bar - kinda possible, but not without some 3rd party software as far as I know. I might look into knocking something together, but I'm working on a couple of other hacks and something that might make ToggleToday even more useful I hope. It's more important right now
V
Vijay,
I've gone back to the older version. I like it much better without the keyboard sticking out.
I love the program!
BTW: Where can I learn to make these kinds of software?

This is great. The two combined and on one hardware button.
This is my screen ;
Kill Bob, Mick, Harry - any of them, I just don't care !!!
Rick GM - lovely!
I've got a couple more refinements to make... will try and keep you posted.
Rick - did you notice the problem with the SIP (keyboard icon) with the previous version? I'm not really doing anything different with this version, but the SIP icon pops up occassionally. I can force it to hide, but it would require reworking the program into something that will eat CPU. I don't want that - if you find the problem, just press the green key (call button) and go back and it should be gone.
I've had to enlarge my NotesToday as well because there's so much more room now!
It seems like no one is interested in my new program which goes nicely with a fresh Today screen - it causes the today to pop up on hardware keypress, but only stay onscreen for as long as you hold the button. So eg you're in Contacts, but want to check NotesToday, you can pop into Today and back again to Contacts with no clicks.
Keep posting screenshots and/or problems!
V
Vijay
The keyboard icon does stay after you close an application but I just press my Toggle hardware button twice (diasble/enable) and it's gone.
Haven't tried the new app yet but am more than happy with the functionalityof what you've already done!
Does anybody know - where to get this plugin?
[/img]
Is it normal that after a soft reset, the files are gone?!!!
vijay555
Could you please pack your skin in cab file, i don't understand how to install it. Thank you in advance!
Vijay,
Anyway you can address the keyboard issue ? That did not exist with your previous version.
BTW, this works awesome is start up. Had not had issue with it at all.
Please! Solve the SIP issue, it s really annoying. It s good app!
Guys, this is an update to my old program VJSmallIcons. To say it's long overdue is an understatement
This version retains and persists settings between folders. It can also make the Programs launcher fullscreen. When you go fullscreen, there is a menu option to permit navigation back up to the previous folder.
On a whim, for no good reason at all, I've also implemented my interpretation of the Vista View Mode slider, as seen here in Vista.
The slider can be used to toggle modes. Even if you don't need the app, try the slider! I quite like it  Hopefully you'll see this again in VJSihaya.
Normal Mode
{

}

Available on my website!
V
nice unlike the first one, this one works on my device %)
the slider's a bit silly, I suppose, but kinda cute
( are you supposed to be able to drag it? only seems to respond to taps )
However... I just got stuck in a subdir :x VJSmallIconsII disappeared, and tapping 'OK' (which normally goes a dir up) did nothing. Not sure what I did to get in that state. Edit: Found it, check follow-up posts
and a suggestion... the 'go up one level' bit, perhaps it should carry the name of the level above, instead of the current level?
bug report.. if you run it twice, you will seemingly just be using VJSmallIconsII as normal. But changing any of the modes does nothing. If you exit it, it becomes apparent that you were already running it a copy of it - as that instance with its view (which changes correctly) is still there.
btw - nice UI (not sarcasm.. it really is nice!)
whewps.. now it locked up my device >_< I'll try and repro
yay repro
I have PHM PPC Powertoys installed, so I have a dir structure...
"\Program Files\PHM Tools\PHM PPC Powertoys\"
from a fresh boot:
1. Start > Programs (required first-run)
2. Start > VJSmallIconsII (in program history, still)
3. Start > Programs > PHM Tools > PHM PPC Powertoys
4. Tap VJSmallIconsII floater
result: floater disappears
expected result: pop up menu should appear
at this pont everything still seems fine - you can navigate around, etc.
5. Tap OK button
result: nothing happens, you're stuck at this level
expected result: should go up a level
-----
With MagicButton running - Steps 1-4
5. Tap (MagicButton) OK button
result: device locks up
expected result: should go up a level
-----
I don't know if it's the length of the folder name, or the fact that there's two spaces, or... etc. Can't keep poking at it right now
ZeBoxx: Many thanks.
I'll look into the hang. That's not when you're running it twice is it?
It's hanging because it's subclassing the Programs screen, and if for some reason VJSmallIconsII crashes, it'll take the Programs screen down with it.
It does contain code to detect multiple instances, but it occurs to me that because of the way the window is created it's probably not being detected. I didn't contemplate it being run twice I'll fix that!
Yes, slider responds to taps not sliding  Not sure if I'll fix that! At least for now, it's just GUI...
The folder name - good idea, although it's basically for showing what the current folder name is, if you've got it in fullscreen mode and can't see for yourself. I don't mind incorporating either way, whichever you guys think is most logical.
Bug is confirmed with PHM (I have a similar folder structure). I'll look into it when I get home.

What os is this supposed to work with? I put it on my 2002 devices and no go. I don't like to try unfinished stuff on the newer phones that I actually use (as phone).
This is a bit off topic....
vijay555, your programs alway seem so slick. You obviously put a great deal of work into them. My question is, why spend so much time on programs that help the user interact with the device when the there is a lack of programs that provide real usefull functionality. I am not critisizing any of you projects, more just pointing at what I see as a lack of things to actually do with a ppc once you have it working.
Hey unable to download this app from your site!
OdeeanRDeathshead: not sure about 2002. It's been tested on Emulator, WM2003SE and WM5. I don't have any 2002 devices to test it on.
Either way, I'd suggest waiting about 45 mins so I can get the buffer overflow bug fixed.
Re the offtopic: I've got a lot of new stuff to write, but for me, I do a lot of playing around mainly as an offshoot of reading. For this app: I wanted to make an app to hide reminders. Thus I wanted an app to remodel the reminders. Thus I wanted to change the button style of the dismiss all button. As a result I thought I'd try the same on the Programs window. It was semi-useful (I never use Programs), so I released VJSmallIcons. I know one guy who used it - it's a small market
Next I'm working on VJToggleToday II. For that, I needed to make a subclassing routine. It was easier to debug that in VJSmallIcons II. So I wrote the subclasser as reusable code.
At the same time, I got interested in owner drawn menus for a TV Listings app I wrote on the PC in VB, which I want to move over to the PPC eventually:
So I experimented with owner drawn menus, and then for no good reason the slider.
So circling back, the subclasser will be re-used in VJToggleToday II, which is a useful app, and the slider will reappear in some form in VJSihaya.
I don't really have time to write "big" apps like a word processor etc. I write what interests or distracts me, or is otherwise being used for research. It's a hobby My stuff is mostly for my own use, or research, but some of it occassionaly might be useful to the wider world, which is why I release it publically. But there are a myriad of bugs and issues in the Phone OS which I like to address for my own use, eg why does it take so many clicks to start a new calendar entry? Why can't we add numbers to existing contacts? If it bothers me enough, I look into my own solutions, more as an academic exercise.
Phew, time for lunch
V
Guys, I've put the new version, v2.01 back on my site. Fixes the crash on long folder names and prevents loading multiple instances.

PS I don't use magic button. Not sure why that would be any special case. Please report bugs as usual, with BIG BOLD LETTERS. Not really

I highly suspect that, as the issue with regards to the long folder names bit taking down Programs is gone, is no longer an issue
Guys,
I've posted a minor update to version v2.02 to fix a small bug where the vertical offset wasn't being taken into account correctly in fullscreen mode.
My audience of 1, ZeBoxx, might have noticed

moGo beta v.0.4
moGo is now independent
The new version of moGo no longer needs the freestyl server. At the moment this most likely will not mean to much to you guys but it means moGo is no longer restricted to the freestyl features. The new server pushes data to moGo to save on power as previously moGo had to ask the server to see if there where changes at regular intervals.

Features:
Finger friendly application launcher
Quick dial of favourite friends
Highly configurable menus and menu items
Missed call/sms/email notifications
Slide to quick launch(needs to be set in sets.txt)
Vibrate on touch(needs to be set in sets.txt, also probably not recommended)
Requirements:
.net compact 2.0
flashlite 2.1
How to use:
download and unzip the .CAB file
Transfer moGoInstall.CAB file to phone then click file to install.
INSTALL ONTO DEVICE!
Look in programs and run mogo.
Config:
There is still no easy config app but you can delve into the settings by editing the sets.txt file. In this file are a lot of setting values where you can change the wallpaper, icons and the menu items. After editing the sets.txt file you will need to re launch moGo.
Change wallpaper
wall=wallpapers/01.jpg -- after the = sign put the location of your own wallpaper
Change icons
menuIcon1=Phone.png -- change Phone.png to the icon you want to use. You can find icons in the icons folder.
Change menu Items
m1_iName1=Contacts -- This is the menu item title
m1_iDesc1=See a list of your conacts -- A small description
m1_iIcon1=Contacts.png -- The icon of the menu item
m1_iType1=launch -- Launch type. Can be: launch,web,call
m1_iAction1=\Windows\addrbook.lnk -- Depending on the launch type. Either location of app, web address or phone number
Multiple menus
It is possible to add your own menu. You can currently have up to 4 menus per button.
m1_Menus=3 -- This needs to be set to the correct number of menus you want.
The following would create a third menu for the phone button. Having m111 means it is the 3rd menu. m1111 would be the forth.
&m111_Style=big&m111_Ani=fromB&
&m111_iName1=Friend 5&m111_iDesc1=Ring 01234567890&m111_iIcon1=Contacts.png&m111_iType1=call&m111_iAction1=01234567890&
&m111_iName2=Friend 6&m111_iDesc2=Ring 01234567890&m111_iIcon2=Contacts.png&m111_iType2=call&m111_iAction2=01234567890&
&m111_iName3=Friend 7&m111_iDesc3=Ring 01234567890&m111_iIcon3=Contacts.png&m111_iType3=call&m111_iAction3=01234567890&
&m111_iName4=Friend 8&m111_iDesc4=Ring 01234567890&m111_iIcon4=Contacts.png&m111_iType4=call&m111_iAction4=01234567890&
&m111_Style=big -- means it is using the 4 big menu items style. Setting it to grid would make it use a 9 item grid menu. If using the grid you will need to add more items to the menu.
&m111_Ani=fromB -- This means the menu animation will slide from the bottom. Other options are "fromU" is slide from the top, "fromL", slide in from the left and "fromR", slide in from the right.
Slide to quick launch
&slideLeft_iType=none&slideLeft_iAction=\Windows\fexplore.exe&slideLeft_iIcon=FileExplorer.png&
&slideLeft_iType=none -- This means the slide to launch is off. Set it to "launch" and add the correct location to launch an application like a locker program for example. You can set an icon for it. You could also set it to ring someone by using the iType=call setting.
Possible problems:
I have built a brand new moGoServer instead of using freestyl and I have found the xmlsocket class in flashlite a little flaky. I do believe that I have found a good work around to make it stable though. See if you have any problems and let me know.
I only see a black window titled moGoServer...
You either do not have flashlite 2.1 installed or flashlite is not associating .swf files. If you have flashlite installed run it and open a swf file manually by clicking open. You can find a swf file in the flashlite folder or moGo folder. Now it wil associate swf files and you never ned to do it again. Restart moGo.
Download moGo v.0.4
Hope you like it
Steve
very nice and clean
it would be nice to make top bar in the same color
Gives me a black window named moGoServer when I run moGo in Programs.

Have you got FlashLite 2.1 installed?
If you have flashlite installed and you still get the black screen open a swf file manually with flashlite by running flashlite, clicking open and finding a .swf file. There's one in the flashlite folder or moGo folder. After thats done close it and run moGo again. Flashlite would have associated swf files with it now so you will never need to do that again.
I'll edit the first post so it has this info in it now.
thks for this very nice log; the "call history" don't work ...
Very nice!! Working on some customization now.
Fantastic first release. Great work! I love how quick and clean it is.
Suggestions for future releases:
Weather
RSS Reader
include # of voicemails along with SMS, email, and missed calls.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks.
kinda cool, but it would be nice if it auto saw all your applications. still testing it some though.
@ monamibouli
Have you got the tCallHistory.exe file. It should be in your windows folder by default really. Sometimes yet rarely I have found windows mobile wouldn't launch my call history at all until I restarted.
@ mfrost67
Nice. I would love to see some screen shots when your finished. Same with anyone else who may be adding their own skin. In the following versions I will increase the skinning ability of moGo too.
@ bigevs
Personaly I dont use weather apps but you're the second person to ask for it so I guess I should do it. RSS reader would be cool and I totally agree with the voice notification which will defiantly be in the next version.
@ ROCOAFZ
Yeah I have already thought about that. I think the way I will do it is still have a favourites menu type thing but then have a show all programs button that will launch a list view.
I've had some time to tinker around with this program and I am still loving it. I've used itask animated, freestyl, and several other set-ups and I like this one the best. It works great for my fat fingers and it seems to be very stable. A few thoughts on how to make it even better...
*Ability to include today plug-ins on a page
*Next appointment on today screen
*Bluetooth icon on home page
*More customization options such as:
*Option to remove curtain under the clock on the homepage
*Ability to change background on every page
*Time and date format
I can't wait for the next release. This program is fantastic.
Thanks bigevs,
A lot of your suggestions are being worked on for the next release. What do you mean by "Ability to include today plug-ins on a page" suggestion.

Sorry. I meant embedding today plug-ins into moGo so that you could cycle between them. I've seen other programs that do this (i.e. Throttlelauncher)
I use Today Agenda, and it would be nice to incorporate that into moGo so I don't have to close moGo to see it on the today screen. I would rather have them integrated together. Or, you could build your own calender/tasks app.
I also seem to be having a little trouble with the SMS notifier updating in a timely manner. Did I mess somethihg up, or is this a known issue?
EDIT: It works fine if I hit the Outlook icon and then SMS inbox, but doesn't work if I tap the Blue SMS notifier.
Once again, great job! Keep up the good work.

I second this request I have been looking for a launcher like moGo that would also incorporate today plugins. I've been trying to get the iFonz developer to do it, but I think he has too manu requests as it is . Having a page for today plugins would be great, then I could have phonealarm and my schedule(schedule = most important to me), on a single page with easy access to moGo. Just a suggestion .
I will have to look into incorporating the today plugins. Any ideas on how you would like this to work? I think I will have to install a plugin to test this out.
@ bigevs
The blue SMS notifier button is linked to the same lnk file as the menu item labelled SMS Inbox. If you are having trouble with one you should be having trouble with the other. So i'm not sure what is happening there. The notification is hard coded to use the lnk file too so you couldn't of messed anything up in the sets.txt file.

First Glance
At first glance it looks amazing!!! I might get flamed for that but it is my opinion.
Currently,
-Sliding is smooth.
-It has a contacts application! Would like to see an option for Favorite Contacts.
-Calendar rework on the ribbon is great. Shows numerous days appointments.
-Dpad controls are present.
-Really intuative.
-Customization of animation is available under Customize Home. It can flip like the cube but in all directions.
-Battery drain is better but still a little more than my liking. This is probably device specific.
-Resource usage is down on my Wizard from before but still higher than most small programs
This is probably because things that PointUI controls in their interface like Weather, Contacts, CommManager
etc are always available immediately, no delay. It takes resources to do that. But I have to say overall 2 of
2 of the most recent cubes I have tried and 1 of the iphone knock offs I have tried have both been Ram hogs
with half the immediate access or smoothness this program gives.
-Messaging and calendar seem to be customizable to a degree still using a reg editor. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355961
-They have their own keyboard going on. Try to edit a contact and see what I mean. It would be nice to see it
skinnable because the color of it is so dark.
-Scrolling is still opposite. Both on press and direct, and flick to scroll but I like it.
------
Things I'd Like to see--These may actually come, see my notes below
-More options on weather. I like HTC Weather plugin much better. It would be nice to see more forcasts then
today and tomorrow. I really think a Hybrid of HTC Today Weather and Weather Watcher would be the best
but they may have an issue covering all of the countries.
-PointUI Calendar-Bet its coming
-PointUI SMS-Bet its coming
-PointUI VOIP
-PointUI Dialpad
-PointUI Media Hub & Player. Bet something like it is coming but man wouldn't it be great if they would team up with
A_C to make a killer integrated app!!!!!
-Rework the lock screen. Again they should talk to A_C here.
-Would like to see a Charging indicator on the home page battery icon. It does show however when pressed.
-Would like to see a Sync icon appear when connected to the PC
I haven't spent much more than 10 minutes with it. I don't know how customizable it is as of yet. It looks like on their site they are developing more programs and customizations to go with it. I also notice that at the top of the download section there was an emphasis on this Home being "Free". That along with the green check marks for some things and red x's for others makes me think that adds or improvements may cost money going forward.
Thats ok. Good programs do cost money and should be paid for.
I will add more as I test further.

Completely approve with you
I know it's a little early but to make this program "perfect" :
- an integrated SMS manager, like they did for Contacts
- surely theme customisation
- a shortcut manager for programs on the HOME screen (eg change the outlook calendar to ThumbCal or the Messaging to a program other than Outlook messaging)
Though, this program is still GREAT, and this update brings decents modifications and fixes

I believe the integrated SMS is coming. Just from looking at their website it will be there but they will probably charge for it and good for them.
Theme customization same thing
The shortcut manager is there in a way. Just press the "Star" Icon. I actually think it helps keep the screen clean of clutter. For you other 2 requests, ThumbCal and Messaging. You can change these using a reg editor. Not as simple as a ui but it can be done. Let me know if you need help with it.

new version looks promising..waiting for Wm2003 Edition
The new version is incredible!!!
a quick question
I am using version 1.02b, is it better to uninstall this version and start fresh? or should I use the update manager instead?
I really liked PointUI when it first came out, but realized pretty soon that I couldn't use it because of the way it lists the tasks. I was really hoping they had fixed that in this version, but see that it still lists tasks alpabetically instead of by due date.
Looks great, and the "Pick a version" screen definately implies "another (non free) version is coming soon"
Aaaa VGA version still have to wait

I would recommend you completely unintall the previous version. By that I mean go through their unistall method and soft reset. Then file explore and delete all info out of \Program Files. Then reg edit and delete all info in \HKCU and \HKLM. Soft reset and then use this one.
Cheers

CURRENT VERSION A4 (Updated 01/08/08)
Alright, so after some tweaking, I decided to release my Devonshire WAD2 QVGA theme
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have Calibri font installed on your Pocket PC! If you do not have it, follow the instructions found here: http://labnol.blogspot.com/2007/03/download-windows-vista-fonts-legally.html

}
The tabs are HOME, WEATHER, AGENDA, APPS & SETTINGS, and CONTACTS
History
A4: Fixed the change page gestures and refined the apps & settings page and the contacts page
A3: Home tab tweaked to add on the most used apps popup menu these items: bluetooth status, volume status & pending notifications. Apps & Settings tab completed: Now has 3 pages for apps, 2 pages for settings. Contacts tab completed: Now has 3 pages for contacts.
A2: Minor tweaks, plus better layout for weather
HOME
Pressing on the Home tab at the very bottom opens up WM5NewMenu, which is similar to the left softkey but customizable. I highly suggest you look for it and install it. Otherwise, just link it back to the left softkey.
The four main buttons above it are the Menu Button, Phone Button, AltTab Button, and S2U2 Button
If you need AltTab, it can be found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3137583&postcount=10
Pressing on the left button (Menu) opens up the menu with your most-used apps. In version A3, I also added notifications for bluetooth, sound, and pending notifications. In the zip file, I also left the graphics for wifi, if you decide to switch any of them.
Pressing the analog clock opens up the indicators strip:
I also added a popup calendar which comes up when you press on the date at the top.
WEATHER
This tab uses WAD2's internal weather program. You can always change it to Weatherpanel, of course.
I changed the layout and the arrow to make it look nicer and provide more information.
I use the Yahoo weather icons from PhatPhinger for my layout, since not all of the Weatherpanel Diamond icons work properly. I attached the zip of the two set of icons for it.
AGENDA
For the sake of compatibility, this also uses WAD2's internal agenda. The links for tasks and appointments go to Agenda One, however. You can change those easily.
APPS & SETTINGS
The apps & settings tab has 3 pages for apps and 2 pages for settings, with 11 slots in each page. The arrows changes the pages.
Pressing on "Apps" will change it to "Settings", and vice versa.
The "App" tab on the very bottom opens up Resco file explorer,
CONTACTS
The contacts tab has 3 pages for contacts similar to the apps and settings tab. The "missed calls" text will also open the missed calls screen.
The "Person" tab on the very botom opens up VITO FunContact, but you can change it to any contact apps that you use.
Any feedbacks?
Hi! great work!
In my opinion only the weathertab is not really fitting to your desing of the other pages... it's a little bit too Manila like...but well, it's only me!
Thx for sharing!
ruebyi
Looks great ! Good job !
A couple notes:
1. For some reason, the ditigal time on my Home Tab was messed up. It showed the time as 4:30 A and then underneath it AM. I fixed it, but don't know if it was a bug or just my phone.
2. In Calendar Tab, the lines 0 Tasks Due Today and 0 Tasks Overdue where spilling over on to the calendar.
3. For some reason, the controls are inverted (i.e. if I am at the Home Tab and press left, instead of going to Contacts Tab, it goes to Weather Tab. Any way to fix this?
4. The Contacts Tab only has one page currently. Update?
Other than that, I love the theme. Possibility of landscape being added?

Oh shoot, that's what I forgot to mention. I use Calibri font for the whole thing.... if you don't have it, you ought to install it. It's a better font than Arial/Tahoma.
Can I upload it here or will that be a violation?

Okay, cool. I will re-install that tomorrow.
I have a suggestion/request if possible:
Is there any way to change the 3rd (AltTab) and 4th (S2u2) pictures into BlueTooth and WiFi.
Those are a bit more practical, especially since I don't know what AltTab does and don't use s2u2.
Also, I know landscape might be hard/time consuming, so is there a way to get simple landscape (e.g. maybe just a Home Tab w/ texts, e-mails, calls and time listed or something?
I use landscape a lot w/ my Tilt since I use it for texting.

Well, it's actually pretty easy for you to customize it and change the function under Author Mode for those two buttons. AltTab is a great little software that allow you to change programs, just like hitting Alt+Tab on your computer keyboard.
S2U2 is one of the most popular screen lock around and it started here on Xda-Developer. Do a search on it =D
I uploaded the AltTab program. Just copy the folder into your Program Files folder in your phone.

This can run on WM5, WM6, and WM6.1.
All you need is the Wisbar Advance Desktop software, which can be purchased here: http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products/pocketpc/WisBarAdvanceDesktop/
Ok I have wisebar desktop.exe which adds this to my Fuze. But I am a little confused by instructions (yeah thick headed I know) I have added theme to my Themes folder under "\Program Files\Lakeridge\WisBar Advance Desktop\Themes" this is on device mem. Do I also then copy this to storage card, or just move the WisBar Advance Desktop\Themes portion of the foler to card?? kind of lost
edit: this is 2.1b version.

1. Copy the folder "Devonshire" into "\Program Files\Lakeridge\WisBar Advance Desktop\Themes"
2. On your storage card's root folder, copy the folder "Wisbar Advance Desktop." This is where the graphics are and the link has to be the same, or else you'd have to manually redefine each gfx file.
