Been looking to buy this.

This model has a USB port for plugging in a USB flash drive for playing back music from the flash drive. My question is:
Will I be able to plug my usb cable from my Jam into it and get it to charge?
If so, I can plug in the stereo jack as well and have it doing everything at once. Nice, if it works. Anyone got one, or know if it will work?
dnt know bout that model, but i got the same type of thing of ebay, works a treat, charges and plays.

Mark, are you saying that you use that FROM your JAM or from a memory stick? Looking for one I can plug directly into my JAM...

Is it possible to connect an external hard drive to the Vogue to use it as an MP3 player hooked up to my stereo to play music? My hard dive has a USB slot. Does anyone know how I can use the MiniUSB cable to USB cable and use the songs on the hard drive?
wow
wow... really? wow... umm...
probably not, USB doesnt actually stand for universal... i'm assuming you'd need some type of drivers or simple deviece support.
MAYBE.... you could use bluetooth to access it? but you'd need to build some hardware, and software.... so... probably no
im not an expert by any means though... somebody check out?
[everybody be easy on him, it's a pretty damn creative idea]
I've heard of prototypes of Bluetooth/WiFi accessible portable HDD's, but I've never seen one in production.
As far as hooking up directly via USB, I don't think it's possible since almost no (if any) PPCs can serve as a USB host.
Eh?
I bought a 4 port USB Hub (powered(?) Never got it yet..)for the Touch from cellphoneshop.net, and I'm guessing that maybe USB Caddy might if it is a Microdrive, but yea, you'll probably need some driivers to make it work...
Interesting Idea, and I had that thought some time ago...I was about to add 5VDC (external) to my USB Caddy, and attach it to my touch... never did finish that project...
I tried a powered hub, and had no success.
I decided that I wanted to use the USB to 2.5mm adapter that came with my device to connect my phone to the auxilarry jack in my car for music. When I hooke the adaper up the sound still comes from the device instead of the USB. Has anyone else had this problem.
Device info:
ROM 20273 from ppckitchen
Radio 2.42.40
Anyone else?
mine works freakin great
I may be dreaming, but I thought there was a problem with some roms and some adapters. Have you tried a different adapter?
No I just tried the one that came with my device. Evanbriggs which one do you use and what ROM are you running?
Edit: I see it in your signature. NM.
Does any sound come through at all? Do you get any sound when you wiggle the 2.5 mm Jack. Mine is kind of funny - I can't stick mine in all the way - if I do I only get mono sound rather then stereo - I have to push my jack in only a little more than half way to get stereo sound. All the way in results in mono - to far past half way results in no audio - Too little results in no audio. I suspected faulty adapter and never did test with another adapter though because I got tired of all of the wires anyway and just went with the Motorole T505 bluetooth and FM Stereo transmitter instead.
I get full stereo. Works like a champ with Resco Raido. i use a 2.5 -3.5 converter so i can use it in my truck.
I have not been able to get mine to function at all. I have tried wiggling, half way out, hlaf way in (lol). I cannot get it to funtion at all. I guess I will have to buy a diffrent one and try it. I was hoping to get some some Kitchen users to confirm which brand works.
I did this post about 6 months or so ago
Hi all, I looked at this and did fix it for the after market adapters a few months back. I have the same problem as you with the stock adapter and a 3.5mm adapter in it just too much of a pain to get it just right to work, the after market USB to 3.5 worked on stock ROM and then had issues with the DCD ROMs but not his fault as it was an issue with the 6.1 audio drivers, fixed by a simple wire snip in the adapter itself. If you do not get the audio to mute on the device when you plug in the USB then the line that grounds in the connector to do the mute and switch operation is not doing it's thing, suspect the adapter or connector in the phone. It is an 11 pin connector and quite complicated, so get an after market 3.5 to USB, find my post 6 months or so ago and isolate it to adapter or titan.
i had the same problem
my inline usb remote stop working for about 2 weeks..in fact the usb port just stopped working completly
my mogul wasnt being detected by the compute either but it would still charge
i thought i was a broken port but wen i boot into the bootloader while it's still connected it magically gets recognised by the computer
driver issues?
anyway activesync and the remote started workin again a few days ago...
but I know it will stop working again
stock usb to 2.5 never worked -rom prob?
My stock adapter has never worked. I bought an aftermarket usb to 3.5 and a set of headphones built with a usb plug and neither of those worked either. Still using DCD 3.12 from May. Is this a known problem with that rom?[/I]
Count me in!
And I thought I alone had these problems.
A week ago, I stopped receiving sound out of the left earpiece.
Two days ago, sound stopped coming out of the USB port altogether: It would continue coming out of the external speaker. Folks on the Metro gave me dirty looks as I tried this and that to restore the USB sound. I've tried two adapter cables (same brand, from eBay).
I have an XV6800 Verizon's OEM ROM (2.09)...but tons of software tweaks.
I may switch to BlueTooth. I have a pair of HP's BlueTooth stereo noise-canceling closed phones, for which I paid $100. But the on-off slide switch keeps turning ON in my commuting bag, and all I get is a depleted battery when I'm ready to listen.
I just tried on no2chemspre3 rom, I get audio out of the factory wired/2.5mm adapter. I have always had sound regardless of rom. I use the factory adapter and a stereo headset from my old ampd E816 (best phone in the world). I have never had a usb-3.5mm adapter or a usb-2.5mm-3.5mm combo to test though.
I am listening to some Dyslexic Speedreaders right now. Try a wired phone headset. Just to see if it would work for you.
Hi folks,
I used my Iolite the last weekend for the first time in a car (don't have one on my own) and noticed that the cigarette-lighter-power-adapter can't be attached to my Iolite. It has not the HTC usb-plug like my phone but a standard mini-USB jack.
Did i run into a single product package error or do more people have that problem?
hi
i did not check my own car charger but one thing is sure is that u can either plug a HTC usb, or a mini usb 'normal', i use a normal usb cable (mini B is plugged on the iolite)
HTC Usb-Phone port can use normal mini-usb jack
Seriously ?
Sounds weird to me but indeed, i did not try that. It just looked wrong. But I will see if it works, later that day at home. Thanks for your replies.
it is ok, i thought it will not fit and brought it back to the buyer, but the funniest thing although it seem different but it fit to the phone
The HTC Jack is normally for the audio connector. I believe that they supply one USB "HTC" cable, and now they have clicked, use for both PC connection and charging
Everyone is right in what they are saying it makes no difference to the performance of the cable. It just means that you can't plug the audio leads into another Mini USB port
Yes it works as told. I just forgot to write down my feedback after reading those posts here.
Is it possible in any way to play music through the usb-cable? I have a carstereo with usb in. When I connect an iPhone it plays all the system audio through the car stereo. When I connect my S4 it browses the card for music files. It seems like I can play music that is stored on the phone, but I never do that. I play music from Spotify, Google Play Music and other streaming services, so I need an aux cable in addition. Not very elegant.
Is there any way to send the system audio through usb? There is a dock-option in settings, but it doesn't seem to do anything...
+1
I completely misunderstod the question duh!
Nope. Not possible To stream Spotify on USB because songs are Not properly stored on device. Best way is bluetooth or AUX.

I have an iBolt xProDock in my car, which both charges the phone and sends audio out through the phone's microusb connector. When docked, all audio is routed through the car stereo (you have to tick the checkbox under settings/my device/accessory etc).
The only issue in your case would be that the other end of the xProDock audio cable it has a standard 3.5mm plug instead of USB. If your car has AUX input, you could plug this straight in and get all audio from the phone through your car stereo.

It does have AUX as well as USB so this would work fine. I don't need the mount though, is it possible to buy just a cable like this anywere? Microusb in one end and usb/aux at the other?

Basically the cable has been made to so that when it is plugged in, the phone recognises it as a desktop dock. Thus it is a bit more than just a cable with microusb at one end and usb/aux at the other. (If you are interested in making your own cable, may want to do a search on the resistances between the usb pins that Samsung uses to identify different products plugging into the microusb).
Anyway, I haven't come across anywhere that sells just the iBolt type of cable, but to be fair I haven't really looked/enquired. You could contact iBolt and ask if they'll sell the cable, say as a replacement etc.
EDIT: never mind
I think ibolt do sell the cable separately, check the ibolt thread in the Note2 accessories forum.

Just came across this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2350690 in the S4 Accessories forum. So yes, the cable is available separately.
Been reading tons of threads about replacing my stock head unit with a Nexus 7.
Couple of things I can't seem to figure out.
1. I have a 2003 Toyota sequoia with JBL. I have a wiring harness adapter that will connect to the sound system (I think there is an existing stock amp). I want to use the micro USB to charge and for audio, and I ordered the splitter cable for that. Can I connect that directly to my existing amp or do I need a USB DAC?
2. My plan is to mount the Nexus in the dash, so that it is not removeable. Should I run a USB connection through a hub for doing updates?
3. Is it better to use a 2012 or 2013 model?
I plan to use it for music, GPS (probably waze), and as BT connection for my phone.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Someone suggested this:
"you normally can't connect a USB DAC to the tablet and charge the tablet at the same time through the same microUSB port"
Does that sound right?

Well, that somebody was wrong. My setup, thanks to Timur, charges my N7 and powers the DAC no problem.
I also would like to know. I read that someone used blisspop along with an additional kernel, but I cannot seem to find any install files for blisspop nexus 7 grouper.
