Caller Group/Text Message Ringtones - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I am new to this forum, and just recieved my Cingular 8125 unlocked. Is there a way to assign different ringtones to different caller groups? Such as, a ringtone for person A and another ringtone for person B?
Also is there a way to modify the ringtone for a text message?
Thanks for your guys' help.

Groups - unfortunately not. Apparently the whole Contacts app has no notion of 'Groups' whatsoever, so you would need a third party application fort hat.

That you can do - just edit the contact and tap the "Ring tone:" field.

Not per-sender, but in general:
Start > Settings > |Personal| > Sounds & Notifications* > |Notifications| > Event: "Messaging: New text message"

I didn't know of the built in RingTone field in Contacts. That's very handy... I do know of an application that allows you to do what you're requiring. I came across it the other day looking for similar functionality. It's called Ringo Mobile. I've not tried it on my Wizard yet.

SMS incoming notifications use the standard Windows Mobile Notifications system, so you can use any WAV file as a Notification.
Prepare your required Incoming SMS sound as a WAV file on your PC, then copy it to the MyDevice/Windows folder of the XDA.
Now open Start/Settings/Sounds & Notifications/Notifications and find the "Event" selection box. Find Message: New Text Message (or New SMS) in the list and select it. You then see the options with tick boxes. The Play Sound option has another dropdown, from where you can select any WAV file available.

Yes, this I know... But I want differentiate ringtones in agreement with phone number.
For example:
incomming SMS from +420603123456 - ringtoneA.wav
incomming SMS from +420598654321 - ringtoneB.wav
incomming SMS from +421800456654 - ringtoneC.wav
Do you get me?
Sorry- I misunderstood the question! I don't think anyone has developed a way to do this yet.

SMS notification sound

Hey, does anyone know how to change the notification sound when you receive a SMS? I have the short standard "tune", but I want it to be like the sound you get when you tap a pencil ONCE on a table.
I can't find anything in the manual. Do I need separate software?
Regards
Asbjørn Søbye
Settings->Sounds and Notifications
go to Notifications tab at bottom of screen
For Event: Choose "Messaging: New text message"
Then choose the settings you want.. sound file/vibrate etc. hit OK and you're set.
And if you'd like other sounds than the ones suplied on device, than drop some .wav files in the \windows directory on the device....you can them pick them in the above described way
SMS sent sound
Has anyone sussed out how to change or mute the sound the trinity makes straight after sending an SMS? The menu has every other option except that one and the actual file cannot be deleted!
Not only wav files can be dumped in the windows folder, mp3's will work aswell.
Works on WM6 anyway

Use TrinityHack to disable it
Hi I have a question to ask. Whenever I received a sms, the notification sound will be played til the end even I had already read and close the sms. Is it always like that on a Kaiser or is there anything I can do to disable it?
I still want to have the sound though.

Ringtone notification (mail or ect..) on Tmo-Wing

I've searched all over this forum (sorry if I missed it or something) but is there a way to get my own custom ringtone for whenever I receive mail or a voicemail. I already have custom ringtones for my phone itself... but I can't seem to be able to get anything no matter how I try to show up in my "notification sounds" section on my wing. Any help would be appreciated.
I happen to hate the selection of tones for my Voicemail and SMS and would like to make my own.
I need answer of this question
Just put the ringtone you want in the Windows directory and it'll show up in the notification sounds list.

You need to place the mp3 in your windows directory, then you will be able to select it for sms tone
how to change tones
All my tones are on the storage card not in any folders,
Follow steps:
. press start and open settings,
. select sounds and notifications then select notifications tab at the bottom,
. in the event tab select the event you want i.e. new text message,
. in the drop down box directly below select the sound you require, (all my tones appear here)
. also select the settings, vibrate, lights etc,
. press ok and all is done.
Follow same steps for changing any ringtone.

[APP] [REQUEST] Callers groups ringtones

Hi people, I've an HTC TP2, and I was trying to set a ringtone for a callers group. I've seen there's not this capability...
Is there a software that can do it?
tnx in advance, Giovanni
+1
I need this also, or at least - on my treo 700wx with WM5 and treo pro WM6.1 I had known and unknown caller rings
I use Pocket Informant and it allows you to assign ringtones to groups by filtering your contacts via category, then selecting all contacts and assigning a ringtone to them all.
It's a handful of clicks but I don't do it every day so find it quite useful
Beh, I could try to develop it... Anyone wants to help me is welcome!
Do you know where contacts are stored?

Search for MortRing. I've been using it since my Prophet days...
In TP2, TF3D needs to be disabled to find the icon in home... I didn't understand also where to add categories...
Is there something more update?
tnx

Yes, initially when u set up mort-ring, you have to disable tf3d. categories are defined in your contacts list. If you set "A" as family, "B" as work etc, it'll appear in mortring.
After you set up mortring, you don't have to touch it anymore. It'll run in the background hidden behind tf3d

Fortunately, Tone Manager is You can use it to assign a ringtone to all entries belong to a Category.
To set a contact to Category on TP2, you need to edit your traditional Windows Mobile Contacts and not your TF3D interface. The most direct way is by:
Start > All Programs > Contacts
Note you can assign a contact to more than one category.
If you have opened your entry using address book from People tab, you can access Contacts by clicking "More" at the bottom of the entry.
An alternative is to your Contacts in Microsoft Outlook on your computer, then sync it back to the device.
hi
Freeware vipringtone does this job excellently, category, individual contact ringtones etc,. Just a search away from you. if you couldn't locate it, send me msg and I'll post the cab. Been using it since WM5 to WM6.5 works fine.
