Nice Free WM5 Theme Generater - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Not sure if anyone saw this one but came across it today. Handles WM5 colors

thanks. I've been looking for a good free theme maker. I'll give this a shot.

Nice.
Thanks,

very nice.. includes all the basehue stuff as well - previews don't seem to preview all options yet, unfortunately, and the preview seems to remain WM2003(se) style. Definitely much better than Microsoft's

thanks

so far... so good... pretty straight forward and seems bug free up to now at least.
i don't read french and can't seem to figure out how to create/save the today image so it works as a full background in landscape. has anyone gotten that done?
thanks in advance!

Theres also an english Version you can download - this should help...

yes. it is the english version i am running. the "help" is french (oxymoron). i am often obtuse and don't seem to be able to configure the image size so it fills the entire today's landscape background.
solution found:
i'm saving images as gif with names of "tdywater" and "stwater" in same folder as created tsk and all is well
this may not be the intended process but it's working.
figured it out for real now. i'm so dense just needed to you the image sizing tool

Who's got the original WM Today Screen -- GREEN version?

Hi
My Vario has had the original Windows Mobile Today screen installed on it, but only the blue one which is a bit boring.
I can see the green version being displayed in Microsoft adverts for Windows Mobile devices, but I can't find it anywhere.
If anybody's got it, could you send it or upload it to the server?
Thanks!
You mean the green one on this page...?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/themes.mspx
well, thats not really the one they are putting on adverts....
someone has to make it i think?
I can make it. Care to show me where is this advertisement?
I too am looking for this -- looks like we both have good taste!
You can see an example at www.windowsmobile.co.uk, but no offence it would be best to have the original version. Having a copy just doesn't feel authentic enough. Someone with these newer devices must have the appropriate .tsk file in their /windows folder?
PS: Here's an even closer look!:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...px?module=deviceDisplay;PPCPhone;americas;241
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...y.aspx?module=deviceDisplay;PPCPhone;emea;218
Hmm. . the greenish colour is difficult to reproduce and the details of the sample is waaaay too small to make any sense out of them. Further, it is weird that all of the model shown on the screen are different from each other?
My own mock of it
....just make ur own? simply run photoshop's eyedrop over the green to get the correct shade...
then load a theme maker and change the hue and stuff
hanmin, your mock of it looks very nice! any possibility you could share it with us?

I think you did a good job - well done
This is great
But... oh no It doesn't work in landscape mode. The edge is cut off and there is only darkness  Any way to fix that do we think?
I hear there is a TSK almost identical to the WM5 marketing one, included in SPB Pocket Plus. Anyone happen to have a copy lying around who is able to upload the TSK file?

Now that is interesting. It seems to be the exact wallpaper background that MS have used, only the one you attached has a blue version of the wallpaper
Microsoft's:
Notice when you install the SPB one how it has those little lines in the background. Now if only someone had the actual green version
I found this one on a website and edited somethings myself. It's nice and green but it does have a slightly different background. Rename the .doc to .tsk!
I created this green one from the original blue one. (3 included slightly diff shades - I think wm_green3 is the best)
Also enclosed is a hacked spb one that works now.
p.s. I don't just do black themes  wm_black available if anybody wants.
pps if anybody wants the wm green one a bit darker or lighter just say and it will be done.
Lovely stuff!
As we are into green just found this theme and it rocks!! (qvga and vga landscape included)

Hey there, you know that mightn't be a bad idea, if you have the time and willpower?
Here's the current difference:
It seems the original one is a little darker/duller, and less bright. Reduce brightness and contrast perhaps?
Give it a shot - no problem

Program with transitions when a button is pressed.
I'm using wa2, flash and mortscript.
-I use wa2 to control the some system aspects
-I use flash instead of Wad.
- I use Mortscript to execute all commands, so that the commands can be changed after building the flash.exe. Images are not changable outside flash yet, but I'm going to try that later, so every image can be changed.

I'm gonna update this as often as possible.

Very, very nice.
Have you thought of doing that in C ? It would be much faster i guess.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Wow.
I was told that that couldn't be done on a ppc because of graphics limitations...
Where can I get it?

If i knew programming it would be nice I started making this a week ago, and it was really really difficult for me, because I didn't even know flash, and actionscripts for ppc was difficult to find and get to work properly.. like the sip command etc...
Thanks for the comments!
Well, iContact was my first app written in c for win32. And it was and still is difficult.
I started with similar to yours, in C. If you decide to try to redo your app in C i'll be glad to help.
Good luck.

This application is just a "semi" application. It will probably not work good on all devices, since I've implemented some commands that probably are specific for wm2003.
It's made in Flash, and Flash communicates with mortscript for all external commands (to open apps, import ram, change backlight, etc), except some "sip" commands and a few more.
The links to the apps can be changed through the mortscripts, but not the icons for now. I will try and research for a way to do it, but "flashplayer 7 for ppc" can only read normal jpg, so i'm not sure if it is possible. In worst case after I'm finished, I'll at least share the .fla file for tweaking, with some basic documentation.
You will also need a flash compiler that can build .exe files of flash files for ppc.
Thanks for your reply. I hope that you are going to make a full working application and share it with us.
Thank you.

sorry... I'm pretty busy getting the mp3 player to work properly... it seems that the flashprojector has problems reading xml files outside the compiled .exe file.
I'm trying to get a workaround, but with my feeble actionscript skills it takes a long time...
(the thing is that the xml files is needed to add songs, and load mp3s... not the perfect way to do it but the only way to do it with flash...) I'll post more on this subject tomorrow.
Some bad news: since you have VGA resolution, and this uses qVGA resolution, it probably won't look good on your device. I will hopefully have an .exe compiled until friday.
Sorry to bring an old thread back. Can you narrow the/a application to just the animation of the opening and closing of applications for the ones that dont want the complete app but want the window animations?

[ConnState V1.3] Connection State plugin - Localization added

Maybe someone could find this interesting...
While I find cumbersome to find out the (for instance) IP addresses assigned to the device, or frustrating when Internet Explorer cannot find any web page because the current connection is the WRONG one...
... I ended up writing my own Today Screen plugin to display more information on the active connection. Yeah, I know this is not quite a "common" requirement, but maybe someone finds it useful... or even can suggest further improvements - that will be of course welcome!
I've attached some screenshots of it running on both a WM5 emulator and my real Hermes running WM6 - thanks Schap!
Please, feel free to use it, redistribute it, add to a ROM kitchen, or cook it into any ROM...
Updated August, 13th...
More changes with the 1.3 version. Now localization has been added. I'm currently shipping this version with English (native) and Spanish languages. I've also added a ZIP file with a little document where you can find instructions to localize/translate ConnState to your preferred language and a template localization file for English.
Hasta la vista!!!!
Version History:
V1.0
First version released.
V1.1
VGA screen support added (enough to make it usable)
V1.2
Completed VGA screen support.
Added expand/collapse button - per popular request
V1.3
Localization support. ConnState currently ships in English and Spanish languages.
Thanks!!! Good work.
Thanks, PPCNUT... now let's see if someone likes it!!

Of course... in fact, why didn't I think about that in first place? :$ I was thinking about leaving the plugin "collapsed" (the size of "no connection") and add a right-hand minibutton that expands the thing up to its size... And even allow tapping you on it to open another window with full details on the connection...
This weekend will be fun
Thanks alot for your comments!!!
This is actually very nice work and I would use it, once you were able to condense it into a smaller amount of space.

Nice one, @dpduser - that's staying on my Today screen!!!
As it's a today screen plugin, can you make the Options button in the today screen configuration give us access to the things we wanna see displayed in the plugin?? I'm thinking of having the MAC addresss displayed, but wouldn't necessarily want it all the time - same goes for the connection being used; if I'm at home, then I'm usually using Wi-Fi.....you catch my drift??

Feedback & ongoing work
First, thanks to all of you that took the time to play with ConnState!!
For the "improvements" part, and as I have read from your feedback:
- Regarding an "Options" dialog to configure somewhat more "advanced" features, yes, I'm working on it - It just takes a little longer than expected because now I'm trying to do a more compatible component, that must support QVGA & VGA screens and has to do so both in portrait and landscape orientations (if you do it, do it right, isn't it? ) BTW... anyone out there with a SQUARE screen device?
- MAC addresses? Yeah, I guess it's feasible... I'll try to add both MAC & PAN addresses. Not obvious, somewhat tricky but absolutely feasible!
- Show proxy information: regarding this, I was amazed at how tricky it is to discover the current proxy configuration for a connection! In first place I have to deal with WM's Provisioning and do that in XML (so an XML parser has to be placed in!)
- Localization!! Of course YES!!! Now I have two options to do it: one could be to maintain a single .DLL with embedded resources in a variety of languages or I could build a number of different DLLs each one built for a language... Hmmmm... Currently deciding on it!! I can do both Spanish and English versions... What languages are required? Would you, nice people, help me localizing this?

In addition, it'd be cool if I could translate the localization file by Notepad without creating a DLL file (just like Spb does).

Installed, working great on Hermes, except the today plug-in isn't activated by default after install. Maybe this is because of the variety of devices enabling the today-plugins, i don't know.

[APP]+[SKN][28/10 UPDATED] Yet another Calculator Skin (do-it-yourself MultiLanguage)

I know, there quite some Manila Calculator skins around. Personally I think L.Sylvain did a pretty good job, but there is always room for enhancement... !
I slightly changed the button-grid to resemble the Manila-Dialer more, but most noticeable is the rearrangement of the calculator layout. I canged the 5x5 design to a 4x6 design, so it would be more similar to the well-known "hardware" calculators.
I did resample the skin to QVGA and include it into the cab-file. So, it should install on all devices (couldnt test QVGA though, I hope it looks a bit decent )
About the files:
Use the cab file to install Spb Calculator together with these skins:
Copy the cab file to your device, navigate to it using File Explorer and double-click it.
If, for any reason, you don't want to install the cab file but just want to exchange the skin manually, you will find the artwork in the zip file.
Localization:
To localize this tiny app to your own language, edit the "calculator_eng.txt" file. Preserve the english text, but change the text after the "|" accordingly. I uploaded an example in Dutch.
DON'T CHANGE THE FILENAME! Copy the edited file to the Windows on your device.
UPDATES:
28/10:
As reported, the QVGA downsampling didn't work out as expected. I did some clean-up but I don't have the means to test it. So, the cab-file is updated, please report back the results!
24/8:
Landscape skin completed, I updated cab and zip file.
For all purist among you (like myself ):
Although I tried to make this skin as similar to the Manila Dialer as possible, I noticed that at the Landscape-skin of the Dialer the backspace-button is way out of place.
Not only being a purist but an aesthetician as well, I took the liberty to adjust this defect.
looks good! thank you!

Yes it is, in fact it is the complete install-cab with adapted skin files. So there is no need to install SpbCalc seperately. It doesn't hurt if it is already installed, but you will loose the former skin.

Hehe, yeah, dutch it is.
The problem is that the normal download uses a compression method to decrease the file size up to 90% (see cab size difference), which makes manila faster. Thing is, manila needs to be patched for it to work. Look up Chainfire's Compression for more information.

It should work with a branded ROM as well, unless completely new manila files have been added (which I think is unlikely).
I've just tried it on my Vodafone branded Pro2, and all works well except when you stop on any tab, the background goes black so you can't see anything much.
The transitions between tabs is so great - I hope this can be made to work fully. Great work, thanks!

I have got a HTC one... so can't tell how it works on the branded one. I had to use the compability cab anyway.
on my Voda branded one the compatibility cab works fine apart from some of the fonts stay black. The calendar tab is particularly bad and a white font & lines would have been better.
Great theme tho!

Yeah, that's what I've been experiencing. It seems it's the same issue Stunno is having, as with a light background (which I believe it's supposed to be) the black fonts would be suitable.
Will be fantastic to have this to replace the Vodafone theme once it's fully functional, thanks again!
I should clarify my post as it was done in a rush this morning.
The theme is FULLY functional. The background scrolls beautifully from tab to tab (OK there is a slight glitch in that there is a thin black line down the settings tab about 3/4 of the way across and a light one half way across the calendar tab)
My problem is the font colour in some of the tabs. Which is more of a layout problem than a theme problem. In particular
The People tab perfect apart from the phone number is in black over a dark part og the background - but no biggy because who needs this anyway I've only included for completeness
The Calendar tab has black text and lines on a predominantly dark background
The Music tab ditto
the Internet tab ditto
Having said all of that, and I hope it didn't come across as whinging because it wasn't meant to, I am keeping it on as it is a HUGE improvement on the VF one!

Yes, CFC compressed files work better. The compatibility pack is not compressed, like TF3D is normally. So, for a performance increase, I recommend patching your manila, using CFC GUI 0.55.

Alright. I'm willing to improve based on feedback. I do however, need screenshots for clarification. The reason is that - although you did a very good attempt at clarifying - I can still interpret your problems in differing ways.
So, please post some screenshots and I'll look into it.
The vertical lines in the background are a TF3D problem, we can't get rid of it - yet. (TF3D doesn't like sticking pictures to eachother(
I've attached screenshots of what I'm experiencing.
Screenshot 1: What I have when TF3D first loads - perfect!
Screenshot 2: Once I touch the screen however, the background goes black
Screenshot 3: When choosing between tabs, the background goes to the photo again
Screenshot 4: Then when I stop on a tab, the background goes black again - very nice!
Thanks so much - this will be so good compared to the default Vodafone theme!

Yes, CFC compressed files work better. The compatibility pack is not compressed, like TF3D is normally. So, for a performance increase, I recommend patching your manila, using CFC GUI 0.55.

Being both a WM and HTC n00b since a few weeks ago, could you fill me in a little bit how to go about this? The performance is definitely not bad, pretty smooth actually but it can always be better

Alright, that is indeed what I understood to be the problem. Thanks for the example, it'll be forwarded to be fixed. I'll probably release a seperate Touch Pro 2 version to be sure.

I understand that it might seem intimidating if you're new to WM and HTC. I can also understand that you'd love to have all the best fixes and stuff. Do take into account though, that it takes some time and a lot of reading to really get a grasp of how everything works and is integrated.
Patching manila, however, is - luckily for you - made simple by Chainfire. Read his thread here.
Good luck!

Woohoo!! I did the did the CFC patch and reinstalled your CFC theme, you guys are awesome!
So the CFC patch is confirmed to work on the TP2 too
It definitely is overwhelming but with these beautiful apps made by you guys and good descriptions even a n00b like me can pull it off!! Cheers for that :beerchug:
Just one tiny remark; I noticed the stock icon is not embossed like the rest of the icons when selecting stock from TF3D, see pic. No biggy but I thought I'd mention it...
