Using phoneAlarm without the stylus? Is there a better app? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I installed and love phoneAlarm. The one problem I have with it is that you can't navigate to it's messages/missed calls/voicemail/emails icons with the d-pad. I like having it show me what I've missed, but I don't want to have to get out the stylus everytime i want to view one of the missed items. Is there a workaround for this or possibly a different app that will do what I want?
Also, is there a way to put phoneAlarm above the date on the today screen? If not, is there a different (1-line if possible) plugin that will show the date/time?
Thanks!

You could always use the left soft button. When you get a message or missed call it turns into the notification button. You could also send your request in to the guy who write phone alarm. the link to the beta forum is

How to disable SMS screen-on notification

Hi,
been looking for a tweak about this, but haven't been able to find any.
Does anyone know how to disable the screen on the TyTN to turn on when receiving SMSs? It's very annoying, as the only notification I need is the beep sound and having the screen come to life everytime I receive an SMS is a hazzle when it comes to carrying it in my pocket. Touch-screens are a wonderful thing, but not turned on while in ones pocket. ;-) All sorts of nasty things could happen then.
Cheers,
Steffen
don't know how to totally disable this but you could use a program called mortsaver that lets you lock the screen a bit more like a conventional phone.
for example, I have to press the power button then the internet explorer button within 2s to unlock the screen.
when you receive a message the screen stays locked, although not when I get a call (might be able to change that tho).
I use spb pocketplus to put a 'lock' shortcut on my today screen that activates mortsaver.
I can't remember the website but google it and i'm sure you'll find it.
cheers
Thanks!!!
I've installed MortSaver 2.0 and it really does the trick!! Thanks for the advice.

make wing more friendly for phone/text device?

I've hated my wing pretty much since I got it. I tried some 3rd party stuff for awhile and then I basically just quit using it. I've had some changes in my life where I'm using my cell phone more often and would like some advice on what to put on my wing to make it easier to just use as a phone and text message device.
any recommendations? I'm up for trying anything commercial software or home brew stuff.
thanks!

softkey changer and make one go to the texts?
it's already very simple to use the phone and texts
I am curious as what you mean to make it easier to use for phone and text.
Right now pressing the green call button will load up the phone interface left soft key hide keypad and select your contact or recent caller. Thats pretty easy in my opinion. Now for sms the program is slow loading. I speed this up a little by using QuickMenu and assigning the right soft key to a shortcut that opens sms/mms account directly. With QuickMenu I use the exclude option for tmail.exe set to "both not".

Few questions, SMS, Default screens, etc

I have tried searching, and haven't had a whole lot of luck.
Had my TP2 for about a week, and have updated it to WM 6.5.
1. How do I disable the SMS Text sent notification? I have installed Advanced Config, and have also tried changing it in the registry, with no luck...any ideas?
2. When on the home screen, the bottom bar with Home/Messages/Mail/Music etc, how do I get the Messages or Mail to go straight to the inbox, and not show just the one text or one email on the initial page? Am I clear on explaining that?
3. When I click on Phone on the bottom left, is there a way to make searching for contacts easier/faster? When I pull up the Contacts, is there a way to already have the search bar there, instead of having to hit the Magnifying Glass every time?
4. How do I get my phone to use the on screen keyboard when I flip it landscape? When I turn it, the screen stays up and down, unless I open the keyboard, which is the only time I have gotten the phones screen to rotate with the phones position.
If anyone has any answers I would appreciate it!
Thanks
Matt
wrong forum dude. touch 2 is not touch pro 2.
maybe that's why i couldnt find anything!
thanks for the heads up!

Help me reduce the button presses to check messages

currently when i get an sms i have to:
-press a hard key
-unlock the slider
-press the message tab
-then when i get to messages it isn't set to the latest message it is set to the last message checkeds
-then i have to scroll to message 1
coming from android that is a lot of button presses. in android you could actually read the first couple of lines from the lockscreen. is there a way for me to reduce the button presses?
Install S2U2.
S2U2 will be able to display the message on the screen (while the phone remains locked).
Do you have win6.5 lock enabled? when you get a message it should have a message slider and if you slide that it will automatically take you to the sms tab (or email tab if you got an email or missed call tab if you got a missed call or.....)
Set titanium as home screen then after unlock hit text.
Or you could:
-press a hard key
-tap the slider
-unlock the new slider which pops up
should take you directly to your new message.

this takes me to the messages tab, but it does not take me to the latest message. it takes me to the last message i checked when i was in that tab so i still have to scroll once.
i will check out that s2u2 and report back.
ok so i downloaded s2u2 and love the functionality of it. i hate the fact that it looks like iphone though i wish it were more original looking. or even the same but a different colorway, especially in the message bubble that pops up. but hey, it was free and works great so thanks for suggesting it.
much better than the stock lock screen for sure!

There is a disturbing amount of themes for S2U2, if you don't like the stock one (which does mimic the iphone alot) you should look at the other ones.

How do I enable this, I've seen the message slider in other peoples screenies, but I'm not sure how to enable it.
Many thanks

You just click the slider instead of sliding it. It obviously only works if there's something to show you.

So I understand, after a missed call, email sms etc. do you see a number on the unlock slider? If so, and you tap the unlock slider, you should see one or more notification sliders pop down. Are those not appearing? If that's the case, have you ever installed anything intended to modify the lockscreen in any way?

Yes I have (See screenie), but even before this change I've not had the other icons come up. I've always wondered how I could get them to show up since having the phone.
I'm on Orange network (UK) and on official 1.66 rom.
Thanks for your help.
LOL, it has a little number "1" on your slider, lol
just tap that a$$

Still nothing, that screenie was taken after tapping
It's not important, it would just be nice.
well it is displaying right. normally you would just touch the slider instead of sliding it and a secondary slider would appear, but if that is not happening for you i don't know where in the settings to enable/disable it.

I can't imagine why it's not working. I've attached a cab with the original lockscreen files. You may try installing it and see if that works. Outside of that, you may have a reg setting inadvertantly changed somewhere.
@methodz: Are you still using S2U2? If not, or you go back to the oem LS, I think we can take your original question one step further (literally). Not sure if you've seen this, but you can change the commmand of the notification slider to go directly to your email inbox instead of the manila tab, or have the sllider actually call your voicemail directly instead of taking you to the dialpad. I dunno about sms as I haven't tried it, but either way it may worth looking at the bottom of this post here by Da_G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4268138&postcount=3. It will require a tad of registry editing, but for me it's worth it. Less steps to get to things.

[Q] Screen Sensitivity & snooze control

1. I find the screen to be far too sensitive. A brush of the thumb is enough to place an unintentional telephone call. I installed Auto Config sensitivity to the lowest level and finger pressure to the highest, but it really hasn't helped. Perhaps the solution is to deactivate the soft "phone" button directly under the Home icon. Just to gripe about it, it seems a dumb place to put that button. Is there some way of turning that button off? Or in fact, increasing the pressure require to activate the screen?
2. The reminders are under the control of the pre-loaded and pathetic calendar program. As a result "snoozes" are limited to 5 minutes. I bought and installed Thumbcal -- a worthy program -- but there doesn't seem to be anyway of making it the default calender. Maybe I overlooked a switch. Can anyone help?
Thanks
1. use AE Button plus to unbind the send end keys. This will solve your problem.
I also use vangrieg in call lock so that you only slide to answer. Follow the steps in the following link regarding important note to HD2 users. HD Mini users will need to follow that too.

Thank you. The case of the accidental phone call has been solved. It took me a while to figure out but it was $8 well spent.

Once again my thanks. You are obviously well versed in customizing these phones.

learnt a lot from the community @ XDA. Just sharing my 2 cents...
In any case, thank you.

You are correct. HTC calendar is really pathetic. It's included in the phone only for eye-candy purposes. No real value or function to it.
ThumbCal is a really great choice of a replacement calendar app. But it won't work from the calendar link of the homescreen. The homescreen calendar link is a real weirdo. It links to 3rd-party calendar app only when you have no appointment for today. So forget about that. (Actually, almost all of the whole homescreen graphics and links are useless. An unnecessary waste of screen real estate).
What you can do is to position ThumbCal icon somewhere up in the first few icons of WinMo menu. That way, you can access ThumbCal from anywhere. Just press the "Windows" button (center button on the lower edge of the phone), and you get to ThumbCal app anytime anywhere.
Another way is to use BSB Tweaks to reconfigure the left softkey of Sense UI, and change it from the default "Phone" to "ThumbCal".
Now, for the "snooze" problem. Again, use BSB Tweaks to modify windows notifications. Enable dismiss X time in notifications. This will revert the notifications back to the normal WinMo style. With a menu choice of snooze duration to choose from.
Thanks for the suggestion. I added thumbcal on the quicklinks, but your suggestion is just as efficient. The BsB tweal was already suggested. I implemented and works just fine.
Both are good ideas.
