reduce the systray - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I've read weeks ago how to reduce the systray (bottom of the page) but I can't see it again. I would like to take it off to save some palce in the today screen.
Can someone tell me how or where I can find such info ?
Thanks

not sure if this is what you are looking for, but removing the <Init_Tray.lnk> from \Windows\StartUp does it for me.

Many thanks, it's exactly what I need.

I need more space for the Hammerskin in my screen

Hello all,
I have recently installed the TodayPlus program and the HammerSkin 1.05.6 on my Qtek 9100 and its awsome.
However I do have a problem with fitting the main page to my screen resulting in a ugly scroll bar to appear.
So I need to get some more space in the screen and I can live without the lower bar which as standard includes an icon for the Comm Manager.
Is it possible to remove this part and if so.....how ?

There's a russian program that will force remove the tray.
My VJToggleToday will remove the soft keys and start bar as required, and will eventually remove the tray when I can get some time to finish writing it.
Have a read through the end of the VJToggleToday thread to find the russian program.
Please post screenshots. Not enough people use TodayPlus, it's a shame it's dead. However, I found it to be heavy on resources, but still amazing.

Hello vijay555, from your post I guess, you are not using TodayPlus. What are you using for your today screen, saw some of your screen shot it look great...

How to remove the Bottom tray?

How can I remove the bottom try on my today screen? The one that has the battery / comm manager icon?
Thanks in advance
go to \Windows\Start up\ and remove/move the "initTray"
Thanks... I should have searched first... I found it in 2 seconds.
WOW that worked great... Thanks you for that... it was something I have been looking for.
now for another question... how to I remove the top bar all together, or the bottom bar for that matter?
I was hoping I could get just a bottom bar that worked a little like the taskbar in windows. One not 2 bars to take up the main screen. I would be fine with removing either but I just feel that having both is TOOOO Much and just not required.
Thanks,
SuPerSoBBie
OK well first of all thank you for the info again... I have removed it and it was gone when I restarted my 8125.... but every time I plug it into the USB it pops back up and covers some of my screen.
??? any clue how to stop that ... along with my previous question?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
probably not. or use WAD to.
probably not... is that for both the remove bottom bar and the USB questions? I suppose I shouldn't have asked soo many questions at once. It just confuses me
Well either way Thanks nothin (did you notice I didnt use FOR in that statment)... and I have seen WAD but didnt really want to run such a bulky app. I was hope I could do it with reg or file manipulation. Oh Well...
Thanks again for your help.

hmmm, on second thought it may be possible, but cant check right now..
install vjtoggletoday, then go to its registry and try set "trayvisible" to 0...
(sorry for my funny english..)...
nothin... Thanks again for your responce. I do appreciate it. I just got VJToggle to give it a try. I find that it does remove the bottom bar and the top fine... but I am still having the problem when I sync my PDA the bar returns across the bottom of the screen. Sorry dont have a screen shot but here is what I see:
-----------------------------
STARTButton###########
TODAY PLUGINS
############sync icon##
TODAY PLUGIN (2 lines)
-----------------------------
When I softreset it is all gone (the way I want it) but when I plug into USB the sync icon taskbar returns.
Can this be completely removed where it does not come back. I am going to look into tweaking the sync program... maybe I can turn off the show icon in taskbar or something.
Thanks again for you help..

Are you using a program that allows you to control your wizard from your pc? I can't remember the name of it right now, but when I used it it would cause the system tray to come back.

Remove icons on Today Screen

I am looking to see if anyone knows how to remove the icons on the Today Screen... I'm talking about the small icons in the bottom right corner just above the "contacts" bar... It's not an option in the today screen settings and I freakin hate them.
Thanks.
Remove the Tray Icon from Today Screen:
Registry: \HKLM\init\
Key: Launch92
Action: DELETE
Note: If you want to keep some but not all of the icons:
Registry: HKLM\Software\HTC\TrayApplet
There you'll find listings for each icon (the folders are for the WinWap, MyFaves, and CommManager tray icons). Remove the ones you don't want and soft reset. If you remove the music player settings, you will then have to uncheck the plug-in from Today items.
this was one of the first things i found out about right here on xda. you can almost always find what your looking for with the search feature. Remember if you dont find it at first try to change your wording.
I tried MANY different wordings. This is pretty much the only forum where I truly have a tough time finding what I need..
I take it I need registry software to make this one work
God I'm so glad to see those worthless icons gone! Bloody brilliant, removing the contacts bar and those stupid tray icons... my home plug and today items line up PERFECTLY without needing a scrollbar!!! SWEET!
Thanks for your help.
Any other registry tweaks that could be helpful you think??

Changing quick links

Hi Everyone
Just got my HD2 and was experimenting with the home screen - and added a quick link to test it (Excel).
Now I'm having trouble removing it.. Any ideas as to how this is done?
As wonderful as Excel is i don't want it, let alone two links to it (an attempt to remove the first icon) on the front of my gorgeous new phone..
Thanks

You can remove quicklinks from the menu (bottom right softkey)
Haha.. Thanks!
I searched through the forum and did it via the registry in the end, which didn't really work anyway because you can only change the link not delete it entirely.
So many things to learn over 6.1........

Problem with some icons

Help me please, I have huge problem with some icons in my start menu!
Problem is that since last night I dont have those 5, if I can say normal-official icons named People, Calendar, Music, Footprint and Peep in my start menu, but I have some strange icons (white square with blue ribbon on the top of square) with new names HTC People, HTC Calendar, HTC Music, HTC Footprints and HTC Twitter in start menu.
Every time when I removed them (delete) from windows/start menu after every new restart of phone they are still there.
Does anybody knows how to remove that white square icons and to restore "normal" icons in my start menu folder in order to see them when I press start, or at least how to change look of that white icons, just to look like normal icons?
you have tried to move/delete read only files.look in the hints and tips thread for more information.
Where I can find that read only files.look, and will it solve my problem?

There's a lot of other information in there, but the answer to your question is in the hints and tips thread, linked in my sig.
I'd highly recommend reading through the tips in there. Like I said, there are a lot, but they're very useful and often the most commonly asked questions in new threads.
Goo lukc mate
Thanks I'll try to find answer there.
I hope I'll find right answer and solve problem without hard reset.

Definitely no need to hard reset for that!
As johnc.. has said, take a look at the tweaks and tips threads.
I did as johnc... said and I found how to move duplicated blanc icons and not to see them again but I couldn't find how to restore original icons of calendar, twetter, people, footprints and music to start menu.
