Magician now missing 7mb of 128mb ram and backup battery - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

Hello all. Just wondering if i could get some help on how to resolve this. I just bought this Imate jam modified with the 128mb memory module. It was at 1.11 rom. I wanted to use the new bluetooth stack so i upgraded to the 1.12 rom shipped. When i look at settings, 7mb of memory is now missing and also backup battery states None. What happened here? What can i do? Thanks

Did you happen to make a SD backup of your rom prior to upgrading it? It almost sounds like there's an address wrong in the new rom. 7MB is about the size of the original internal Storage folder.
You can try the upgrade again, but if this helps?
Regards, M

Yes I did, and went back to it. but the problem still persists. i also tried upgrading and same thing. i hope its not a hardware problem.Any registry changes i can look up?

AFAIK not, BIG Storage is about changing adresses in the rom-image & sounds very simular. Of course it might be a hardware problem :-(. Do you have any kind of warranty?
Regards, M

hmm.i never tried the big storage rom...hopefully that can address it. no warranty, i had this jam upgradedfrom 64 to 128mb. for some reason now, the backup battery is now intermittently coming on and off. looks like a hardware fault.

Storage folder gone when flash big storage to normal rom

Hi,
My magician is O2 Mini -
I was running QTEK 1.11 with MKS big storage patch.. then today I flashed my magician with O2 1.11 ROM (no big storage) ..everything seems to work fine but I noticed that I no longer have storage folder in my magician..
Can anybody confirm this problem? and does anybody have any solution for this?
Thanks
NR
Is your Storage folder gone but the EXT_ROM (after running LoadVDisk) still visible? Then it could be that the Storage is set too big when downgrading and therefore ignored. The Ext_ROM takes space needed from the available flash and the rest can be used for the storage. Since you set your storage to 27 MB before, it could be that this size information is still saved (maybe on the flash itself) but not accepted, since it isn't completely available anymore. Maybe you'd need some formatting tool which is capable of formatting the internal storage and displays it, even though the Explorer doesn't. Maybe you give that a try.
Any other idea ? Does somebody did the same ?
reverse engineering? may be try changing the hex back to the original value.

If MkBigStorage have done that it would have been the perfect tool...

I've upgraded to one of Pug's ROMs, but...

Hello
I downloaded and installed Alpine_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped_Camera_Fixed.rar but when I view my version, there is no entry for extended rom, it's just blank (this is in start_settings_system tab_device information). I'm a bit confused (easily done, admittedly!) Also, since doing this upgrade, it has started eating the battery - by that I mean, leave it off overnight, and it drops from 100% to around 50% - this took a couple of days at least before I upgraded. I've read that the power consumption probel is symptomatic of ext rom version 1.11.169 and that the fix is to roll back to 1.11.162, so this adds to my confusion.
Answers on a postcard to
The simple answer is to download again, and to install again. The extended ROM sounds like it became corrupt.
OK, thanks Pug - I'll try this evening
Hi need help...
I have an Asian O2 ROM stock Alpine (XDA IIi version) and have upgraded using Pug's ROM without the O2 stuff and camera fix.
Everything went well until I placed my Sandisk 2GB SD into it and had the phone format it.
I checked the memory capacity of the Storage Card and I was surprised to find I only have a total of 970MB of storage space!!!
Is the ROM Pug used have certain memory capacity limitations?
I just purchased the SD and now I think I'm at a loss for having reduced my SD's capacity by half!
Is there a solution for it?
I'm thinking of returning the Asian ROM and hope that it will revert the SD to it's original capacity. I hope the memory capacity reduction isn't permanent!!!!
P.S.
Is there an ASIAN ROM with the camera fix and stripped O2 stuff?
Hi again...
Just used the Asian ROM found here but to no avail...
Is the SD card locked? Or is the SD card faulty?
I doubt it is faulty because before trying the upgrade, I saw it showed 1.93GB of capacity storage.
Has anybody encountered this?
Please need help!!!

sD CARD PROBLEM

my SD card keeps disapearing from my windows explorer and i have to take it out and reinsert it to make it work again. Anyone with wm6 on BA having the same problem?
I think this is hardware problem: dirty connection on card or in the device. I had similar problem with one card.
Can be also card problem.
Could it also be related to the rom? I have this same problem after my last flashing and I think I hve read about others experiencing this after reflashing to a particular rom.
I had this problem with WM2003 but after upgrading to WM6, I never faced this issue.
sad to say i have the same issue till finally it cannot show any cards at all.
i sent the device to several people even outside country and they confirmed it's an IC failure and has to be replaced.
i still did not do it...
I am currently using pdaviet rom. I didnt try another one to check if its a rom related problem. had an alpine before and noticed this problem also but it rarelly happened then.
My brother said that he had this problem too, but he solved it. It was since he installed a software called 'Storage Tools'. Did you do the same with your handheld?
My brother solved this just by uninstalling the software.
Okay, i hope this'd be useful.
I experienced this numerous times while using the original WM2003SE, but since upgrading to WM6 I have not had it once. The only thing I had (one time) was my card being seen as Storage Card2 and I also showed a Storage Card folder but it was not my card. I deleted it and reinserted the card and soft reset and all went back to normal.
This may also have to do with the sd card going to sleep and not waking up in which case it is software related and not hardware. Maybe setting the card not to go to sleep will solve the problem though with battery draining faster. Anyone know the setting or registry edit for this?
Upgrading to wm6.1
Try upgrading to ROM6.1, I had mine constantly missing too when I flashed to wm6. Now the problem settled. I am using PDAViet wm6.1, very stable.
This trouble was on my IPAQ rx1950 (it was before BA). Try to format\defrag your card, better in FAT (<2gb).
I have this problem in WM6, upgrade to WM6.1 solved it.
go and buy now you n000000bss
yes upgrading to wm6.1 solved this problem also.
mechanical problem
I have trouble with taking out the SD-card of the slot. Does anybody have an idea how to solve this problem ?
try dissasembling it... i know there's a post here with a link to the pictures on the steps how to do it.
then you can see how your SD got stuck.

NAND problems?

Browsing through my files, I bumped into something unexpected in my Device directory (see picture). Is this a NAND problem? How can I get rid of it?
It looks more like corrupt entries on the memory card. The reason I say this is I have had a few memory cards corrupt on me for whatever reason.
The way I have fixed that in the past has been to backup the device over ActiveSync (MS) and then hard reset the device after COPYING the data off the card onto the PC using a memory card reader / adapter.
The reason for copying and not moving is that with moving it changes the contents of the disk, which invariably made it harder to get the file off that I wanted.
Once the files were off and the device was clean I would reformat the memory card, pop it back in the phone, then having set it up and changed all the names to match what the old device was would plug it into the laptop and restore the data, and, er, reinstall from scratch.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on. This is assuming its a corrupt disk/memory issue in that way. Otherwise, just ignore me
PS. My hermes has a problem with Nand as well I think
I would agree if it were corruption files on memory card (same bad experience as well). However, corruption files are on Storage!
Have you recently upgraded to WM6 either OEM or modified?!
A week ago I upgrade to Shamanix Ultimate 2.0 ROM (see my signature). Before that, I had been on Schaps 4.30 and Custel WM6 ROM.
Somebody told me half a year ago that BigStorage may be dangerous - bringing up nand threat. I am trying to confirm this

So this could then be relational to the upgrade? Have you tried downgrading to the previous versions to resolve this?!

No, I see no sense in it. So far so good. If it should affect performance in any way, then I probably would.
For starters, I'll try to HR, and restore backup, then will see

Question about upgrading ROM

Hi there,
On my old HTC Diamond I installed everything to phone memory and so when I flashed it I just reinstalled all my apps. However, this time I have installed a large amount of them to the storage card. I don't remember my Diamond's storage card being flashed - so thats not the issue (I will probably remove the card before doing it anyway) - but my question is will my phone still see the installed apps on the memory card and put them in the start menu etc? Or will I be better off just uninstalling everything and re-doing it from scratch?
Also, is the new HTC Rom available in the UK yet?
bump?
surely someone can tell me

Check your HTC site in the UK to answer your own question.
Perhaps you should read more about how a flash works before you try with your HD2. Think of it this way: You have two hard disks in your computer, C and D. With Windows XP on C you installed all your programs on D. Then you decided to install Windows 7 on drive C, which copied over your XP. Do you think that Windows 7 will run the programs in D? The answer is obviously no.
The situation is similar when you flash a new ROM. With a file manager you could see the programs on your storage card, but that is all. You would have to reinstall all the programs for them to work.
Take care and understand everything you really need to know before you do decide to flash.
