What do the cabs do in the SPV M5000 extended ROM? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

After searching the forum I've found the thread related to the cabs in the 02 exec's ext. ROM but not a list for the UK Orange SPV M5000.
Can anyone tell me what each cab is responsible for?
Thanks.

Pre-announce: XDA Special Edition ROM v1.2, need your help!

We're creating Special Edition ROM v1.2, the last one still based on the 'old' O2 3.17.03 ROM. We chose not yet to build based on PPC2003 because we feel many things will still change between now and the actual release, and we still need to learn a lot more in order to be able to make something which is a significant improvement over the official ROM, once it appears.
So what's new in v1.2 ?
PhonExt
[list:a7505d4dbf]Single handed dialing
per-contact and per-category ringtones
D9
Another means of dialing with one hand
imov Messenger Basic (formerly jabberCE)

ICQ

MSN
PocketCHAT
IRC
tdClock
Large clock displayed on Today screen
tdLaunch
A few rows of shortcut buttons on today screen
[/list:u:a7505d4dbf]
Futhermore we fixed a few remaining issues, and depending on space we may add a virus scanner (AirScanner), an alternative POP mail client (nPOP) , and maybe more.
We need your help:
In order to be able to add more providers in the AutoConfig dialog, we need snapshot files from people that have a working setup for their provider.
Here's the procedure:
1) Check http://xda-developers.com/incoming to see your provider isn't there yet.
2) Set up your machine like someone in your country is likely to want it (12/24 hr clock, timezone (pacific for US?) and other regional settings. Create the necessary connections (at least GPRS, WAP if possible), and name them something logical (such as "O2 GPRS Internet").
3) Make a snapshot using the ssnap.exe tool provided with the Special Edition ROM.
4) Extract the following keys with all their values and data from the snapshot to a text-file:
[list:a7505d4dbf][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Clock]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations\WAP Settings]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\HTTP-{ADB0B001-10B5-3F39-27C6-9742E785FCD4}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\null-corp-{310E8001-80B9-C8BE-C333-EB6AB0026E3C}
For each connection, the following keys, where XXXX is the name of your connection:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\XXXX]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\XXXX]
5) Name the text file "Country - Provider" (e.g. "Germany-D1") and upload using ftp to xda-developers.com, username 'xdaftp' password 'xdaftp'.[/list:u:a7505d4dbf]
There's a file already there called 'Netherlands-O2' which can serve as an example.
You help will be much appreciated by others, and you'll be able to cold-boot v1.2 and have all your provider's settings right there. Deadline is this Sunday, July 6th, in the evening.

My Provider in Austria needs my Phone # (+43699xxxxxxxx) as User and a personalized password for GPRS Authentication.
My question:
is such a snapshot useful for the next release??
Fidl
battery low
Please remove that annoying battery low bleep reminder.
After all its just another registry entry.
Why was this over looked...

No, it's not. I guess users of this provider would need to set up GPRS themselves.

Ah, because we never travel far from our warm cradles, my friend.
What were those registry settings again, and how would you like 'em? (I seem to remember being able to set it to where it does warn, ut much later...)

Then again: you could just leave off the user and password values, and it would still be useful: i.e. provide apn, proxy (if applicable) and other settings. So yes, please send it anyway...

Hey, it also will be EXCELLENT if we can put our OWN LOGO (or picture) in the after RESET screen.
Dear XDA developer,
I already uploaded Thailand with AIS as the provider. There are other 2 providers in Thailand, which are DTAC and Orange. I will try to find them.
I wonder that some tools might be on your consideration in v1.2:
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- TIFF file viewer (for viewing FAX file on our mail)
- Ephemeris for checking the Sun, Moon and Compass
- Ruler (I think this is cool, when you need to measure something but no ruler)
- Stop time for StopWatch
- FreqTune for checking the sound frequency
- Remote Display, CERDisp (Microsoft)
(All above is freeware)

Hi Jabber by mov software creates a lot of GPRS traffic as opposed to ICQ. Since both apps are freeware, I suggest you install both in the next release. What I would _really_ love is the pocket divx player which can also handle ogg vorbis and mp3. Definitely a better choice than the Windows Media Player (www.pocketmvp.com).
Installing VNC was an excellent idea!
This is a great place for info on the xda, my respects to y'all at xda-developers.com

You can, just create your own theme. Or create your own ROM if you want it to survive cold-boot.

I'll try to find it (I'll ask if Google doesn't help me), and see if they are suitable. We're beginning to run out of space, so I may need to make some choices soon.
Hi XDA developer Peter Poelman
Also it would be nice to create a tool to change your operating logo on your XDA i.e. I’m using T-Mobile as my provider

I have a hunch this could be a little too big, but again, I'll have a look.
Hi,
i uploaded Autria - ONE (only GPRS, because i never used WAP with my device)
Hello,
might sound silly but I would go for a "choice" of programs to be installed, if this is feasible.

Hi,
I have added the German-D1 settings...
just to let you know I had to choose two different Keys:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations\Einstellungen WAP]
... Wap Settings is Einstellungen WAP in German Systems...Installed on an English 1.2 it should go in WAP Settings Key I would guess...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\null-corp-{FB2E8000-800B-849A-BC41-A56D8A2D7266}]
... I was not able to find the {310E8001-80B9-C8BE-C333-EB6AB0026E3C} in my German system, so I took the one with "Proxy"="new-corp:1743" line, as in you netherland "demo" file.
Let me know if this is useble or if I shall search something different...

What about the following Reg tweaks?
Low Battery Warning:
Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
Create a String value named "Default" and set its value to "Low battery warning".
Now go to Start > Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications applet > Notifications tab, select "Low battery warning" in the "Select an event" drop-down list and you can customize it.
Disable startmenu animation
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu\
Change the "AniType" value from 6 to 0.
Display Daten and Time in titlebar
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\
Create a binary value named "TBOpt" and set its value to "13 00 00 00"
Just my 2 cents

Icons in Total Commander
@ Peter Poelman
i found that the default icons in Total Commander point to \program files\... , but Total Commander is in the Windows dir.
for correct appearance of folders and zip-files i changed the following registry entries:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\tcfolder\DefaultIcon]
"Default"="\\windows\\cecmd.exe,-105"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZIPArchive\DefaultIcon]
"Default"="\\windows\\cecmd.exe,-102"
and i forgot:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZIPArchive\Shell\Open\Command]
"Default"="\"\\windows\\cecmd.exe\" \"%1\""

if you pissed off with t-mob comm mngr settings

i am piised off, dont know why but when you fully install t-mob rom link to discoonect from wi-fi is not there when you click wifi icon, instead there is a connection manager link there. so i have hard reset me phone stopped t-mob ist. and checked files.
in command mngr cust. cab there was ome entries and i found my way.
to get back your disconnect-connect wifi link ( when you clicked to wifi/gprs icon )
go to
HKLM\ControlPanel\9
and change
Group value 65536 to 2
then
go to HKLM\ControlPanel\WrlsMgr
clear \Windows\CommManager.exe from Redirect
plus change Group 65536 to 2
and you are done.
hopefully some one will add this one to hermes tweaker
Thanks M8;
Also they have tried to stop you from chsing UMTS under phone settings! your choice is now limited to Auto or GSM and you can no longer use the UMTS band 2100 etc only the mix. The cab responciable for this is PP_Remove_UMTS_Only_(Network_Band).CAB in \windows it is invoked in PreConfig.txt part of preautorun.exe. Anyway to get it back just use this :-
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting]

"ItemValue3"=dword:00000002

which UMTS i should choose on t-mobile?
Here in the UK keep the band type to Auto it will give you wider coverage.

MDA Only Connects to GPRS, not EDGE

Just updated my device to the latest ROM on the TMo WM Upgrade page.
When connecting to the internet in a coverage area that supports EDGE, I still get the G Icon on the top of the screen and the dialog box saying Im connecting/connected to GPRS
My cousin has the MDA as well and sitting next to me, when connecting/connected, his Icon is an E indicating he is on EDGE
Im currently running the Mobile 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0) ROM from TMo
Are there any settings that I have to change after the upgrade? All I did was upgrade and take the new ROM as is, I made no changes thus far.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Use a registry editor like "PHM Registry Editor" and got to key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\
Create a new DWord EnableDifferGprsEdgeIcon and assign it a value of 1
Soft Reset phone
Should work after that.
So this whole time Ive been on the EDGE system, I just didnt have the EDGE Icon?
Attached you will find the original connection settings cab's from T-Mobile - that are the ones from the original firmware. I used them on several ROMs and they work just fine.
It is easier to run the CAB files than going in to the registry all the time!
All I always use are:
P_Generic_Conn_Settings (sets up GPRS connections T-MO data / T-Mo MMS)
P_Edge_Icon
MMS.jpg (for setting up the MMS server in the Message options)
Hope that helps?
Thanks for the cabs!

Word autocomplete does not work anymore

I am currently using Larentius26 WM6 PRO Business Videocall, but I don't think this should be rom-specific.
The word autocomplete does not work anymore. I have already activated it in the Keyboard Input menu (Start: Settings: Input: Word Completion. I try to adjust the figures but it still doesn't work in any case). Soft-reset does not help.
As far as I understand it, the dictionary files in the \Windows\ folder: dicprob.0409.dat; statdict.0409.dat; mssp2.lex, are all there
Also, after a period of use, switching the input method becomes impossible.
Similar problem persists in the autofill contact name in the message composing window.
Major additional installed softwares include;
- Replacing original English font files with the one with English + Thai fonts (similar file names: tahoma.ttf & tahomabd.ttf).
- LingvoSoft Thai Keyboard
- Opera 8,60 (8,65 buggy + freezes)
- Pocket Informant (rev4 build869)
- Skype 2,2
- fring
- Risidoro Intent Manager (v11.1.7.1023)
- Battery Status (v1.04.203 beta4)
- Resco Explorer 2005
- Windows Live
- Live Search
This is otherwise a very good and stable rom. Not sure if the problem is rom specific, as I have found this problem in other non-Universal forums.
Anyone know how to deal with this issue, or any experience please advise.
Thanks a lot! Greatly appreciated!

[07-15-2010] ***T-Mobile HTC HD2 UnOff Service Pack 2***

The T-Mobile HTC HD2 UnOff Service Packs 1 & 2, I created with the cabbing help of skr_xd with the connection setup files (files I developed Leo-Based Roms for the Xperia but had strange difficulties cabbing them for the HD2, so skr_xd did the great job in cabbing them) will fix the main problems on the T-Mobile HTC HD2 which i noted below...
This Service Pack is for those who rather not flash custom ROMS, and continue using the stock 2.13.531.1 ROM...
I personally think the stock rom is great except for what this service pack does...
The T-Mobile HTC HD2 comes bundled with bloatware and a mixture of square icons and default wm6.5 icons; to me, the mixture is ugly...
Features:
Connection Setup... All Countries Included...
user must delete t-mobile connection settings manually by going to settings>connections>connections>manage existing connections>general>delete settings
connection setup may run after first reset, device may experience a 4 second lag when this occurs
Default settings menu restored...
Default Windows Mobile 6.5 Icons system wide... including newer system icons for that uniform look...
LED notifications of missed calls, sms and mms...
Solitaire & Bubble Breaker...
Camera & Camcorder Image Quality Increased...
Back Button and Graphical Send Button in HTC Messaging...
Owner Information Setting restored to register those games...
Automatic lock disabled... Very annoying, especially when listening to music; no more wasting time having to unlock the screen every single time you wake the device... you lock when you want!
Optimized for MS Office 2010 with new icons...
Color Twist Theme...
Minor Icon Replacements...
Icon Cache Refresh...
After system resets, apply new theme - ColorTwist
***Check the G-Sensor icon***
Icons that were removed...
***you need to delete their folders for more space manually (very easy to do with file explorer)***

Does not work, can't install on TMobile HD2. Plz help.
thats weird, I am using the same device and this is what I am using until i start cooking
Installed the service pack, but can't connect to internet. Internet provider is airtel india
you need to go to connection setup
pretty much no feedback on this, is no one using your hard work?
stock rom
just flashed back to the stock rom so yea ill give this a shot.
Me too just went to stock rom if this works it is just what i want
Installed perfect, now test but really looks good! You might have save me alot of disappointment Thanks
thanks guys... as soon as my comp is back up, I will be developing roms for the T-Mobile HD2 as well, with the same concept as I did for the Xperia X1...
Dear Spikegotti, plz help me how to set it for airtel India. I tried so many ways, in advanced tab i select the network, my ISP, acess point name- airtelgprs.com then finish. Tried Airtel Live too. On first day when i purchased it, without doing any settings it worked a full day. I surf so many sites. Next day it did not connect to net. So i start finding help on net. Finally i find UR post. So help me plz.
Call Airtel Customer support and get the GPRS settings. Then manually insert them to setting --> all settings --> connections --> connections
Its simple
you need to go to connections>connections, delete the existing settings which might be t-mobile... then use connection setup to apply your settings
edit: ok cool, for some reason t-mobile setting doesn't delete when applying new settings, these settings must be deleted manually
works GREAT
good job.
how we can check the settings to delete manually.
connections> connections> manage existing connections> general> delete settings
thanks guys

Hello..I have the required tmo stock rom. If I install this it would erase the bloatware? or will that be an update you are working on. I noticed the zipped cab says service pack 1 but you say sp2 will erase folders.? I just want to erase the bloatware to give me more ram space so phone will be faster, is this cab for me?..thanks
about the bloatware, it will remove the links... its easy to remove the folders, just connect via usb and remove them, either via the pc or on the device... folders located in the programs directory... block buster, mobitv etc.
the game folders are located on the sd card
