For some reason since yesterday I keep getting this other menu system coming up on the main page which slows my exec down.
It has tabs for home, custom, settings, help along the bottom. And on the left side of screen messages, calls, o2, video, media centre, extras, favorites. How can I get rid of all this?
I just want my main page to display the basic stuff like date, owner, messages, tasks, appointments, msn, battery status.
Thanks!

what the ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
never heard of such a thing as what you are referring to?
Tried hard resetting it?
Have you installed some dodgy software?
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i just re-read it
you have the ubeaut whizz bang O2 screw up system
hard reset the phone, go into coroprate mode, enter the magic key posted on this web 0506 I think or something similar
this is posted in various ways on these forums, alas I use the Jasjar so no such problem
You have 3 install types, and you want to go back to the basic corporate mode not the o2 bloated stuff

Ok I had gotten board with the lack of wifi and decent web browser on the Treo 650 that I decided to make the move to the 8125. I knew about the speed difference and some of the other issues discussed in these forums because I researched the device for months before making the move. Therefore I wont say much about that. Unfortunately I have a few issues that I can't seem to find answers for in this forum and I was hoping other users out there could help.
1. Is there any way of making the navigation pad useful? I cant access anything on the taskbar and it would be great if I could. I installed magic button so I can close apps and switch back to home when I want. Furthermore there is almost no documentation on how to use the nav pad. All application instructions say tap the icon. It's very convenient to have one handed use. for example i have yet to figure out how to get back to the location bar in Pocket IE so I can enter a url without having to tap the screen.
2. Is it common that some applications just freak out when you switch to landscape mode (scroll bars not working and such)?
3. As mentioned I installed magic button but is there an application that will pop up a list of running tasks so I can switch between them easily with the navigation pad.
4. Backup. I may be very wrong on this but I fear that active sync does not actually backup my entire device like palm does. Could someone clear this up and if I'm correct is there a way for active sync to do this. I have more programs on this device than what is on my add/remove prog screen.
5. Notification reminders. I see a feature to have the led for a period of time but it would be nicer if it could be set to play its sound also. Like the pagers of old.
6. Notification of lost service. This phone never tells me I have no cell service. Last thing I want is battery draining searching or worse assuming I have service and miss all calls.
If anyone could provide some info on the above it would be a great help. i have already found many other programs that make up for the lacking features. Below is a list of what I have installed please make any suggestions you think would be helpful.
1. AnthaVPN - easiest and fastest to install
2. TN520 by mochasoft
3. Pocket Putty SSH client
4. Eyes On Call - Callfilter like program with many features still limited but the developer is very quick in implementing suggestions.
5. Info sharp - same developer as above but this provides sms capabilities that are very impressive. He almost has chat style sms with the way this program works.
6. OMAPclocker - for clocking to 220. I actually see the difference.
7. IM+ - Sametime/AOL instant messenger client.
8. Info apps I have Metro, Ereader, Bdicty, VadeMecum
9. TCPMP
10. Registry Wizard
11. Calc98 - the built in calc app is a joke.
12. Xpressmail - dont care what anyone says this app does what it says it will do. Pushes email to your phone.
Thank You
- Richard
Hey everyone,
I'm new here, attracted by my purchase of an X1 last week. I was disappointed playing with it at first, but after installing lots of things from here I love it - you guys are wizards, thanks!
Anyway, I've hit a problem and would be grateful for some help. Something I installed in the last few days messed up my screen layout - in some menu items the text was slightly shifted to the right, meaning the last word or two was actually chopped off the screen. I tried uninstalling a few things, but nothing helped, so I thought 'factory reset'. This was successful in resolving the issue, and I installed all my apps and panels again.
However, strangely, Messenger was no longer there. My phone is an O2 handset and it was there originally. So I installed Windows Live, only to notice that it ships from Microsoft with no IM installed. So I had to get it from a link here, and it works perfectly. But now, there seems to be a lack of integration with the app and my phone, e.g it does not show up on my Microsoft Live panel (I only get Live and Sync, with the 3rd 'space' empty). Also, I'm sure there used to be an 'instant message' option on the menu of a contact - that's no longer there. It's mainly the shortcut on the Live Panel I'd like back though, any ideas?
Jason
Hi,
I was wondering, can I put a code on my contacts and my messages?
I just dont like it when people are playing with my phone, how easy it is for them through my contacts and messages.
Never had this problem with previous phones (well it isn't a REAL problem, just a hindrance), cause there you had to go through at least 2 or 3 clicks to see them.
Anyone know any software I can install for this? Or how I can enable it?
Im running the stock rom btw, should it matter...
Put the main pin code in Settings & Lock or...
...don't give other people your phone!
I've never heard of something which locks just the items you mention, sort of goes against the point of an easy to use, easy to access phone UI.
I think I saw a Samsung phone which had it, everything was open on the phone, just the text messages required a pin. I saw it and loved it.
And its mainly now that I have a new phone that everyone wants to see it and use it, and I don't want to be prick and say no =)
As for a main PIN, I do have that.
what you got to hide!?
yes samsungs (well at least use to) enable you to set codes for individual programs. eg texts, pictures, videos etc etc. not seen another phone that does that though. tbh its good with have a lock code at all as alot of phones dont even have that!
best thing to do is turn touch flow off so its just the windows today screen, then they have to scroll trough your programs etc to get to contacts/msgs
Hi guys,
Been searching around but can't find answers, please if you know this question has been asked, just point me in the right direction.
I have a Vodafone Magic (yeah, yeah, I know, stupid right? Fancy wanting an android phone that the supplier will never upgrade past 1.6) But I didn't have that knowledge at the time. While I'm not happy with the phone generally, I have a more specific question.
I have always been happy enough using the stock broswer, although I have tried others too. But Just yesterday a problem turned up, that even using alternate browsers does not help with. When I go onto google site, and into preferences (settings) for google, which goes basically to the same page regardless of browser, I have always been able to save my prefernces, Ie safe search (other than moderate), save location, save searches etc. But yesterday, and since, every time I change a setting, save and then go back into settings, nothing I changed has altered.
Basically rambling, but say I change safe search to strict, press save, goes back to google page, go back into settings, and sure enough safe search is back to moderate.
This used to happen only when I cleared cache.
What the hell have I done to the phone to cause this, it's really quite irritating.
I have turned phone off and back on. I haven't done a factory reset yet, as hoping there is a solution that doesn't invole reinstalling all apps etc. I haven't done a soft reset, because I don't know if one exists.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
"have a Vodafone Magic is stupid right?" I don't think so haha
So after coming from a Windows phone for years, I'm beginning to realize Android is incredibly different.. and of course, in a good way. I've added all the usuals, FB, emails, twitters, etc.. and finally figured a good way to handle contact photos, emails, social networking, etc... however, I have paid a price in probably changing a bunch of settings I never should have.
Am reading that sometimes (as I am unrooted/unmodded) that doing a factory wipe can help clear some of that stuff out.
Q1: Is this possible on Android without root and if so, what do people recommend?
Q2: I'm assuming it will save my paid apps?
Q3: When creating a new text message, is there a reason I'm having to scroll through work and home numbers of my contacts instead of it defaulting to whichever is listed as mobile? Hoping this is the stock SMS app that has the issue and I can find a separate one to fix?
Thanks in advance.

1.doing a foctory wipe will set your x back to pretty much out of the boxi would just clear cache instead
2.yes your paid apps are synced through the market and google and will always be there
3.if they have more then one number it will show
Awesome, thanks.. How do I clear cache and why wouldn't Android recognize the mobile # as a higher priority when drafting a text? Windows did that, surprised Android doesn't!

to be honest im not sure why it wouldnt recognize it as a higher priority i will do some research on the topic......to clear your cache go into recovery mode
power phone of
then hold the power button and the home button and screen will turn on
keep holding them simultaneously until you see a droid guy with an orange triangle
once you see the triangle let off the buttons and press search button
this will bring up some options for you
now you scroll up and down with your volume rocker and select with the menu button or camera button
select what you want to do in your case its wipe cache
you go back using the power button and just select reboot and thats it
