Hi!
Since yesterday my ok, windows, on and off hook and -- buttons aren't working anymore. The button in the middle and the cursor are still ok. Any ideas?
Due to the fact that the "--" (left and right) are not working I can't even do a hard reset.

Hi all,
OK I did a hard reset but it didn't work. Still no go :-(
The black coating is also peeling off. What a nice device.
mine just packed up too
more and more bugs are showing up every day passes... I somehow knew It would happen.. I don't think I'll take the risk of buying a p3600 through import without warranty after reading all these problems..
Good luck man
Trinity working well ..

While I dare not say my Trinity will be problem free, so far it has served me well. Everything is working as it should and the internal GPS has been enabled without a single problem. I'm on the test ROM (AKU3.3) and so far the performance is much better than my old Dopod 838 Pro (Hermes).
So far I have been very impressed with HTC built devices. A friend of mine's Dopod 838pro (Hermes) went into the pool accidentally, and it refuse to boot. After 3 days of intensive 'drying' it finally came back to life and it is working problem free until now.

Hehe, good to hear that....
I'm personally considering the hermes (TYTN) myself, because it's available here with warranty.. I hope the new ROM with AKU3.3 will improve it..

My personal advise to you would be to test the 3G call on that device before you buy it. The only advantage the Tytn has over Trinity is:
1) Flash light & Macro Picture
2) Keyboard
3) Additional hard button (Messaging, IE, 3G call)

The main reason I'm considering it is that i can buy it from here in israel with warranty, I don't wanna risk buying the trinity abroad.
I don't really care about 3G calls, I never use it, but 3G internet speeds aren't bad
the keyboard seems a big advantage over the trinity. The main advantage of the trinity is the small and pocket form factor, but unfortunately I can have it only by importing it

No. It's @ HTC since 2 weeks

ok cheers, if it's any help they have repaired mine twice for this issue. Originally it went in for the peeling paint, but while they had it the buttons failed the test so were replaced. Then when they bodged the repair and it went back again, again the buttons failed the test and they replaced again.
Then when I get the phone back...the buttons don't work! Incidently before they started repairing the phone I never had a problem with the buttons
Hi!
I know that this thread is quite old but I prefer to post in this thread rather than opening a new one (sorry if I am not doing well but I am new at the community )
Yesterday I was working on a P3600 and suddenly all buttons stop working. The irDA also did not work. I have left the phone all the night without the battery (I really don't know what I was trying to achieve ), and this morning the buttons (and the irDa) did not work yet. Now, after a hard reset, it seems that all is working as it should.
My questions are, why after a hard reset? (it seems to point out a software issue); is this problem related to the touch screen problem I've been reading about in the forum? (perhaps the cause is the same); and finally, is it likely to appear again?
Thanks in advance
ROM version: 1.15.412.2 10/23/06 (original one)
Radio version: 1.20.00.11
ExtROM version: 1.15.412.101
My D-pad select, down, right and OK have been getting steadily worse requiring more pressure to use. Mine isn't software related. Just sent it back today asking for the black peeling issue to be repaired as well.
I held out as long as I could hoping that any issues had been resolved by HTC. I'll post when I get it back.

did u get it back? my keys also stopped working..windows + ok + up key.
should i contact htc or e-tailer?
You will probably have to get return authorization through your retailer.
It's been about 2-1/2 weeks and no word from HTC. I emailed them today. I will be sure to post when I get it back regarding GPS Rom and peeling.
Just got it back - all pretty again. They replaced the bezel and switch board. Still has old rom but I am happy.

I've had the exact same thing happen twice now. Everything is going along fine and then suddenly all the keys stop working until I do a hard reset. The touch screen keeps going as normal. I haven't tested the IRDA but it appears that USB and active sync don't want to go either. A hard reset solves the problem but then I have to reinstall things which is annoying.
There must be other people out there with this problem. Has anyone come up with a solution?
I don't think, that there will be a fix...seems like a hardware problem to me.
I have nearly the same....the red and the green call buttons don't work properly!
For me they work immediately after a soft reset and then stop again within about 30 seconds. Hardware or software? it would appear to be software but I had the same issue using the official T-Mobile WM5 and still umder Black Satin WM6.....
think I'll flash back to official ROM and take it into the shop tomorrow!
I am currently using Imate JasJam with original rom with wm5. Every now and then I have a problem writing from the keyboard. When I slide the keyboard to type any msg or email, the pressing of the keys doent do anything, then I have to soft reset or it will be fine after sometiem. Anyone having same problem, what could be the cause.
Same Jasjam Keybaord problem and internet explorer
I am having the above mentioned problem for quite a while now and nobody seems to help. Please explain if you got some information of jasjam keyboard problem. Also having problem with pocket internet explorer, after browsing some time i get script error that says that script is slowing and explorer hangs for some time. Please help.
If you're using i-mate's English ROM installed then try the latest.
Latest Rom
I am using imates latest rom for jasjam but still the same problem, and whats the solution for internet explorere certificate error.
any solution to this issue as of yet? I just got my i-mate jasjam and am already having this issue quite frequenty.
A soft reset does seem to fix it although the backlighting on the keyboard seems to disappear aswell and the soft reset doesnt fix this.
This has only happends to me once.
Soft-reset did the job, and it hasnt happend again.
Running on XDA Live .20
What third-party apps you have installed? Do you still have the same problems after a fresh hard reset before installing extra apps? Regarding problems with PIE, try the latest Opera beta.
Anyone has a solution for this case ?
I just bought imate jasjam on 2 days ago, and the keyboard not function as well.
I did the soft reset, and keyboard back to normal for several hours, and then happen again.
I did the hard reset too, but the problem still appear.
Anyone can help me ?
Thanks

In that case, take the phone back. And if you can, get a different phone.
(There's too many guys out there with white screens and buttons not working)
I did, swapped by the store with the new one. After 24 hours, same problem appears I am very disappointed with this product....
I think this one's a common problem. I faced this issue with my Dopod 838Pro a lot too (with original Dopod WM5 ROM), but the problem seems to have lessen with WM6. Tried tapping the OK key on the keyboard a few times and see if the keyboard returns to control?
My friend has a Dopod 838 pro since the first release, but he never had a problem like this, even he still using an original WM5... Am I wrong if I say that the I-mate JASJAM was a refurbish version of Dopod 838 ?
I tried seaching through different threads, but couldn't find the same topic, so please forgive me if I indeed am repeating an already listed thread...
I'm extremly happy with my TyTn, but one thing which is DRIVING ME ABSOLUTELY NUTTS AND UP THE WALL, is the so called "lazy keys" on it's qwerty pad. Sometimes is doesn't respond and other times it doubles/triples the letter..
Are any of you having the same problem and do any of you have a solution to this?..
Any helpful answers would be highly appreciated!..
Mike
- a frustrated TyTn owner
I am having the same issues. CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS?
I have got the same problem but have learnt to live with it but a fix would be great.
mine does it too but i think it's a memory problem. when i begin typing it will not show anything for a few seconds and then BAM there all the text is.
my solution is simple.. i know it will eventually show what i typed. so when it starts to lag.. just keep typing man and it will catch up.
that case is OK. I'm referring to a key being totally unresponsive unless I press really hard or somtimes a key kinda "sticks" and doubles/triples the letter...
It's stopping any quick typing as you finish a word only to see that it has doubled or missed out a letter in the word!!!
If anyone has a solution, even if it means taking the dang divice apart..
i took mine apart the other day for this problem
it looked all fine
i cleaned out the membrane and the board that the membrand touches
worked better for a good 2 hours
and then right back to the problem....
we need a permanent fix lol
my c button is unresponsive now. It seemed fine using Black Majik but its started playing up on Black Satin.

Laz Keys
Fellas, I've switched from the Black Majik rom to the Black Satin rom and now all of my kes are responsive as on my old device. I don't know if this is a permanent fix since I've only had this rom for a week or so, but I will update the forum in another week.

I can understand different ROMs affecting the overall responsiveness of the keyboard. However it does not make sense to me that different ROMs would affect the responsiveness of certain keys only.
I would certainly urge folks to be sure their problem is one of specific individual keys only before attempting the physical fix in my post above. In other words be very sure the problem is NOT one of a laggy keyboard response due to ROM/software.
Mike
Just wanna share my test....
I got lazy keys on my Dopod 838 Pro also after upgrading to official Dopod WM6 ROM. At this time I had more than 1500 SMS stored. Since the lazy keys were affecting on SMS/Email writing and not on other apps, I was thinking whether the problem is related somehow to this huge number of stored SMS.
I deleted all my SMS and directly afterwards the keyboard is responsive again.
Can't validate this as I need to wait for my SMS to grow again to see if the lazy keys problem returns... but maybe you can check from yours if you have huge number of stored SMS/email.
Hi, recently my SPV M5000 has been really acting weird. it was fine using WM5 official rom, then i upgraded it to luca's wm6.1 rom, and it was still fine. then a month or two later it started behaving weird. in apps such as word, typing on the keyboard brings up the phone app, and when left alone it suddenly starts dialling numbers (the last number dialled)
i flashed it to tomal's 6.1 rom, and its still doing the same thing!! i'm at my wits end right now. could it be the bootloader or something? im using v2.06. i cant remember if i upgraded to it or if my device came with it.
thanks in advance
Try Doc format and reflash ROM
thanks for the reply, i just tried it but it dosent work
after checking it out some more, i realised most of the keys work fine, however its the h,n,j and u keys that are causing it to launch the phone app. Im not sure why it keeps trying to dial the last dialled number all by itself. i have to cancel it maybe 10 times before it stops trying.
the green "call" button on the spine of the phone also dosent work
could this be a hardware issue?
If if you tried the doc format and flashed other roms and the issue is still there it might be hardware problem...
and one thing just after flashing to new rom don't back up anything and see if the problem is still there.. if no then this bight be due to some applications in backup....
cheers
Rajiv...
sounds like hardware. you may have a sticky key. I'd take it to bits, give it a good clean and make sure the connectors are firmly pressed in - as concerns the spine keys and keyboard.
no, its not a sticky key. i guess its a loose/frayed connector
i'm reluctant to disassemble because of the form factor. guess i'll have to mothball it until i can get it repaired. i dont use it much anymore anyway, have since upgraded to a HD, but my girlfriend was using it as a mini laptop for word and skype when she didnt want to lug her laptop to college.
thanks anyway for the help
Is the screen intact? Is it clean around the edges? Did she spill coffee (cola?any drink?) on it? Is there any dirt around the screen where it meets the frame? Has it got a new screen protector installed recently?
Sounds like your hinge PCB got wet and is shorting.
Hi all,
I am not a techie I am an accountant so please bear with me.
I have just bought a used XDA Mini S. However, I am occassionaly getting a white screen with blank vertical lines. I also have a problem with the symbols on the pull out QWERTY keyboard.
I have tried a soft reboot but the device does nothing I thought it was supposed to erboot and turn on?
I also found this in another thread but it is meaningless to me:
Fix in the wiki....
Keyboard Symbol Fix
Some have experienced the symbols on their slide out keyboard to become mixed up after upgrading to this rom. The following registry edit will resolve this issue.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
"Layout"=dword:263177 change this to "Layout"=dword:132105
I do not know what has been done to the machine so I do not know if the above will work (even if I could understand what I had to do!) or just make it worse! I do not want to do a hard reset as I cannot get the activesync to work and I may be left with an expensive brick! I know it was upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.1 and there were a lot of additional programs.
I used to have a Palm and didn't have any of these problems. Is it just because someone has mucked about with it?
Please help!
not a techie
I'm afraid you must make a hardreset or flash an another ROM...
Many thanks
