spb pocket plus and XDA EXEC .... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Has anyone tried the new version of spb Pocket Plus (which supports windows mobile 5) on an XDA EXEC with the latest firmware ?
What are your experiences of it ? Do you recommend it ? Any problems ?
Does it have an impact on the performance of the XDA EXEC ?
Thanks.

It's a must have for me together with SPB Weather with BBC as the source not weather.com. It does cause a start delay if you have the storage card memory enabled - so don't !!
Files on Today is a freebie if you buy Pocket Plus and that's useful too.

Yes, I think its great. Add spb diary and pocket informant too. SPB pocket plus just release another newer version march 1st., it is even better.

SPB Pocket Plus works flawlessly in my BlueAngel WM5 machine, however, I feel that SPB P+ slowed down my device so I decided to use combination of iLauncher v2.2 (http://www.sbsh.net) and Wisbar Advance 2.4.1.9 (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com) which runs awesome (much faster than using SPB Pocket Plus)
As for pocket informant, you need to download WM5 version from here:

I hope this helps
there is a big list of progs that are known to work/not work in the himalaya forum.
what i dont understand though is if the program is known to work ok on wk2k5 himalaya, will the same prog work on a k-jam which has a different kind of CPU? or is it all like PC's now where the make of the cpu doesnt really matter and that windows takes care of all that kind of stuff.

there is already a warning that tomtom 5 will not install properly through activesync 4, (files have to be transfered without activesync 4) this may also be why some other programs will seem to be incompatable with wm5?
so if you can transfer the program eg by card reader that you want to test, then install it, you may get better results.
mine should be arriving tomorrow
changing the subject slightly, ordered mine from http://www.smartdevicesdirect.com/index.php
very happy with the service.

SPB Pocket Plus 3.1 vs. WisBar Advance 2...which is better?

SPB Pocket Plus 3.1 vs. WisBar Advance 2
I have searched everywhere on the net and there are such mixed emotions as to which utility is overall better (based on stand alone performance, plug-ins you add, themes etc.)
So I turn to this orgi of experts....
What are all your opinions (be detailed if necessary)???
(Please state which one of the two you are currently using if you are using either.)
I use Spb Pocket Plus 3.1 and tried Wisbar 2.x, the reasons I still run PP 3.1:
- I like tabs on my Today Screen to sort my stuff instead of going through menus, submenus and sub-sub-menus
- It performs better on my Vario than Wisbar
- It has a SafeMode for booting/removing programs that otherwise would have to be deleted by hand.
- I like the meters that come with PP3.1
- I like the interaction with Spb Diary 1.7 ( Messages, Contacts, Notes, Tasks, etc. )
- Its ease of use and simple customizing functions
- I prefer the taskmanager more than the wisbar one
But all in all its a matter of PERSONAL TASTE. Some swear on PocketBreeze/Contact Breeze others Spb PocketPlus & Diary for example.
So best thing is - try it - see how it performs on YOUR machine and then go ahead an purchase which suites you best.
hi
may be you can try WAD with WA2 from lakeridge software to.
regards
i wouldn't directly compare which one is better since they don't exactly do the same things
wisbar is more for skinning and interface while spb is more like utilities and plug-ins
i used to use both together, but i found that wisbar was slowing my device too much, not that it's bad, but i didn't care to skin it anymore
i also prefer pocket plus 3.1
if your using a Wizard device it seems to perform the best and integrates w/the other utilites very well! (i also have spb diary and weather and time)
i've noticed that since i've went to using spb based products/plugins the perf on my mda is way better! (tmobile mda usa w/kjam aku2 rom)
before i was using seperate apps for task managing and today screen info and had to reset daily. now i can go a few days with out a soft reset..
just my .02
oh yea, once you get pocket plus, extended themes will work! and you can make your own via a free add-on to the windows theme maker..

Problem with WM5 on xda neo

Hi everybody,
I set up my xda neo with the o2 ROM upgrade and everything works very satisfactory. But there are a few things that bother me.
Most important the device does not show the today-screen after shut off, the amount of time is set and activated. I'm using PocketPlus today screen plugin with SPB diary.
Second the sound sceme is boring and I can't even play mp3 ringtones. Is there a way to correct this and maybe a freeware Ringtone-Sceme?
Thanks for the help
-Florian
Hi !
Go and search for "ringo" - with ringo you can give several sound schemes to User Groups and Contacts, as well as different SMS Tones and mp3 Ringtones....Perfectly what u need
Did you install the Latest Neo Upgrade given by o2online ?
I did never have a problem with the Today screen, maybe the Tool is broken ?
yes, the latest ROM-upgrade is installed.
Do you use pocket plus? maybe it interferes, have to try out and deinstall it...
another question: does your xda neo handle the camera-function well? Mine gets very slow and sometimes even freezes...
Hallo, I'm also use xda neo and I had the problem with spb pocket plus too. but my problem is due to I use the old version spb pocket plus 3.0.1.My neo couldn't be soft reset when I used spb pocket plus and always stuck at windows mobile screen. I think you use new version of spb pocket plus ,so Do you have the problem with soft reset? I'm diciding should I buy the new version or not.
pocket plus
I only have the Problem with the today-screen, which is not shown after x hours of inactivity. Reset and everything else works just fine. the spb pocket diary is a very nice extension, too.

Software like SPB Pocket Plus

There any one know a software beter than the old SPB Pocket Plus? Thanks
yes, spb mobile shell

SPB Pocket Plus vs Mobile Shell

Hi All,
Which do you use? SPB Pocket Plus or SPB Mobile Shell? (or both).
I'm looking to get one, and both look good... but unsure which is better to go for!
Cheers,
Amnesia
Hello!
I use them booth!
u can make in MobilShell a tab for Pocket+!
this is great, so u have two plugins with more choices!
if u want i´ll post my today screen!
U also can use the plugins from MobileShell in Pocket Plus!....
Hi Amnesia,
I use both, Mobile Shell primarely for the different colour schemes and the nice foto contacts screen,
and Pocket Plus so you can place icons on you Today screen from witch you can get to all applications
on your device.
Greetz ....
i have both, but i prefer pocket plus. mobile shell is 1 of my panels so i can use that anytime. i prefer pocket plus because imo i feel theres more customizability with that.
last week i found a way of running the panel and the full app at the same time, only the theme gets messed up, has somone a solution for this?
- install spb panel
- backup the MobileshellPanel.dll + four bitmaps
- install spb full
- restore the MobileShellPanel.dll and the bitmaps
(you can extract the files from the mobile panel cab with MSCEInf)
has someone a solution for the theme?
At the moment i'm using Pocket Plus cause of it's flexibility (add plugins from other programs as a tab), but SPB are about to release a new version of Mobile Shell which looks amazing.

Apparently due out sometime this month maybe next. There's another video around with someone from SPB demoing it on a phone which looks even more impressive.
