Hi
Edited a WAV file and stored in my storage card. It plays OK in my XDA2 but when I tried to use it as a ringtone for the phone, it does not play any sound other than some clicking noises.
Please help.
make sure your wav is PCM.. xda II doesnt support all formats of wav.

Click to collapse
Is there a utility to convert this to PCM WAV format? Thanks.
To convert WAV file so will play on XDA2, use the windows utility Sound Recorder: sndrec32.exe
Open the wav file in Sound Recorder.
Click File -> Properties
Click Convert Now button
Change Format combo to 'PCM'
Change Attributes combo to 11.025KHz, 8 Bit, Mono
You don't really need more than that as XDA2 doesn't play stereo.
anyone here knows how i can incorporate an mp3 as a ringtone via software or utilities without having converting them into wav files?
;p
well you could try and convert it to wma then you could use it
or play the song you want via the media player; then hop over to your notes app and record the tune you want. the recording is already in wav and you can use it directly as a ringtone. doubt if you want to record the entire song as a wav since you'll be answering the phone after a few seconds worth of tunez....quality is a-ok in my opinion...
cheers
needs to be in wma format
Dude
the xda 2 can only use wav & wma files for ringtones.
i use a free prog called dbpoweramp which can convert pretty much any known audio file. u can get it from here:
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
u will also need to grab the correct codec (WMA) from their codec central section, and ur sorted.
Hope this helps

I've no problem using midi for ringtones. Only the alarm/reminder/etc are still using wav.
I have some MP3, I want to use as a ringtones in my iMate.
Since it can't use MP3 as ringtone, I need to convert it to WAV.
I cut part of the songs, but still the result is big.
What is the best method to convert the MP3's for using as ringtones?
Which type of wav is the best, assuming I need reasonable quality, and affordable size?
you cant use mp3 but you can use wma which is kinda like mp3
wav is as a rule too much bigger to fit a long ringtone in
you can use the free program cdex
to make wav into mp3 wma or what ever
and to make mp3 into wma or wav or what ever
Thanks for your advise.
Or you could use Nero sound tool to convert MP3 into MP4 and then use that. That makes for very small files. (Provided that you have a Nero license)
i use easy cd ripper. its free
if you have nero 6 ultra, you can also use nero wave editor
help me out! is there a program like an mp3 converter for ppc? convert mp3 file FROM a xdaII to xdaII?... tnx!
MP3 Converter
I don't know for ppc. But you can convert mp3 to wma or wav on your pc. Use AudioRight Converter. It's "almost" freeware and works like a charm
cdex is 100% freeware and opensource too
WME 9.0
I think Windows Media Encoder will be a good converter if you want WMA (WAV, MP3 to WMA) and WMV (AVI to WMV). And it's free!
dbpower amp...
hi
i have just put some MIDI files on my xda mini, which play just fine with some of that integrated windows software.
unfortunately i cannot use them as ringtones. (i have put them in /windows/rings, where i found that o2 custom ringtone)
i think its simply the file format thats ignored by my magician.
what file formats are readable for the magician (wm 2003 in general?) for ringtone usage?
tia
wav, wma & mp3 shouldn't give you any probs. when you put them in the rings folder. Use mp3 patch to be able to select mp3 files as ringtone with file explorer.

I'm using *.mp4 for ringtone.
What do you use to play them? Caller id?
Nice tag too.
M
I have converted from *.mp3 to *.mp4 using nero 6.1.Then I download TCPMP player and many plugins. After that I found that I can use the *.mp4 for a ringtone. That is!
Thank you for the tag...
Ok,
I got Nero & TCPMP, so going to try it out. I use oldphone for ring, but very curious whether this works.
M
yes its very bad.My ringtone now is Elize - Automatic.
Do yo know about the *.mp4 format? When not I tell you!
I use it for film, not for music. 'till now
it plays very very good the songs.About the *.mp4 format. It is smaller then the *.mp3.Normal the mp3 is about 4-5Mb and the mp4 is 1-2.With the same bitrate like mp3.That is.
