Hi guys
I'm the happy owner of an SPV m5000 (Orange Switzerland), and also of a Cowon iAudio X5 DAP. The X5 has a limited USB-Hosting capabilities, which can usually be used to copy pictures from a digital camera, or music from another player, on the go, without the need for a computer. So today, just out of interest, I connected my m5000 (CardExportII active) with the X5, and hey presto...I had access to files on the m5000's card from the X5's interface.
Here's a snapshot: http://homepage.hispeed.ch/molph/pix/m5000-X5.jpg
Oh, and before you get too excited, the snapshot does show the extended_ROM files, but those are the copies of the originals in a folder on my SD-card in the m5000. This only works with CardExport.
Another drawback is that the X5 seems to have a problem with this connection, and turns itself off after a minute or so.

I'm newbie, so maybe these questions are silly!
1) Is it possible to change the Danish SPV Orange M1000, so it's behaving like the Qtec 2020?
2) If the answer: "yes" - is it then possible to use my Nokia 3330's SIM (from TDC) in the M1000?
Best Regards
Roddi
look in the unlock forum if it can be unlocked then you can use any sim in it
also you should be able to update the rom with a qtek2020 rom if you have one
Unlocking Orange M1000
Yes, I have unlocked my Orange M1000 and use a Telmore SIM for GPRS (10 DKR/MB) Orange, however is far cheaper when calling land lines, so I will continue to use that card as well on occasions.
The unlock program works perfectly, it extracts the unlock code from the M1000 and displays it on the PC screen. You then load the new SIM and enter the code when prompted.
This way, you are not changing anything inside the M1000 (using any questionable method) and they should have a hard time denying you warranty if you need it.
I have not yet updated the ROM, I have not found a need. I have loaded a 'fix' to correct the problem about missing alarms (check http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html).
Since everything is working close to perfectly, I will wait on the ROM upgrade until I read about something I need..
Congratulations with the M1000, I love it, it is the best device I have ever had.
Regards
Michael
A BIG thanks to you guys - specially Michael for your excellent answer...!!!
It's sounds perfect, so now I'm going for the M1000 instead of the Qtec 2020, and earn lots of money - maybe spend on bluetooth-GPS

Bluetooth GPS
I use TomTom Navigator 2 and the Emtac Bluetooth GPS. Works much better than on my HP IPAQ:
On the Ipaq you need to select the bluetooth device everytime you start Tom Tom.
The 128 MB RAM makes it possible to load the South Scandinavia map, previously on the IPAQ I had to switch between each country.
I feel that the sensitivity of the bluetooth receiver is better on the M1000, I have picked up my GPS mounted in the car from my 2. floor flat on several occasions, this was difficult on the Ipaq.
Do look at more recent versions than the Emtac, it has a pretty short battery life (rated 6 hours), if you walk a big city, a device with a larger battery would be better.

Once again Michael, many thanks for your information.
I'm going to mount the M1000 and GPS together on my motorcycle, so i'm not get lost on my travel to Austria next summer! 8)

hi community,
is there any way, to use my xda II as a wireless webcam? i want to move around freely and send live video to my laptop. via bluetooth, or anything else.
falkk
There is a program fro the Nokia 7650 series phones called remote s60, what it dose is constantley sends pictures of what is on the screen of the phone to a pc either by Ird BT or GPRS, So if you have the camera on the PC will see the images that are on the phone.
OK i know its not for the PPC series but the idea is excellent maybe some one has one the same but for us to use on our XDA2
here is a link to the nokia software

waiting for T-mobile to call to get mine....
Hi!
I have already ordered the MDA compact at the local T-online Shop in Weil am Rhein (D) 'caus I live nearby in Basle (CH). Although online it seems available, they are still awaiting delivery :?.
Anynone knows when they actually get to the stores? The shop is getting crazy with me I think, I call almost every 2-3 days to know some news when its coming, he he he.
Cheers

hi,
I just received mine from t-mobile Germany yesterday.
It looks great. It's very stylish and superbly manufactured. I was looking for a small pda-phone I can carry around in my pocket and my Qtek 2020 was a little bit to bulky.
This machine is great. Not much bigger then my Siemens S65.
So far it runs every program I had on my Qtek.
GPS is fine via BT and TomTom 3 is running well.
The SD-card-slot works with my 1 GB Transcend SD-Card and my SAN-DISK WLAN Card.
Windows Mobile SE is a big step forward concerning the display settings supporting different font sizes and landscape setting.
The included mini-usb cable is capable of charging and syncing the device simultanously.
Included software is also nice. Truefax, GPRS Monitor, Clearview, voice dialing software.
Didn't have a change to check the battery.
by the way. is there a solution to show the contact info of sent sms?
hi andilein, would you mind to post some photo for us ?

Post some photos please.
What difference does the 64MB of RAM make as against 128MB?
What's Clearview?

Is the version you ordered English?? Sim unlocked?? What website did you order from?? Thanks
Me and my collegue are each the happy owners of a Qtek S100 unit, but.........
I'm getting tired of having to put the units into the cradle everytime we have to sync our calenders etc. Especially because were not neccessarily next to a computer all the time.
Can't this be done directly via BT or IR?
Really hope you can help.............
No one ???
I can upgrade my phone next month and the Jamin only became available in SA about 2 months ago and we are still waiting for any HTC Hermes devices, but we will probably get the JasJam.
I don't know if I should wait for the JasJam to arrive in SA or take the Jamin. 2 Things that put me off the Jamin, not a very fast processor and no 3G, but then again full SD slot, I don't have to replace my 2GB SD Card, and size and weight is the same as my current Jam.
JasJam has nice 3G and keyboard, but I don't like the Micro SD slot and mini USB for charging and headset. Plus, it will be expensive as all new phones are.
If I could, I would go for the new O2 Atom Exec, but then I have to import it to SA as we don't get it here in SA on mobile contracts. :-(
What would you take?
I'd take the the Jamin and OC it using the "Battery Status" plugin found in the Prophet forum.
Though I have to admit - the hermes looks nice...
