I installed Nevo on my 8125, and I couldnt find it in the add/remove progs via activesync, so I just deleted the program folders and short cuts. Now there is just a blank .exe in my programs folder on the ppc. How would i remove this? thanx.
In your file explorer go to windows\start menu\programs and you should see that shortcut and be able to delete it.
Thank you mechle for posting that, its really annoying to have icons that arent linked to anything cluttering up program folders and start menus!!!
I've uninstalled this program call "SiriusCE" on my TyTN, but the program icon is still in the "Programs". I can't seem to remove it, when I click on that icon, it shows some error. It seems like the program did not uninstall completely. Does anyone know how to remove it manually? Thanks!
Sometimes it helps to re-install and then uninstall.
If that doesn't work, try the manufacturer's website, sometimes they have FAQ sections which will help you.
Most probably it is just the icon (this is why it gives you an error when you click on it after all, what did you expect?). Why don't you delete it manually?
mikaljan ... NLS is probably correct. Using File Browser, go to \windows\Start Menu\Programs and tap&hold on the icon until the context menu pops up. Then select Delete and confirm. That should do it.
hey i instaled a program and i didnt like it so i wanted to uninstall it but its not in the unninstal list
so i just went to program files whit file explorer and deleted its folder.....but i still have the non working icon of that program in "All Programs" menu. how can i delete that?
\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
From there you can remove the link. Be aware that some remains of the program (probably registry keys and values) may still be on your phone after this.
Hi - I've recently installed some programs on my Diamond, some of which were not compatible, so I deleted the files for these from my Program Files folder in Internal Storage.
However, the icons for these deleted programs are still in the programs menu - how do I get rid of these icons?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Delete the shortcuts in the Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder.
With File Explorer go to the "Windows" Folder on the Main Storage (Not Internal Storage), then go to the "Start Menu" Folder and then the "Programs" Folder. The icons should be somewhere in there.
A very overdue THANKS to you two - I somehow managed to lose the link to this thread and couldn't find my post again. n00b uselessness, I'm afraid.
well if your dealing with just a shortcut, you could use a program called SK tools, under a category there is a function there on removing BAD Shortcuts...
or option two, you could do it manually, install a resco file explorer got to Windows/Start Menu/ Programs and choose the applicatiion shortcut you want to delete then tap it then delete...
Hope that helped you...
You can also remove it with ActiveSync, after your connected go to mobile device-windows mobile based device-windows-startmenu-programs.Here you can select the shortcut you want to delete.
I added a link to the Task Manager by copying the hidden TaskMgr.lnk file from the Windows folder to the Start Menu/Programs folder.
I then decided I wanted it in a different position and added another quick link to another position.
I then wanted to remove the first link, and attempted to do this using 'Remove Quick Links', however this does not work for the Task Manager (it does work for other links.)
I then tried deleting the TaskMgr.lnk file from the Programs folder, and then removing the Quick Link, this also did not work.
I would be grateful for any suggestions as to how to remove it.
Thank you.
May have to go into the registry:
"To remove some stubborn shortcuts which cannot be deleted, go to HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/Home and blank out the DispName, ExePath and IconPath in the relevant numbered folders to the shortcut you want to remove. Also change IsSet to 0."
Taken from the tweak thread at the top of this board. This is to remove extra links if you use the 4x4 tweak. I see no reason that it shouldn't work here though.
quantumandy,
Thank you so much for that. Doing that did not allow me to remove it, but I was able to select a different icon, which replaced it.
Thanks for your help.
