My Kingston 512M SD (toshiba OEM) seems not compatible with XDA2.
The writing speed is slow (compare to lexar), and the machine always can't read the data on the SD. Sometimes the data on the card became read only. However the card works perfectly on my digital cam and card read.
Anyone got a Toshiba or Kingston 512M SD can test for me?
I had the same problem w/ my new 512 Mb Kinston SD card too.
My solution was to re-format the SD card this way:
FAT
16K blocks
Don't use FAT32 as that slows things down IMHO.
YMMV

Thanks  .
It seems perform a lot better with FAT16 and 16K blocks.
I think there must a bug in the OS because O2 never test SD card above 256M.
I've got a viking 512MB SD card from www.ebuyer.co.uk and it works fine.
Can I check how it is formated?
If you got a card reader, I think you can check it in the windows.
Use the command prompt , type "chkdsk X:" (x = your card reader's drive letter) and you can see the block size and the file system of the card.
My O2 mini is currently working ok with a 1GB SD card. However when I try to use a 2GB SD card, it always pops up the message "Do you want to try to format this storage card to make it readable? This will permanently delete any files on the card. Yes. No."
After I go ahead and format it, it says "This storage card has been successfully formatted". But the card does not show up in File Explorer. Also on removal and re-insertion of the card it shows the Formatting message all over again and again. This card is a "MyFlash Turbo" Card purchased from Singapore and it works perfectly fine in my USB card reader. I've tried copying files onto the card using the card reader. When I load this card in my O2 mini it again pops up the formatting option. When I format it in the O2 and try to read it through the card reader, the windows OS now tells me that this card is not formatted.
I don't know what to make of this. Can any one give me a solution to make the card recognized by my O2 mini?
Best Regards
same problem here bought my card in singapore too... some people have reported it to work. Would appreciate if someone could figure it out.
Maybe it's a specific brand that does not work?

Well that's what I thought, but this card seems to work ok through the card reader so I can't figure out if it's card or the xda mini which is at fault ??? Meanwhile my xda mini accepts my other cards. Any one has any clues as to what might be the problem ?

Running a different frequency? I thought there was a SD compatible format, and that all SD card are made accordingly...
I had the same thing with my Sandisk Ultra 2GB. What I did was pair the device with my laptop and explor to the SD card via the explorer in Activesync. I then created a folder called Temp. After I did this, the file explorer and magician would see the card with no problems.
Hope it help

I have exactly the same problem with the MyFlash (AData) 2GB as well on my O2 Mini.
Swap 3 cards already (different batches) and all had the same problem.
I've experience problem copying files to it from my laptop as well. I used a USB2.0 SD reader/writer and copied a large 900MB file to it - got the following error after a while:
Windows Delayed write error. Path is too deep
My Explorer hangs from that point. Same thing happened for all 3 cards.
I'm staying away from this AData 2GB for now.
cheers,
Patrick

Has anyone successfully used Adata 150x 1gb sd with their MDA Compact?
Thanks.

I've had the same problem with this card on my JAM- simply does not recognise it at all (therefore cannot even try Mashie's method).
Tried it on my mate's XDA ii and it works straight away (ended up selling to him). What is it with these not supporting particular 2GB cards.
I think as a rule of thumb, those 2GB card which are 60x speed should work:
Sandisk - probably not the Extreme III
ATP 2GB
PNY 2GB
All of these are far more expensive than the Adata and others from the far east.

ADATA My Flash 1GB card doesn't work as well.
Have you tryed to format the card with your SD-Reader card? or best install Pocket Mechanic and try format with some other FAT options.
Good luck!
I bought an ADATA myflash MMCplus turbo 2GB 200x from us and it worked out of the box on my magician .109€.

The only obvious differences between this one the other ADATA one is that this one is MMC and a faster speed.
Still strange that it does work (or why this one works and not the others).
I have ordered yet another 2GB SD; will post to let you guys know if it works or not.
Hi all,
Does anybody know what is the size limit of the SD cards for the Qtek 9000 ?
Thanks
4 GB sd card
I don't know, but 4GB SD card work's fine for me.
Thanks very much timemaster !
4gb cards and over use fat32 which the universal can read fine. So there should be no problem up to about 128gbytes.
"Capacity limit in all SD/MMC formats appears to be 128 GB in LBA mode (28-bit sector address)."
Of course it depends on software applications being written well. Currently we only know of one applications that has problems. The camera application can't write to a 4gb card unless at least 2gb is already is full because some developer hardwired a 32 bit register variable for the 'memory full' check (32bit = 2gb).
Please look at/or add to the 4gb threads in the 'Universal Accesories' forum.

hi all;
I get a 4 gb sd card for my jamin, but I am not sure how could I get the best performance from this card? for now it does not seem faster thatn my 512 MB Kingston SD card so which cluster size and format settings should I use
Use the utillity Pocket Mechanic, it going to help you to perdormance your SD. The last version is 1.60 or the Pro version is 2.10.
Hello,
I bough a MicroSDHC 4 GB memory card for the prophet, but the only problem is It is not recognizing, some one told me that it is because of the file system of format, my 2 GB micro SD card have FAT format and 4 GB had FAT32 by default, so I reformated it in FAT and still I can't get it working, it's not regognizing.
Well, I saw a thread on web some where saying to download "driver" and install it on the non-supporting MicroSDHC device and it will start recognizing. Is it true?
Please help, if it is possible do tell me some decent way thanks.
FAISAL!!!!!!!
prophet doesnt support sdhc only recognizes sd.....their aint any driver support aswell
