Hello
I've done a couple of searches and read a lot of threads about messaging but can't seem to find what i'm looking for. If this is allready mentioned in another thread then call me a dumb nub
Is it possible to let my wizard save the sms messages to the storage card? I found out the hard way that they are not synced to outlook. All sms messages are gone after my rom-ugrade :?
thanx in advance for your overwhelming wisdom
not sure about saving to the storage card, but...
http://xpocketpc.fw.hu/smsbackup/
and
http://www.jeyo.com/extender.asp
might be worth taking a peek at
Great, i've installed the jeyo extender and it enables me to download the messages to a special sms foldergroup in outlook. (similar to folder layout on the phone)
So thanx a bunch for the tip.
But if anyone knows how to put the sms messages on storage card i still would be glad to hear about it.

Has anyone found a way of saving sms messages to their pc? for both viewing or creating? I have 100s in my inbox and would like to keep them, but not sure how to do it.
Any info would be gratefully appreciated
Mitch
There are some programs that apparently do this, such as SMSExport, though I've never got these to work.
The only way I've found to do it - though as the II has more memory I've not done anything with them in months now - is to use a db program such as dbExplorer to export them to a csv file. There are other posts that detail how you find the particular table the messages are in, there isn't one folder that applies across all devices.
Cheers

Try Jeyo Mobile Companion. Through your pc, you can view all your past sms, all incoming sms, and reply to them. You could back up all or some of your sms, and restore them later (if you want). You could choose to make the backups in text format.
And not only that ...
You can view your call history and make backup of those.
You can make screen caps of your ppc screen.
Hope this helps.
Try this one
Jeyo's Mobile Companion is fantastic, exactly what I've been looking for since the first XDA came out.
Finally resetting your device (which I think is a good idea once every 6 months or so) doesn't mean you have to lose all your text messages.
Cheers

Yes, I agree it is fantastic .... But it doesn't yet allow you to save SMS subfolders
After my Vario II gradually slowed to a halt and stopped receiving calls or sending text messages, I finally had to admit defeat and do a hard reset (not bad going though, I managed 4 months without hard resetting)
I am now going through the long process of getting everything back the way I like it (I stupidly didn't have a backup program installed!). I am sure I found a registry tweak to store, by default, all of my SMS text messages to my storage card and looking at the contents of my card, I do have a folder which seems to agree with this as it does look like it is full of my most recent SMS messages, but I can not, despite searching for a few hours, find the tweak to do this again.
Can anyone help? I have found something about temporary internet files but nothing about SMS/text messages.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I am just bumping this in the hopes that someone may be browsing who knows the answer .. I shall keep my fingers crossed. Thanks.
first post virgin
One I usually do when I want to preserve my SMS messages is use SPB backup, and select just the emails/messages to be backed up, this will back em up to the memory card as an exe.
when your happy with your new "build" on your phone simply run the exe and the messages are back.
Hope that helps?
Thanks for that Craig. I will give SPB Backup a go, it really would make sense for me to install a backup program, it would have made the recent hard reset less painful as far as reinstalling stuff was concerned
I am still interested in knowing where the registry entry is for the sms storage location because I would like to be able to access the various messages I appear to have on my storage card ... I can't for the life of me remember how I managed to change the location to get them on there in the first place, it was several months ago and I have't bothered to save the post/webpage I got the info from .. silly me!
Thanks
Check out Jeyo mobile extender for outlook, everytime you sync with your ppc via activesync and outlook it will back up your sms to outlook.
Not quite the same, but efficasoft Mobile express will allow you to send messages from your PC through a connector when the PPC is connected to active sync.
You can see your messages in the softwares in box, and export them to a text file thus backing them up but you cant import them back into the phone unfortunatly
Can someone post links of where i can get 8525 SMS downloads

Your question is confusing, are you wanting the sms program? Every rom I have tried so far has sms included. Maybe give a little more info on what your wanting and someone could point you in the right direction.
Confusing boog321 is an understatement ,more like a totally weird request, are you on about picture messages and being able to receive them or just receiving standard txt messages.
Or are you on about transferring your sms messages to your PC from your Wizard? If so use PPCPim Backup or use Jeyo Mobile Extender which will allow you to transfer the sms's to a folder in outlook.
As boog321 stated please clarify what it is exactly that you wish to do.
is there a way to save sms text messages to the memory ? or one individual message of a conversation thread ?
im interesting too
anyone know somethng?
Sorry, but I really don't get what you're asking.
Could you explain what you want and why you want it? All your texts are (obviously) stored on the phone, so why do you want any other storage?
i think he meant to export the smses
yes, sorry i wasnt very clear. i was getting fed up with sms's taking so long to load up that i thought id save (export) them somewhere and clear the memory to hopefully speed things up , anyway ive got the latest official sms fix and its speeded things up substantially.
im still interested in how you export sms's though so if i have some important info i want to save for a long time i can , ie transfer to mr external hard drive somehow ?? thanks in advance

I use Microsoft MyPhone to back up all the data on my phone each night, and if I go to the web interface and archive the text messages, it deletes them off my phone next time I sync. They're still safe in the online store, and can be un-archived at any time and therefore synced back to the phone again.

Do you have to pay for the service? I'm interested too. I want to cook the rom but i do not want to loose all the messages. is there another way to back them up???
Its free, unless you take up the extra services.

There is a NEW SMS update which resolves the SMS loading issue plus providing a few more enhancements. I have installed directly to phone and works and it should. I can now start replying to a message while the long conversation thread loads in the background.
thanks guys, yes i have the update and its much better, ill try the microsoft backup suggestion.
Hi guys,
I've searched the forum but couldn't find an answer so here goes...
In the HTC (SMS) messaging app (conversation mode) I am getting two entries for every person. Pressing either one, for the same person, brings up exactly the same messages. I've had a look in traditional mode and the messages themselves are not duplicated, neither are they when displayed in the Sense UI thingy!
I'm hoping this is just going to be some sort of database/text/xml file problem which if deleted will be re-built but things are never that simple!
I'd prefer an answer that doesn't involve a hard-reset as there are LOTS of text messages I'd rather keep (and again, the messages themselves are not duplicated, just their initial thread display entry in conversation mode)
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Check your contacts and see if they are not duplicated...
Have you used PIM backup? I get the problem when restoring messages from that?
Hi guys,
Thanks for your replies.
@DeadVirus: I've just checked my contacts and there are no duplicates on my phone and my SIM has no contacts on it.
@corny2007: I haven't used any kind of PIM backup software.
However, rather oddly, the problem has sort of fixed itself. By "sort of" I mean everything has returned to normal for all except one thread.Typically it's the one thread that probably gets used more than any other (you guessed it... its for a woman! ) and its probably the one that I least want to lose texts from!
I'm wondering if this is being caused by duplicate texts on the phone and SIM. Is there any software that allows the deleting of text messages on a SIM?
Once again, thanks for your help, any further assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, so I've found a "fix" for the one remaining duplicated thread: Delete all the messages and then undelete them one-by-one (which is no small task, given there is probably about 200 messages!).
Anyways, its fixed now. Thanks guys for your help.
