Phoned Orange today & they don't even have the Wizard in the pipeline.
Bought an O2 XDA Mini S thought I'd try unlocking it to work on Orange (ONLY Orange works in my Business Unit).
Expected to be searching/asking this Forum for help; was SHOCKED when I simply plugged in my Orange SIM & it worked!
All O2 contract phones are unlocked. They've been like this for quite some time.

Not true! My P800 was unlocked, and I was told that was the case, but my Blue Angel (XDA2s) only worked on 02 without unlocking.

I stand corrected then. Although, IME, any phone I've had from them over the past few years has been unlocked as have those of my friends who are on O2.

Yeah, same here. 02 are usually excellent with not filling phones with crap software and leaving them unlocked, which is why I was so amazed with the Blue Angel!
tried my uk o2 xda mini s on vergin, works fine.
O2 is amazing,my first 6630 and N70 was no simlock as well as my later XDA EXEC.Besides, they provide free GPRS...that's invaluable...

After waiting for 2 weeks for delivery of an XDA II (Insurance claim) I emailed the company I brought it from! And to my Suprise and Delight they sent me this
Dear Mr Collins
Thank you for your e-mail.
I apologise for the delay in despatching your O2 XDAII, however we have had stock issues with this handset and now they have been discontinued and we will not be getting any more in again. However next week we are expecting to recieve the XDAIIS handsets, which we will be able to send to you asap. I anticipate delivery will be for mid to end of next week.

Both that I have got from O2 (1 from a shop, and 1 online) were not sim locked. They may well lock them in the future though.

I thought mine was SIM unlocked. Heck everything seems unlocked and I got it from the O2 e store. Any quick way to tell if I'm SIM locked? :?
Put in a non-o2 sim and see if you can connect to the network. If so, you are unlocked and ready to rock.
If not, your device is locked and you'll need the tools from this site to sort that out

O2 supply all Contract phones unlocked now, think they realised there was no point in locking the phones as you are tied into a 12-18month contract anyway
Anybody got their Blackstone from them?
I heard they have them on stock and they are quiet reliable.
Question is can anybody tell me something about their insurance (Citymain) and does phones come unlocked?
I got mine through them on orange, its orange branded so I guess it orange locked. How do I tell short of getting an non orange sim? Can't tell you much about the insurance mines through my bank.
got mine from them today, quick transaction
Yep, got mine thru them after an ordeal with mobiles.co.uk
Ordered it on the friday and got it sat at 7.30am lol

Glad to hear that some are having some joy in getting their HD's.
Can either of you confirm whether they are Orange branded and or locked to orange.
Also, do they have orange specific software alterations.
Richard
I've had 4 mobile phone contracts off these guys I think they're great. Never had a problem with getting the free gift etc. They never did the Touch HD on O2 when i wanted one though so i had to go to mobiles.co.uk
so you're saying that orange phones come locked and branded - damn
what about their customer service?
O2 PAYG back on website, but it's gone up to £480!!!!
so glad I brought mine when it first came out

Hi
I've just received one of the Razr I phones on offer from Three UK for £149 + £10 topup ordered online. People might like to know that the phone I received is an unbranded UK Retail model with 4.1.2 and UNLOCKED. I've tried it with Virgin, T-Mobile & Tesco SIMs and it works fine. Very pleased so far.
Cheers - Andy
Yea problem is you cant unlock the bootloaders try it yourself so no modding.

Yep, aware of that. Should have made clear that I meant it was not SIM locked. Modding always seems to bring me grief so I'm quite happy to keep it standard as a reliable phone/internet browser/navigation device. :fingers-crossed:
Cheers Andy

Hi,
are you totally sure that ALL of the Three PAYG Motorola Razr i-s can NOT be unlocked considering their bootloader? Why?
I plan to purchase one, but I knew nothing about this... Would I miss anything important if it remains locked?

Which thread? Can you give the link of the thread that confirms this, please?
I've only found one mostly with older posts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32576654 I think this not the one you mentioned.
I have just unlocked my locked bootloader, having bought the phone like the op from 3.
The fault with generating the unlock code was with Moto.
Now mine is unlocked, rooted and CWM installed.

Yes, I can see how this grow into rumour, this is the aforementioned thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377175

By the way: can everybody confirm that the 'Razr i' purchased from Three is SIM-Unlocked (without their official unlocking process)?
That would be great help if I could be sure

Yep, I received mine yesterday and the label on the Box and About Phone page shows it to be a normal UK Retail version and mine definitely wasn't SIM locked as in OP. I'm currently using a Tesco (O2) PAYG SIM to use remaining credit before porting to 3. I've also tested with T-Mobile & Virgin and it works fine.
Cheers - Andy
Thanks for the details Andy!
Can anyone else confirm?

Thanks guys for the helpful (and fortunately positive) replies. Now I'm brave enough to turn the question by 180°:
is there anybody, whose device that has been bought from Three (especially Pay As You Go) was SIM-locked?
(I hope the thread's intensity becomes weaker).
funny enough yes. i bought one for my mrs today and after commenting only a few hours ago i thought i should try. so i put a giffgaff sim in it and it asked for unlock code??????
so i tryed with a EE sim and asked same again.
then i put the 3 sim back in got it all set up with google sync and apps etc and tryed again wigh sims and hey presto it worked????????
whats that all about?

I must've missed out on that as they're showing as £249.99 now. Shame really as I'm thinking about moving from GG to Three.
Instead I've picked up one from the Orange ebay store (£169.99 with £20 credit included). Seems like unlock codes can be picked up cheaply enough too - here's hoping the Orange branding isn't overboard.

Hi, I had to do the same, because my UK contact was late by one day (she could go for the phone on 1st Aug 2013, offer ended at 31st July...), so I've ordered from Play.com with free Pillips BT speaker (http://www.play.com/stores/ChitterChatter/listing/828995144). +10Ł & Locked, but still satisfactory offer. When do you get yours? I've never thought of Orange branding... can it be disturbing?
And from where do you buy trustworthy unlock code? I'll need sth like that, too!
I bought mine from the "official" Orange UK eBay store - which is run by ChitterChatter, the same company in your play.com link. I'm hoping it gets delivered at some point this week.
There's quite a few sellers advertising an XT890 unlock on ebay for less than £10, so it seems pretty straight forward to get the handset unlocked.
Looking into people who bought the RAZR i last time Orange sold them for this price, the handsets themselves don't have any Orange branding. Usually, Orange really go over the top with their branding so it's nice to know these won't have that problem.
Three raised there price to £249.99 a day after I bought mine for £149.99 :') guess I was lucku

It took about 18 hours to receive and it worked first time
