i have played around with Memmaid: There is the possibility to kill some running processes. I have killed the process srvtrust which speeds up the Wizard.
I have searched the Wizards registry and have found an entry in HKLM/init/launch80=srvtrust.exe
I am about to delete this entry since i have really the feeling that the device is speed up through the killing of the process.
Does anybody knows for what this service is good for?
hi,
i ve find this information :
srvtrust.exe - security certificate stuff, not sure if its required
here : http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache...id=1645+srvtrust.exe&hl=fr&gl=fr&ct=clnk&cd=2
It speed up at start or all the long of the use?
I tried and could not install new programs because of failing certificate. This process is maybe checking these certificates and therefore necessary ...
thanks it works fine ... and speed up my qtek
Just be sure to use cabinstall for next installation
hey man nice job , I have disabled that by adding a `- `to end of registry string same as ......exe- and restart .
really it speeds up at starting programms , but before installing new software should make it enable .
Thanx
PS. Actually it is anti virus-like application ,no need run in all time .

hello there
i removed practically everything that i could remove from the ram , as well as the extended rom , i also removed memory indicators from today screen, and disabled error reporting.
i noticed A LOT of useless stuff in the windows folder , unremovable offcourse , (like a 4mb lost in 2 themes files ) .
also i noticed that u cannot reallocate ram (storage/program) memory through the elegent slider that was there before.
yet the major crisis in this device is the lack of a backup utility ... I desperatly need help about this , i couldnt find any third party software to backup system.
Is there any way to enable removing of unnecessary files in windows folder :?:
Device is still crowling ... PLease help ...

I'm sure I am just missing them, but where are the hacks you mention that address speed on the Wiki? I am familiar with, and have used several of the ones there (i.e. MS Voice Command via Bluetooth Headset).
I'm just not seeing anything addressing the disappointngly slow speed of my Qtek 9000.
The Universal will never run as fast as you'd expect a 520Mhz device to run as the flash memory limits the speed (and the screen rendering will also slow down the device). You know my old Gateway PC from 1996 (200Mhz and 64MB RAM) was very impressive compared to my Universal when you look at the Universal's hardware!
upgrade to the beta release from imate, its fast
wiki registry backs to the menus etc will speed it up, better memory storage etc
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry
a bit old but
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=31697
If speed is your beef, go the upgrade, its beta, but faster
still
i did the upgradde , and did not install the customizations , applied all the hacks , and it s still slow :x , the change was too little to b noticed ...
my goodness , what to do ... ?
p.S: what is the flash memory ???
there is no way it can be slow after that upgrade
everybody says its way fast, not just me
what extra software are you running? Was it slow prior to additional software?
SPB?
I find Jasjar slow too. Especially coming from XDA O2 IIi, it's much faster IMO. I considered myself to be very fast with PDA. But now, I have to wait for a few second before I could proceed to the next task.
Hi Guys,
I've been lucky enough to get hold of a HTC 630 (or Cavalier i think its code named).
At present I want to utilise the Wifi as much as possible and have been hunting around for suitable Wifi programmes.
Wifi Fofum on aspecto looks a very good product. Can anyone give feedback on the software and its reliability? i.e. Can I expect regular crashes or loss of data etc etc.
Any feedback / suggestions will be greatly received as info on this device is pretty non-existant.
Many thanks.
Wififofum is good I use it quite often though on an HTC TyTn. Problem is that although it shows you either a list of networks around you or a nice radar screen - it is a bit limited beyond that. It's free and runs smoothly though. Another free one is Hitchhiker and this provides you with a chance to connect to networks/hotspots etc. Also takes some of the hassle out of setting up the connection. It's also free. It does need the .net framwork 2 installed but their site has a link to install that as well:
http://www.kasuei.com/hitchhiker/
And for a variety of the more serious network tools I recommend the Cambridge Computer Corporation - e.g. Vxipconfig

Trouble downloading
Hi Mike,
You helped with a query on wifi and pointed me in the direction of hitchhiker whick looks excellent. However I can't get it to download. The installer goes on my PC fine but I can't do anything with the CAB files.
Am I right just going straight for ver 0.4 and none of the prev versions? I don't know if I'm doing it right by downloading the installer first.
My active sync tells me that the installer is primed to be transferred on next connection, and it does. Buts thats about as far as I get. The icon appears on the 630 but no data must be in there.
SOS!
Cheers

Does Hitchhiker get listed in your programmes? And if sowhat happens when you open it?
With cab files you transfer them unopened/unextracted to your device and open them on the device.

Hi Mike,
Sorry for the delay in replying. the error message I get is as below. At present i've got windows mobile centre on vista home prem. The PC picks up on everything on the device and lets me just copy and paste the file over but the following message appears:

hitchhiker download problem
hiya
yeah thats what ive been doing. cutting and pasting it straight onto the device after saving the cab to my docs on the pc. i've been saving it straight to the mem card and trying to open it in file manager.
just the same as games and stuff i've downloaded and they are fine, playing no probs.
The error message above is whats displayed on the device when i try and open it. i'm sure ive got the correct ver of the net framework on the device.
Any suggestions?

Can't fathom out the problem. Some suggestions for what they are worth:
The Hitchiker site has different versions available - could try uninstalling and try another one.
The Hitchhiker site has a .netframework checker on a link near top of page - could install checker to ensure you have correct version.
Failing this you might need to contact Kasuei with the error message you get and see if they can help.

Hello,
I'd like to introduce small tool which I designed for Wizard overlocking.
It is used for changing Wizard processor speed directly from PC via ActiveSync connection. It uses great OmapClock.exe for overlocking.
With this tool it is possible to change speed permanently and temporally.
Permanently means, that after SoftReset processor speed will be still overlocked,
Temporally means, that after SoftReset processor speed will be restored to default 195[MHz] - useful while testing high speeds
In both cases return from suspend mode keeps new (overlocked) speed.
link: http://www.mdsoft.pl/wizardautoclock/wizardautoclock.exe
Exe file contains all required tools (OmapClock.exe).
Originally tool was designed in polish, so sorry for eventually mistakes in translation
I hope it can be useful for You
Over clocking mda
Hi,
How do I know, this tool really worked.. I did a device info.. still i see the clock speed as 195mhz even after installing and fine tunning.
Hi
I tryed to install on my HTC S710 / WM6 but get a error message "Cannot read Programs Folder!".
Whats wrong?
A smartphone cannot run unsigned application unless changing security policy.

Are you not re-inventing the wheel ? Battery Status does exactly the same thing whithout the need for a PC plus it is a standard inclusion on most of the cooked ROM's.

Come on now, how can using software to speed up the processor change the wording in device info? This is done by the mfg. The mfg. doesn't know if you're going to speed up your processor, only your device knows. The only way to tell if it's working is if you notice a change in the performance of your device like faster operation of the device. You can also tweak the registry for faster operation.

What was being installed when you got this message? Where was it being installed to?
Overclocking And Battery Status
Batt status has application overclocking which is great.
Phone and Camera need to stay at 195mhz. Over clocking overall system could eventually lead to some problems like glitches and being unstable resorting to frequent soft resets....
Hi,
I am trying to write a small application for my WM6 phone device.
What I intend to do is :
- write the application in c#
- it will be a background application (daemon)
- starting to blink leds of my phone (I have a dll which I know how to call from within a C# app)
- stopping this process when the call is answered or the ringing state is passed
- no forms will be used (as it will be a background application which will only play with leds)
- when the exe is called a second time , it should disable itself
Unfortunately, I could not succeed a few months ago as seen here :
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2454023&SiteID=1
Then , I had some other issues to deal with and left the project. Now I want to start over, fresh...
However, I am not sure of what is the most acceptable solution for this.
As I do not want to load the CPU or memory with unneccessary processes, I want to be able to do it correctly.
Could someone show me the path ?
Please take a look at the thread that I gave the URL above. At that time we discussed this but I couldn't achieve it.
Thanks for any help, comments...
SystemState class seems to only work if you have a form based application. Which is silly I know. Basically the only solution is do dump the daemon idea and have a form based app but hide the form.
thanks for your reply.
what do you mean by "dump the daemon idea" ? do you mean I shouldn't use it ?
if I create a form based app and hide the form, which method should I use to start the process when phone starts ringing ?
p.s : english is not my native language so I may misunderstand some phrases.
yes he means forget the daemon..and i recommend using C++ as it uses less system resources plus its fast .. im currently developing my first Kitchen in C++ if u want i can work with you also
I agree with you; of course c++ is faster but it's not as easy as c#.
what do you mean by kitchen ?
I would like to work with you but my intention is just creating a simple application. This is not my job, you see ?
A kitchen is a place where you can cook your OWN ROM for your Windows Mobile Device..currently its for Himalaya Only ..check it out here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378498
for me its not a JOB also its just my hobby ..im also a student in 12th grade
thanks for your kind offer. however, I wouldn't like to take your time for my very simple application
If you tell me the correct and easiest method to invoke my application and start its process, I can write the application. I'd just consult you if I'm stuck.
If you are also interested in this app. I can always send you the source code.
sure sure..send me the source....i am not doing much at the moment any way..except for re-writing the tools in C++..i have another useful suggestion..u can use MortScript to this but then it will be different
if you pm me your email address , I can send you the current source code.
But I am not sure if what I wrote is the best way of doing it.
by "best" I mean least cpu power used.
ather90,
did you receive my email ?
yeah i got the source..but there is a problem..you have built this on WM6 Pro SDK..not on WM5..i dnt have WM6 SDK..so i couldnt work yet..but will download it today..its better if you can switch it to WM5 SDK ( it will be same for WM6/6.1 i guess).
I don't know how to convert it to WM5 SDK.
If you tell me I can switch...
NO probs..the SDK is almost downloaded..i figured i might as well download the SDK caz i will need later
ok; waiting for your update...
any updates ?
This project is about rebuilding the touch.dll coude from the original dll assembly.
Latest package:
touch.cab
For adding the "developers certificate" ( read side node on update 21/11/08 ) you can use the following tool:
Microsoft Security Configuration Manager
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 21/11/08:
Ive finally managed to rebuild the touch.dll from assembly and recompiled it and im able to boot the new touch.dll
Ive cleared some of the calls made to some old features implemented in the original file like the touch cube etc.
Be aware that this isnt for daily use and only for testing purposes. But I really need some input on speed and reliability because i cant test everything on my own ( i flash my device every 4 hours or so so not really long testing times ). If you are not affraid of hard resetting your device and are willing to participate in testing current work please do but dont keep me responsible for freezes etc
I have only tested it on udk R4 because its easy for me to test speed on manilla 2d and it gives me a good impression of daily usability. And because i removed almost all calls to the original cube code it wont be any good for cube lovers as and original HTC roms.
Keep in mind that all ive done now has been done during work in a few hours and although ive tried to be on the safe side i cant tell you all is working as its suppose to and I think i havent done more then remove about 20% of garbage out of it.
I know not all is as fast as its supposed to be but like i said im better safe then sorry and i dont wanna hardreset every 2 mins or so... Some good testing can be done in Manila2d like scrolling through images fast and scrolling through the bottom bar. Also ive noticed that scrolling through the normal "All programs" is still on the slow side ( still need to resolve a lot of scrolling issues... HTC has included a lot of codes for all sorts of winmo controls like listviews etc ) but if you open up the all programs in manila from the programs menu u will see what kind of speed it can work at minimum....
As for the priorities mentioned earlier in this thread im going to set both the priority256 and the priorityhigh256 at 109 ( original microsoft value that can be found at msdn ) in the cab file so we can test the touch interface as it was suppose to be set up... you can easily change these values as you like ( read earlier posts ). Setting it lower then 109 will give it an higher priority which will make the device suffer more from touch input... Setting it higher ( upto 255 ) will give the touch input less priority and will make rendering faster but can also come of the cost of reliability.
Side node:
Make sure your rom has the "Sample Privileged Developer" Certificate installed because i signed both the file as the cab with this certificate ( files need to be signed because of being system file and they dont get any trust at boot without a certificate ).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Start 15/11/08:
Ok so because i didnt had much to do this week i started digging into the touch.dll to see if there can be some solutions to the slow scrolling/stuttering etc when touching the screen.
I already found out that the graphics stuttering mostly happens due to the fact that the touch.dll is set to real-time process priority.
WinMo uses priority values from 255 (low) to 0 (real-time).. Normally touch should be set at 109 ( according to msdn ), but because htc put so much garbage in it ( touchflo related ) and it got slow as #@% they put the priority to 0 as a default and deleted the registry entries
Using IDA i found out that those registry values are still being accessed but since they are not there the default of 0 is used.
Just create the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Touch
And create the following values in it
Name value (DWORD)
Priority256 255
HighPriority256 255
This will not speed up the actual scrolling but it will also not make the device freeze when pressing the screen... So scrolling seems more natural. ( especially in programs folder and file explorer )
So this is not a fix but a good start for now.
Already found out a few things looking at the code that can be dropped out so im going to try to rebuild the touch.dll from asm without most time expensive calls ( hopefully shrike will help me out on this one ).
Let me be the first to say thank you. I am not sure I did the things right, but my Polaris seems more alive than ever. I will post an exported regkey, please confirm that I've done it correctlly.
I have noticed an improvement in sliding in S2U2 and on everything that involves touching the screen. This indeed is a great step forward for Polaris.
Thanks for trying... As soon as development will progress ill create a cab file which will include the registry keys.
Big difference... great job,
I've noticed though that in icontact, when you scroll contacts, the animation has to finish so that it can accept new gesture, so i set it to 109, scrolling is still good and icontact work propertly..
Great find Rogro! Was irritating me how the graphic stutters whenever I scroll in programs and phonebook..
Just wondering though, if it was such a simple fix, why did they remove the reg key to begin with? as far as i can see, the impact on the processor speed seems really minimal..
I look forward to more of your discoveries..
Nice job! Performance is much better... but in the all programs list the icons all still flashing when scrolling, although its much less.
Thank you
Great job in all programme speed seems little better.
nice
thanx
Hey Rog,
Nice to see you're trying different things.
I looked at my HD but it didn't have the slowdown the Polaris has. But it also doesn't have the registry keys... so i added them and soft reset. Now, my HD's TFLO3D is really unresponsive and stutters... So maybe it's only for non-TF3D devices?
Thank's
It's working well in my M-Amine 2.0 Final Rom.
Here is the little Cab.
EDIT: If you install this cab or change the register by hand (Is the same) , the scrolling work well but maybe you will have problems with Igo, TomTom or destinator.
Please take that in your mind.
Thanks a lot Rogro!! It's wonderful for every application that uses touch scrolling.
Why do HTC engineers leave us alone with those awful bugs? Is it so difficult to add those 2 DWORD values?
Actually it fixes the screen response AND the All Programs scrolling in Manilla 2D
thanks for sharing rogro82.
cheers
Thanks rogro82.
It's working
BTW i've notice something,,maybe wrong.
When you scroll (very fast) in file explorer or program folder, stoping it(the scrolling) with a sigle tap it's not so easy. Or when you tap to stoping it ,then turning to another direction(up or down).
Also the icontact scrolling isn't good enough.
I use the "cbolumar" cab.

Thats because the scrolling is still way off in terms of speed... the only thing that happens when you change the registry settings is that it will not allow touch.dll to eat all resources and hang all other processes..
Maybe you could try to set it to 109 ( what it should be on a normal driver )..
I never use any gestures or whatever so setting it to 255 works for me for now until i can start cleaning code.
TomTom7 with these settings
Nice find. But in Tomtom7 something strange happens. I have to press the screen much harder then without these reg keys. I Use M-Amine's RTM rom.
Anyone else have this or is it just me having this bug?

Bug with IGO 8
The same for me , i have a lot of problems with the screen in Igo , the problem disappear after delete the register changes.
To delete this, you must go to the register and delete the new values by hand, not the touch entry but the priority entries.
Only uninstalling the cab is not valid because the driver is in use.
Thanks a lot!
It's like early Christmas!
It´s because of people like you that my Polaris is an increasingly awesome machine. Continuing like this in the near future it will teleport me from one place to the other!
Keep up the good work.
Don't ever leave us Rogro!
TT6 don't work
The screen is no usable.
I have delete all the key and now work well
