Hi there!
Is there any chance to lock the WIFI-settings on a Windows Mobile 05 device (e.g. XDA mini S) to prevent a user from tampering with these settings? (at leat until the next hard reset)
Thanx in advance

XDA II doing a Hard Reset

Hi,
I got my XDA II yesterday and installed a few 3rd party apps, one of which being Calendar+ which allows you to specify how many days appointments you want showing in the today screen. A couple of times when I tried to alter a couple of the options in Calendar+ the machine crashed and did a hard boot which meant I lost all my data.
At least I am presuming this is what caused the machine to do this.
Anyone else had problems with Pocket PC 2002 software causing WM2003 to crash ?
Steve
Upgraded to a newer version of Calendar+ and the problem hasnt reoccured.

D9 by PocketGamer on XDA II works?

I tried to install it on my newly arrived XDA II, with no success, although I downloaded PPC 2003 eVB.
Anybody knows if it works with XDA II or any software substitute? It was my favorite with XDA I.
THX,
Gear
I tried it on XDA II with MS Visual Basic runtime and it works.
You may also want to try:

OR

Thanks Cairo31male. I installed eVB (for PPC 2003) first and then installed it, without overwriting the newer files. It does not work on my unit!
Any trick?

Havent tried D9 in XDAII but Finger Clix is better since it searches both first and last names.
I could not get Phone Plus to work - it seems they will bring out a version for the XDA II / WM2003
Phone Plus did work once I installed eVB
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/developer/evb.mspx
Like D9, it searches within the first name; is a bit slower than Finger Clix but unlike Finger Clix, it gives a phone type interface and numbers can be dialed directly as well
For some reason it silenced the keypad sound in the default phone application (and in Finger Clix too? I am not sure if it had this to begin with). Once Phone Plus and eVB are removed, the phone keys regain their nice soft beep when pressed.
Hope this helps.
Anyone using Finger Clix ? Please tell me if pressing keys gives a soft beep since I seem to think I have lost this while trying the above experiment.

[Android] Lock down user interface ?

Hello all,
I have been tasked to look into possible lock down of user interface for Android phones. Previously, we built custom mobile application for Windows Mobile and used SPB Kiosk Engine to perform lock down so that users can only run our application on windows mobile devices.
I would like to find out whether it is possible to perform similar lock down on Android Phones (limiting the functionalities) and start up with just our custom built android application. It would be best if there are existing lock down applications which can do this (similar to SPB Kiosk engine). If not, the only way would be to compile custom firmware ?
Hope anyone who has ideas of this topic can shed some light.
Thanks in advance!

Hello all,
did some research on the web and didn't manage to find anything regarding lock down on Android mobile phones. Any comments on whether this can be done at firmware level (e.g. compile custom Android firmware) ?
Thanks,
Zell

Hy and welcome to our forum,
what do you mean with lock down??? I cant follow you!
Greatz

Hello Mccoffein,
Lock down would mean to restrict the functionalities. E.g. we only want the Android mobile phone to run our program on start up and cannot access any other functions.
Other examples on PC will be windows based Internet Kiosks, which only allows users to surf Internet net, but does not expose other functionalities of Windows.
Cheers,
Zell

Register Windows Logo button with another program???

Hi,
is there a way on Windows Mobile 6.5, 6.5.x and WMD, to map the windows logo button (not the hardware key of a device) to another program than honeycomb start nenu??? I have a little program that is named "Folderview" (it seems to be from HTC) that will show up the start menu with big icons like there it is in Windows Mobile 6.x Smartphone Edition.
The background for my question is that i own a PDA E-Ten Glofiish M800 that has only 64 megs of RAM (total free ram after strat is only around 20 megs with honeycomb) and that's too small for using GPS functions with navigation software like igo 8. I tried the tool "Quickmenu" but i don't like it because i do not want to have a start menu like in verisons of Windows Mobile prior 6.5.
Thanks

[Q] Samsung - Choose connection (USB or ActiveSync)

Hi all!
I need of a usefull application that I was used to use on my old Touch Pro (now I've a Samsung Omnia Pro).
When I connect the usb cable on the Touch Pro a small menu appears and you can choose if you want to you your device like an USB-Drive, with ActiveSync or Internet Connection.
I don't have the same on Samsung!
Is there a way to have the same feature?
Thank you so much!
Yes there is. It just doesn't show up automatically (or at least should be since all other Omnia models seem to have it). You can find it in the "Settings Menu>Connections>USB Connection" (more or less... my system is 6.1 and in Portuguese so it may be a bit different).
As a sidenote there is a tiny opensource app here (dci710usb). Been lookin for ages for a dev willing to implement cmd funtions to this app (so I could integrate it with Mortscript without using the GUI)...
