Does the XDA-EXEC and Sony Erikson HCB-300 Work Together? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Has anyone any experience of getting the HCB-300 BT Car Kit to work with the XDA-Exec? I have the XDA2i at the moment and am considering upgrading, but I spent quite a lot of money getting the HCB-300 installed in my car and hate the idea of having to (clam) shell out for another car kit.
I know that the two units use different BT stacks - is this just a software issue or is it a BT chipset issue? can the BT stack be changed? Is it me or should I not have to ask this damn question everytime I want to change a BT device?
Cheers

Advise on Headsets

it's highly possible that this topic i'm posting has been discussed before and i do apologize in advance for bringing it up. but i do need some tips...
i need advise on which bluetooth headset to buy. i'm presently using jabra but i'm starting to get annoyed with the bonding-rebonding issues. if you noticed; once you shut down the headset (for charging or otherwise) or the bluetooth profile in the xda you have to go through the process of rebonding. the same holds when you use activesync; the bonding is lost.
with that; i'm in the process of buying a new headset and i'm after one that doesn't have the rebonding issues; regardless if you turn it off or activesync or whatever. did some research and so far have come across the following headsets. anyone using any of them; could you please give me some feedback if these indeed work properly with the xda2 AND does not have any rebonding issues. the present rom upgrades doesn't seem to address this issue...not that i'm not ungrateful or anything ..
bluetrek
plantronics
sony-ericsson hbh
c-tech
02 headset
motorola
nokia
sorry; don't have the model numbers; any feedback would be appreciated and if you have other headsets in mind do let me know.
cheers mates

Hi Robson,
I've had a Blutrek G2 BT headset for about 3 weeks now without any problems at all. I can't really compare it to any of the other headsets as it is the first one I have owned. The main reason I got it was the fact that it was very cheap (£38) and that its supposed to be the lightest headset you can buy. It looks pretty smart too!
As for battery life, I've charged it once since I'va had it (excluding initial out-of-box charge).
Thats my recommendation, mate
Oops, that price should have read £38.
hey munkee,
thanks, and to be honest i was considering bluetrek because it does indeed look smart. have a mate who can get one for me and i just needed some more info on it. did some web browsing and it looks to be tops. like i said i use jabra; quality is good but the bonding issue is starting to be a pain in the arse.
cheers then
robson

Is there a decent BT stack for the PPC anywhere?

Hello:
Finally fed up of the lack of BT functionality I am trying to get a decent BT stack for the XDA. I have the widcomm stack crack and it's not to bad but keeps popping erorr messages about initialisation. and it gets irritating.
When I search the internet there seems to be a reasonable amount of BT software out there , one such it BlueSoleil for PC and PPC (BlueCE). But as with widcoom they don't seem to want to sell it. It is for OEM's only. this seems to be the pattern emerging throughout.
I'm not sure why none of the developers will sell their software, seems ridiculous that the market is in place and no-one is willing to supply, It really shouldn't be this difficult.
Is there any BT software out there, in particular for the PPC which can be downloaded, does anyone have BlueCE by IVT which can be installed? Or any other decent BT stack for the PPC, I don't mind paying for the software if I can find it somewhere to buy.
Any ideas most welcome.

Hi Terran,
Out of interest, which BT car kit have you got? I've got to replace two Nokia kits now we've got the 9100's. I've looked at the parrot kits, but am using voice commander and would like a kit that works as well as my Scala bt headset.

The Parrot CK3000 - Had it since it came out and never looked back. Used to cost me ( cos no company even my current one which expects me to travel has ever give me a car kit ) a fortune before BT having to upgrade to specific kits... and they where a pain to install.
Parrot - Can't fault em - but my only tip is buy the upgrade cables... I've upgraded mine several times and it has helped depending on the issue.... for example..
I've not upgraded it this time how ever the other half found the quality of sound from me ( ie in the car ) better than with my T610...
Hope that helps - PS if you want GPS some of the higer models have it built in.
Terran
PPS Any one with a basic under standing of plug socket a in to socket b can do the install in about 10 mins or so.... the worst part is getting the radio out.
Thanks for the reply Terran.
My only concern (aside from the Parrot compatibility, which you've cleared) is that with two 6310i's, if my personal phone rang, I could ping the work one out of the kit and plug in my own within a couple of seconds. I can't find a way to disconnect the 9100 from my BT headset (which operated in hands-free mode too).I asked here, and after 70 views, there have been no replies... I don't know if there's a quick way on the Parrot kit, and if so, how fast I could "connect" the other handset, or, if I'd have to have two kits, one for each phone...

Never tried but my Parrots update is supposed to support up to 3 handsets... you can set which one gets priority...
I think they have a forum so may be its worth having a chat with em.

If you have a CK3000 then this thred ( especially post #20 ) is worth noting...

Dear Sir,
Thanks for visiting our forum.
Concerning your request, with the K750and W800 it's not possble to use the phone's voice recognition system
with the CK3000. This issue to the phone software and unfortunately only Sony Ericssson can make some improvments
on it.
However with the CK3000 evolution, you have the possibility to send contacts from the mobile phone to the car kit.
Thanks to this function, you can use the car kit voice recognition system and no more the phone voice recognition system : we are no more depend on the mobile phone. The knob of the evolution's remote control allows you to select this function by spoken menus. It's the same way like for the CK3100 however instead of a graphic indications you have voice prompts. This function was not possible with with the CK3000.
To change your CK3000 into a CK3000 evolution. You just need to change the car kit software and to change the buttons.
However the software update have to be done using a Parrot Serial cable or by Bluetooth using a Parrot Flash Kit.
That's why we ask to send us the unit.
If you have the buttons and a way to make the update , the transformation into a CK3000 evolution is possible.
However for technical reasons, please send us before an email to our technical support : [email protected] .
Some situations can cause bad issues and it will be wise to check with us if the transformation is possible.
Please note : Before to make the software update, please erase the car kit memory. You just need to press the green and red button of the car kit at the same time: you will hear MEMORY ERASING PLEASE WAIT and then your can release the buttons. Once you hear PLEASE PAIR DEVICE, the car kit is OK for the update.
Best Regards

In other words if you have the flash kit ( which I do ) all you need to do is upgrade the buttons for £18 and flash the ROM and you have a new upto date Carkit...

Bluetooth pairing problems on Infiniti/Nissan

Has anyone had any problems pairing their X1 with any Nissan or Inifniti cars? There seem to be some mumblings on the web about their cars and WM6 devices and I've had no luck getting it to work on my '08 G35. Thanks.
bluetooth pairing
i just checked the aproved phone list for your g35 and the x1 is not aproved by infiniti. only certain phones will link to our cars others will not
I have an 08 G35 and have no prob. pairing it with my car. How are you pairing this up with the car?
it also depend if you both have navagation or not

I don't have the navigation so I just click the phone button, tell it I want to pair a new device, and have my X1 start searching. At least now I know it can be done. Thanks for the reply
Well... I do have the navigation. So maybe the pairing process is a little different. But it should work though, it even allows me to download the whole phonebook into the car. Something my other phones in the past did not allow me.

Managed to solve this now.
Of course both Merc & SE didn't have any good solutions.... so had to continue googling & XDA-ing... This is what I did:
i.) Jetware, as I posted earlier has been removed.
ii.) I still had the SAP Profile addition downloaded from one of the forums in XDA on.
iii.) Change Registry setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Sys\COD
the default is 5898764 (Decimal) which is "Telephone (Smartphone)" which you would think would work. Changed to 5374476 (Decimal) which is a normal phone.
iv.) Restarted the phone.
v.) Started the pairing process from the car - failed as per before.
vi.) Started the pairing from the phone, and they work!!
Now, they pair automatically as how they would before....

this is how i got mine working with my pioneer deck.
here's the link to the SAP Profile he was talking about.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=997872&postcount=166
hope this works for you.
which PIoneer do you have?
I have the DEH-P5900IB and a BT adapter, and i can't get my X1 connect.
All my previous phones worked fine.
it looks like the X1 won't let me pair without passcode, and the radio says Error.
Do you mind explaining exactly how you did it?
Thanks
i have the DEH-790BT.
what i did was after i changed what i mentioned above, then i set my deck to be able to be noticed by other bluetooth devices, then added it through my X1. After I added it through my phone it said successfully connected on my deck and the phone displayed it connected as wireless stereo and hands free. now the only weird thing was it was trying to connect as both the wireless stereo and hands free which seemed to mess with the deck, so I had to turn off my ignition and turn my car back on for it to actually recognize the connection fully. oh and the passcode if you connect through the deck to phone like I did it should be default '0000' but i would check your manual just to be safe, and if your connecting through your phone to the deck (which i haven't tested so I don't know if it works) you can pick your own passcode, which i suggest just making 0000 or nothing.
I have a problem also with my HTC Touch HD (Blackstone)
I can pair with my Nissan Qashqai carkit but soun dis very bad, and the caller on the otherside doesn;t hear anything.
Strangly, but try, when during a call i switch from carkit to phone and back (using the options in my carkit/buttons on stearing wheel) everything is fine!
Checking the internet learned me that this is related to the bluetooth stack (or settings) in WM6.1 (and 6.5 also)
So does anybody have any idea how to solve this, maybe by registry changes or maybe by even "downgrading" the Bluetoorh stack to 6.0 or maybe even 5.x.
Maybe it is also possible to replace the complete MS stack for an other stack?

Bluetooth and car hands free

Cant get it working, paired but not connected...any ideas anyone ? driving me nuts
Bury Take and talk universal bluetooth cradle
Thanks for all your help (sarcasm)
Done some digging and the phone sees the car kit as headphones, any idea how to change bluetooth profiles on the hero?
Not sure how to help you but just to let you know that it's possible: it worked out of the box on my car - both as phone and as music player.
I''m not sure you can. The car kit is obviously not providing the hero with the correct bluetooth type id so that it can load the correct profile. I think I remember this on older Nokia phones as well. I have a Nokia car kit and the hero works great (except that I have to manually connect it each time!)
Sorry can't be more help.

Thanks for the replies guys
Hands free manual just says change profile on phone, not giving in just yet, have connected six different phones to this kit with no problems,
Surely must be able to change profile on a brand spanking new phone, swapping the sim into my old htc prophet for the next two years is not going to be fun!
