Hi everybody!
I have a big trouble with my XDA Exec and TomTom 5.21
Everything seems to be fine, but when I launch the app, after the setup screens, it just exits without reason...
Do you have any idea?
Create a folder called TomTom in My Documents and create a file called CurrentMap.dat containing text something like this: "! \Storage Card\Great_Britain-Map\ " inside. Do a forum search for CurrentMap.dat for more info.
or but a legit version.
I thought the legit version had this problem too. Apologies if it doesn't.
If You have too many Poi's tt wil exit
_^.^_
I *have* a legit version!
I will try this tip, I'll let you know
I don't have any POI, it's a clean installation
Problem solved!
Thank you, this tip worked!
Bye
Excellent! I'm glad to have been of assistance for a change!

Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking on this forum for a while and thought I'd ask you knowledgeable people if you could help me out. I have an MDA Vario with TomTom 5.21 successfully installed and working, thanks to people on this forum. I do, however, have one really frustrating problem....
I can't seem to keep the home location on my address. I set it up and it's fine, but as soon as I exit TTN and restart, it goes back to the default location that was there when I started the app for the first time. It also loses any favourites that I set up, (maybe this is associated?).
Can anyone PLEEEASE help? it's so frustrating.
Thanks in advance,
Corwin.
The way I get around it is to keep a backup somewhere on my device of the CurrentMap.dat Then when this problem occurs just replace the file in the My Device\My Documents\TomTom directory.
Hi Beta,
Thanks for the prompt reply!
My CurrentMap.dat only contains a reference to the Great Britain map file location, nothing else. Are you saying this is where Home location and Favourites is supposed to be kept? If this is the case, is there any chance you could tell me in what format the locations are written, ie, is it plain text or some sort of code?
thanks,
Corwin.
You might want to make sure that all the files in the TomTom directory are NOT read only.
Easiest way to do that is to put your SD card into your PC...
Solution
All
The solution is to Navigate to the folder Great-Britain-Map then delete the file Great-Britain-Map.cfg
TT will then re-create the config file the next time the program is launched and you can set Home location, and favourite locations
Regards
@all,
like in the previous versions tomtom5.00 doesnt work with Pois (points of intrests) on. Navigation just seases and tomtom shuts itself off totally.
With POIs off everything works neatly.
Anybody knows why? And why hasnt tomtom fixed the problem by now?
Or is it just me, the most stupid assumeable user?
Well they've released versions 5.100 & 5.200. & it's very likely the number of poi's on which it crashes. Don't use them all, but a few & it should work.
Cheers, M
jupp,
set up only a couple of them and it works like a breeze.
Thanx
You're welcome
I've been running the maximum number of POIs since I installed TT and have never had a crash- this was of course after the 'POI Patch' was applied.
I also run Checkpoint on there- this only slows down the 'demo route'; live navigation has never been affected.
Hi,
can you give us the link to the poi patch cab? I heard before about it, though haven't tried it yet.
Poiplace is a fine piece of work & does its job great. I remenber reading somewhere that having a list of speed-cam's is illegal in Germany, not to scare you just a warning. Course I might be mistaken as well.
Regards, M
I remember uploading to FTP a while ago since I couldn't find the original one anywhere.
Look in this folder, there is a file called 'Patch POI TTN5.zip'.
ftp://xda-developers.com/Uploads/SatNav/Tomtom/
This was working fine in TTN V5.00 and now on 5.21 too.
Patch sounds great too.
Any ideas what it actually does?
Thanx
i also had the same problem. i just went to settings and disabled POIs from appearing and thats it. i drove from northampton to leeds without a problem. you can also try using the patch which was posted by sh500. unzip it and
copy all files to 2577 folder on youur PPC SD card
after installing TT5. then excecute the ttn.cab on
your SD card.
then thats it

On some devices TT would crash with the POIs on. Installing this patch seems to resolve this issue.
In my case, it was only the 'Cash Dispensers' POI that was causing the program to crash. But whatever the POI, this patch should overcome this issue.
There are already a few threads on the forum discussing this further.
Link does not seem to work
Hello everyone,
I am having a terrible time with my XDA IIs, I have installed TomTom 5 and no matter what I try I cannot get any POIs working (not even one). Anyway, I googled this problem and found this forum. I saw the link above in one of the posts but the link does not seem to work. If anyone has a copy of this patch I could really do with it. If anyone whose got it, could you please send it to [Email Removed] or post a working link to it! I would really appreciate it!
Thanks.
The link that i've posted is working...
You've got to (re)login using 'xda' for username and 'xda' for password from the 'File'> 'Login As' menu and type the credentials in there (this is if you are using Internet Explorer)
Or use ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/SatNav/Tomtom/
works very good as link. Not sure what the program does, as it installs TT5.0
M
Sorted!
Thanks sh500, I got it now and it is installed and, so far, appears to be working, at least in demo mode.

Ok cool- i haven't had any problems with live navigation either.
i used TomTom 5.21 on my phone before and i had it all set up with my Bluetooth GPS so i know it works on the universal, but since i did the new orange push update i cant seem to get it to work, it just loads up&asks the setup questions (i.e time 12h/24h, screen oriantation and then it asks for what language, what ever one i pick the screen just hangs and then it exits to the today screen. Now for some reason its different, when i click on the hands for TomTom i get this screen saying 'legal notice' when i say 'I Agree' the screen hangs and exits just like before.
I have tryed searching for this on the site but i cant find this same problem, maybe someone has seen this problem before and can sort it or maybe piont me in the right direction?
Thank you for all you time
you have an illegal copy of TomTom and have forgotten to put the currentmap.dat file back into the \My Documents\TomTom folder.
Now thats what i call service, Thank you very much for your quick and perfect post, i will try it out, Thanks alot 8)
ummm me again, before i do a hard reset and try this...
when i reinstall tomtom the tomtom folder in my documents does not appear anymore and i have no idea where i get the current map file from either, do you think this is a currupt install i have done and there is no way i can sort it so hard reset and try again or is there another way?
Thank you for your time

Cheers!
Chris
I have a GPS device already, can you buy TomTom (either CD or SD) without the GPS recevier? I know mine works.

I wasnt being serious&im not getting into that old debate, i bet you have had that conversation more than once i bet.
All cured thanks, i found an old backup so thanks for your support - i wouldnt be able to use it without your help
Hi,
Can someone please paste a definitive cab with TomTom for the HD2?
I believe this should not upset anyone - after all TomTom won't run without the separate maps which have to be purchased etc.
Collating information from the other threads here it would seem as though the latest version of TomTom would be the best one after all of the .dll's contained within are stripped out (correct?).
Look forward to <whoever> stepping up to the plate!
I would also be interested in this. I do think tom tom might object though.

I'm sure you might be right.. however (and without wanting to take this thread off-topic).. I have a copy of TomTom Navigator sitting in my hallway - still shrink wrapped despite having paid £60-ish for it.. the reason being that I knew when I purchased it that it wouldn't install on my (then) Diamond, however I did manage to find a working cab on here and maps etc. A stupid situation - TomTom should supply working installation media for popular handsets - fact of the matter is though then don't. So in this situation I did what I thought was 'right'. If TomTom want to argue this with me then so be it.. just my opinion btw!
I could post a .cab, but first I need confirmation that this is allowed.
TomTom works great on my HD2.
I'd like this too!
Can always email me if you want.... [email protected]
You can use any VGA version - is working just fine.
There's many links on this forum - just use search
Same prob here, I have the maps but the cab file i used couldnt find the maps which were located on the sd-card whilst the program was installed to the device. Also, the voiced didn't work.
You need to install the voices seperate to voices dir, and it wont find the maps unless its linked to your device, ahhem....
I have TomTom and Copilot, and i have to say Copilot kicks TomToms Ass.
And how is this linking done?

Does the version you have work with TomTom Home?
If not, how can I get my existing maps to work with it?
I tried a cab discussed in another thread and manually copied over my maps but when I ran TomTom it prompts for activation which needs to be done via TomTom Home as they don't issue a product id to use with ttcode.com anymore.
I'm hoping it won't be long till TomTom officially supports the HD2 but would appreciate knowing how/what you have working.
My version works fine with the HD2 and even updates.

Hi all,
i've tomtom v7.915(9196) and french map v675.1409
All works nice on my HD2.
I just dont have landscape mode, but i know there is a mod to put the option in the tomtom soft.
I'll search for that.
I've got the cab, but you need to find a voice on internet.

that maps quite an antique...do a search for maps on ipmart and you'll find the very latest ones (v8.40) along with all the standard and premium voices you'll ever need...
yep i know it's an old one, i'll search for new one, thx for the link
If you find the rotate option or cab let me know
Latest maps are up to version 8.40
get bsb tweaks to add landscape to tomtom
are there others then me, who has/had problem with tomtom can't find maps?

You can use TT7 7.916.9189 Vga. Unable to attach
And after you installed the the cab then you need to rename or delete the following files from windows folder
BtcoreIf.dll
BtSDK30CE.dll
This will resolve the "Bluetooth radio cannot be swithced on" problem
Good luck
EDIT: please download from Rs from this link because i am unable to attach here

I have Tomtom 6.75 and just tried to install it onto my hd2 and got corruptd graphics, I am assuming thats because its written for qvga and not vga. How can I get a version that will work with my existing maps as I dont really want to fork our for new version as the existing maps do me ok...
So what gps application do you find suit the small screenresolution best?
Cheers
Adam
iGO8 it's an excellent application for this phone. You might find it little bit hard to install but once done is great.

Eh how'd you get TomTOm working? Could you guide me please? Mine says "Not compatible with device"......
Hi there, finally iv'e had some time to engage in installing IGO8 on my Mega. The installation went fine and everything seems ok, except for that I havn't actually tried it outside yet....
I do have one problem though and maybe someone of you helpful chaps can assist me The problem is that there isn't any shortcut in programs to the app so I can put it in the programs tab.
Only way to start it is to go into the installation folder and click the .exe file
Adam
Hmmm update:
All I needed to do is to restart the phone However the program doesn't start as it should... I still need to go in the file manager to manually click the .exe file. I think that the shortcut from the "program tab" is pointing to the wrong file. If that would be the problem do anyone here know how to redirect it to the right place?? :0
Adam
Well I switched to tomtom 7 and it worked great and is really easy to use!! I strongly recommend tomtom7!!
Cheers
Adam
iGo 8
I am using iGo 8 on my MEGA and working perfect.I am 100 percent satisfied.

Open iGO folder and search for iGO.exe -> menu -> edit -> copy
Open \Windows\StartMenu\Programs -> menu -> edit -> paste shortcut
Delete the old shortcut and rename the new one to iGo.
I have been using both tomtom and ndrive. Both have very detailed maps that never let me down though i find myself using ndrive more because i like the way their poi database is structured. Each poi gives you very detailed information and most even include a reference photo.
Hi, I have already used Sygic Mobile Maps 2009, and I think that its the best navi for this device.
I use Garmin and MapKing.
